Well done scout sounds good.

Good luck in the caravan fidelma!

Rugbylovingmum · 02/07/2010 21:42

HMHB - any tips would be good. I'm not in a rush to stop but I don't want to carry on too much longer and I think it might be harder to stop if I wait too long. I cut down to just feeding her first thing in the morning and just before bed when she started nursery and she is quite happy with just those feeds. She eats loads of solids including lots of dairy so hv said she will be fine but she needs those 2 feeds. She will drink plenty of water but when I put milk in her cup she just spits it out (not upset/angry, she just giggles and blows raspberries but won't swallow it). I'm not sure when I should be offering her milk - I like to give her water with her meals so I know she is drinking enough, if I try before her feeds she gets stroppy and just wants to bf and after her feeds she isn't interested. Also I would rather just give a cup (rather than letting her get attached to a bottle) but I'm not sure she will take a cup at bedtime .

Fidelma - enjoy the caravan. We are off camping this weekend . Connor sounds very cute trying to get mobile.

Scout - glad you have your childcare sorted out.

PPMel - good luck for F at the casting, how exciting .

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/07/2010 22:05

Rugby - hmm a tricky one. Maybe you should go on the bfeeding topic for help?? Sounds like she is getting plenty of food/dairy though?

Link here to how I eventually got DD to take a bottle. See last page, post with numbers on it towards the bottom.

She is currently on 2 bottles a day with 3 breast feeds as well! and supposedly 3 meals a day too although she is not taking to it that well yet , could be related?

Rugbylovingmum · 02/07/2010 22:18

Thanks HMHB, I'll head over and have a look at that thread. I think the real problem is that although I'd quite like to stop feeding her sometime soon I'm not in enough of a rush to really go for it. I really have to start offering her milk more consistently during the day, I'm sure she'll get used to it if I just keep trying.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/07/2010 22:39

IKWYM about not stopping yet. I'm going to drop the 2pm feed soon and just have the morn/eve feeds. When I did that with DS though my milk supply dwindled quite quickly so it will be good to have the bottles as alternatives if needed.

BellaCullen · 03/07/2010 21:43

Scout happy 4th of July have a good day tomorrow. Glad you got nursery money.

HT we go to a mom and toddler group on mons but just started a few weeks ago.On wed and fri I meet friends for coffee who also have kids, one has a ds same age.It s nice to have the others mornings at free to just chill especially as dd and ds1 have a few activities during afternoon.2-3 groups is more than enough.Nathaniel is quite clingy too but so was dd and I went to lots of groups with her and it made no difference. They grow out of it and theyre only small once and grow up quickly and get independent,so am enjoying holding ds2 as much as I can most days.
Regarding teeth he has 3 and have tried to brush them but he won`t open his mouth so will try giving it to him tomorrow instead.

CF its good you made a choice regarding childcare and yay for weight gain.I agree that ff just comes out quicker and therefor A has less control on how much to drink.Shes been doing great on just bm and will do fine with mixfeeding too.

princess good luck with the casting how exciting.

Nathaniel does ok with blw but doesnt seem to eat too much and still drinks a lot of bm during day and once at night. Not sure how long will keep going but at least till hes one.
Havent found anything he will eat for breakfast yet,he doesnt like porridge, shreeded wheat, toast.Any tips what else I can try needs to be something he can pick up with his fingers as refuses anything on a spoon and from me.

Had a lovely night out with friends last night and didnt have to come back early this time. Pain not too bad thankfully,my friend had a tooth removed day before me and shes still in bad pain and has and infection on it now poor thing.

Have a good 4th July tomorrow xx

Happy 4th of July everyone!

rubyslippers · 04/07/2010 14:33

oooh I love a bit of flag waving ...

I must catch up with the thread but a little update from me (if you will indulge me )

So, i went back to work and it has been absolutely fine! No tears from Rubes, but DS has found it more difficult. The first morning i felt very fragile and had a little cry as i left the house but that has been it. Of course, Ruby was ill the first week i went back with a raging ear infection. She had a really high fever and was very poorly and totally off her food so she was back to night wakings and only having breastfeeds

Also found out she was allergic to penicillin when she got given it for her poorly ears ....

DH has been away for a lot of the time so we are adjusting to that

Nanny working out very, very well and the kids really like her

I will really try to post more often now i feel i have settled back into work

Hope all the babes are well - Rubes still has no teeth but it getting very mobile and think she may be crawling soon

xxx

HappyTangerine · 04/07/2010 18:42

Thanks everyone for the baby group info, its nice to have a bit of ammunition the next time hints are dropped that I'm depriving Joe of a social life! [hmm}

Happy 4th of July Scout, hopeyou've had a fab day

princessmel Good luck with the casting!

