Hello all, thanks those that sent birthday greetings

I have my mum and sister here with us for the weekend and it's lovely! They have spent lots of time with Joseph, helping with bathing, feeding and general entertaining. My mum and I went to the shops and she pushed him in the buggy - it made her day. She keeps seeing all her friends out pushing their grandchildren and felt so sad that she never gets to do it. I feel bad that we are so far away. Thi evening I have cooked us a huge meal and it was lovely to have all my loved ones around the table. I'm at my happiest when feeding big groups of people.

All this has meant that I had a second birthday which was great as the first one was a bit eventful! Dh took the day off and was making us breakfast when he poured water down the sink and whoooshe-a cascade into the cupboard below and onto the floor. And the water just kept coming. a leak in the pipe. Fixed quickly but by then a lot of water had come through and I was clearing up until long past 2pm.

Joseph is not enjoying the heat at all Not so bad at home as i have a fan on all the time but in other places it is so hot-he really suffers in the library for rhyme time and story time. He's started doing somthing very sweet: if he's in my arms (often)and I'm not looking at him, he'll turn my face towards him, smile then throw his arms around my neck and give me a great big cuddle. I just melt when he does it. His favourite game is hide and seek behind a curtain-I'll hide and say boo then he'll hide and say 'b'.

Oh he's awake, back soon with personals x

Hello everyone!
It was my birthday yesterday and I've had a FAB weekend! The best time for ages!!

Went to our local pub on thursday night with dd's class mums, then properly OUT into town on friday night with ds1's class mums. Also met up with my twin sister and other friends while we were there. Got dressed up, drank cocktails, and danced till 1am

Fabaroony!!!

Saturday felt slighty delicate and had a Mcdonalds brekkie to perk me up. And loads of tea.
Spent the day tidying, and preparing for bbq. It was really lovely and I had a great time. Loads of chatting and relaxing, kids playing.

Got some fab pressies including a new Orla Kiely bag (I have about 6 now ), a dress, vouchers, underwear, a travel flask ( I wanted one to take to activities with the kids, I always need a cup of tea!)

Today was lovely too. My friend and her dd came over and we drunk tea and gossiped all day. Then more friends and my sister popped over at tea time. Lovely , lovely.

F is doing ok in the heat. Only wearing a nappy. We're in the shade most of the time.

I am in a good mood

Sorry about you RL problem scout We always used to have 'breakfast rashers' on guide camp. YUM!!

Hi everyone

CalypsoFramboise · 11/07/2010 22:23

HT & PM Happy Birthday lovely ladies! You both sound like you had fun (in the end HT!) and a bit hectic. x

Littlepea welcome back, good to hear from you again

What a week! Annalise has learnt to

  • clap
  • wave
  • bum-shuffle forwards, sort of
  • stand up sort of
  • say mama sort of
  • cut her first tooth!

better late than never

Final appointment with paeds tomorrow about slow weight gain, as I think she's stablised around the 2nd centile now. Think bf is going to be finished by this time next month, supply really flaky

Have a super week ladies x

HumphreysCorner · 12/07/2010 11:52

Hi gang

Failing miserably to post even though I am reading everything. Blame the extreme tiredness still caused by the tablets.

Matthew nearly has a tooth through, dreading BF him when he gets it.

Belated Happy Birthdays girls.

Calypso-sorry to hear your supply is low. Is A not feeding so much? Can you express to increase supply? When M had a nursing strike I expressed a bit and kept trying to get him to feed and eventually my supply increased again. On my BF course they said it is unusual for a baby of this age to self wean.

Better get M some lunch.

Big wave!

HC

HappyTangerine · 12/07/2010 21:26

Teething and hot weather-arghhh. 5th tooth now through (2 top, 3 bottom)and sleep regression combined, bit mad. Joe looks like a wee vampire as the top middle 2 aren't through yet.

I feel like a rubbish mum today-a few weeks ago J has a pimple on his forehead. I wanted to take him to gp but dh and MIL persuaded me that I was being over-anxious new mum. It dried up and hv said to keep an eye on it as it was still raised, then went red again on Friday. Took him to gp today-it was a pimple that had become infected and is now a cyst. Why didn't I follow my instincts? Hope the antibiotic cream works.

HC have been thinking of you and wondering how you were getting on. Not long now until the tiredness wears off.

Scout Ooh, you share a b'day with my dh and Madonna . Am so sorry about the rl situation, you sound like you're such a fab cook.

littlepea Welcome back! Looking forward to hearing how you're settling in back home.

princessmel Ooh, that sounds like a fab birthday!

Iggly Not long until yours-what pressies are you hoping for? How is William's hair now?

