CSWS - excellent news!

KSal · 04/06/2010 22:27

yay CSWS... big relief!

coconutfeet · 05/06/2010 08:08

Wonderful CSWS! You must feel so much better! Must have been all that hanging off the windowsill.

Myjob - very exciting news too!

StarExpat · 05/06/2010 08:32

ah well Great news csws

Good luck at the interview myjob!

Going to look at this cottage again today and will bring a builder with us for a 3rd look during next week at some point. Do you think that's overkill? I just need to be sure...

So fed up. I just want to move into a flat or something with 2 bedrooms leasehold I don't even care anymore. just need another room.

How is your ttc going, aubergenie?

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2010 15:28

How did the 2nd viewing go star?

Has everyone been enjoying the sunshine this weekend? It's been a bit hot for me, but the dc have had a lovely time playing in the garden with the 50ft dc, whilst we've relaxed in the house.

Dd now at a party and ds asleep, and the 50fts on their way home, so I'm having a sit down for 5 mins.

Get well soon Myjob.

at coming home to birdsong Pistachio. I haven't had a night like that since S was born. Not so {envy] at the hangover though. Lucky your dh is so obliging!

Star - I think going again with a builder is a good idea. What did you think of the place second time round? As for my TTC adventures, well, no news yet. Having done a bit of research I'm pretty sure that all the BFing was having an impact on my fertility. This is the first month that we've cut out the daytime feeds so I'm just waiting to see if it has an impact on my charts. I've cut out caffeine and have been force-feeding dp with brazil nuts, and am taking a few supplements. I'm probably going to cut out alcohol next month (caffeine was hard enough!). Having said all that, I feel reasonably relaxed about it, as I know how lucky we are to have S. Another baby would be a huge bonus.

Back to school tomorrow. Ugh.

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2010 22:37

Hi all. I'm back from a wonderful week of camping in Anglesey, so relaxing, don't want to go back to work tomorrow though

My hours should settle down a bit now so I'll have more time for MN. I am completely out of date with you all now, any chance of a recap MyJob??

Coconutfeet are you a newcomer or a name-changer??

Hope everyone is well. Are there any meet-ups planned?

50ftQueenie · 06/06/2010 22:43

Right, just popping in to say we had a lovely weekend with the CSWSs. M's most used word was probably either 'no' or 'mine!' mainly used when fighting with D over food or small toys!

Myjob - Sorry you're ill again. It's a never ending cycle for you. Hope N's ear is better soon.

Pistachio - Yay for fab night out with your friends. It's good to reminisce and relive your youth!

Star - Sorry I've not replied about the mortgage/financial advice. To be honest, I think you've probably had the best advice! The mortgage market has contracted drastically over the past couple of years so there isn't a lot available now.

CF - Ah, for me it's hurrah! Back to school tomorrow.

CSWS - Thank you again for a lovely weekend. Twas very relaxing. I see you have become a fan of Snugglebots.....

Pepper - Tee hee, I threatened to put DS in the shed as his bedroom is too messy to house a human being.

StarExpat · 07/06/2010 08:42

I hope you feel better soon, myjob. Not nice being ill after having so many sleepless nights!

Q said 5 new words this morning. But wouldn't repeat them when I tried to get him to... typical.

Let's meet up sometime after June 18th. I'm busy 22nd and 23rd with some meetings just a couple of hours each day, but then totally free after that.

We may be going to the US to see our families/friends at the beginning of August. I can get one plane ticket to my home country reimbursed annually from my school for me, so we'd just have to pay for dh's and Q is free at the moment as he's under 2. We can stay with bil and sil and nephew who is 13 months right now. So wouldn't have to pay for much and I guess it's worthwhile as we never see any of them, but I'm very, very concerned about the 5-6 hour flight with a toddler... he's never sat down for that long before.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2010 10:04

I can't commit to June/July meet ups at the moment, for obvious reasons, but will make any that are arranged if I'm able to.

Q won't sit down for a 5 hour flight star. There are lots of threads with tips on for getting him to sit down for some of it, but you and dh will need to accept that he will wander around the plane for a good portion of it, closely followed by one of you! It will be tedious, but hopefully will be worth it to see your family.

50ft - I had a rare look at a news feed on fb last night (usually confine myself to status updates) and saw your comment to the snugglebots page, and of course I went for a nose and was hooked! I still have no idea what is meant to be used for what, or what's for sale and what isn't, but she does produce some lovely stuff and I want it all!

