Just over 2 weeks to go . Fine except for horrendous sciatica and dh going to be away for the next 2 weeks so I have to look after the dc on my own whilst hardly able to move!

hello all, am back from holiday and back in work... so back on MN

took Emma to stay with my mum for the week and was extremely lazy all week and Em loved being with Granny. Took this photo which i can't resist sharing, its my favourite one so far.... Emma

we're two weeks into DH's 3 week trip away and it was really good to get away to break it up.

pepper, glad the op went well, hope your recovery is swift.

CSWS 2 weeks... crikey that's really coming up quickly! I would offer to help you out.. but erm... am stuck in an office in central london and DH is away too...

Pistachio - i will keep 19th Sept in mind as its about an hour's drive for me... only thing is i will be 36+4 then and that's the day that Emma arrived

coconutfeet · 14/06/2010 19:17

Lovely pic Ksal. What a cutie.

Is that where your mum lives? Dp is heading up to the broads for a stag do this weekends. He's so unused to drinking these days that I've got horrible visions of him having a few drinks and falling over the side of their boat.

Hi Jenwa!

Star - Any more news on your dp's work situation? I really hope it's all cleared up soon and he passes everything OK. It must be so stressful for both of you.

Right, have to stop dithering and do a Tescos order.

jenwa · 14/06/2010 19:35

???????coconutfeet??? Ok so a name change I am thinking??? See serves me right not being around much!

ksal lovely pic, how cute is she!

so 19th Sept? Where abouts? be nice to see you all again.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2010 20:28

Jenwa - coconutfeet was aubergenie. 19th Sept is 3pm onwards at Latimer Place, Chesham, Buckinghamshire - pistachio is down on an NCT course which finishes then, so is available for dinner/drinks with whoever can make it.

I did wonder abour coconut but could not find it searching all I had missed!

Thanks for info on meet up will see if can make it.

StarExpat · 15/06/2010 09:06

Jenwa - definitely come to it! I've not met you yet

cf - His assessor is very meticulous and has taken all necessary steps and nitpicked out everything possible that he has ever screwed up on or not done perfectly. Hopefully he passes his last one. I'll fb message you later about other details. He isn't in a union and for some reason isn't joining one... cost, I think, but I'd pay out every single penny we have at this point for this.

csws - Do you feel like the baby is dropping?

KSal · 15/06/2010 09:58

yes, coconutfeet, she's about a 5 minute walk from the beach, we're very lucky to have a granny by the sea!! She moved down from Aberdeen just after Emma was born... so much easier for us to get to!

its a beautiful area... looking forward to many (cheap) holidays there

Star - fingers crossed for you... such a stressful situation.

Star - she sounds like an utter cow. How awful for you both.

I know I keep going on about it but not joining a union is a massive false economy. He really, really should. If not for this situation, what if a pupil decided to make an allegation against him, or if something went wrong on a school trip? They'd help him with his legal costs. Unfortunately I know several people who have been in the first situation, and know of people who have been in the second. Horrendous situation to be in, and without backup, even worse. BUt I'm sure you know all that.

(Plus, my union gives you loads of discounts on all sorts of things from coffee shops to holidays. It doesn't cover the cost but softens the blow somewhat!

Ksal - My parents are in south Norfolk. Also nice but not as nice as the Broads. what a lovely place to be able to head to for weekends. (I'm too scared to move out there permanently!)

Hello Jenwa! Yes, it's me, aubergenie!

ronshar · 15/06/2010 21:38

Hello.
I have been pretending I am young and free for the weekend. I went to the Isle of Wight festival. Fantastic time away from the children. [bad mummy]

CSWS, I didnt realise you were a church attender.

Pistachio, I shall try my hardest to get up to see you in Sept. I even promise to not make any smart arse comments about NCT. Probably a good thing if the hotel is full of NCT ladies.

Jenwa good to see you back again. Its amazing how much time you have in the evening when it isnt spent on here!!!

Myjob are your fingers sore from sowing in name tags yet? How was B's football? I bet he looks very cute in his footie kit.

Ksal. I hope you are looking after yourself while your dh is away. Lovely pic of E.

Star I agree with CF. Encourage your DH to join the union. I dont agree with unions as a general principle but I have always joined the nhs unions in every job I have had because fate has a way of catching you unawares and the union will look after you. It is about protecting yourself just in case. If he is the union then she wont be able to fail him without a huge amount of hard evidence. I do hope it works out ok for him.
How is Q now, better?

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/06/2010 21:49

ronshar - we don't go to church v often these days as the dc are a bit too wild (dd climbed into the pulpit whilst the old vicar was giving his sermon from the church floor when she was little!!), but don't forget that we have chosen a C of E school for dd too (and dh used to be a bible basher in his youth ).

OP posts:
ronshar · 15/06/2010 21:57

Did he wear sandals and socks

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/06/2010 22:01

Brilliant

Honeymoonmummy · 16/06/2010 20:06

Hi all, need help with symptoms, Pops had high temp last 2 nights, chesty and snuffly with cough and cold and now come out in spots over chest, arms and bum, less so on back. Doesnt look like heat rash...ideas anyone? They don't seem to be itchy. I'm catching her cold so worried it's something contagious and I'm due in London in the morning!

jenwa · 16/06/2010 20:43

HM Has the rash got any worse? IT could be a non specific viral infection if she has a cold and cough, has she a high temp now? If she is better in herseld it is more than likley a non specific rash but it is best to check. Have you called NHS direct, they can always give you some advice if you concerned?

StarExpat · 16/06/2010 20:45

what do the spots look like? Can you post a pic?

Honeymoonmummy · 16/06/2010 21:07

She doesn't have a temp, just checked it. She's asleep now so I can't take a pic. I've googled scarlet fever and measles and it doesn't look like that. Looks a bit like chicken pox but they're not that angry, they're red spots but not angry red and she's not been itching. I've not called NHS direct, tried MN first I've told DH to take her to the docs if they're still there in the morning but I'm off to London overnight tomorrow morning (not got any free time to meet anyone hence didn't mention it).

Honeymoonmummy · 16/06/2010 21:08

If it's chicken pox should I stay home? Isn't it dangerous for pregnant women or is that something else? I'd better call NHS direct.

Honeymoonmummy · 16/06/2010 21:09

I had it when I was a kid. Does that mean I can't carry/ transmit it? If so it might not be chicken pox as I do seem to have picked up her cold/ cough.

StarExpat · 16/06/2010 21:12

Yes you have to keep her home from nursery if it's cp. And yes, it can be dangerous in 1st trimester and is dangerous for old people who haven't yet had it (elderly old).

Chickenpox starts out really mild looking then they swell up. Q's looked nothing like the photos on the internet. They start out like just little spots.

You won't be contagious unless you get it.
I had cp when I was a baby. I had it again when I was 26. It can happen twice. But unlikely.
