DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 28/05/2010 21:27

Amber I was vivaglasvegas, bugger was whinegums G43 is just going now.

abdnhiker · 28/05/2010 21:31

oh yes! Fraser seemed like he was hungover when he came out of the general - threw up everywhere - but once we knew he was okay and just feeling wretched, I was calm and just wanted to cuddle him (which he wanted...).

lets see how I do - viva is biscuits and whinegums is bugger. did i get that right? The others haven't been around in ages...

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 28/05/2010 21:51

I used to be bitofadramaqueen Amber.

Thanks all for kind words

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 28/05/2010 22:02

[fingers in ears] didn't hear that DGIT Bugger migt have, but I think she had a pre preg habit too, so don't think she'll be reprimanding you!

Don't forget to fill your hand luggage with books and crayons.

DebInAustria · 28/05/2010 23:11

I already congratulated you Biscuits - pregnancy brain eh???

Amber - Tristan had his adenoids out when he was 4 , but not his tonsils as they were OK . It only took him a couple of days to recover really.

Eddie - great news on the house

Goddess - don't bother with crayons and books - a portable dvd player/notebook with his favourite tv program on was our lifesaver. Mr Tumble really did come into his own on the flight and train!Befriended a pregnant Mum travelling alone with her 2 year old daughter and she came to watch Mr T on the flight too!(the child not the Mum)

Poppy - watching Eurovision tomorrow?

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 28/05/2010 23:19

Hmm, hadn't given too much thought to entertainment for S on the flight beyond 'must get entertainment for S'. We don't have a portable dvd player, though I guess I could take my mac book with me (suspect dh will be quite cross if I do, I think he thinks I spend too much time with it) or could load a couple of things into my iphone. Do you have headphones for the boys Deb? I'm not keen on regular headphones that go into the ear for S (for no rational or explainable reason).

Am thinking I should take his dummy on the flight though. I'm sort of hoping he might sleep a bit [hopeful] because we'll have to wake him up about 5.15 to leave for the airport. I was thinking of leaving him right till the last minute, and put him in the cab in his pj's and then just change him when we get to the airport.

Am now taking a break from the computer to work on my holiday playlist. Yay!

poppy34 · 29/05/2010 09:38

iPhone is great - download tv profs or some
apps (any of the ones by duck duck moose are good). Yu can put phone on airplane mode and volume on quiet as earphones massively impractical (plus not sure it's great for their hearing).

And yes deb I know I will be watching [ wink]

DebInAustria · 29/05/2010 14:00

goddess I didn't bother with headphones but it really was a godsend, even if you just limit it to the flight (this will make your dh happy)Def take his dummy as sucking on it for take off and landing will help and I would agree with taking him in pjs to airport, much easier.I tried to brainwash E before the flight that when we got on the plane he would sleep, he did all the right actions whenever I spoke about going on the plane but when it came to it there were too many things going on. I found the worse times were taking off and landing when they have to sit on your knee and be strapped in, plus no electrical things on then, so I got a comic with free toy so it was new and he liked that.

Poppy - same time same place!

Rolf · 29/05/2010 18:50

I wonder if there's a support thread for people whose DH went into town "to buy presents for the children" and came home with an IPad

poppy34 · 29/05/2010 18:58

I don't know Rolf but 1.load it up with kid stuff (dh has one and has done that so is let off an addition to gadget mountain) or 2. Has he still got an aversion to plastic toys? Go buy as much plastic tat as you can (homebase does some kitsch that fits the bill- poindland also has a fine line in plastic kit) as he did promise kids a apresent and you are just making it up..

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 29/05/2010 20:00

Can I swap my DH with yours Rolf? I'd love mine to come home with an ipad. I've had more than my apple allowance for this year though

Those apps look fab Poppy - just the ticket, thanks!

EddieIzzardismyhero · 29/05/2010 20:05

Lol rolf - I think poppy's idea is great! Had forgotten your dh's aversion to plastic tat!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 29/05/2010 20:21

deb I must have missed it (was only joking anyway!)

poppy are you glued to the TV? I have gone for the red button option which is giving me the lyrics for sing a long opportunities!