Calypso Wow, Annalise is learning a lot, fast! Hope paed appt went well. Sorry to hear about your supply. When mine was on a bit of a dwindle, I took fenugreek tablets and also uppred feeds/expressing-might help? Have things improved at all w childminder?

fidelma Am missing your updates. Am having visions of you having an idylic summer, the kind I used to love reading about in my Enid Blyton books! .

Big hello to anyone I've missed x

princessProudmel · 12/07/2010 21:46

Hi all

HT it was a FAB birthday! Such a lovely lovely weekend. I really enjoyed myself.

Don't feel like a rubbish mum. I'm sure the cream will work soon. Ds1 always gets a spot when he's run down so if F got one I'd probably think it was just one like that and would have left it too. (He also gets a sticky eye... still at 7 years.)
F is having a bit of sleep regression too. 3 wakes last night.....must be teeth/weather etc...

hc This weather makes you feel tired too, so that can't be helping with things... (hugs)

CF ooooh to all of A's progress!!! F pulled himself up on the footstall last week. I didn't see him do it but I walked out of the room and when I went back in, he was standing up! Twice!
He's also soooo close to crawling...

F has another job tomorrow! For Shop Direct. They are a company that looks after Littlewoods, Very, Additions etc !!
No casting this time. Just a straight job. Only 2 babies.
It's ds1 and dd's sports day tomorrow morning. Last year ds1 won the running race....lets see what happens in the morning!

Hope you're all ok.

Igglybuff · 13/07/2010 14:10

Hi all!

PPM glad you had a fab birthday! I'm now going to google your bag as never heard of it but quite fancy getting myself some new things, including handbag, for when I go back to work. Woohoo for F's modelling. He's quite a star now

HT poor Joe - all those teeth coming through at once Does anything help? William's hair is still falling out but no obvious thinning. I'm seeing a dietician on Thursday for help as GP useless. You're right about following your instinct. I wished I had re William's reflux - I had suspected it in the early days but was fobbed off and didn't feel very confident. I'm still like that sometimes with some things.

calypso wow at A!!! All those things she's learnt! I think you can safely say she's growing well and is healthy

HC I hope you're able to rest up. Can you feel the tablets making any difference? Also is it M's first tooth? William has two and I can't feel them when he feeds although he has nipped me a couple of times since he's teething with the top two. Ouch!

W's been switched to a different medication for his reflux as he's not happy when eating certain foods. Hopefully this will be better. At the moment he's not on anything to see how his reflux is and it's still there as he cries before burping and isn't sleeping great although that's a given for him

Oh and we still haven't set a date for a meetup. I'm conscious of the fact that scout will be starting her treatments soon - is there a chance we can squeeze one in before then??

Rugbylovingmum · 13/07/2010 16:20

Hi all,

I'm sitting making lists of everything we need to do and everything we need to buy before the big move this weekend. I'm VERY excited we are going to be in our lovely new house this time next week but I'm getting a bit snowed under with organising and packing. We are moving from a partially furnished tiny rental place so we need sofas, a bed, wardrobes, drawers, curtains, washing machine, freezer, storage for all DDs toys/books/crap, hoover...... OMG the list just goes on and on . I guess we don't need everything straight away but I hate living out of boxes and it's easier to get the large items while we have the hire van. I'm also trying to do some packing, redirect the mail, set up utilities, blah blah blah. It's great getting a new house but this moving business is quite boring!

Iggly - I hope W's new medication makes him a bit happier and helps him sleep better. Poor boy, reflux just sounds miserable.

PPMel - you'll have to let us know when his pics are published, I'd love to see them. How was sports day, I hope they both enjoyed themselves and didn't get soaked.

HC - I hope the tiredness wears off soon! C has 2 bottom an 1 top tooth through and the feeding isn't as bad as I thought. She nipped once when she fell asleep and woke up with a start and she has bitten once since then but I shouted OUCH and gave her a bit of a fright and she hasn't done it again. Hopefully you won't get bitten (too often ).

CF - wow, what a week for A . That's amazing learning so much in 1 week. They are so amazing at this age aren't they. How did the appointment go?

HT - C isn't enjoying the heat either. I was sneakily pleased to see clouds when I woke up this morning. My mum is coming to visit this weekend to look after C while we move and she's also looking forward to pushing the buggy and playing with C. I have some friends who's parents aren't that interested in spending time with the LOs so I always feel really lucky my parents are great GPs.

Rugbylovingmum · 13/07/2010 16:22

Oh yeah, forgot to say C managed to sort of crawl backwards a bit over the weekend and is rocking on her hands and knees ready to go so I don't think it will be long before she is on the move and . Better get ready to start chasing her. Thank goodness she waited until we move so we have more space - too much stuff on the floor where we are.

