Ninja Fizzy is MUCH nicer than champagne! Same qu as Sir Boob what dress are you after? Are you having a traditional dress or something different? 40s vintage style? Are the dresses at Get Cutie your cup of tea? (I am v attached to my bluebird print one) Or Pinup? Both v good for size 14.

Hi Jem I live in Shropshire too and my DS3 (Toby) has the same birthday as your DD!!!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 07/07/2010 18:49

Perhaps we were in the hospital at the same time (Shrewsbury)? That would be freaky!

weston · 07/07/2010 18:53

welcome jemjabella nice to see another west midlander, think that brings the grand total to 3 on this thread

no teeth here and not a chance of crawling as she refuses to do anything but sit..

near trip to a&e, DD1 pushing DD2 on swing, went for more pulling than pushing action and the whole swing came down!! thankfully all DD's were ok..i still have scar on forehead from standing in front of metal swing..

JuicyLips · 07/07/2010 20:00

BBL was Toby born in the morning or evening? Annabelle was born at 8.50 pm. not that it matters am just curious

longwayaway · 08/07/2010 05:22

Welcome jem! I think you'll fit in just fine here

weston ouch! Glad the DD's were all right but sorry you ended up with a scar.

Maeve is killing me - she's started waking up twice a night. We're going completely backwards on the sleep front - she used to sleep through! I couldn't fall asleep last night after the 3:30am wakeup, knowing that she'd wake me up again in a few hours But then she's such a happy baby I can't stay mad long... we went to a local pub to watch the World Cup match today, just the two of us, and she didn't fuss once the whole 2 hours we were there.

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/07/2010 07:08

JuicyLips Toby was born at 4.30pm.

I'm tired today - went to seee Sex and the City 2 last night - ooooh lovely feel good film. I needed that and the infamous bit about motherhood made me cry.

jemjabella · 08/07/2010 11:18

Thanks again for welcomes!

Yes, we were at Shrews, in the MLU. Small world! Isabel was born at 10:32am.

maman2tom · 08/07/2010 11:38

Hi everyone from a roasting hot Paris (well apparently as i'm freezing in our overly airconditionned office!)

Not been on for a while as life as been more than hectic- so hectic in fact i took a day off yesterday to catch up with housework!!!

I must read through everything but i'm in the same boat as you longway dan now wakes up 2 or 3 times in the night to bf despite eating like a horse at meal times?

Feeling a bit sad as ds1 has started holiday club (school holidays have started here) and he hates it! He sobs when i leave him not a lot i can do and only another 3 weeks to go but still it breaks my heart (soppy mum emoticon)

ursigurke · 08/07/2010 12:51

Welcome jemjabella and welcome back maman.

Waking only twice sounds great to me. Paula went back to many times (4 times between 8 and 9pm yesterday, then 11, 1, 3, 4.30 and finally 5.30 when she started her day)
I'm not sure why she is waking up again so often, she is crying everytime. I do not have to feed her everytime but often. Although I'm sure it is only for comfort. Unfortunately there is nothing else that gives her comfort (except biting me which is not really an option for me), as she doesn't take a dummy or sucks her own fingers.
I'm not feeling too bad as I let her sleep in our bed from quite early on so I'm not too disturbed by her wakings.

Weaningwise we are at lumpy purees but I would like to give her more fingerfood as she really enjoys feeding herself. But she only likes ricecakes so far. Carrotsticks will be thrown as well as pieces of melon. So question to experienced blw mums: Which finger food would you recommend?

jemjabella · 08/07/2010 14:03

Yeah, Isabel has a similar waking pattern to your's ursigurke although with the recent development and the teething I'll forgive her thank god for co-sleeping though, I couldn't bear the thought of getting out of bed 5+ times a night.

We do the BLW thing and she's liked everything I've given her so can't recommend anything specific. Her favourites are broccoli and over-cooked courgette.

Fruitpastels · 08/07/2010 16:57

Welcome Jem

The last couple of nights C has been waking from at 2am for about an hour. He wants to have a party and basically shrieking in a high pitched tone, babbles and kicks until he's worn out. He's always woken in the early hours but gone back to sleep after a quick feed. The last couple of days have been hard going through the day as he's tired and fighting a longish nap. He done 45 mins after lunch and that's not long enough to get him through to bedtime. So now he's gone off to sleep and it's nearly tea time. When you think you've got it sussed and then it goes pear shaped.

Ursi We do (mainly) BLW. Broccoli is a winner especially when baby is just starting out with finger food. A few ideas, rice cakes with cream cheese, omellete, chunks of cheese, roasted butternut/ parsnips/courgette/potato, hard boiled eggs, cucumber, peas, green beans, banana, berries, mango, tuna cakes, meatballs, twirly pasta, toast with houmous, avocado chunks, orange with skin left on (cut into wedges) I hope that helps

ursigurke · 08/07/2010 18:52

thanks for the tips. Although I have to say that many of the things you mentioned fruit, I want to introduce later. I've decided to go the traditional way of waiting with the allergenic things as I think that Paula gets easily problems (not serious ones though, just even sleeplesser nights for me). I am also surprised about broccoli, I've heard it so many times but I'm worried that it causes too much wind. I guess I need to try and see.
She loves her rice cakes but doesn't quite know what to do with carrot or melon sticks.
(Cold) finger food would make traveling so much easier and we are flying to my parents in three weeks.

