Here you go ladies...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
momino · 14/06/2010 23:20

llare, sorry don't know what to tell you except if the pain carries on, go see your GP. ouch. biting was the reason I had to stop BF with Harper. I hope it gets better.

go to sleep! I'm off now myself.

belgina · 15/06/2010 20:51

Hi everyone,

Been AWOL for a little while, tiredness a trip to the Mids and a night shift would do that to you ;)

llare Not sure what to suggest, sounds like he did some damage biting like that. It could have caused a blocked duct like was suggested or it could maybe just be tender from trauma? I'd be inclined to let that side rest for a good 24h and see if that makes it better. C keeps biting me, but luckily it's everywhere but boobs I've got a lovely set of tooth marks on my jaw at the moment.

flip Good luck with the viewing

spangle I agree. Glad to hear that you're now sharing some of the household duties. You are, after all, pregnant and that does take it out of you. You definitely need your DH to do his fair share.

rubbish presents The worst present I've ever had in my life was from my MIL. The 1st xmas I ever spent in the UK. I was 21 at the time and she got me this sort of thing. Several of them too . Needless to say they ended up at a charity shop somewhere in no time.
DH used to be very very good at getting presents that I wanted, but recently he's become a bit rubbish. The last few years I've had a few books. I hope next year he comes up with something better. My mum keeps buying me 'useful' presents: kitchen gadgets, pots and pans, tupperware containters,... I did complain last year and it paid off, because this year I got an iPod

stair gates DH temporarily attatched a bottom one, but you can't open it, so I have to keep climbing over it, which is a right pain. With ds and dd1 we never really needed a bottom one, because they got the hang of stairs really quickly and never threw themself of them ever. C discovered how to do stairs last week and kept trying to climb them and resulting in several falls. At least now she's safe.

TMI, but yesterday (strategically planned for my 1st night shift in over a year) AF finally returned after 13m! At least everything is in place now for the day we decide to TTC again. Not sure still how good an idea that is still. My shift on LW yesterday left me with a v. stiff back and pelvis. By the end of the day I walked like I did when I was 6m pregnant . But at least it was all for a good cause as I'm getting closer to getting to band 6 now: I've done my 1st bit of suturing. Only 6 more to go and I can get that competency signed off I think my body would prefer a community job too.

momino · 15/06/2010 22:45

Hi all, just working and came on here for a little break... where is everyone?
luckily,I don't have much to catch up on, hehe.

belgina, it was worth coming on here just to see the 'free standing' lace bowls... omg, what a great... gift...

liking the emoticon today.

Exciting news: i've just bought a dyson during my work time . ours is rubbish, six years old and disintigrating. we also now have a moth problem and I've heard that constant vacuuming will keep the moths at bay so I've been thinking nothing but buying a vacuum all day: i've read reviews, researched different brands, etc, all whilst neglecting my children (dinner was an hour late ). I am so, so, so pathetic, aren't I?

what's worse is that I've bought it mainly because I'm getting my holiday pay this month that I accrued during maternity. So what do I spend some of it on? A Dyson? Yes, I know. 'get a life' I hear you all saying.

Belg, so very impressed at your suturing. were you nervous? that's quite an important job to do(I couldn't!). hope your route to band 6 goes quickly.

ok back to internet shopping work.

febes · 16/06/2010 09:32

Momino a dyson IS very exciting. Our vac is dying but as we are only here a few more months I'm trying to keep the darn thing working.
Belgian well done on the suturing. Must be a difficult area to work with .

I'm off to the library soon and then taking R for his 12 month jabs (a bit late) and then rshing back to go to school to work a half day and then on to tutoring. Busy day!!!

smokeybacon · 16/06/2010 10:53

febes thank you for the reminder. Need to book my R for his too (only 6 weeks late. Ooops) and will now do so!! Hope the jabs go ok and R isn't too traumatised!

Back later....

