Welcome to our new cliquey thread !

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pureeandpearls · 13/05/2010 22:08

Clique me up.

DebInAustria · 13/05/2010 22:10

We should find an original list from 08 and see how many of us are left!

DebInAustria · 13/05/2010 22:17

Had a quick look but I can't find one with a list!

SpiderWilliam · 13/05/2010 22:27

Evening All. Just securing my place in the clique.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 13/05/2010 22:58

Is there a secret handshake

Have just spent the ENTIRE evening trying to track down this brio set which seems to be out of stock everywhere. If anyone happens to be in any independent type toy shops and spots this can you please let me know?

Have not much else to contribute atm, hope I don't get thrown out of the clique

EssieAmma · 13/05/2010 23:07

Thanks for all the helpful comments on the tail end of the last thread! I thought it was just me with the mealtime tantrums!

And yes, Amber, he gets a starter, and there are toasts and speeches over coffee!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 13/05/2010 23:13

Oh, mealtime tantrums here too Essie!

abdnhiker · 14/05/2010 07:32

oooh! I never belong to the in-club (looks around in awe).

dgt that's a lovely brio set! I'll keep an eye out for you.

essie I think it's really easy to offend MN and I sort of avoid all those threads where the in crowd are - they took your comment way out of context too (in context of feeding I during the week, it's the equivalent situation to a single parent - it's not like you were claiming to be one financially, emotionally, etc).

ktpie · 14/05/2010 08:13

That brio set looks great DG! I want one!

SpiderWilliam · 14/05/2010 08:52

DGT my Mum is on the case getting P his first train set for his birthday. She is insisting on a Brio one as that is what they had in her classroom when she was teaching. I have pointed out that other matching sets are available, but it's falling on deaf ears. If she has any success I will let you know. My main aim is to stop her buying anything excessively large as I still haven't got over the "100 wooden blocks" that she bought at Christmas. Nightmare picking them all up. I seem to be the only person in the house who bothers.

The weather is improving here, so we are off to another local National Trust house for lunch and a walk with my friend from NCT. We both got NT membership at Christmas, but it does remind me of the ongoing thread for adult children of abusive families called something like: "But we took you to stately homes"

Thanks for all your nice comments about my playgroup playdate. I now feel touched that you are all so lovely.

Another woman from playgroup who I am also friendly with is due to have a baby about the same time as me. She had her 12 week scan last week and found out that there is a high downs risk. I have only exchanged texts with her, and don't know her especially well, so don't know what if anything they are planning to do next.

Rolf · 14/05/2010 10:10

just marking my place. T still has an upset tummy and DS2 is off school with a sore tummy (going slightly demented with all the poo).

abdnhiker · 14/05/2010 10:39

oh rolf hope she starts feeling better soon and that DS2 isn't too sick.

Rolf · 14/05/2010 11:34

She's done 4 hideous poos today and is quite upset when she does them. I don't think she is dehydrated and apart from being a bit clingy she is pretty much ok in herself most of the time. But she's had this bug since Sunday which seems quite a long time for a child this age. I'm also a bit worried because I have my biopsy on Monday and, whilst I want to get it over with, I don't want to bring any bugs into the hospital. None of us feel quite right, although DD2's symptoms are the most obvious.

Don't know what I'm asking anyone really but I don't know what I should be doing.

T was up in the night (more poo) so I'm knackered. We have a friend visiting for the weekend (hope she likes poo) and I can't go out to get provisions.

EddieIzzardismyhero · 14/05/2010 12:01

Just a quick post to check only those on the list are posting on here .

Rolf, if I were you I'd try and get DD2 to the docs just to get her checked out. It does seem quite a long time to be poorly and she made need something? Plus you don't want to be ill for your op .

spider, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, how very stressful for her .

OP posts:
PiggyPenguin · 14/05/2010 13:38

How awful for your friend Spider, its so hard to know what to do in those circumstances.

Rolf, the nasty poos do drag on sometimes though don't they. The awful d&v bug we had when dh was away lasted about a week in total. Have you tried her with re-hydration sachets? J would have ripped out his own throat rather than drunk one but I know other people who use them lots.

