  • it was a bit tongue in cheek SOH.

I, of course, buy my Medised for DD2 lol! Actually DD2 won't take it for love nor money as she says it is disgusting. Callum won't take any medicine at all (have to hide it in O/J and the taste of Medised will not hide)and DD1 takes tablets all the time now.

DD1 has also been prescribed an inhaler to take to get rid of coughs after colds etc but not dianosed with asthma and the GP still said she should take Nurofen! I did point out the inhaler thing but he wasn't bothered.

Just dropped Callum off at pre-school quite happily for a change. He has been very tearful about going recently and I thought today would be bad after the hols and DD2 and her friend being here. They actually came and walked him in and he was fine. Thinking of keeping them off school to go each time with me

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2010 14:22

Eek pre-school. M starting in September. Am dreading it. Will be tears. Mine of course.

M had medised twice. First time had the opposite effect to the one intended. She was like a loon for about an hour, buzzing round the room and screeching. Tried again in case the first time was a coincidence. Nope, twas very stimulating it turns out. She won't take any medicines at all. Can't even hide them in drink. She's had blocked ears recently (presumably the same virus as me) and we tried everything to get her to take an anti-inflammatory. Nope, she just brings it straight back up if you force her.

JamInMyWellies · 07/06/2010 14:50

That sounds familiar have been trying to get Lachlan to have some piriton. He voms it back up if I manage to get him to swallow any.

JamInMyWellies · 07/06/2010 18:01

Poor old L his face is twice as bad as it was this morning.

He has it worse than A.

Am doing porridge or bicarb bath using calamine aqueous and giving calpol and piriton (when he will swallow it).

Anyone else know what I can do?

Themasterandmargaritas · 07/06/2010 18:10

Oh Jammy no You poor things. Have you used a syringe for the piriton?

B is vaccinated against after trying to get him to have it for four years with no luck. J so far has not had it either. I may vaccinate.

Forget bags, shoes are where it's at.

SKYTVADDICT · 07/06/2010 18:42

Poor L - No more advice Jam, think you are doing everything you can. Someone told me
about a cream called poxclin which is supposed to be better than calamine but I don't know where you would get it.

Got confirmation of Cs pre school days for September - he is going 2 afternoons and 3 mornings (only goes 2 afternoons at the mo). L has had a letter to start 1 November for 2 afternoons . He is too little. May wait until after xmas.

SKYTVADDICT · 07/06/2010 18:48

Googled it - Poxclin is from Boots apparently - they didn't recommend to me when I asked though

Also been recommended Eurax but when I googled that apparently it isn't for the under 3s.

Think we are past the worst stage now though so will keep going with what we have been doing

Good luck Jam x

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2010 19:02

Jam, have googled and googled and searched on here and there's little more you can do than what you're already doing. Only thing I found was that you can put salt in the bath as well as bicarb which might help. In the bath as much as possible if it helps and otherwise just ride it out. Poor mite, he's got it pretty bad hasn't he?

Thing with chicken pox is that it gets in your throat and stomach so he won't want anything, let alone irritating medicine in his mouth, throat or tummy.

largeginandtonic · 07/06/2010 19:22

Jammy watch the spots and inflammation. Any worse than already and take him to the doc. Jonah had new spots coming out over old spots 7 days in to it.

His body just didn't fight it at all. He ended up on anti viral drugs to stop it in the end.

I am dramatic when it comes to pox. The others (5 of them) were fine. Jonah just scared me to death.

You are doing all you can. Keep him cool and slather on cream frequently. It was getting him to sleep, even for 30 minutes, that was the issue. He was so tired of it all

Poor baby and poor you watching it.

I took Jonah to a friends to get it. You have no idea of the guilt i have from that.

AprilMeadow · 07/06/2010 20:23

Poor little Lachlan, so many spots but still looking so cute. I hope that he is over the worst of it now and that he doesnt get too many spots.

LG&T how are the pukers? Are they feeling any better?