Bella So glad tooth is better and you had a nice night out

ruby Great news that its all working out for you with the nanny, that month went so quickly

Poor Joseph is really suffering this weekend - he's def cutting 4...possibly 6 teeth all at once. They are coming through in a v weird order . He already had the bottom middle two. Now a top right canine(next to top middle)is through and the top left plus two on the bottom either side of the middle ones are just peeking through. So he'll have 4 on the bottom and two on top but I can see and feel that the midde two are also close to coming through. 6 at once .He is in so much pain, we are using everything. I am slightly scared for my ! Bit of a breakthrough cleaning them-I think the brushing helps soothe his gums and he's getting good at spitting out afterwards.

HappyTangerine · 04/07/2010 18:44

Bella re breakfast - will Nathaniel eat scrambled egg?

princessProudmel · 04/07/2010 21:44

ARGHHH typed huge message and lost it!!! will post tomorrow, off to bed now
xx

HumphreysCorner · 06/07/2010 10:48

Hi all, am following the thread but the AD's are making me sooooo tired and zombie like. Am hoping it will pass in a week or so.

Matthew is moving around backwards so much, need to get the stairgate up. He is touching everything like DD1 did. DD2 never bothered with anything, was so well behaved and still is. M is going to be like DD1 methinks. Have introduced cheese sandwiches for his lunch and he got on well. He is a pain with his breakfast and is refusing Weetabix and Ready Brek so had Rice Crispies this morning which went down better. He gets all excited when I open a packet if prawn Skips so let him have some. He loves the odd chip too, am such a bad mummy.

Hope everyone is OK. Waves!

HC

rubyslippers · 06/07/2010 20:25

Evening all

hc sorry you are tired but hope it passes. Yay for M being on the move. Rubes is very close to crawling and it looks like she will be into everything!

scout how was the 4th july?

ht how are the teeth?

pmhow was the casting?

Hope everyone is ok

Work is very busy and DH not around much but we are in one piece!

Rubes sleeps from her dream feed at 10 pm until around 6.30/6.45 pm but am going to phase that feed out in september

I may keep feedong in the day though

How are all the babies in the hot weather?

Xx

HappyTangerine · 06/07/2010 21:33

ruby A few months ago if anyone had said rubes would sleep fo that long, would you have ever believed it?!. You've both done so well.

HC Hang on in there, the side effects will soon disappear. I bet the hot weather isn't helping, I want to zzz and I'm not taking anything.

Mel How waas the casting?

Teeth: 2 more now properly through, 2 white tips showing. Biting on everything, crawling backwards and proteting loudly if I sit J from standing before he is ready. I want to give more finger foors but I'm scared of him choking again.

Me: Leaking suddenly-we had a builder round this morning and it wasn't until I saw him staring that I realised my top was soaked . AF has turned up tonight, first one since Dec 2008 and 2 days before my 37th birthday-great timing! I don't feel 37

Love to all x

princessProudmel · 06/07/2010 21:56

Hi all

hc sorry you're so tired. Keep positive and hopefully you'll feel better soon xxx
We need to do stairgates too...

ruby Yay for the sleep. F is not so predictable. Some nights he'll sleep till 4am straight through from 7/8pm other times he'll wake at 10ish and 2/3 ish. ??? every night is a surprise!!

HT My af came back last week too First one since Jan 09. And It was my heavy day when I had to go into London. Great timing there too.
Happy Birthday...(early birthday wishes!!)

We're ok in the heat, but I'm thankful it's cooler today.

teeth F has one white line. I think a few more may be coming through soon....He seems ok with them.

Finger food.. Go for it! It will be fine.
Tonight F had roast potato, mashed potato and baked beans (he loves these) . For lunch yesterday he had a ham sandwich and some danish pastry! Today at my friends house he had a croissant! Yesterday he had spaghetti (another fave) and mixed veg. Carrots, green beans and peas.
breakfast F doesn't eat spoon food (well he ate some rasberry cheescake off the spoon at my friends on sunday actually!!!)so it's not cereal. Unless I soak mini shredded wheats in milk.
He's had crumpets, fruit, pancakes, muffins, waffles etc etc. He likes hard bolied eggs.

Casting Thanks for asking! It went well, I think! We got there all in one piece! We went on the bus in the end which took us right into Oxford st (dropped us off right outside the giant Primark) from practically my street! FAB. Almost door to door service. Then got another bus a bit further and then walked the rest.

No idea if he got it or not. We'll have to wait and see. He''d fed and slept before we went in.
He didn't cry and smiled at her while she took pics on her digital camera. He did keep putting his head on one side though...lol!