FiByTheIcySea · 16/06/2010 13:48

dyson we had loads of nectar points so I persuaded dh to get a dyson ball one.. can't remember the model but it's yellow and grey. Truly fantastic vacuum and even with my long tresses falling out everywhere don't bother it. The bottom brush is a breeze to take out when my hair wraps around it so I can easily cut & untangled it when I get it really clogged!
llare owowowow how are your boob & nip today? have you seen the doctor? Hope it's less painful v soon. x
belgina great job on the suturing and surviving the night shift.. how did everyone cope without you at home?
12m injections.. we missed G's as we were on holiday. here we have to wait until we get called again. Hope R doesn't find them too stressful febes

pulapula · 16/06/2010 19:47

Thanks for the reminder febes- need to book S in for his 12 month jabs too.

belgina- well done on the suturing- rather you than me- i am so squeamish.

momino- we have a dyson too so i can understand your excitement and it is a bit of an old model now, but still does a good job not that i have used it myself in 2 or 3 years (except for the odd occasion) as we have our lovely cleaner .

Well we had someone round to value our house today - still can't work out if we want to move or not but thought it was good to know what we could get for the house if we did see something we liked. I think it's convinced me to stay put for a while though, although i will still keep an eye on what comes on the market.

smokeybacon · 16/06/2010 20:43

Yikes, have just bid for a triple buggy on ebay. Its all a bit scary now! I would have preferred to wait a bit, but this buggy is the one I am after and its local. Its this or get it shipped from NZ, and god knows how much that would be. Auction finishes in less than an hour.

febes · 16/06/2010 20:46

R was so brave and only sniffled and then was fine and there was 3 jabs . I gave him some calpol tonight though as he was a bit hot and tearful. He's sleeping nicely now.

He's proper walking now too!! darling boy

smokeybacon · 16/06/2010 20:49

3 jabs!? I did not know that. Poor babies, and well done R for being brave! And claps for walking too.

My R has taken a couple of steps. He is trying sooooo hard. Looks dead pleased with himself when he does. Its so so cute.

41 minutes on auction. Still winning.....

flipflopsattheready · 16/06/2010 22:05

smokey - a friend of mine has one of those buggies, she has hers shipped from NZ. She a singleton and twins just under two years apart.

No dysons in this house, we love our Miele!

Estate agents all fine - 3 valuations, £20k between highest and lowest . Having one more round tomorrow as a kind of check, then we'll need to make a decision. We're looking at another place tomorrow too.

llareggub - hope you are ok today.

belgina - hope you aren't too achey now. Wll done on suturing!

A is running now! She ran onto our road this aafternoon, fortunately it's a private road with no through traffic at all, but I can see us having to get reins. Never had to do that with DD1.

muddleddaizy · 16/06/2010 22:40

Smokey did you win?!?

Dysons we tend to break them!

Flip good luck with the house selling

Llare hows your boob?

Jabs They've started doing the MMR at 12 months now, but I refused to let them do 3 jabs and waited for another month for the MMR. Just thought it was too much in one go.

I've just 1 1/2hrs of ironing! I used to love ironing, but there's so much of it now. Am also feeling quite sorry for myself. My dodgy hip is playing up and now I've got backache as well Added to that ds2 is into everything. Climbing, throwing pictures off walls, emptying bins and a fasination with the toilet. He cannot be left alone for 1 minute! Added to ds1 who talks all the time, I'm drained and weary. Anyhow I'd better head off to bed as I'm working in the morning.

Hope everyone is well.

llareggub · 16/06/2010 23:14

Evening all. Thank you for the kind thoughts regarding my poorly nipple. I am pleased to report that all seems to be well on the boob front and normal service has been returned to DS2.

