Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsMiamla · 19/05/2010 08:44

really oops? sorry, thought i had! i've bought a 2nd hand techno xt, and its due for delivery today

yeah, i had thought about leaving a coded note on door along the lines of 'baby sleeping, please knock instead of using doorbell. if i don't hear you please leave any parcels with next door'
do you reckon that would fool a burglar into thinking i was actually in?

so how was your night? not good judging by your fb staus!

oopsandbabycoconut · 19/05/2010 09:22

It's wasn't DD unfortunately it was me - DH came ot bed at about 1ish and woke me up with some really stupid pertinent question and that was it for hours! I fell asleep at about 4.30ish and DD up at 6.15 when I asked DH to take her he asked if he was allowed to wake up first so 1.5 hours later DD and I were downstairs and playing he finally woke up at 8.30 and is now late for work.

Coded note sounds good fortunately for us we live in a quiet nosey old people infested neighbourhood so leaving a note isn't an issue when it comes to burglars.

DD has started asking us questions when she wants something she came over earlier and said 'what do you want to eat Mummy?' So I asked back What do you want to eat P? and she said 'ooh apple please' as if it wasn't her intention all along. She did it too when she wanted to read a book.

LadyGardenia · 19/05/2010 09:55

Just popped on to see if there were any further tracking updates on Miamla's delivery.

FoghornLeghorn · 19/05/2010 09:59

Dizz - hope DD enjoys her day

Mrsm - fingers crossed it comes today

Well DD2 was poorly all through Monday night and yesterday (sick bug). She's now fine and now DD3 and DH have it.
I'm at work, he's asking me to come home - I don't want the lurgy

GladioliBuckets · 19/05/2010 10:11

Dizzy You need to kick some arse this weekend. You don't have to stay in and be a helicopter host, tell your guests you need them to be extra help what with birthday, pre-paid clubs and them only having one child to deal with. Just find a way to mention that having 3kids requires a lot of rushing about and that they'll have to muck in. Take the girls to the clubs, leave D at home with the guests. If guests want to go shopping, let them go and take a DD with them (eg take DD2 to BuildABear or something). Ask anyone on here, people are so in awe of 3+mums it's almost a passport to taking it easy and expecting other people to help! Stop slaving and start asking. No not asking, telling.

DD's birthday is actually next Thurs and we will be celebrating by dropping her at breakfast club and catching a plane to Greece!

GladioliBuckets · 19/05/2010 10:14

Miamla if you leave a note you have to sign, address and date it so they can take it with them as proof.

GladioliBuckets · 19/05/2010 10:30

Oops Are you still wobbling about the name Elyssia? How about Alethia instead, pronounced Aleethia, Greek for truth?

dizzydixies · 19/05/2010 11:18

thanks Buckets but I have tried all of that and they still get waited on hand and foot. They also won't have one child to deal with as DNiece will end up here or doing what we're doing as usual although being frightened of the (harmless pathetic effort of a) dog and not liking anything I cook as all they ever have at home is chicken nuggest and chips Its frankly not worth the aggro for the sake of a bi-annual visit. DH and I fall out and the kids would get upset if I managed to create an atmosphere - I know as I did it before and FIL stomped off out of the patio doors in the huff after I turned the tv off and asked him to help with the dishes, he'd spent the meal disappearing between courses back through to living room to continue to watch sky sports news.

Will suck it up, play stepford DIL for the weekend and get it over with. DD's birthday will be celebrated to her advantage as the wee soul is happy with bubbles and balloons of which we have an abundance I suppose I would just like my kids to have grandparents who are interested in them

Foggy - hope lurgy passes very quickly

Loti - welcome home sorry to hear that the holiday wasn't the break you needed. I am however of the opinion that your DH has the luxury of living like a single bloke and having none of the responsibilities of a family Its now up to you whether or not you facilitate it further

QofD - hope you're feeling better soon.

another friend of mine had a wee girl yesterday, haven't heard the name/weight yet though. Had a phone call from Occupational Health this morning asking when I'll be back at work as well.

A has turned up today, its not as nice a day today so I won't mind getting on with the housework!

dizzydixies · 19/05/2010 11:18

Miamla - is it there yet, have you got it?!?!

oopsandbabycoconut · 19/05/2010 11:32

DD has had a little friend to play today - normally they just play alongside each other but today they had a whole game going involving stones, sand and cherry blossom The brought a bucket of little balls in from outside and emptied it on the sitting room carpet, which I was fine with until I realised they had filled the bottom of the bucket with sand and blossom. I'm off to hoover. DD took herself to my bed whilst I was on the phone and when I went to check she was sleeping so now I have no excuse not to tidy

Any buggy news Miamla??

LadyGardenia · 19/05/2010 11:35

Oh dizzy you are a better person than I am .

Foggy are you heading home to dh? Hate that work/home pull thing, I had it yesterday, ds2 sick and I just had to say ok work must wait till he's better. Though in your head you can always say family first, it can be vv difficult to ditch work.

