We filled up a thread without even noticing!

Primary school outcome for dd today . They say that the emails will be sent out by 6pm (though may take longer to get through to us).

Trunki (diff designs have diff prices).
You won't be allowed a fire exit with a toddler.

Ah, true. Maybe the front of the section, then.

Star - we are doing a 9.5 hour flight with dd and ds to Vancouver in August, followed by a 1.5hr ferry to Vancouver Island (plus there'll be transfer between the airport & ferry, so all in all a VERY long trip ). We did it last year as well. They don't sit still - but look at it as a good way of keeping you on your feet and helping avoid DVT . Maybe brave somewhere like poundland for cheap toys etc to take in a bag for him and put him in pull ups if poss as they are much easier to change in the toilets than nappies (unless you are an expert at changing nappies when Q is standing.

We had dd's 3rd birthday party yesterday - pirate themed! She loved it and wanted all her friends back again today. I'll put some pics up on fb tonight if I get a chance - ds made a v cute pirate if I do say so myself....

StarExpat · 07/06/2010 14:12

But how does one change a poo in pull ups? Genuine question.

Oh pistachio that's an excellent idea! We could ask to be seated quite far apart so that people can have a break from him. And while it's my turn, dh gets a break, while his turn, I get a break.... this is looking good.

Poor little N, myjob Did you get ab's for you, too?

Star - My friend recently did a flight to South Africa with her ds ( about the same age as ours) and she was dreading it. They did a night flight and it was absolutely fine - he slept for a large part of the journey. Could you do that? She did was CSWS suggested and had loads of presents wrapped up and put things in his pocket to keep him entertained. And they got a Trunki which she said was the perfect size.

I went to Primark to get some cheap summer clothes for S. Which was great until we were about to leave and I realised that he'd thrown his shoe out of his buggy, and I couldn't find it anywhere. Unfortunately it was his Clarks shoe and not his cheap croc-a-like. So all the money I saved was wiped out. Gah!

Re pull-ups, tear down the side Star and then change like a normal nappy. I am just useless at getting a new nappy all straight and leak-proof when they are standing up!

My parents have bought the the dc trunkis for their birthdays. We definitely found the overnight leg of the trip much easier on the way home, though I have to admit that we didn't sleep much so the kids were pretty awake when we got home, while we just wanted to go to bed! You may or may not be given the front seats - it depends on how many people have little babies who need the cots.

CF, how awful about the shoe. Typical it would be the expensive one....

CSWS, a bit late, but great news about the baby turning.

StarExpat · 08/06/2010 11:58

oh cool, I didn't know pull ups tore down the side. There are cots? Never seen them on planes - and I've flown a lot. Amazing how oblivious to this sort of thing I was pre-Q!

Ekka · 08/06/2010 13:56

They are only for quite little ones - they clip them on after take-off if you ask. We used them for our overnight trips when the dc were little.

Ds is getting 4 pre-molars all at once so has been running a temp and off his food since yesterday . Mind you it's about time he got some more teeth!

StarExpat · 08/06/2010 14:30

oh yes I wouldn't think Q would be able to go in an airline cot at this age Just surprised they have them.

pepperrabbit · 08/06/2010 14:32

afternnon all, am slowly sinking into an extremely bad mood as i have my operation tomorrow. The hernia bit doesn't bother me - will be nice to have an inny tummy button again instead of one that sticks out of Tshirts. it's the colonoscopy i know it's the best way to find out what is wrong (if anything), it's just about absolutely the worst thing - except perhaps someone sticking needles in my eyeballs maybe - anyway.
Have eaten my last meal and am now trying to get everthing organised for the children for the next 2 days I'll be incapacitated for
added to DD waking up with sticky eyes to go with her constant cold, I took her to the docs as it's been 6 weeks her nose has run for and she's had a cough - she's got antibiotics and eye drops! oops - should have gone earlier maybe!
DH is quite relaxed about everything - but then he's never done the school run with all 3 on his own before though...

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/06/2010 14:45

Good luck for tomorrow pepper. Enjoy the 2 days off .

Pepper. I don't know what to say. Can they put you to sleep for the colonoscopy? I would definitely ask for that.

csws - you're going to have a little tiny bundle soon!! Do you go on your antenatal thread much? Has anyone on there had theirs yet?

pepperrabbit · 08/06/2010 18:36

oh they are putting me to sleep! (temporarily i hope!) either procedure on it's own could be done under sedation or a local but both together needs a general.
The horrid bit is the "preparation" and tbh the whole concept .
But I have 3 small children and the grown up thing to do is to make sure i'm ok for them.

coconutfeet · 08/06/2010 19:03

Good luck pepper - hope it's not too bad and that at least you'll get some well-earned rest.

50ftQueenie · 08/06/2010 20:05

Pepper - It will be fine, all will be O-K. It needs to be done so you have no choice, no sense in getting wound up about it. Good luck,

StarExpat · 08/06/2010 20:10

Good you'll be asleep. You won't even know it's happening. The concept is scary, but the end result will be for the best.

Ds is hysterical tonight. He has been screaming for about 1 hour now and scratching away, rubbing his nose and eyes. He's been having calpol and calprufen throughout the day and we've tried dentinox. No temp now, he just can't get himself to sleep (can't suck his thumb cos his nose is blocked). I'm at my wits end now.... Poor little chap. Dh is currently trying to calm him - sounds like he's having no luck, so I'd better try again - could be a long night.
