Morning all,
First time back in a little while. I've done a bit of lurking, but couldn't summon the energy to do any actual posting.
llare How's the sleep going? C was exactly the same going from incredible sleeping baby to nightmare sleeper at around 6m. It's improved a lot and consistency is definitely the key. Whatever method you choose stick with it. C's one that needs a slowly slowly approach so my 1st step was reducing the amount of night feeds. The first 2-3 nights were though, but I managed to skip the 1 o'clock feed now and the 3 o'clock one. The waking sort of naturally fizzled out when I stopped feeding her and the last month or so she's been going until 5pm quite regularly then feed and then on to 7-7.30 (except for today. It was 6 )
What we're struggling with now is cutting out the dream feed This week is the 1st week she doesn't wake at midnight when I try to skip it. She's waking at 2 am instead and then gets upset when I don't feed her. I'm thinking about re-introducing it again for a bit, because I've got 4 night shifts coming up in 2 weeks time and I think it'll be easier for DH and the ap to feed her at 11, knowing that more than likely she'll go on until 5.
smokey Can't remember whether I've said it earlier, but Yay to the CVS results . Your funny turn does sound like low bp to me too. It's fairly common to get that in the 2nd trimester. With DS mine was so bad that I went to the GP who told me to stop driving. This was pre tesco online groceries and dh was away half the time and I was new in this country, so I told her what to do with that advice.
tummum Also a vote for a cottage. We've got a caravan and I couldn't imagine having to set it all up with the dcs and a poorly DH in tow. Actually it's the packing and the driving that would bother me. Once you're at the campsite there are usually plenty of people willing to help with the setting up (in my experience). I've never towed a caravan in my life, because I find it quite scary!
couch to 5k Hats of to you girls. It sounds like hard work to me.
york meet* Sounds like you all had a lovely time. I loved, loved, LOVED reading all the descriptions. I can just picture it all. If only London wasn't inbetween. I'm pretty sure York wouldn't be all that far for me if I didn't have to get past that little obstacle.
world cup
flip Love your new name
I never paint my toe nails. I hate my feet and think that painting my toenails does nothing to make them better, on the contrary, it just draws attention to to them.
siblings We're quite lucky with ds and dd1. They tend to get along 90% of the time. DS is such a mild mannered boy that any arguments get sorted quickly. He just gives in to dd1 or walks away from it. Both the eldest tend to ignore C most of the time. There's too much of an age difference for there to be too much of an issue with toy sharing etc... The eldest will just take away anything breakable/tearable/dangerous from C and stuff something less interesting safer into her little hands instead. Dd1 has stopped trying to get her (never played with) baby doll away from C now too, because she knows that she's fighting a losing battle there + deep down she knows she's not into dolls. C on the other hand LOVES that baby doll. It's the only word she can say and the only thing she actually looks for when you say "where is...."
Oh and finally. For those of you who haven't seen my f/b status. Here's something to give you a laugh: According to the ap's sister (who is apparently the font of all knowledge regarding child rearing, although she is childless herself) all Dutch babies sleep through from 3 mo. Everyone in rl who I've talked to just burst out laughing when I told them that. No words, just laughs (mostly hollow)
Gosh. This was a mamoth catch up post. But everyone else in this household is still asleep (minus C), so I thought I'd take advantage
