New thread!

Igglybuff · 03/08/2010 14:02

It's here fidelma

Can't believe the slating on the thread. Can't believe anyone would think it's fine to do that to a baby.

OP posts:
princessProudmel · 03/08/2010 19:28

Awful.

I don't give a toss about being slated. Just sad for the baby. I was so close to crying

Still not done personals... got all 3 home... ds1 and dd have been quite annoying today! Showing off to my friend who came over for the afternoon.

got awful AF ache today too. Ugh.

Apart from that All's good in the hood.

Igglybuff · 03/08/2010 19:54

Ah exciting exciting times

W took two steps unaided today DH and I were both watching. He's been going mad on his walker recently so is wanting to walk. He was trying to get to his toys and took a couple of steps after standing for a bit staring at them. DH and I were both shocked and just looked at each other and pointed! We're so proud we're very pleased we were both there to see it (although he took one step with DH yesterday).

HT I hope it stops raining for the Lakes! Although we've got William a puddle suit and some wellies and he looks sooooo cute in them!

scout, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Have you got any plans for this evening before the treatments start? Good luck.

It's my birthday tomorrow and DH is taking the day off work. We're going to try and go out for dinner - ILs are babysitting. But they're only coming after William has gone to bed so fingers crossed he'll not wake

hi lal lol at eating the fluff. William does that - even when I think the place is clean. Where does he find it???

Hi ruby how are you? How's work??

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 03/08/2010 20:35

Yay W!!! Very exciting times indeed! And here I've been excited about the few seconds solo standing we've been having the last few days. LOL Steps are way cooler!

No special plans tonight. Finished dinner and am watching Lost (we're so behind it's not even funny!). Will soon get a snack and then do the food bag, etc., for tomorrow. We're leaving at 8:45 to collect my friend who's watching S and then going to the hospital.

Sounds like a good birthday, Iggly!

Can I have a mini moan? Just had an email from my MiL (who is a very lovely woman and we get along really well) about the weekend plans -- it's my FiL's birthday on Sunday so we're going down for the weekend. MiL mentioned lunch reservations for Sunday at 1 p.m. Fine, fair enough. Will give S a snack before we go because that's a bit late for him (even though he can and does eat at 1 p.m. some days). However, the email mentioned should be finished by 3:30 p.m. Really? 2.5 hours?! For real?! I'm sure the whole family will be there, so 15 including us three, but 2.5 hours?! There is no way S is going to sit quietly in a chair for 2.5 hours!! He will get antsy, there will be whining and tears, especially since 3:30 p.m. is WAY past even his "late" naptime. It's just cruel! And I said in my initial email to her that S and I were going to leave on Sunday (instead of the Monday like we had been the last few times we were down). So now I have force S to sit for 2.5 hours in a high chair in a restaurant and then strap him into a car seat for another nearly two hours to get home.

I feel like such a cruel mother!

littlepea72 · 03/08/2010 22:44

WTF is wrong with people!!!! I swear Mel, I couldnt believe what some shite people were coming off with! It just goes to show what some people will do with kids/babies, and how so many side with them. God only knows, face to face, I would of swung for some of them.

littlepea72 · 03/08/2010 22:47

Sorry....Scout, Im sorry, but no-way can you except Seb to sit there! Never mind having to sit all the way getting there. I would just go for as long as he is able, then make your excuses & leave. One thing you are not, is a cruel mother

HappyTangerine · 03/08/2010 22:48

Just a quick one from me as I have both dh and Joseph ill with viral infection today that is going around. We had a triple appointment at the doctors this a.m. Joe-no crackles on chest but v sore throat-he's projectile vomited a few times and has nasty cough and postnatal drip. Despite this he has been crawling forward today on hands and feet and cruising around the sofa. Nose so blocked tonight that he was having trouble sleeping but I syringed some breast milk up his nose and that worked v fast.

Doctor-think I am exhausted but not suffering from pnd. I am still anaemic according to last tests and I seem to have a nasty ear infection in both ears, hence my dizziness. I explained about the noise I keep hearing (have I mentioned this at all to you?)-like a helicopter overhead and how I can't seem to sleep when it's quiet because the damn noise is always there. Have antibiotic ear-drops and we'll see how it goes. Am seemingly always ill and it seems my tonsils are often to blame but it may be too late to have them taken out now.

Scout Have been thinking of you all day and wish you all the best for the treatment. Sebby's nursery sounds so lovely. Re the meal-don't worry too much, he'll be out of the chair having lots of cuddles from different relatives and showing off his standing/cruising skills-and you have a good excuse for a fast exit if he gets cranky.

Iggly Happpy Birthday for tomorrow and clever William!

PrincessMel That must have been horrible to see, you did well to hold your tongue.

waves to HC, Fidelma littlepea Bella and anyone I've forgotten. Am off to bed x

HumphreysCorner · 04/08/2010 00:18

Been doing HR work so off to bed. Just want to wish Iggly Happy Birthday and will be thinking of you Scout.

HT-hope you all feel better soon and your ears improve.

Beach hut again so will catch up in the evening if I'm not doing my PA bit.

Love to all!