Igglybuff · 13/07/2010 16:58

Oh, and HT I'm hoping for driving lessons for my birthday but I don't think DH has got my three million hints!!!!

OP posts:
Igglybuff · 13/07/2010 17:01

Hi Rugby missed your post - good luck with the move. I hate moving when it's just me and DH so doing it with kids !

Once they start moving, that's it for a quiet life isn't it?! I'm forever chasing William and he gets annoyed in his playpen but it's too dangerous for him in the kitchen - he can pull the grill open...

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 13/07/2010 18:02

I had Mr Whiney Nappy so went and plopped him in his crib (cot? -- still struggle with the British terminology for baby furniture!) around 5:10. I just sat him in there with his stuffies and went in and out, fished out pacies from under the crib and threw camping things into the box I'm packing for him. While I was there he used the crib bars and pulled himself to standing. Then a few minutes later when I picked him up for a cuddle (he toppled over and bumped his head) and went to put him down he refused to sit and instead stood then moved his hands from my hair/shirt to the crib bar and tried to move down the bed. twice! No crawling yet but he went and did that on me!

I need to pack up things for Guides but will post more tonight when I'm back. (Will have to take his dinner along with me given this unexpected nap he's having this afternoon!)

Igglybuff · 14/07/2010 12:46

Hi scout maybe Seb will go straight to walking?? I was talking to a lady who's grandson did that and was waking by ten months

OP posts:
HappyTangerine · 14/07/2010 21:47

Had an awful day, just want to run away tonight. Nursing strike (now half over), screaming Joseph at a visit to his nannas and now he won't sleep., I've been trying for hours, given calpol, ibruprofen, ashton & parsons. He has no temp. In desparation I put him in his cot and stood outside the bedroom door for 10 seconds. He was screaming and just as I walked back in, he fell over in the cot. He'd pulled himself up to stand but couldn't balance, whacked his head going backwards and got his leg stuck in the bars. No harm done by the looks of it but gave me a right scare and I feel like an even worse mum now. Nothing has been easy with him and I can't see me ever being any good at this. My back is killing me from all the rocking.

And just to top it all off, I can feel the edge of tooth no 6, a bloody molar. And I have root canal at 8.30am tomorrow.

Sorry to moan.

Scout19075 · 15/07/2010 06:46

Hugs to HT!!

Igglybuff · 15/07/2010 07:04

Oh HT that sounds so hard and horrid I thought I was having a bad time (William up every 2-3 hours at the moment and DH keeps giving up resettling him after ten mins and calls me. W then bites me when feeding). I told DH this morning that I don't want any kids ever again, that I'm a rubbish mum and I feel really resentful. William has been whining all day for the last few days.

I really feel for you - it's just so so hard. Sometimes you need a break but it's never ending. Is your DH doing long hours still?

I hope the root canal goes ok this morning although not what you need right now. At least it's nearly the weekend - small consolation I know.

On a much lighter note HT, we've booked our lakes holiday for week of 30 August. So if you're up that week perhaps we could met for a quick hello We're in ambleside.

Scout19075 · 15/07/2010 08:12

HT Can't offer advice on nursing strikes, but can offer a hug and cake.... Good luck at the dentist! Oh, and did you know that Elvis died on my (third) birthday as well. 'Tis a very busy day, the 16th!

Iggly Feel for you, too, with the broken sleep and whining. Seb's been starting with that, too, and it's so frustrating when you know they CAN sleep longer and used to be happy chappies.

Rugby Good luck for your move!

PPM Sounds a very nice birthday indeed! I don't know the bag will have to google it but it does sound a bit enviable (is that a word, even?).

HC How are you feeling? Are the meds helping at all?

Hello to everyone else I may have forgotten!

Have a problem regarding birthday plan. When we're camping, we're camping with another unit that I don't know (I know the leaders but not the girls). So....do I just do little treat bags for my girls or do them for all, even though they won't mean much/anything to the girls from the other unit? And if I do them for just mine, how do I distribute them? I thought if I did them for just mine I'd hide them in their tents while they're out doing activities, but not sure how that would go down with the leader from the other unit, who I'm struggling with. If we were camping with the usual group we camp with (there are two Guide units in the village I volunteer in and we usually camp together to share equipment, resources and volunteers) I'd do treats for all since I know all those girls as well and it would mean something/be special.

Meet-up I'm free any weekend from now until August 7/8 and then not again until September thanks to Guide camp (takes up two weekends) and then family holiday (takes up the following two weekends). Could also do weekdays up until August 4th, but after that Seb's in nursery for a week while I sort myself out, or after the first week of September.

Scout19075 · 15/07/2010 08:36

(Someone please tell me summer hasn't finished for the year! Brrr!)