Wet here but green, green, green all around, it's just so lush and lovely. Though the only colour in our garden is green, we are v short on actual flowers! Had an early morning couple of miles with dogs & pram, deserted park, should do it every day instead of hacking out mid-morning. Was desperate to get bit of oxygen for ds2. Did I already say we were in the house the ENTIRE DAY yesterday, I can't stand that.

dizzydixies · 19/05/2010 11:39

lordy Lady, I hate it too, cabin fever sets in here at 9.15 and remains the whole day - green as green green green here too -reminds me of why I love where we live so much , although am missing my trip to the Emerald isle this year, haven't been over yet

luckoftheirish · 19/05/2010 11:47

i'm missing the green green grass of home too dizzy but hoping to pop over early june for dad's birthday!..

gor both girlies at home as dd1 ear still not popped and she a miserable sod!..

forgot to say that dd2 said her first sentence on hols.. i handed her a spoon whilst waiting for her dinner ad she said a clear as anything " i need a bowl"

MrsMiamla · 19/05/2010 11:52

oh you're all soooo funny with your buggy questions/comments

no, its not here yet but I am waiting very patiently I'll have you know

buckets interesting re signing note, didn't realise that but it makes complete sense! i'll try and remember for next time

we've got glorious sun here so once DS wakes up (poor thing is exhausted from toddler group!), we're going to have a picnic in the patchwork quilt garden.

oops i love it now that they're starting to play more imaginatively with things. DS spent ages yesterday loading his train carriages up with people and stickle bricks. Pushing the train the length of the room, unloading them all and going back to where he started from

lg how's DS2 doing today?

dizz what lg said.. you're being a better person than me too!

foggy hope your brood are all feeling better soon and that you manage to avoid it

LadyGardenia · 19/05/2010 13:39

MrsMiamla · 19/05/2010 13:50

ebay invoice has got correct address on it but my 'home' address on paypal is my old one
fuck
i'm wondering if i should be parked outside my old flat now!

hotterpotter · 19/05/2010 14:08

Miamla it sounds like they've already been to your old house but you weren't there so they've sent it to PO sorting office. Eek You may need to get the 'sorry we called when you were out' card off the new people and go to the post office... I hope you get it back OK!

oopsandbabycoconut · 19/05/2010 15:53

Miamla - if you know which post office it has gone to you just need ID to collect it with your name on it. SO if yu take your passport to the postie sorting office they should hand it over and make you sign a book.

I have just bought a little tikes slide /climbing frame thingie from a local CM who is shutting up shop it was a bargain at £40 bearing in mind we wanted to buy DD one for her birthday and were at the price of things. If she is a nice child and plays well with it then we might get someone to build her and DD2 a nice wooden one when they are 21 older.

LG - you lovely greenness sounds fab - herethings are drying out already and the park grass is brown where it has been cut and not rained on but I am not complaining, DD has been outside all day and we have walked places we haven't been able to for weeks.

GladioliBuckets · 19/05/2010 16:37

Miamla Hope you've got your parcel. I had that once. Had changed my delivery address on Ebay but not my main contact address. Despite receipt saying new address, Ebay managed to give sender my old one.

LOTI Sorry your weekend went as expected, iyswim. Guess you need to think about what you want from life as a real life person with human rights and whether your DH can actually meet those basic needs. Then ask him what he actually wants from life and whether that includes you specifically or just someone to keep the kids out of his hair? Is scary to give and receive brutal honesty but if it means an end to your current lifestyle, that has to be a good thing, hasn't it? It's just not sustainable and you have the right to more.

MrsMiamla · 19/05/2010 17:03

oh my! what a performance!!

hots THANK YOU!!! whilst i was waiting outside my old flat (nobody was in..obviously, that would have been too easy!), i tried to have a look on here and all i could see was a preview of your post 'it sounds like they've'. I then thought, oh bums! reread the tracking info and realised you were absolutely right, they had tried to deliver it already!

so, i bundled DS back into his car seat (he was not a happy chap by this stage). i drove round to the post office. had to park miles away. dragged, bribed, carried DS up to the PO, joined a long queue so you can imagine the state of us both by the time we got to the front!

the guy said yes they had the parcel but no i couldn't have it without the 'sorry you were out card' and ID. (DS was at this point investigating the weighing scales!). I explained it would be really hard to get home, get the card etc and was there nothing he could do. Told him it was a pushchair in the parcel and that i really needed it today. He went off, had a chat with his boss and came back smiling, saying i could have it if i had photo ID. I then got my whole bag out on the counter, supposedly looking for my driving license that i was sure was in my bag somewhere I think it was at this point he felt particularly sorry for me so said a bank card would be sufficient He was concerned how i was going to get such a big box home. I assured him that i'd be fine because i was planning on putting DS straight into it. He thought i meant the box

oh yeah baby!!!! i've got the pushchair!!!!

i have now deleted wrong address from paypal!

why is nothing i do ever simple?!!

DS initially wouldn't get in the pushchair but then when i got back to the car he didn't want to get out of it! I like it. its light to push, and light to pick up and throw in back of car so thumbs up from me as well! Condition of it is obviously used but very good and well looked after

time for a cup of tea and cbeebies

hotterpotter · 19/05/2010 17:47

Phew

MrsMiamla · 19/05/2010 17:47

forgot to say... and this is what happened after i'd picked the pushchair up!

dizzydixies · 19/05/2010 18:25

good karma for you lovely lady, however I am needing some building work done so hand over the number