HC

Igglybuff · 04/08/2010 07:34

scout the solo standing only started about a week ago. So you may have steps soon!! I hope you're okay. And sod your MIL - they do have a warped memory when it comes what babies can and can't tolerate. You're his mum, so if he's not happy/tired then you should do what he needs.

HT have you taken iron supplements? Spatone is really good and doesn't block you up [sorry tmi]. Here's hoping you get some rest - I don't remember you mentioning the noise.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! It's the last birthday of my 20s. Ah I should feel younger than I do. Not after last night - W was up every two hours with really bad wind

OP posts:
littlepea72 · 04/08/2010 07:44

Happy Birthday Iggly!!!!!! I will eat some cake in your honner today

HT I hope everyone will be on form again soon, glad you went to the doctor & now maybe you can start to get a good night sleep, that must be terrible.

Scout, thinking of you too xx

HC take a photo of the beachhut! Ive only ever heard of them, but never seen one.

I am about to have a few sleepless nights, but it needs to be done. I hate dummies, but for some reason Faith always calmed down & used them, now she wakes up 3-4 times a night to get it put in again.....I know, i know, its my won fault....cold turkey tonight

Hi to everyone else!

Scout19075 · 04/08/2010 08:08

ACK! We're leaving in 45 minutes to collect my friend and go to the hospital -- Friend is S's adopted third grandma, so she's going to entertain Seb while I'm in with the doctors. SOOO glad DH is going with me.

Igglybuff · 04/08/2010 09:29

Good luck scout!

littlepea I hadn't even THOUGHT about a cake. Can you believe it?!?!?! I'll demand one today

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 04/08/2010 15:35

No cake?!?!?! Shall I send whip one up for you? What flavor would you like?

My house now looks like a mini pharmacy. Not with different types (just two) but I have syringes, a yellow points disposable box and pills (5 a day) -- enough for 8 weeks. EEK! I start tonight.

Igglybuff · 04/08/2010 17:59

mmmmmmmm I'd LOVE a blueberry sponge cake

I'm off out to dinner soon. Very nervous - William shouldn't wake up but if he does, he'll freak out! The ILs are babysitting and he knows them but when he's half asleep.... Who knows!

Gosh scout well hope you're ok. What time do you start?

OP posts:
fidelma · 04/08/2010 21:14

Iggly Happy Birthday.from all the little Fidelmas xxxx and me of course X

Scout thinking of you.[hugs]

HT he will just have to crawl around the restaurant, go for a walk etc. My babies would sometimes sleep in their buggies with a coat over the top to make it dark.It might work if he is tierd.

I have been up with my dd1 last night, wind and a bit of overtierdness. So I have been exhausted today.C also woke a few times.Sleep depravation can make you nuts.I want to sleep now not be up and down with children !Infact I would like a day off please.

princessProudmel · 04/08/2010 21:36

good luck Scout!!!!!! (hugs) xxxx

happy birthday Iggly!!!! Enjoy your meal

Scout about the meal...it will be fine. We've been in restaurants for ages. Baby scout will be fine. Passed around all the other adults, then he can stand up at the chairs, eat some food, maybe nap. But imo it's better if he didn't nap and then would sleep for car journey after.

HC LOVE beach huts. Am very very

little Thanks for sticking up for me on other thread. And Iggly Surprised so many thought it was ok to force feed.

About the dummy, it wont be long till F can put it back in herself. Can't you hold on and throw loads of extra ones in the cot for her to put back in herself.
And get a bumper to stop them falling out....

princessProudmel · 04/08/2010 21:41

Sorry forgot.....

Hope your're feeling better HT xxxx

And woooohooooooo to Iggly's ds for walking!!!!!!!

Oh and F's second tooth is almost through. We've had more wakes at night so hope he goes back to just 1 when it's throgh.

No catalogues being out till sept/oct time.....

HappyTangerine · 04/08/2010 23:41

I am learning to be Florence Nightingale and Supermum rolled into one . Joseph still projectile vomiting from the virus/excess saliva/snot and has evil nappy rash. V whiny unless standing. I stayed up last night and he slept downstairs in my arms, semi-upright, it was the only thing that helped his breathing. DH is now very ill with d & v and the virus and MIL also ill today with same virus which has sent her blood pressure skyrocketing. So I have been looking after them all today. Hats off to you with more than one child, I am in awe of how you manage when they're all sick at once! Still have the irriitating noise in my ear but all this has helped distract it today.

scout thinking of you.
Littlepea Good luck, you can do it
HC v jealous, always wanted a beach hut! We don't have any around here,
fidelma You do an amazing job with your dcs. Hope you have a better night tonight {hug}
princessmel Now that I'm a bit more coherent today I've been able to read your other thread, suprised at how er passionate it got. FWIW I think you held your groud well, sorry I wasn't able to step in and back you.
Iggly Hope you have had nice evening nd that W happily slept through. How did the nanny interviews go btw? Well I hope x

wave and apologies to anyone I've missed

Off to douse myself in Karvol again, g'night all.

littlepea72 · 05/08/2010 18:30

Hello lovely ladies!!