DontWorryBaby · 08/07/2010 19:04

Ursi You can also give things like peaches/plums/apples as whole fruits and just take a bite out of them to get them started. Nectarines are a favourite here, ideal for a snack while you're out but my goodness is it messy! Cucumber another favourite but already mentioned. What about breadsticks?

Welcome Jem.

I'm back at work on Monday. Trying not to think about it... Lah lah lah.

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/07/2010 19:29

Jem me too in the MLU! Toby was born in the afternoon. Crumbs small world or what? We probably bumped into each other getting lunch or something! We must have been there at the same time. How many nights did you stay? I stayed until Monday afternoon. Weston was there too but I think she arrived just after I left.

I am sooo tired. I had a late night last night. I'm just too old for this now.

Ninjacat · 08/07/2010 19:49

Scorpiobaby, just looked at get cutie. Wow I love it. left it open on the puter and even DP said "they're nice dresses"

Thanks for the jam link Boob.

Laugs · 08/07/2010 20:12

Hi everyone. I haven't been on for ages again. I really miss you lot and I'm going to try harder to keep up.

Hello Jem!

Ninja Your wedding sounds fantastic! What kind of dress are you looking for? We had a vintagey sort of wedding on a budget too. My dress was from Debenhams but I just looked on the website and they don't seem to be selling much wedding stuff any more. I'm also a 14. Borrow my dress if you like!

BBL How is the sleep going? Are you feeling any better?

DWB Thinking of you for Monday. How's DP feeling about being a SAHD? DH did it for about 8 months after I went back to work from having DD. He really enjoyed it actually and I think it made the move a bit easier for me too.

Fruit Sorry to hear about DH's job, but good news that he will get a decent pay out and, like you say, hopefully he will walk into a new job and you'll be able to spend the lump sum on something. I'll keep my fingers crossed

I am feeling quite down at the moment. I can't really work out why, although I did just see loads of old friends and my family down in London at the weekend and feel about a million miles away from them all now. I didn't want to come home. We have talked about moving closer to family to get a bit more support, but we live in pretty much the cheapest place in the country, so a move anywhere else is going to be really difficult for us. I can't believe how hard I am finding the transition from 1 child to 2 - has anyone else found this?

It's good to hear suggestions of food ideas. Everyone who is giving cereal for breakfast, is that with cow's milk or formula?

Laugs · 08/07/2010 20:13

Sorry DWB I just reread that you don't want to think about Monday. Ignore me!

jemjabella · 08/07/2010 20:59

Becky - I only stopped until the Sunday, then transferred to Bridgnorth to be closer to home. Would've given birth there if it hadn't been for my iron levels.

Is anyone back at work yet? I'm taking full 12mo off so got a while yet, but dreading it! Didn't realise how much I'd enjoy this motherhood lark.

longwayaway · 08/07/2010 22:32

jem I'm applying for jobs now - cautiously looking forward to it. The whole lack-of-income thing is taking the shine off my staying home gig

Laugs hope the blues wear off Do your family and friends get up to visit you much?

DWB lalalalalalala!

Butterpie · 08/07/2010 22:47

Hi everyone, sorry I've not been in much!

Emmeline still has no teeth, but she is really "coming out of herself" now- babbling and grinning lots, and giving us all kisses that are in reality just facefuls of slobber.

I've started working from home selling books (cheeky link for anyone who is interested so I'm busy as I am trying to get to earning a full time income as quickly as I can. I'm getting there though- should be on around £500 a month from next month, and it SHOULD keep going up steadily from there. Hoping that once I get going I can mainly just run my team, just doing the odd event, so I can dash off emails and phonecalls when the kids are napping and so on. I'm wanting to home educate them, so I need a long term way of making money that means I can be there for them. Also planning on taking driving lessons after the wedding to get children to HE clubs and so on a bit more easily.

Good God, the wedding is a hassle. Although I am really trying to not let it be. No idea how many people are coming, what time they are planning on being there, where DPs divorce papers are (without them we can't book the reg.office), what the bridesmaids will wear or indeed what I will wear (I have a dress that was in the sale at Debenhams, it fit me about six months ago, haven't got round to trying it on since) and the wedding is at the end of August! Eek.

Butterpie · 08/07/2010 22:58

Ninja That wedding sounds lovely! Sounds like you are a lot more organised than me!

Jam- I have always just done equal amounts of fruit and sugar in a pan with juice of half a lemon or so. Although I'm not some kind of expert!

jemjabella · 09/07/2010 09:26

longwayaway - that's why I have to go back.. can't afford to stay at home on just OH's crappy income
