DOn't worry Dog, it's upsettng for you and sharing helps Hard to hear things like that when you are pregnant. You must be very upset.

Plus it's good for all of us to hear the reality of other people's lives. Puts my leaking sewer into perspective, and that's good for me.

missjackson · 26/05/2010 20:12

Gosh that's awful. Like you say, tree, it's good though to put our own woes into perspective. dog no wonder you feel so upset. Poor babies. Poor woman.

moosemama · 26/05/2010 20:52

Of course you should have mentioned it Dog. You were upset and needed to let it out. That's what we're all here for after all, to support each other.

As you, Tree and MissJ have said it puts our troubles into perspective and helps us to value our own lives and families a bit more.

Hi Tink

We're having a quiet day today as well. The boys have an INSET day tomorrow, followed by half-term holiday, so we are taking advantage of the calm before the storm.

We tootled up to the shop after the school run and bought a magazine, then a bit later we went to the park where dd had a toddle around and investigated the daisies, went in the swing and played with some of the toddler toys.

I was hoping she'd be exhausted afterwards and she is, but steadfastly refusing to sleep in spite of it.

I am sat here with my magazine, mn and a plate of crudites, chipsticks and low-fat sour cream and chive dip - yum.

Feels very decadent and lazy.

120 · 27/05/2010 14:12

books, it sounds as if they have infant roseola. fits with your description and I know another couple of kids who have had it in the last month. apparently quite common.

moose, sounds lovely!

I am at PILs for 5 days down in Devon. Means I only have to oversee the kids rountines, and other than that can just paint, cook and eat. Lovely

Hello

Sad news indeed DOG

Well my boy and I had a visit to surgery today, after a 45 minute wait in a sweltering waiting room, as the GP was running very very late. He has an ear infection and she gave me ABs. Which is great as he has been one grumpy chappy for the last few days. He's had it all really with his MMR and Pneu jab followed by chicken pox, then hurting his tooth, followed by this. The GP did say it can happen on the ear front. Glad he's been given something though, as he slept last night from 6.30pm to 9.30am when I woke him, worried and wanting to get fluids in him. He also slept for 3-4 hours yesterday. Not really eating either and I've offered him some seriously tasty treats in my effort to get him eating.

They're all poorly aren't they?

oh well, worth a try books!

yes, the overseeing bit makes me realise how life may be having pots of cash a nanny.

My mum had three of us, and they had staff when we were little as we were overseas. Sooo nice. Sigh.

Am trying loads of new recipes whilst we are here:

Dab in a bap (HFW recipe)
Lemon curd & lemon curd muffins
Lamb kofte pittas
warm ricotta bakes topped with red peppers

ahhh.

Gosh, sorry Books. Cross posted and ran without noticing your post had popped up ahead of mine.

Saw another thread about a little one with similar symptoms and a rash yesterday, the GP there said it was a virus as well. Seems to be going around. Hope ds continues to improve and finds something he wants to eat and dd feels better soon as well. Have you tried ice lollies? Great for temp and hydration as well as being quite tempting (unless you are my ds1 that is ).

Found out that dd has lost so much weight that her swing will swing her again. Switched it on and she was asleep in seconds - result! Only problem is, now I have to wake her up to go and fetch the boys. Ah well - she's been asleep since just after 1.00 so she's had long enough.

120, sounds like you are having a lovely relaxing time. Long may it continue.

Tea, your poor little ds he has really been going through it hasn't he. Hopefully he will be right as rain in no time now the abs are kicking in.

Dd has just started sleeping through again after months weeks of not doing so and after the initial shock, I feel almost human again. She's also eaten a bit more today and that's over a week since last time she was sick so I am obviously very relieved abou that too.

One day soon there will be no poorly babies to report on the thread and we will all be having nice relaxed summery days.

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 27/05/2010 15:37

hi

mm - you definetly deserve to relax lunch sounds nice
how come u still use swing?
she is gaining tons of weight so opposite has started gaining a lb a mnth she now weighs 19lbs and she is 16 mnths.
she is just under 9th centile for weight ad is 50th centile for height
how much does elizabeth weigh?

hi tea glad u found out what was wrong and got abs

Tink, she just loves her swing and asks to go in it for naps, so we are loathe to get rid of it until we absolutely have to. As soon as we put her in there with her favourite blanket and toy she (usually) goes straight off to sleep. Haven't actually used it as a swing for months - until today.

Not sure exactly what her weight is now she's been ill. Think she was around 19 and a half, so is probably back down to around 19 at least by now after being so ill. She's a shorty pants though, as she is on the 9th centile for weight and height (same as ds1) so still fits in the seat nicely. She's still in her first stage carseat with no problems as well.

People keep stopping us and saying how clever she is to be walking so young and I have to explain that she is 16 months, but still in 6-9 months clothes. She is just moving up into the odd item of 9-12, but they tend to swamp her.

When I think back, ds1 must have looked really odd walking at 10 months when he was such a tiddler - must've been a bit like seeing a 6 month old walking, but being my pfb, I had nothing to compare it to at the time.

Dd started off on the 25th centile, but settled onto the 9th at around 10 months iirc. The HV was happy that she'd found her natural level though, as despite being a shortie she still had plenty of chubbs. Dh and I both have short people in the family. His mum is only 4ft 11, my Nanny was 4ft 10, and my Dad was only 5ft 2, whereas I am just a smidge under 5ft 7 and dh is 5ft 9. I am the tallest in my family, both sisters are 5ft 3 and Mum is 5ft 5. Dh is the tallest of his siblings with both his brother and sister being 5ft 2. So I guess you could say we are both the odd ones out height-wise in our own families.

Ds2 is the only one that seems to take after us. He has always been on the 50th centile for both height and weight.

Dh arrived home early from the conference he's been at today and is playing frustration with the boys, so I am still having a laid-back afternoon. Have bought pizza for tea as well, so I don't even need to do any real cooking - ahhh!

missjackson · 28/05/2010 13:45

Hi everyone. 120 your brownies are in the oven . How annoying of ebay. You will just have to do a big copy and paste job.

mm you really have got your value out of that swing! I remember we bought one just after you, and N must have only actually slept in it 5 times before he grew out of it. In the shed now. Should ebay really but too much hassle.

tea 5pm, that's amazing! Hope he slept the whole night thru.

I met my mum for dinner last night and didn't get home until 9pm, to find OH and N just getting home themselves... and no bath etc. So N didn't sleep till 10pm, but slept till 8.30am so no arguments really. All my friends babies seem to be waking up at 5am. So I wonder if it's a deal between evening to yourself and early morning, or evening shared with LO and lie-in.... I think with just one it's easy for us to share the evenings..

Anyway, must go and check the brownies. Am cooking for 24 tonight! Eek.
