Thanks for the list Amber, I think it's quite amazing that so many of us are still here in our lovely group, I rarely go anywhere else on MN now as it can get so nasty and I like the way we can be ourselves here.

Spider, what an awful time for your friend. We were at the Spa today and there was a woman on her own with her 5 children, oldest looked about 9 or 10 and her youngest baby had Downs. Can you imagine after 4 already? Must be so difficult.

Oh Rolf, I do hope your family get better soon. Stefan goes away with school in June and he's so looking forward to it. Love the fact that your ds2 admitted that he wasn't poorly!

Puree , enjoy the weekend, hope no more go down with the pox!

Lovely day here at the Spa like I said, had 2 sets of armbands with me and every one was knackered, either ripping, or deflating rapidly so just had to keep a very tight hold as Ethan is getting pretty fearless in water!Off to bed soon as I'm shattered after a full day swimming.

'Ello I weel say zis onlee once...
Signing in.

Wow, that list has certainly shrunk hasn't it?? I rarely venture elsewhere on MN apart from food and competitions obviously! Talking of which I did post asking for barbeque recommendations. I think I want a Weber One Touch, but if anyone has other suggestions, let me know.

Spider, what a horrid time for your friend. I can't remember if I was posting on here when I got my triple test results, with a 1:42 chance of carrying a baby with Edward's Syndrome. I had an amnio, and as you all know everything was fine, but it was a really really awful time when we were waiting for the results. My friend's sister's fourth baby has Down's, he's now an absolutely adorable 5 year old (with a 2 year old sister!). Difficult yes, but not impossible or unrewarding. Saying that, I don't know if I'd be strong enough to cope with a child with SN.

Friday night... gin at the ready... Happy weekend to all of you...

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 15/05/2010 09:21

Very quick post to mark my spot. Am going shopping today for the first time in aaaaaaages (you know, the kind of shopping where you go to lots of different shops and choose what you like best after trying loads of things on as opposed to when you go into one shop, think 'that'll do' and buy it). On my own! To buy stuff for me! Yay!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 15/05/2010 10:44

spider I'd never read the shiney threads before, but they appear to be a group of people who log on a lot and talk about what they eat. They had a big fall out recently as they had organsised a meet up with an overnight stay, and one member who had booked to go themn disappeared off the thread for a while. Then she came back and said Oh I'm coming to the meetup, and they all denied knowing her, despite her being on the list of people going a while back. Then she took offence, lots of other people weighed in and they had a major fall out with all the other cliques by the sound of it. They filled about 4 threads bitching about it. bizarre.

DGIT enjoy your shopping -

bugger I have no BBQ recommendations - I am still trying to convince DH that he doesn't lose man points in exchanging a coal one for a gas one.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 15/05/2010 10:50

We have a Weber BBQ. Not gas fired. It seems to do the job. Will have a look online and try and identify ours!

Rolf · 15/05/2010 13:58

DH is barbeque king and he likes Webers. We have one with an enclosed ash-can, which prevents ash flying around the garden. He has a rotisserie which he uses to cook ducks, to avoid all the duck fat on the house oven.

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 15/05/2010 14:43

Oooooh Rolf, a rotisserie [adds to list].

I think I'm going to get a Weber One Touch which has the ash can thingy.

EddieIzzardismyhero · 15/05/2010 15:37

Good precis of the shiney threads Biscuit!

Just waiting to go into London now to start my Moonwalk! Bit nervous as I know I haven't done enough training, but we'll get round - I'll just pay for it later!

Made some dinosaur cakes today (photos on FB!) with a Lakeland cake tin - ridiculously easy and very cute. It's quite expensive but I think I'll be getting alot of use out of it for kids' parties .

"they appear to be a group of people who log on a lot and talk about what they eat" lol Biscuits .

T is still pooing for England and unsurprisingly has an agonising nappy rash. DS2 threw up in the night and has continued to do so today. Last night's one was hideous and messy, but he's managed to direct the others into his sick bowl. I feel queasy and uncomfortable. I am fast losing the will to get out of bed in the morning...

Rolf · 15/05/2010 16:43

Good luck with your moonwalk Eddie. Very brave to walk around in your bra. My norks have shrunk since I stopped bfeeding, but I haven't had a chance to get new bras, and T thinks that a slightly loose bra is a great place to store bits and pieces: plastic broccoli, necklaces...

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 15/05/2010 17:21

LOL at plastic broccoli in your bra Rolf

Good luck tonight Eddie - you're braver than me!

I think (but not sure) we have one of those weber one touch bbq's.

Had great fun shopping. Bought loads so very pleased with myself. Off round to a friends tonight for a bit of a girly cach up too so all good.