I'm getting a bit edgy. A while ago we decided not to TTC for various reasons, so I stopped taking my folic acid and we went back to using protection. After 3 months of like clockwork periods, I'm late, bloated, cramping, knackered and have had dodgy boobs. I'm so blinking paranoid that I'm pregnant. I don't want to test in case I get a disappointing result, and to be honest I don't know what result would be disappointing, IYSWIM. DH is in denial and refuses to believe that a pregnancy is a remote possibility! Gah.

Flip good luck with the estate agents. I'm addicted to property porn and I love house-hunting! It is all very stressful though so I hope you are looking out for yourself.

Belgina well done on the suturing. I'm not sure that I could do that, I'd be so nervous!

smokey any news re buggy? Ebay is so, so addictive!

Jabs the MMR is done a month after the 12 month ones here, so no worries about leaving gaps. Isn't it silly that there are such variations in policy?

pula we were supposed to have someone value our house yesterday but I couldn't be bothered to tidy up for it. We're currently debating between moving and extending but whichever we choose, it won't be for ages!

DYson we have one too which is loathed by both boys. I think DH is too as he never seems to touch it.

Right. I'm taking my bloated self off to bed for a relatively early night.

llareggub · 16/06/2010 23:15

Sorry to hear about the hip, muddled. Sounds painful.

febes · 17/06/2010 08:45

Llare TESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!! That is an order..

smokeybacon · 17/06/2010 09:54

llare you best test girl!! Hope you had a good night sleep and the boob is ok.

Didn't win the buggy . Missed it in the last minute by £2!!!!! I couldn't up my bid quick enough. Having researched the ABC, it appears to be the triple of choice of most so we may end up getting a new one. After all DH gets a new car, I should get a new buggy! Our last one was a second hand Mutsy. Its been fab but a new one would be a treat. The shipping costs aren't too bad actually. Less than £70 from NZ.

Off to music class this morning with R. Am hoping he will be showing off his new standing and taking two steps skills !

llareggub · 17/06/2010 13:48

Negative. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

FiByTheIcySea · 17/06/2010 18:02

smoky shame about missing the buggy on ebay.. will keep fingers crossed a better bargain is waiting for you! or just go for it new £70 not too bad shipping cost at all! did R show off his 2steps?
llare i'd have had mixed emotions.. on the one hand relief but also quite disappointed we're not going to TTC but i'd be kinda pleased with an accident as i'm still really broody

muddled how's the hip?

belgina · 17/06/2010 21:06

llare I understand how you must be feeling. I think I'd feel equally If I thought I might be pg, but wasn't. Glad to hear the boob is back in working order.

muddled How are you today? Any more hip paing?

smoky Find yourself one of those sniper bid programs. I hate them, but DH uses them and I think that's why I keep getting outbid on tood things. You've got pleny of time yet to win another bid before the twins arrive

flip We had £50k between the highest and lowest valuation. We sort of knew the higher one was optimistic though and in the end it sold for the lowest. Good luck with the house anyway.

jabs C had hers on Thurs and was fine afterwards. She had her 12m lot a month late too. They're still having them split here: 1 jab at 12m and 2 jabs at 13m

dyson Our first one was a DC07 and absolute rubbish. It kept overheating despite getting a new motor and all sorts. Now we've got a DC04, which is an old 2nd hand one and that one has been brilliant. I remember suffering from acute Dyson envy before I ever had one though DH got me one for xmas one year though and I was over the moon. See, not all housework related presents are bad

suturing It wasn't my own perineum being sutured, so I was fine, lol. Actually, no. I've been putting it off for litterally years, because the prospect of it scares me. Now I've done it once it's going to be OK though.