HumphreysCorner · 15/07/2010 11:14

Morning all

HT-{{mahoosive hug to you}} Keep going with the feed as M's nursing strike only lasted a week and this is the norm. Have you lowered his cot mattress so that he doesn't pull himself over and fall out. Take plenty of pain killers after your root canal. Above all, you are doing a brilliant job! These things are sent to try us but they do pass.

Iggly-the same applies to you too. You are doing a great job too. You'll both be an expert by the time you have your next baby.

Scout-I would do mini bags for everyone as the other girls won't really understand why they haven't got bags. A few hair clips goes down a treat. Weather rubbish here so bet Emma's 7th Birthday party on Sunday will be inside the house.

Was feeling slightly less tired but the M is getting me up twice a night for a feed so zombied again. Felt very down yesterday but a bit brighter today. Had M weighed so at 40 weeks is 17lb 11oz and he is 70.5cm long. He is happily crawling backwards and getting stuck behind sofas and other furniture.

Got my BF Peer Counsellor graduation on Monday and have to decide what role I wish to do ie. telephone advice or at group meetings. Thing is, I'm not sure. The telephone works on a week at a time rota but what if I'm in Tescos or driving or somewhere else when the phone rings and what if I can't help. Decisions, decisions.

Big wave to all!

HC
x

Scout19075 · 15/07/2010 12:15

Yeah, was already thinking what I would do is instead of individual bags which could get expensive, make patrol/tent bags with mixed goodies and let the girls sort out who wants what. Probably mostly treats but some fun things like clips, bubbles (yes, they are 10-14 but at camp they get to act like kids), etc.

Scout19075 · 15/07/2010 12:35

Have suddenly realized Sebby has more stuffies than I thought. Question is now where to store them all? Where do you keep all of your baby's stuffed animals? Obviously the comforter ones that help him go to sleep live in his sleeping space (and when I get Seb up from his naps/sleep I line them up so they're out of his laying down space later and they're ready for grabbing/hugging/squishing). Jeez, that sounds like a lot but he has two -- a teddy and a bunny. Teddy is the bigger comforter, but I wanted him to have two in case one needed to have a bath or got left behind at Nana's by accident, etc.

CalypsoFramboise · 15/07/2010 13:25

Hey all,

Last day at work today before I leave for Greece on Sunday to do 2 weeks of archaeology work (the dataset from my previous PhD, heh). DH is bringing Annalise out on Thursday with some other friends with a baby, I think I'm in denial about being away from A for 4 days! Hope the pump will keep my supply going (and the rest of the team don't mind me bunking off to pump )

HC hope that the tiredness is receeding and you're feeling more like your old self, can't imagine being zoned-out with 3 DCs, x

iggly sorry to hear W's reflux is still causing problems, it was a relief when A's calmed down last month, hopefully W's will soon too, its really awful isn't it.

Rugby Paed appointment went fine actually - A is on the 1st centile on the 'old' growth charts but springing along around the 7-8th centile on the new WHO charts! Consultant doesn't think its worth continuing to monitor her, she seems to be stabalised and eating sufficient (albeit teenytiny) amounts. Hope that the house move goes really well, and enjoy your new home.

scout Annalise looks like she'll walk before she'll crawl; she's pretty good at marching about if I hold her hands, very confident and coordinated, but goes bananas on her tummy. Bit relieved actually, I think it would be quite hard on DH to have to spend all the time chasing her whilst he's on the beach in Greece!

HT you're NOT RUBBISH! Annalise has bumped her head lots of times, comes with the territory, and negative stimuli always lead to faster learning outcomes than only positive, so he sort of did himself a favour Seriously, J seems to have a few hard days and you're coping better than I would. My friend has a baby that sounds a lot like yours and she decided to pop him into a childminder's for one morning and one afternoon a week to have a breather and just chill out. Her DS really liked it too, new toys etc and wasn't so clingy since. Would you consider something like that? Also A has been much easier to put down to nap since I took a really hands-off approach, never controlled crying, but minimal intervention, she really now has the hang of calming herself down, whereas it was HOURS of me doing it. Saved my sanity really, esp as I'm back at work. Lots of hugs, hope the op relieves some pain too. X

Might not have time to post again before I leave so ciao bellas, until August!

HumphreysCorner · 15/07/2010 14:41

Thing is Scout-girls are not very good at picking what they want, a big argument always happens with my 2 as each wants the same thing. Yesterday I bought 2 toothbrushes as it is easier than asking which they would like in Tescos but the big row was over who got the pink and who got the green and pink. Matthew doesn't have many cuddly toys so all the ones he has are in his cot. Monkey is the favourite so have a few spares as they are discontinued in BHS. Monkey had a wash this morning so M managed without him for a couple of hours.

Have a great time Calypso-where will you store the expressed milk? What does A weigh and how many weeks is she?