Biscuits and Bugger - it's probably a bit short notice but if the weather's ok and both/either of you free do you fancy a trip to Edinburgh Zoo on Saturday? .

DebInAustria · 15/05/2010 20:33

rolf - so your ds2 didn't need to pretend to be ill then?Still giggling to myself about the broccoli in your bra, don't suppose the garlic ever turned up???

Just beginning to panic ever so slightly about the dreaded ash flight disruptions

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 16/05/2010 10:16

Are you worried about your own travel plans Deb or guests? We fly to France two weeks today and have everything crossed that we'll be ok. We're flying with Ryanair which haven't come out of it all very well re: how they've treated their passengers .

SpiderWilliam · 16/05/2010 18:17

Thank-you for the Shiney summary biscuits. People do invest alot of themselves on MN don't they. If it gets to the stage where it becomes upsetting surely that is the point to walk away.

I think I am over first trimester grimness . I have been feeling pretty good all week, so much so that this afternoon I went swimming. This was a grown up swim in a 50m pool, not shuffling round the baby pool on your bum chasing a toddler around. Felt knackered afterwards though.

Other than that not much to say.

Eddie - how are you fairing after your all nighter?

DebInAustria · 16/05/2010 19:50

goddess - I was thinking about you today and wondering when you were going, I know your holiday has been planned for ages too.

My stomach is constantly churning now at the thought that dh might not get home on Tuesday and the flights will still be cancelled on Thursday when we should all be flying

On top of that, this has been the 4th day of torrential rain and the boys have also been off school for 4 days so also , I ended up at the one and only indoor soft play place near Salzburg. I endured it for 4.5 hours which I thought was quite good!

Then as if that wasn't enough, just as the boys were going to bed they noticed ants - lots (well about 8) all around their bedroom door|(downstairs), so cue Mum on an ant killing spree!

And now ds1 has just appeared with some sort of itchy rash all over his back - aargh!!!!!

DebInAustria · 16/05/2010 19:51

Rolf how are you feeling? OK for your surgery tomorrow, hope it all goes OK for you.

DebInAustria · 16/05/2010 19:54

Spider - glad you're feeling brighter

EddieIzzardismyhero · 16/05/2010 20:09

Hi guys - have now recovered from laughing at the broccoli in the bra story !

Feeling surprisingly good after the trauma of last night - totally paid for not having trained . My SPD flared up really badly from mile 9 and the last four miles were pure agony - triumph of sheer bloody mindedness over common sense (I probably should have dropped out, but the amount of money people had sponsored me stopped me being a wimp!). I crossed the finishing line then promptly fainted from the pain, and needed to be looked after in the medical tent for an hour, with pain killers, blankets and, of course, hot sweet tea .

Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me - I raised a staggering £550 .

Oh and well done on the swim spider - btw, do you need P's jumper back before the 28th?!

OP posts:
Rolf · 16/05/2010 21:41

Well done Sponge. How is the SPD now?

Deb I hope the flight situation sorts itself out. Horrid to be on tenterhooks like that .

Wonder if they will find the garlic tomorrow?!!

Deb (again!) thanks so much for asking about tomorrow. I am pathetically terrified about it so I'm glad it's v early in the day, and I can get it over with.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 16/05/2010 21:43

Fingers crossed for your flights Deb! It's amazing the effect one volcano is having isn't it?

Well done Eddie - you should have bloody given up though when the pain got really bad!

Rolf - I hope all goes ok tomorrow.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 16/05/2010 21:56

Oops, posting issue. Spider good to hear you're over the 1st trimester grimness. Am very impressed with your grown up swim. I can barely float which irks me - I'd love to be able to swim properly, as it is I can just about swim to save my life.

DebInAustria · 16/05/2010 22:25

Thinking of you tomorrow rolf, let us know how you get on

Eddie - well done , but fancy having to have such a dramatic finish eh??

Goddess - your weekend on FB sounded lovely

Where's everyone else?

PiggyPenguin · 17/05/2010 06:54

Rolf - thinking of you today. Hope it all goes well.

For some bizarre reason I woke up at 4.00 this morning and then couldn't get back to sleep. I was just dropping off about 6 when J woke up. Its not good to be this tired this early in the day, and I only have my only stupid brain to blame. It was whirring away thinking of composters for gods sake. Why?!!

DebInAustria · 17/05/2010 07:28

How frustrating Sybil, hope J lets you rest today at some point!

DebInAustria · 17/05/2010 07:31

Deb v. Ants continues, at midnight I found where they were getting in so I squirted filler in the hole, ........this morning they had eaten through the filler, so now I have smeared the hole with vaseline, apparently they won't cross vaseline