Rolf · 14/05/2010 15:27

I phoned NHS Direct and the nurse said it sounds like classic gastroenteritis: vomiting then 5-7 days of poos. So I'm feeling relaxed about it now. Thanks for the advice.

We don't have rehydration sachets but I'm willing to bet she wouldn't have anything of it! Thanks though

DS1 is back from his school trip. It's lovely to have him back, and all his tales of the trip revolve around the food . He's told us what the options were, what he ate, how much . DD1 is in trouble at school for clawing her best friend's face . DS2 was feeling a bit grotty this morning but has admitted that he was skiving. He is in disgrace and I am cursing myself for falling for it.

Spider that's very upsetting for your friend, and awkward for you as well. I hope she has good advice and support.

That brio set looks lovely. Must get our brio out of storage . I used to struggle to restrain myself from shoving the child out of the way so I could built it my own way

I agree about some of the tossers more strident ladies on mumsnet. I particularly hate the anti-Catholic rants, which I think are lazy and bullying. Our little clique is much nicer. We can be the not-the-in-crowd over here, all with our sensible shoes and bowlheads and the Wrong Skirt

Amberc · 14/05/2010 15:31

Poor Rolf - what a lot to cope with. My dad would have told you to give her 'binding' food but I'm not sure what foods bind you up - is it eggs?

Spider - what do you think she will do? That's my worst nightmare as the choices are all so scary.

Sponge - thanks for making the new thread!

I am annoyed as I did my BMI and I am still considered overweight . I did buy a pair of size 14 jeans though which I was very pleased about. They're a bit tight but the 16s were huge. I am fed up of wearing all my too big clothes as they make me look like such an old frump!

I don't suppose anyone managed to dig out their red book did they to look up Luke's weight (33lbs) (thanks in advance!!).

Meant to be at the nursery international family day picnic this afternoon but I'm so busy cleaning I don't have time. Mark's great aunt is over from Crete and all the bubbles are coming over for Sunday lunch so he wants it spotless. Anyone would think we were preparing for a visit from royalty!

SpiderWilliam · 14/05/2010 16:10

Amber I don't know her terribly well, although she is someone who wears her heart on her sleeve. As a result I am more familiar than I would like to be with various ailments that she has . She is in her forties so time isn't on her side, but on the other hand at Xmas she was quite undecided about TTC as she was worried about the effect of a new baby on her DD who is frankly a bit of a handful. This makes me wonder whether she thinks she would be able to cope with a child with SN. Who knows? It is an impossible decision for her, poor woman.

Amber re Luke's weight: 33lbs converted to kg is 14.968kg which looking at the line for a 2 year old puts him in the middle between the 91st and 98th centiles.

Amberc · 14/05/2010 16:22

Thanks Spider - that's all height and no girth!

I've just been reading the ante natal where I gave birth - it seems like reading about someone else! I should clearly be cleaning...

SpiderWilliam · 14/05/2010 17:20

Have you considered showing Mark where the vacuum is kept? We aren't living in the 1950's you know! . Seriously, I understand the dynamic when you are at home and they work hard. However if he wants it extra clean for his relatives then I would say that is up to him.

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 14/05/2010 18:09

Just signing in for the clique! (which reminds me, did anyone read any of the Shiney cult stuff the other week - major fall out of a clique - very odd.)

Will be back later 'in crowd'!

PS Eddie - thanks for new thread

EddieIzzardismyhero · 14/05/2010 19:28

Amber, what an interesting list, brought back some memories!

Although some of them I don't remember at all!

OP posts:
EddieIzzardismyhero · 14/05/2010 19:31

Sorry missed a couple of posts! Yes, I saw the shiney stuff, very weird.

Amber, I know where I would put the cleaner and it wouldn't be on the floor!

OP posts:
SpiderWilliam · 14/05/2010 19:58

Can anyone explain what the shiney threads are about? I've seen them in active convos but never bothered reading them. How have they fallen out? Feeling too lazy to do the leg work myself, but in my defence I did bother getting the red book out to check Luke's centiles.
