oh good cf! Glad to know that reaction wasn't crazy, then as normal people do it, too!

coconutfeet · 02/06/2010 19:39

Star. They must get so many calls from neurotic first time parents like us. S is so rarely ill that I'm a bit clueless when it does happen. I'm sure it just gets easier with experience.

StarExpat · 02/06/2010 21:39

found a lovely cottage that needs quite a bit of work but we really like it today.... Going for a 2nd viewing on saturday

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/06/2010 22:48

Ooh exciting star - where is it? Can we have a link (on here or fb)?

You didn't imagine the moxibustion cf. Went for some last week and been using the moxa at home daily since, but still no joy.

for B's night terrors myjob. Must be horrible when there's so little that you can do to help.

cf - I was told by nhs direct that febrile convulsions can start at 39.3 (although mine have had higher temps than that without having them thankfully) so it may be that S was close to one when you thought that he was having a fit.

pistachio - who are we trying to kid? The baby will prob still end up sleeping in a sling or in my bed!

There aren't any pics. Just a weird one of the outside and one of the garden - none can be taken of the inside because the situation is that the woman passed away and there is stuff everywhere - very untidy...etc. It's a 3 bed terraced cottage with a lovely garden Needs a lot of work, but we're going back on saturday to find out how much work it will need. It's only about 15 minutes from where I work and Q's cm and a lovely little area with a small boots, a grocery story (small one), post office, duck pond...etc within walking distance.

If it's too much work, then we'll have to keep looking, though. We'll see...

lol csws - it's so much easier to have a bf baby in bed with you, true.

myjob how was your night? Is ds doing any better? How awful for you

The place has an issue with the chimney, which put a previous potential buyer right off, after having a survey done... hmmm, maybe not hte property for us, then. No more in this price range of course. Oh well.

myjob - can you bring N in with you and have dh sleep in with B? Or vice versa? Just until the night terrors and night wakings calm a bit? I know it sounds extreme, but it may give you all more rest?

What a shame Star - I was all excited for you. Is a major problem or is it something you could negotiate the price down and get fixed?

We went to Green Park today. It was lovely apart from the pelican which wandered into the children's play area causing a bit of a stir.

Dp out tonight, so I'm having a feast of all the food he hates, and which I therefore never normally eat - just eaten a bunch of asparagus with hollandaise sauce and a bowl of mussels. Yum!

Interesting what you said about the febrile convulsions CSWS. I wonder if he was on the cusp. Does anyone know what you should do if your dc has them?

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/06/2010 21:56

Er, panic cf?

I don't know the correct answer, but guess I'd try to make sure that he was somewhere soft (middle of my bed) whilst I called 999 for help.
I bet ronshar knows, if she hasn't totally deserted us.

Do you know the details of the chimney issue star? Could you get a builder to quote for fixing it properly, and then try to get that knocked off the price?

Am teary this evening about prospect of baby not turning and having a c-section and all the practical hassles that that will cause, let alone the emotional ones. Think I'll go to bed in a few minutes and hope that I wake up more cheerful.

Sorry to hear that CSWS. I don't know what to say but I really hope things seem less upsetting in the morning.

I'm not entirely averse to a breech birth pistachio, but I'm guessing that the hospital will be. I don't know a lot about them tbh, so if you have any specialist knowledge then I'd love to hear it. I do intend to ask the consultant about the possibility tomorrow. I don't want to put the baby at unnecessary risk just to suit my idealised birth preferences and hassle factor for the first few weeks, but don't know exactly what those risks might be.

Right, def off to bed now, as want to hang upside down off my windowsill for a few mins before going to sleep!

50ftQueenie · 03/06/2010 22:47

Hello.... I am here but..... It's half term.... Ugh.

That is also probably why Ronshar is AWOL.......

StarExpat · 04/06/2010 07:33

Dh is enjoying his half term at home with Q. Only two more weeks for me after today until I'm off for the summer!! Hooray!

KSal · 04/06/2010 10:23

CSWS I hope you're being careful on that windowsill!!
i really hope that your baby turns in time, I know i would be worrying in your position.

myjob... poor DS

my DH is away for 3 weeks (we're 1 week in) so i me and Em are off to stay with my mum for a week tomorrow. It'll be like a mini holiday as she's by the sea. I won't be around til after that.

StarExpat · 04/06/2010 10:29

What fun, ksal Are you taking a week off work, too? I hope so - indulge in having your mum around and being by the sea!! x

pepperrabbit · 04/06/2010 10:50

Morning,
Hope you're feeling better this morning CSWS - or are you still hanging off the window sill????
50ft (and ronshar?) I am dreading the summer holidays already . By wed evening I was ready to lock DS2 in a cellar and leave him there till he's 35.... luckily for him we don't have a cellar .
They were bickering, squabbling, screaming, crying....... and that was about 9.30am.
I find taking all 3 out miserable and extremely impractical on my own, Thank goodness i get to go to work 2 days a week!
star, i def think you should get a builders quote for the chimney, if this is the best way to the space you need, then you can spend some time doing the work to get it to the standard you want.

StarExpat · 04/06/2010 11:30

It is much more peaceful with just one For me, it's an escape from the bickering and squabbling of 16 young children and home to the oasis of one toddler, who, although can be tantrumy and whingy, is definitely loads easier than 16 all with different needs, wants and personalities. And I'm under no pressure to make sure Q learns specific skills by a specific deadline, either.
So from my perspective, summer holidays = bliss.
I do feel for you though, pepper and those in your situation. It's good that you can escape to a child-free place twice per week to save your sanity! I'm having lunch now, and I have a very unhappy 7 year old sitting in my room because he's gotten himself into so much trouble today. At the moment I'm pretending to do some quick, important work while he writes an apology letter.

pepperrabbit · 04/06/2010 11:43

LOL -such a different perspective! (and BTW MN is important work!)
I need to teach DS2 how to handle DH and DH how to handle DS2 all by the time we go on holiday in august... they both iNSIST on having the Last Word. It drives me up the wall (or to tears if I'm pre-menstrual) and they just shout louder and louder at each other till DH picks up DS2 and shuts him in the utility room . I tell him to walk away, but he just can't apparently. It's hard to tell which is 4 and which 40 sometimes.

Yes, turned on its own. Not actually sure when, as didn't feel it, but went for appt this morning to try and arrange ECV, and obv mw checked position, and wasn't sure (thought it had a bottom at the top and the bottom of my bump!), so got registrar in to do mini-scan, which showed clearly head down. Sooooo relieved!