Had a quick read through as been in Manchester for the weekend with the Touring Cars. Not a great weekend as far as points/or actual racing goes but was nice to be with the team again. Only down side was that Lucy had a high temperature all weekend and we were stuck in a motorhome with no way of getting out. Our friends mum (mummy spice) was great though and picked up some calpol for us which took the edge off the temp. Last night though at Man airport Lucy's temp skyrocketed and she was burning to touch. Seemed to cool down on the flight back and was not as hot this morning. She is off her food and milk and has slept a lot today. Took her to the quacks this afternoon and she has an ear infection in both ears poor little love. Antibiotics will hopefully kick in tomorrow.

AprilMeadow · 07/06/2010 20:24

Jam that should say many more spots

Pebblemum · 07/06/2010 20:57

SOH, we are thinking of staying in one of the Disney Hotels next time, but as that wont be for at least another 4yrs we have plenty of time to save. This time around we stayed on a holiday park an hr away from Disney and Parc Asterix. There was plenty to do and the pools/lakes/beach were great fun. It cost £139 return to take us and the car on the eurotunnel and a week in a caravan costs about £350 although this time MIL splashed out on the luxury lodge so we could all be together. We used an email offer to get into Disney for £19 each which was a great saving. We then used Tesco vouchers to pay for Parc Asterix (and thats how we paid for the tunnel lol) I suppose it is still expensive but when you see the kids faces its worth every penny. On the food front we take most of it over with us and then use the french supermarkets (off site) to buy the rest. The only time we really ate out was when we went to the theme parks as it just saves the hassle of making lunch before we go and then having to leave the park to get it from the car, lazy really i know lol.

Dh never fights back or if he does he manages to make me feel as if im in the wrong even if im 100% right which of course i always am I had a sulk last night, it was over something stupid and i admit i over reacted (he started watching a tv programme we had recorded despite knowing i wanted to watch it but couldnt at that moment because i was bathing the kids, told you it was stupid) I sulked, i huffed, i stomped and all he did was joke about it, in the end i poured myself a large drink and refused to talk to him until the programme ended

LG&T at least Phin waited until she was out of the car, imagine if she had done it halfway through the journey, having to travel in that heat with the smell bleurghh!!! Hope she is feeling better now

J has to go see his physiotherapist tomorrow to discuss when they are going to put him in plaster. What fun, to make it worse I have Ethan off until Wednesday (bloody inset days) and as the appointment is at their Portsmouth clinic, not the one near us, I need dh to drive which then means we have to take all the kids with us

JamInMyWellies · 07/06/2010 21:09

Thanks guys. I just feel so sorry or him. A had it bad but this is awful think cause his face is so bad it makes it all the worse.

SOH how was your driving are you and DH still married?

LG&T are they all better now?

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2010 21:28

Pebble, I didn't think about going through the tunnel. Would have our car then wouldn't we? We're looking into it for before M starts school. It's not my thing I suppose but it's not for me is it, it's for M. Will have a look again, it's just so complicated. I'm more a book a pitch, pack tent kinda girl. I suppose if we're well off site we can go to Paris too and do other stuff. Just have a couple of days in Disneyhellland. DH and I went to Paris together when we were teenagers. Was lovely.

Driving lesson? I got in the car with dh and dd. I hissed 'do not say a farking word' at him. I drove for half an hour, reversed a bit, changed some gears, reversed round a corner, drove home. All in utter silence apart from dd's sound effects and encouraging comments. Quite the success.

JamInMyWellies · 07/06/2010 21:41

We are thinking of doing EuroDIsney with the chaps for a long wkend this Summer. A is obsessed with buzz lightyear, shrek, lightening mcqueen, monsters inc...... basically any movie that comes with a Mickey Mouse castle at the begining.

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2010 21:43

Oh take him to see Shrek 4. DD adored it. She is obsessed with Shrek, utterly obsessed. It was her first cinema trip and the 3D was astonishing. Monsters Inc too. Mike and Sully are on her long list of imaginary friends. She LOVES Robots atm. Has A seen it?

JamInMyWellies · 07/06/2010 21:49

No not Robots but we love Walle makes me cry nearly every time we watch it.

How did M do with the 3D specs not sure whether A would wear them might cause a spirited moment?

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2010 22:05

She loved them! Thought they were going to be those rubbish cardboard ones they pretended made things 3D in 1989 but no, proper specs. DD thought it was a real novelty and put them on about 15 minutes before the film started and then wore them home. I think the whole cinema wearing 'magic glasses' helped. No way was she missing out on magic.