Night night

Igglybuff · 07/07/2010 07:42

morning!

happy birthday for tomo HT. I'm a bit nervous about finger food but actually W is pretty good and the more practice the better he gets. I just steer clear of anything too hard (apples, bread crusts etc). I went to a friends yesterday and a couple of the mums were so relaxed giving sticks of celery and peas. I kept following W to take them away he did have a suck of my spicy pizza and loved it. One of the poor babies choked on a leaf - luckily the mum got it out. W's pincer grip is here and he keeps putting tiny things in his mouth - bits of fluff from the carpet, tiny bits of unknown from under the sofa. The other day he had a bit of plastic from packaging which DH had not cleared up I'm going to have to vacuum more than once a week as no idea where most of it comes from.

princess fingers crossed F gets it!

ruby glad to hear the sleep is still going well. W's sleep is a bit like F's.

William doesn't like the heat - his hair means he gets a really hot head when we go out so I don't put a hat on him. He also gets a sweaty back in his pushchair - does anyone else's little ones get this?? He is getting nicely tanned hands and feet though (I don't use suncream - just keep in the shade with a tiny bit of sun exposure).

Bella, N's eating sounds like William. He really resists spoon feeding now.

HC I hope the tiredness wears off soon. Is it easy for you to get rest?

I better go now - DH has to get ready for work so I have to take W back!

Happy Birthday, HT!!

Igglybuff · 08/07/2010 22:17

Ooo it's a bit quiet on the thread at the mo!

I can report that William is teething (top front teeth) which is peeing him off big time. I've just had to sing him to sleep as rocking/feeding was just not good enough.

He has also started to stand unsupported for a few seconds at a time. It's really weird seeing him do that!

Hope you had a lovely birthday HT

No teeth on the Sebby front. Still no crawling but think he'll be by my birthday. He wants to, he tries, he just doesn't get far. But then, days like today, he's very happy to just sit and play with what's within easy reach.

He's now in his own room. Likes his new space but doesn't like his new space, if that makes sense.

Have been dealing with a RL situation that seems to have consumed more of my time/life than it need to have. Think it's resolved now.

Had my appointment slip through to start my treatments. Relieved that I got it (I've had GP and hospital slips go MIA in the post before) but scared now as it's really going to happen.

princessProudmel · 09/07/2010 12:28

Hi everyone

I'm BORED today!!!

I have had no car for over a week and am housebound. I hate not being able to go out . I don't really have anywhere to go but that's not the point!!!
Just been doing school run and park. Yawnsville.

F still only has 1 tooth. Bottom right.
Still not crawling but soooooo close!!

It's my birthday tmoro. Having a bbq with friends and their kids (16 adults, 10 kids...), bouncy castle etc...

I should be tidying for that but can't be bothered!

Meant to be going out tonight but last night all 3 were awake at 1am so don't hold out much hope for tonight.

Bah humbug!

Igglybuff · 09/07/2010 19:29

Hi pm did you get up to much today? Happy birthday for tomo

scout when's your birthday? mine is 4 august. Your RL situation sounds mysterious... How long left until the treatments? I know you said that they'll take it out of you - will you be treating yourself before they begin?

HT did you have a nice birthday?

I went to the hairdressers today - took 4 hours. But I've lost 5 inches and am looking much better now!

HoooooWoooooo!!!!! I have just managed to get onto MN again....for a short time anyways, roll on tomorrow when I can throw this dongle through the window!

It was good to hear from you Iggly

I hope you are all well, I cant wait to read (a whole months worth) and find out what has been happening....see you all tomorrow! xxx

Scout19075 · 09/07/2010 20:15

Iggly My birthday is August 16th. I'll be at Guide camp for it, so have promised my girls I'd bake them birthday cake because they don't believe it can be done. Last night realized it's been YEARS since I've had a camp birthday (used to work at Day Camp and always had a camp birthday) so might do goodie bags for the girls, like I used to do years ago. And I start treatments on your birthday.

RL situation has to do with Guide camp and personality clashes. I'm no longer doing the cooking which I'm sad about because I enjoy it but happy about because someone was pushing me over the edge (she made some very personal attacks and I felt I couldn't keep quiet any more) to the point that I didn't want to go to camp any more. I LOVE camp and have never not looked forward to it, even the three weeks of Guide and jamboree camping when seven months pregnant!

How are all of the Mommies and Babies coping with this wonderfully warm weather?

Igglybuff · 10/07/2010 11:55

Hi littlepea! Glad to see you're coming back. Looking forward to hearing all of your news

scout that sounds like a lovely birthday plan. I'll be thinking of you on my birthday now I know the start date. The RL thing sounds why are people like that??

William is not a fan of the heat - so we've been givign him naked time. Dangerous as we have carpets but hey ho.