We noticed last night that ds has acquired 2 more canines over the last couple of days, so that might have contributed to him not eating as much as usual and the night time tears the other night too.

Glad you had a good holiday hmm.
I would have thought that it was obvious who cf is, but she was our resident purple vegetable!

50ftQueenie · 07/06/2010 10:33

CSWS - here you go! Feast your eyes! I'll help you if you need it. Julie does lots of fleece nappy covers which you use like an ordinary wrap or wool, but it can be slung in the washing machine with the nappies so is easier to look after than wool. Myjob only uses fleece over fitteds in the day. Julie also does lots of gorgeous clothing that would fit P too! It's all custom made and Julie is a VERY good seamstress.

pepperrabbit · 07/06/2010 10:36

50ft - I worry about how you will cope when M potty trains!
Very happy here as everyone has returned to school and pre-school and DD and I are now enjoying a quiet day at home.

50ftQueenie · 07/06/2010 10:37

Worry not Pepper. I am less obsessed with nappies and more obsessed with wool etc these days so it won't be a problem. Thank you for your concern. I too am enjoying the peace and quiet.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2010 10:43

And were they wool interlock longies that M was in yesterday morning? Was she in age 1-2? The bottoms folded up quite well didn't they, so if I ordered a bigger size for D he would still be able to fit in them with a couple of turn ups?

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 07/06/2010 10:51

The ones she was in yesterday were from here but yes, they were wool interlock. You need to lanolise wool interlock like you do ordinary wool. For D, you'd probably need an extra large and then you can tailor them to D's inseam so they'll fit perfectly.

StarExpat · 07/06/2010 11:24

I was worried about you potty training, too, 50ft. Glad to hear you've got a new obsession to take over.

I'll have a look at sites for tips on plane trips. Someone already told me I was nuts for even considering it... Surely people do this all the time? I guess I can't say I remember toddlers on my flights I've taken previously, but then again, I was childless at that point and more concerned with my own entertainment.

I do remember a woman trying to quiet a baby once near me... and I offered to hold the baby. I was very relaxed, so the baby calmed right down. The mother was stressed from trying to quiet the baby so she asked if I could keep holding her. She was tiny, newborn stage, so I didn't mind at all

No one is going to hold Q and keep him quiet, are they?

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2010 11:28

That would be wishful thinking star!

Why do I need to lanolise wool interlock? Can I not just treat them as normal trousers? What would happen if I did?

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 07/06/2010 11:31

star, we flew when DS2 was 5 months and DS1 was 2.3, and it was fine, then again the next year for a 4 hour flight. The trick as I recall was to have a supply of small "new" things to hand out gradually, enabling a "ta-da!" point of distraction. Perfectly do-able, and worth it see your family.
Also small boys LOVE airports/aeroplanes/complete strangers etc! Also as Q's still in nappies you won't have to visit the toilets 8,000 times an hour.

pepperrabbit · 07/06/2010 11:32
CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2010 11:46

These are the ones that I love for D 50ft, but they aren't shown on the actual website.

Wrap up all of the small new things too star, so that he gets to do lots of unwrapping to take up time too (but remember to take a bag for all the rubbish!). And have sticker books and colouring pencils. And get him a trunki for at the airport.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 07/06/2010 12:04

CSWS - You can use them as normal trousers but they won't work as a nappy cover. But that's fine if you weren't going to use them that way! Ask Julie to dye you some like that picture. I am sure she will! Beth from LLS might be a better bet as she will definitely be able to dye fabric to ANY colour choice. She also has the option of wool interlock, bamboo interlock, bamboo jersey bamboo fleece...... The list goes on and they can all be dyed to whatever colours you choose. Beth's list is longer so you'll wait a while, Julie's is usually shorter but as these are custom made things, you will wait a while no mater who you go to.

Star - We took DS to Spain when he was 15 months and it was awful. He just wanted to play which was tricky because there was nowhere for him to go. I would suggest seeing if you can get seats with a space in front so he can have a little bit of room to wander about in front of you rather than having to chase him all over the plane. I will be watching to see what tips actually work as we have to do the same trip in October.

StarExpat · 07/06/2010 12:25

ooh thanks! Good suggestions! Thanks so much!!
What's a trunki?
I'll be your guinea pig, 50ft. Good idea. Should I request a fire exit, then?
