It'll be fine TS

You lot make me with your random friend acceptance. I only make friends with people I definitely know and would be happy to go for a coffee/pint with if I met them walking down the street, and have one waiting which I prob will not accept from someone I remember quite well from school and she was my friend then but I don't want to be her friend now, does that make me a bad person???? Anyway how do those of you with hundreds of random strangers friends () keep track of insightful posts from your real friends?

Sorry to hear there is so much around at the moment. Crispy is your neighbour the egg hunt lady? I hope not, but is v for whoever it's happening to.

Right washing up done, washing half done, camping stuff in a big pile ready to be put away in the morning and last night's Dr Who waiting for me

CrispyTheCrisp · 06/06/2010 20:49

Very gently of course ;)

Hots i didn't ask her to be my friend, i just messaged her asking her to pass on my email addy to my friend if she knows her. I have no friends from school or ex's on my FB

Neighbour was not at egg rolling so no, they are still loved up!

I am now officially bored of looking at cars online and all are about 100 miles in different directions . Think i will wait to hear insurance outcome so i at least know what budget i am looking at

dizzydixies · 06/06/2010 20:54

there is a lovely toosmallforyou volvo for sale just down the road from us

TS - twill all be lovely

CrispyTheCrisp · 06/06/2010 21:05

Ooh lovely Dizz, i could fly up and drive it back. Brilliant plan

GladioliBuckets · 06/06/2010 21:08

Heheh, I'm with Hots, I only make FB friends with people I would have a'stop & chat' with if I bumped into them irl. There's a couple of ladies I keep ignoring on that basis, they both run their own businesses so are just networking so I don't feel guilty.

Well, I have put a deposit on the crazy coolmobile (see FB) and got a decent amount p/ex for DH's Micra, swapping next weekend, enough to get a year's insurance upfront anyway. Now I have to get rid of my battered Astra estate which will need £400odd spent on it to pass July's MOT - anyone interested? Only 1 key, on which the remote locking and alarm are bust (£70 for a new one) and every corner is scraped.

Came back and took whole family out to our beloved Bella Italia courtesy of Mr Tesco. Soooo child-friendly there.

GladioliBuckets · 06/06/2010 21:09

That should say I part exchanged DH's Micra for enough money to get insured.

dizzydixies · 06/06/2010 21:16

Buckets - am the same and have ignored several people from school on the grounds that I didn't like them then and they're only being a bunch of nosey bastards now

and if you don't mind I'll pass on the astra

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 21:26

the school bitch asked to be my fb friend. i replied back 'why do you want to be friends on here when we weren't at school?' In her reply she went off on one about how horrible i was etc etc

i'm friends with quite a few people but if their fb status' bore me, I just hide them from my stream. Bet cha all wondering if you're one of my hidden ones now

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 21:33

actually, i've just found my original reply to her... it would seem i pretended not to know who she was

cyteen · 06/06/2010 21:42

You may not remember how long it took me to come out of the closet to you all as an actual FB user...apart from very rare exceptions, everyone on my list is someone I know in real life i.e. have met and hung out with (and would like to hang out with again). Miamla I also hide certain people's updates, for all kinds of reasons. Youse lot are alright though

Speaking of cars, DP and I have been musing for ages about whether to trade in the Focus for something smaller and less anonymous. There are good things about it but we'd both be happier driving a smaller car (prior to this they had all been Fiestas and Pug 206s etc). Anyone have any off the cuff recommendations? I am lusting after a Golf, but DP reckons we can't afford even a decent second hand one

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 21:48

just been trawling through some old threads and found this comment....thought it might bring a smile or two! And no, I'm not going to explain the context

By cyteen Thu 19-Jun-08 20:39:22
LOL at miamla and TS enjoying some Vaseline love

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/06/2010 21:49

Cyteen - all I an say about the 206 is that we have struggled to fit both carseats in and still fit someone taller than 3ft2" in the passenger seat. Which is why we have to move up a size to get both girls, DH and pushchair etc. in.

dizzydixies · 06/06/2010 21:50

oooh I don't hide the updates but I block what some people can see about me - I also refuse to add everyone from work - they all add a name they recognise ffs DH is as guilty and I freak out as I don't want half of the security wankers seeing our phoeos but seeing as he doesn't load any thats not a problem there are some people I can't refuse through fear of offence but they haven't got access to my photos/updates/posts etc AND EVERYTHING is set so only friends can see it iyswim. I'm aware that it doesn't make it completely private but that all works for me.

cyteen do you like the focus? I loved our wee fiesta and was distraught when we had to trade it in, we needed the boot space. might I hanker a slight word of caution though, if you're even considering DC2 sometime at the end of this year I'd hold onto the focus in terms of space/size etc - we had a 206 and had to get rid, I can't speak about a golf but can't imagine its much smaller than a focus?