Walle we saw a while ago and M is building a robot out of scrap metal as a consequence. I am not encouraging this behaviour. DH is though. It's a pile of junk in the garden.

Robots, seriously, dd is obsessed with it. It's quite good actually. Ice Age too. She loves Sid.

charleymouse · 07/06/2010 23:50

blardy hell, only missed a day and can't catch up, sorry to hear so many littleies are "badly."

Think we have impetigo on Gs chin to look forward to, scratch getting bigger abd looking weepy, ho hum. Not sure about meet up as DH is 40 the week befire and we have not confirmed our plans for that week yet. Be lovely to catch up though.

Right off t bed s have to be up early (even though school hols have to get all of us up and out to get DH to work)

elkiedee · 08/06/2010 02:26

I'm planning to spend the weekend of 27 July in Yorkshire or I would have been tempted - I'd love to meet SOH and JB in person and see the rest of you again after 3 years, and I'd love to meet CM though I see you're not sure you can make it.

My mum was diagnosed with cancer in February and it looks like treatment is going well but it's all been horribly scary. She asked if we were going to come up that weekend as there's an event on I like to go to nearby, and I'm very excited - I wouldn't have dared to ask her to put up with us if she hadn't brought it up, as recovering from surgery plus having chemo is very exhausting for her.

Themasterandmargaritas · 08/06/2010 06:39

Sorry to hear about your mum elkie.

I hope L is a little better today Jammy. And the pukers, I honestly don't know how you do it Gin.

I'm afraid we are a Star Wars obsessed household. J has decided he is Luke. He won't be parted from his light saber. There's a lot of testosterone flying around this house.

Ice Age comes a close second though.

ShowOfHands · 08/06/2010 08:29

Oh elkie I am sorry about your mum but glad she is responding well to treatment. It is a shame we won't see you at the meet up, I too would like to meet you but am sort of pleased I won't be if it means you're going to see your mum who is getting well again. Hope that makes sense.

Charley, I will keep my fingers crossed that you can still come. You have a lovely new addition that we're yet to meet. How is she btw? Would very much like to see you again.

Oh Star Wars. I am such a Star Wars geek. My parents used to despair of me I'm sure. When M's ready for it, there's a loft full of figures that I probably won't let her play with incase she breaks them. When I grew up, all I ever wanted to do was live on Mos Eisley. I quite fancied performing with Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes but as I've got older I've realised I don't like the heat or sand really so I don't want to live on Tatooine after all. Probably shouldn't have admitted all of that. Good boy J though, good taste. Although I may revise this opinion if he is remotely moved by the first 3 films, or last 3. You know what I mean. The rubbish that brought us Jar Jar Binks. Revenge of the Sith was passable but that's probably a bit dark for a 3yr old.

AprilMeadow · 08/06/2010 08:42

Jack & dh are Star Wars fans as well. We got Jack into the Jedi Academy whilst on holiday. It was great fun he got to battle Darth Maul.

Elkiee, sorry to hear about your mum but pleased to hear that she is responding well.

largeginandtonic · 08/06/2010 09:53

Jammy how is L this morning? Improving i hope.

Elkie terrible news about your mum, it is everywhere isn't it. I am glad she is responding to the treatment. Probably having you and the boys to stay would lift her a bit

B is in to How to Train a Dragon atm. On all the time. We have done Shrek and Toy Story to death. Cars is a firm fave and one he goes back to a lot. He would absolutely LOVE Disney. In a few years hopefully.

I have been a few times. The last time was with 4. Jonah was just 1. The twins were heavily in to Peter Pan at the time. J was Pan and S was Hook. DD1 dressed up as a different princess every day.

I love Sta Wars. The twins have been through that phase too. They liked the newer films though SOH < tut > I wanted an Ewok.

No more puke! So far... i never get too excited as i often have 2 at a time 24-48hr apart.

I need the online shop to arrive. Am out of everything. No milk for my tea < sob >

Sorry April. How is L this morning? Poor girl. She is normally such a happy healthy bundle of cuteness. Hope she is feeling better today.