DG we took a portable DVD player as well, but books and crayons were also a hit and as our flight was 5 hours, a bit of variety was a bonus for me! Deb's comic suggestion also a great one.

poppy34 · 29/05/2010 20:23

Yep biscuits am in front of it with my lime and soda... deb we can trade notes later.

Glad that app tips were helpful domestic

poppy34 · 29/05/2010 20:24

A word of caution re comics- this month Thomas comic has a free
tambourine and trumpet... They are quite loud.

DebInAustria · 29/05/2010 22:12

So Poppy - did you see Spain and the extra man! Also loved the butterfly costumes I liked Belgium and Germany.

Tambourine and trumpet would be seriously bad news

DebInAustria · 30/05/2010 13:40

anyone around or are you all out enjoying your bank holiday weekend?

SpiderWilliam · 30/05/2010 14:38

Hello Deb, just marking my spot.

I think my neighbour (she of the celeb baby shower) may be in labour!! Just seen her OH putting the Moses basket in the boot prior to her getting into the car clutching a copy of "what to expect". Obviously taking the Moses basket to hospital somewhat pointless, but I can't think of an alternative explanation. She is lovely if a bit princessy, so I imagine that she has declared that hospital goldfish tanks are unsuitable . I'm excited and will now be twitching my net curtains until I find out more.

SpiderWilliam · 30/05/2010 16:34

False alarm. She's back home pegging out her washing.

poppy34 · 30/05/2010 17:54

No am around but tired- missed the invasion deb as switched on after it was on. UK propping up te table again...

Sad news though deb trumpet has stopped working and tambourine accidentally kicked under the bed.

Feeling completely worn out all the time - spider did you feel like that? And your neighbours sound like have pfbitis( I am trying to keep relaxed til further along. Then will be bothering all those with more than one for tips- looking fixedly at deb).

poppy34 · 30/05/2010 18:06

Oh dear- hormones got better of me and posted on one of those threads about being disappointed about having boy/girl- someone used the word devestated... A bit upset/ put out/ disappointed I will give you but devestated ?

SpiderWilliam · 30/05/2010 18:43

Poppy - yes I did feel absolutely shattered. It has worn off though, as has the background sickness. I think I started feeling better earlier this time than last time: maybe 13 weeks rather than 16. Still having phases of complete tiredness though, like at 10am this morning when I went back to bed for an hour.

Yes, massive PFBitis: she has had most of the house redecorated, but that is probably to remove the traces of the ex-wife which I entirely understand. The other puzzling purchase next door is a P&T complete with the doubles kit. She is more set up for my future buggy needs than I am

Deb forgot to say earlier: great about the offer, but commiserations that it isn't exactly what you were hoping for. Fingers remaining crossed for you.

V excited once more as I have found a second hand Isla balance bike on eBay about 10 miles from our house. AH any thoughts on what a second hand one is worth? Also can you re-explain why you love them so much? Especially the benefits over a wooden one. The auction doesn't finish for another 6 days though.

EddieIzzardismyhero · 30/05/2010 19:48

spider, your neighbour sounds like she is seriously PFB!

poppy, have joined you in posting on that thread - those threads drive me mad. And I have never, ever, ever seen one from someone devastated that they're having a girl .

Anyway . . . .

abdnhiker · 30/05/2010 20:05

spider The bikes are made by a woman who really understands cycling and kids - they are well made, well designed, and just brilliant. There's a local mum here who was on the GB Olympic cycling team - her son is on his third islabike (he's DS1's age but tall) and she wouldn't consider any other brand. The benefits over a wooden one would be weight and the fact that they are proper tyres - sometimes the wooden ones have just rubber and they would be heavy and not roll as well.

poppy34 · 30/05/2010 20:48

Thanks for islabikes tip ah as we have been looking at them too.

Spider that is heartening that it goes as I remember being Like this around 12 weeks-but not ao early. Hope it's a good sign.

Thanks for support Eddie- would think those threads were stupid even without my past experience. Have friends who are expecting their fourth boy- as they said what is more important is that it's ok..