Had another night shift last night. It was very quiet, LW empty and I was sent to the a/n ward because the mw there went home feeling unwell. All 3 women on there slept all night, so I had a nice night doing some reading and pottering about looking through drawers etc...

belgina · 17/06/2010 21:10

Tood things??? What are they??? Can't even work out what I wanted to say Anyway I was saying that I keep getting outbid on eBay by those bid program things

SpangleMaker · 17/06/2010 22:07

belgina a quiet night on AN ward must be the most peaceful task for a MW! Well done on the perineum. 1 down, 6 to go! Not wishing anyone a tear, of course

hoovers we're a Miele cat dog family here. Nowhere to keep an upright hoover.

muddled hope your back is a bit better.

smokey how annoying to miss out at the last minute. Triple buggies.... I think I'm going to have to google to see how they work. I wouldn't mind getting a P&T but I think I'll be sensible and have my friend's side-by-side buggy. She's hardly used it as her DS1 is a good walker, and the woman she bought it off hardly used it as she couldn't face getting out of the house with two .

llare hope you have come to terms with the test result. I think there is always a tinge of excitement in the heart even when the head says 'no'. We told family last week following the scan, and were honest and admitted the pregnancy wasn't planned. It's funny, it felt odd saying it now as I've got so used to the idea, although I was quite dismayed when I saw the positive test all those weeks ago.

I keep thinking I feel tiny, tiny movements (am 13+2) but at the nuchal scan they told me the placenta is at the front so I'm probably imagining it. Probably wind

flipflopsattheready · 17/06/2010 22:29

evening all!

llareggub - I know how you feel, I had to test last week , and was a bit disappointed with the result. That's what has kind of spurred us on to get the house move sorted, if we want another at some point we really need more space.

Although having said that, still no periods anyway.

spangle - you might be feeling it, you know what to look out for.

belgina - quiet night sounds good!

Our Miele is fab, highly recommend them. we've converted four people so far!

We had one more valuation today, it was another one in the middle of the two which seemsmore realistic so I expect we'll go with it. It's my job tomorrow to try an negotiate the fees, we want a deal!

We're going on holiday on Saturday, cornwall. Can't wait although dreading the journey.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 18/06/2010 13:48

Just sidling on to bookmark to read later - have been laptopless and cannot, just cannot MN from my phone, it's too awkward. Have rescued laptop and will catch up later, I promise.

Hugs all round (and Bakewell Tart as mentioned on my FB (ie. Fat Bint) status).

momino · 18/06/2010 14:16

hi Grumpy, are we on the same MN/FB schedule today?

momino · 18/06/2010 14:38

muddled, I do hope you're feeling better today.

llare, I understand how you're feeling as well. I had a neg test before becoming preg with H. even though I was adament I didn't want to get preg, I was still . obviously, it was inevitable as a month later became preg with H - still adament I didn't want to be preg (fear), had a similar reaction as spangle this time, but allthesame a bit excited.

spangle, so exciting about movement (if impending)!

flip, lucky You going to Cornwall. hope the journey isn't too difficult but the end destination will be worth it! hope you get a chance to relax.

Smokey, still over a TRIPLE buggy! I'd go for a new one.

Belgina, quiet night on the labour ward! are you happy when that happens or a bit bored? I'm sure when we were in with H, it must have been quiet as we had so much attention from the MW and the trainee MW stayed with us the whole time! It was a far cry from the birth of dd2 when we were 'left to it'.

hoover, we had/have a DC07 and found it rubbish. well, we did run it to the ground and used it for things we shouldn't like the fireplace ashes.

I've gone for the DC27 this time, I'm hoping it's as good as its price. funny, it's still sitting unopened in the dining room. I was so desperate for it and now I can't be bothered to open it .

Fi, haha, I do that about posting as well. end up xposting loads. well maybe not so much now that it's fairly quiet on this thread.

I'm having a cuppa tea, a banana bun, and 'Mummy Time'. Girls are in front of Peppa Pig, H sleeping, my US tax returns have been posted though I missed the deadline by 2 days (i just have to file, not pay) - I should be cleaning, doing laundry, parcels ready for birthdays in the US but I'm just enjoying a relaxing moment. sigh.

Almost time to turn on the footie! 3pm match should be exciting.
Hope all are well today.