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 21:51

cyteen...as for cars... I love my polo!

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 21:53

hmm, boot is weeny weeny on it though (don't know if golf is bigger)

TwilightSurfer · 06/06/2010 21:53

70+ of my FB friends are classmates. remember i was on the reunion committee. i have at least the same number of family members, probably more. you lot take up 20+. i, unlike sazzles, have several a couple of exs. then there's dh's friends because he doesn't have a fb page. preschool parents and elementary school parents (i'm on a few committees). my pilates instructors and my hair dresser are all friends with me on fb. oh then i have old friends and new friends and solid gold friends. the list goes on and on and on. i actually realized last week that i had 301 fb friends. i like to talk to people and have been known to make friends anywhere AND everywhere. i do have a private side but it's small.

honestly fb is whatever you make it. not everyone is comfortable in a large crowd or with lots knowing their business. my dh knows just as many folks as me but has not desire what so ever to have a fb page. he'd rather talk face to face. tis his choice but don't be fooled...he's been known to say what's going on with MrSazzles or JohnDoefromHighSchool.

TwilightSurfer · 06/06/2010 21:55

one must apply it when in need! LOL! that makes it sound even funnier!!!

hotterpotter · 06/06/2010 21:56

I am not sure how it compares in size to a focus but I loooove my skoda fabia, even though I stalled it going up a big, v steep hill again yesterday . One of the things I love most is, embarrassingly, the vivid greeny colour of it - means it is always easy to spot in asda car park

Sazz phew it's not A & M

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 21:57

lol TS, you talking about our vaseline love fest?

cyteen · 06/06/2010 21:58

Yes sorry, I wasn't too clear - we're not planning a return to either Fiesta or 206 (much as I love the new model Fiesta...sigh) as that would just be silly. Just that there has to be a middle ground between tank-like diesel Focus and nippy little roller skate sized single person's car

dizzy I do like a lot of things about the Focus - the space, the boot size, very comfortable, diesel apparently makes it fairly cheap to run etc. - but it is, as DP's friend described it, a bit of an armadillo. Being diesel, it's clunky as hell around the clutch (not just me being new, DP has it as well) and the model we've got is the ultra-boring silver grey salesman's type. Honestly, you couldn't pick it out of a line up. Whereas the black or blue Focuses (Foci?) that people near us own look positively sexy, ours is like a Marks & Sparks suit.

It is the possible DC2 issue that puts me off trading. We'll probably end up doing nowt, no point losing money/time only to regret it later [lazy]

dizzy I have everything set to 'friends only' as well.

Miamla I think I can guess the context there Wincing at the memory.

MrsMiamla · 06/06/2010 22:01

feel free to wince as much as you like cyteen... at least its only a memory for you at the moment!

cyteen · 06/06/2010 22:04

Have you been revisited by Nobby Stiles then?

GladioliBuckets · 06/06/2010 22:06

Cyteen a 4 door Micra is surprisingly spacious inside, esp the later models with the wheels on the outside (iywim, like a Beetle). Mclaren Techno XT goes in the boot of my mum's no probs. V reliable too.

TS I also have some of DH's mates on FB for him. He met a couple at a do last night who are apparently stalking us via regular fans of my FB profile! I was quite pleased to find I'm not the only person who does that LOL.

CrispyTheCrisp · 06/06/2010 22:06

dizz there are no decent ones near you

Anyone near Norfolk???

PMSL @ Nobby Stiles. Sorry

TwilightSurfer · 06/06/2010 22:23

Miamla yes. Vaseline ROCKS!!! And so does WitchHazel!! Oh the MEMORIES!!!!