So much for the dummy thing last night lol, she went down to sleep at 7pm (with dummy, it was meant to be the only time she has it), then bang on 10pm she woke! Wouldnt go back to sleep, everytime I put her down, she cried, screamed & talked. Had her in my bed, downstairs, dummy in the mouth , bottles, you name it, I tried it. So it was great to see her nod off at 1.30am! But then she woke again at 6am....soooo tired! I was only really wanting to wean her off it for the hubby, he is looking after kids while Im away, he complains enough without adding broken sleep.....oh well.

Was horseriding today, cantering around a field! Lost count at the number of "oh shit" that I screamed but I loved it!

HT sounds like a really nasty virus everyone has come down with. Hope it doesnt last to long.

Mel I swear I couldnt believe what some of those "mothers" were coming off with! I really did want to force my fist down their mouths! Not a nasty person, but that just got my blood boiling! I feel for their babies.

Iggly how was dinner????

littlepea72 · 05/08/2010 18:40

They are still fighting it out on that thread lol....shows you the difference in peoples views!

HumphreysCorner · 05/08/2010 18:55

Beach hut just fab, v. wet yesterday but much better today so played on the beach digging lots of holes. Would love to own one but when I just looked on the net they can go for £40000+ some even £130000

Hope all OK. Last day at the hut tomorrow so there will be lots of tears. Matthew ate lots of sand today but it must be tastier than the cat food he ate yesterday!

Just a quick note before I go to bed. Thank you all for your thoughts and wishes. So far so good and things aren't as bad as I feared they would be. But, I've only been on everything for a day and a half so maybe it's too early to say. S is also settling well into nursery and beamed at his lead teacher when we entered the room this morning. The teachers have said he's doing really well, has favorite toys already, and even settled for naps well. I'm glad about the nap thing because sleep/settling, as we all know, can be some of the most difficult times of day. While I felt guilty dropping him off this morning, it was nice being able to nap today when I wanted/needed to without worrying about the little man. It was the right decision to ask for that support.

Thanks again, ladies, for all of the help, wishes and thoughts! It means more to me than I can say!!!

Igglybuff · 05/08/2010 21:34

scout glad to hear it's going well. Even better that Seb is charming the nursery staff already

HC I'd love a beach hut - we hired one in whitstable and it was fab! Even on days with rubbish weather it was nice to hunker down by the sea.

Dinner was great. We had a lovely time at one of our (pre DC) usual restaurants. Although I ate way too much and ended up with a tummy ache at midnight!!!! And William was very good - he slept until 1am!! He must have known that the grandparents were on duty

I'm now tucked up in bed early as tired. Met up with my NCT class today but hardly see them so was hard work! I think I came across as smug as mentioned W's first steps (he's not done many since though after falling on his face twice - poor boy!)

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 06/08/2010 09:28

Iggly He is definitely a charmer! When I dropped him off today one of the teachers came and scooped him up and kept telling me what a cutie he is and how he's so happy and delightful. DH seems to think that a teacher would always say "He was a good boy" but speaking as a teacher who worked in a nursery (in the States), I say the teachers would tell the truth -- if he had a good day or bad day or good day but struggled with certain things. I always told my parents and I worked with three-year olds who could speak! And I know the teachers in the baby rooms always said if they had a happy day or a crying day.

HC Hope everyone enjoys the last day at the beach hut! Beach huts fascinate me -- they're so British I love it!

littlepea How's it going losing the dummy? I was going to do it, but have decided to wait until September. Right now Sebby's at nursery, then we go to camp, then to family holiday -- too many breaks in the normal routine that I didn't want to take his comforter away as well. He only uses it to sleep now. Am thinking I might try to break the daytime naps first and then nighttime.

HT How is everyone feeling today?

Big waves to everyone -- HAPPY WEEKEND!

princessProudmel · 07/08/2010 21:49

Helllooo!!!
It was dd's 5th birthday party today (birthday on mon) and it was a huge success! They did decorating (plain white) cuddly toys with fabric pens, pass the parcel, musical statues, bouncy castle and party food. :) It rained loads here today but luckily was dry while the party was going on!

I made a butterfly birthday cake, fairy cakes, 2 layer jellys (which we forgot to get out till all kids had gone), kebabs with brownies, marshmallows, straberries and grapes and crispie cakes . YUM!

scout Glad your feeling ok and that Sebby is settling in ok xxxx Must be a relief.

iggly I bet they didn't think you were smug! Everyone knows that babies all do things at such different rates :)

hc Glad you're enjoying the hut. They are sooo gorge. I always take pics of them when we go to the beach. F grabs our cat food too. So far he's only put some of the dry stuff in his mouth...yuk!

littlepea I have responed to other thread. Still cant believe people thought I was making it up. or that it was ok.

dummys ds1 had his in the day (if he was grumpy etc)till he was 1 then after that only at nap/bedtime.
As he got older, he could put it back in himself so we just put extra ones in the cot to make it easier for him to find one in the night.
Then we just said let us know when you're too big for it and at about 3 he just said one day 'I don't need my dummy anymore' and that was that! We left them for the dummy fairy (who brought money in exchange for them all) and he chose a noddy toy from Toys R us!!!

Hi everyone :)
