didn't sell - hurrah!!

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 19:16

miamla does your DP have a fussy particular palate? Reason i ask is that my BIL is the fussiest food person i have ever met and DNiece and DNephew are not good with food. I have never worked out whether it is because he is quite audible about food he doesn't like and the DC's hear this and copy, or whether there is some genetic predisposition to not liking certain flavours/textures. I know that when DD1 hears other children saying 'oh i don't like that' that she will parrot it out for the next few mealtimes.

Do you think DS might be copying/reacting to DH's reaction to food? Just a thought, although IMO 21 months seems young for that as i can't imagine DD2 following such behaviours. Sorry for the ramble, am really just musing to myself

Sounds perfect dizz. Will hold you to that once the bloody volcano stops spewing. How are your shifts fixed for 2030?

dizzydixies · 16/05/2010 19:40

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 19:45

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 19:47

In 2030 we will all be tryig to make apponitment with Dizzy for cakes for our Aug 08 Babies weddings We will all use the line - Do you remember me from when......

dizzydixies · 16/05/2010 19:47

oh lordy, red forehead/nose and chest - scottish blue skin doesn't do well in the alfresco situation

in 2030 I expect mine to be taking us for fecking lunch in the ritz or at least sending us as being seen with their mother's isn't cool

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 19:48

sorry there is a crumb under my N key and I need to thump it or it doesn't work!

dizzydixies · 16/05/2010 19:51

no need to apologise Oops - my DH is the same as your 'n' key

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 19:51

You still here oops? . Go eat a pineapple or summat

OP posts:
oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 19:55

Yes I am still here but I would rather be having a baby! I am frustrated with 3 hours here and 2 hours there contracting. DH 'kindly' downloaded a contraction time and it says stupid wonderful birthing phrases such as 'your body knows ho to birth your baby' and 'breathe your baby into the world' No PISS OFF I am frustrated and want her out NOW! If DH tell me 'I find you strangely sex at the moment' oce more today I will rip his testicles off and stuff them in his ear

I have eaten 2 packs of waitrose sugarloaf pineapple today and am like to have heavenly tummy ache in a few hours!

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 20:05

ROFL dizz

Sorry oops, couldn't resist. I know (well from others) how frustrating it is when people keep asking if you have had the baby yet . Loving the after stuffing DH's testicles in your ear

OP posts:
oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 20:09

HIs ear Crispy - why would I want testicles in my ear????

I am actually fine with her not being here yet but If MIL says 'can't you just ask for a section as I can't wait to meet my new granddaughter' I may have to murder someone I am excited and can't wait but will if that is what she needs.

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 20:11

I really shouldn't eat crumby stuff over the computer - it makes my spelling even worse than usual!

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 20:18

Did she actually say that . My MIL copped a strop because i took the easy option and went for a second section when i could have had her naturally

My friend has people texting her daily asking her if baby has arrived yet. Why do people do that? . Especially when they have DC's themselves

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 16/05/2010 20:21

I used to text them back saying 'yes, we've had the baby but we're just keeping it a secret' but then I'm a sarcastic bugger

DH has just informed me that the only thing the BBQ is fit for is the tip - which is fecking brilliant news as I've invited a few people over next Sun for DD2's b'day and thought I'd just chuck the BBQ on

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 20:35

Crispy - Yes she did! for a woman who though we shouldn't have another baby she is truely being a PITA!

Dizzy - get him to build you one - true man stylee, or can't he just build a fire in his riot shield and use the grill tray from the BBQ?

MrsMiamla · 16/05/2010 21:52

oops i'm shocked at your mil!!!! what a fucking cheek!!
I'm loving the idea of your contraction timer...NOT!!!!! I'd have used that to tie round DH's testicles if he tries that on me!!

you lot made me laugh with your talk about 2030! But yup, reserve me a table at the tay cafe and i'll be there

dizz i sent similar message to my inquiring family too re DS!

crisp re palate... DH ate it tonight (his proclamation was whilst it was cooking!) and reckoned it was the best fish pie he'd ever tasted! DS meanwhile wouldn't even eat the mash. He ate all the peas that hadn't been 'infected' by the sauce though. His face was a picture when he accidently got a bit of sauce/fish/potato in his mouth though! DH and i just ignored him and let him get on with it.

Actually girls, you can help solve a dispute.... DH reckons that DS had his chance to have dinner and chose not to so that should have been it. I, on the other hand, reckon he genuinely didn't like it (see above comment re face he pulled!) so we should offer him something else.
So, who was right? (don't feel you have to say me just because you're my bunch of hairy truckers!)

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 22:06

Miamla - I have to say he is most likely too little to understand the whole - this is dinner eat it or go hungry - theory I would offer something else savoury then follow the normal meal pattern. DD occasionally really does not like the flavour of a partiular version of a dish and nothing in the world will make her eat it. She once had a fish pie in a pub and she refused but when offered it again at hime she scoffed it like a piggy. Kepp offering things and let him try but don't force things. It is a sure fire way to force him to be even more fussy.

I am off to bed in a bit. DH is asking to come too but is currently being ignored!

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 22:08

I'm afraid i am a cruel mama tough old bird so I have to say DH . I wouldn't offer an 'alternative' savoury dinner. However pudding would have been a banana and yoghurt so more filling than normal and then maybe some toast before bed if hungry with no association to the 'refused' dinner IYSWIM?

ROFL @ riot shield BBQ. I would suspect they are made of superlight fiberglass or something though which may not be best suited to fire

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 16/05/2010 22:11

tough call...at 21 months I'd go with offer a sure thing and if you get the same reaction BED without anything else.

QueenofDreams · 16/05/2010 22:11

Hi ladies, haven't had time to catch up, been in hospital since thursday afternoon. Just got out this afternoon. Been on a drip for dehydration. Staff were fantastic though and such a difference from when I had this with Sebastian at a hospital in london. Anyway, am knackered so going to head to bed. Hope you're all ok

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 22:15

AAhhh Crispy but you are experienced and I am a sucker for DD atm. I am also keen to feed her up before bed to avoid the 4am 'mummy, I need a nana a eating, hungry please'

We stopped the bottle tonight and she had 3oz in her cup before going to bed. DH told her the bottle fairy had been and taken them to the recycling I am so pleased to be rid of them and they are going out the house so no-one can reintroduce them whilst I am in hospital.

dizzydixies · 16/05/2010 22:16

AARRGGHHHHHH where did my post go??

Miamla - I hated fish from a very young age so please don't torture him (although I'm sure your fish pie was lovely) and I would've given him something else - sorry Mr Miamla but he's too wee for that just yet imo

riot sheild made of stuff (polycarbonate or other) which cannot be set on fire which I am personally rather glad for - I've seen what they do when they're notmincingabout on a proper call and the more protective the better frankly In my defence I HAVE asked him to take up knitting or bridge or something but apparently people launching bricks and petrol bombs at him holds more appeal

oopsandbabycoconut · 16/05/2010 22:16

HUGS QOD - Hope you get some rest tonight.

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/05/2010 22:20

oops you seem to have glossed over the fact that i think a banana and a yoghurt is a sufficient meal

QoD sorry to hear you have been so poorly. Hopefully the hospital have given you some strategies/drugs to help keep sickness/dehydration at bay as much as poss?
