Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mamamuffin · 15/05/2010 20:33

Fingers crossed for all of you ttc this month! I will try and circualte the cyber magic (but not for me, I hope!!!) Hope the pain clears up carrie, I think I would ask for endoscopy for peace of mind if I were you.
Thanks for your knid words about my todays dilema. I am feeling better as the neighbour has sent over a couple of party bags and we both apologised. Ds1 has hopefully learnt his lesson too. Peace just as I like it.

Now did I mention that ds2 (baby e) is not only talking but has been in a toddler bed all week. (for most but not all of the night). I have not got him all thru yet, but its progress. I converted his cot last week. For all of thoses co sleepers out there. Now is a little window if you want to get them out before the terrible twos approach.

Night Night all you muffin munchers

Pacita · 15/05/2010 20:54

Carrie the mumsnet due date calculator says 13th of Jan. I can't quite believe it yet. And I feel fine! No sore boobs, no nausea (maybe a bit this afternoon), not overly tired... I think it must be because it's early days, no?

Debi my house is on the market, but in order not to loose the house we want again, we are borrowing from parents, using all our savings, and bending over backwards to buy outside a chain. We will eat baked beans (when on offer) and go foraging (Hopefully, advice will be needed) until we sell the house. Gulp. Are we mad?

Pacita · 15/05/2010 20:56

And well done on a talking toddler mamamuffin!

Diego still more of a babbler than a talker, although we are slowly beginning to recognise some words (or maybe we just imagine we do)...

CappuccinoCarrie · 15/05/2010 21:01

Love that hopefully could give foraging advice!

pacita I didn't get pg symptoms til past 6 week, before then there was nothing, just a lack of AF symptoms! If we conceive this month then I'd be 31st Jan...here's hoping (but not very likely, not least coz I was away for the weekend I ovulated!)

mama I'll try and get an endoscopy but I don't know if I'd be referred to a consultant first or not - its surgery under GA so I'm guessing they have to be pretty sure of the diagnosis before going in there.

Right, ELC wish list written, time to get wasing up! Can you believe I went to town twice today, with my birthday vouchers, and didn't even set foot in the right shops to spend them? Did have fish and chips for lunch though

Who was the name changer on the previous page?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/05/2010 21:57

Name changer was me! Got bored with my nic as it refers back to my cat, who, bless him, died 3 years ago. I also love love love Terry Pratchett's discworld novels and all the really good names were gone.

Can you guess? I love my funpod and am also a muffin muncher

Ninja the shoes arrived, along with the slippers. many thanks, that was so kind of you. C went bonkers when she saw the shoes, she loves black shoes and we've had her in white ones for months since she went up to 3.5.
We got her feet measured today. Left foot is only just a 3.5 and right foot about 3 or 4 weeks off size 4. So no buying new shoes yet, which is why Ninja's shoes come in so very handy.

She loves my crocs but I can't find croclings in a size 4 for the summer anywhere. Any ideas?

And many congrats Pacita, well done! Boy am I broody. Have done my maths and reckon we could, just, about afford it if we extend our mortgage term and save hard. the problem now it seems is DP. He is not saying no but he's not overly keen to say yes either. I am 38 yrs and 1 month, so my time is running out!!

Carrie went into Lakeland today but they had no silicone muffing tins in Bought C a children's apron instead - it swamps her!

DP did put her new slide together. Bloody hell its big! Will last till she's 6 or 7 i reckon. We also found proper UV sunglasses she will wear, yay!!

Have you guessed yet?? Length of post should give it away!

digitalgirl · 15/05/2010 22:19

Congratulations pacita how wonderful to get all this good news at once!

Mamamuffin is the toddler bed in a different room? Do you put him to bed in it or do you wait till he's asleep and then move him? And does he wake up in the middle of the night and cry for you or just get up and join you?

carrie how goes the extension?

iltmimi v cute about the bunny sign despite the traumatic mouse corpse throwing.

fp hope your dd gets better v soon.

starlight am sure you'll be a master cake baker soon.

DS has been turning bedtime into a challenge again, where evenings have just become one long bedtime. We start around 7:30. Today he eventually fell asleep at 9:30. Same yesterday but he still woke up at 6am with only an hours nap. Just don't want him getting sleep deprived.

In every other way he is great. We planted tomatoes, runner beans and an aubergine plant today (ds helped 'didding' until he decided throwing soil in the air was much more fun). We also sowed seeds for coriander, dill, zinnias, celery, beetroot and courgettes. Ds for some reason has known the word 'seed' for a couple of months, even though today was the first day we've sown seeds. All insects are 'bees'. And he's started saying 'oops' when he drops things which is very very cute (although it comes out oot).

Meglet · 15/05/2010 22:33

Double congrats pacita.

carrie Sorry you are suffering at the moment.

debi I didn't go into Debenhams actually. Just toy shops and the very nice Italian Deli we have in town, mmmmm rosemary bruschetta and melty middle choc bics . They've nearly all been eaten already.

Msarch... I've realised who you are now. RIP little cat.

We had a fun afternoon, the local trading standards team were doing car seat checks at the fire station so I took the DC's down there to make sure I am still doing them properly (for all his faults XP was great at instructions and using brute force to secure things) and both seats were done properly . So to celebrate we went to Toys R us for the first time ever and I bought another set of Duplo for DS, I was planning to stock up on Amazon but it doesn't seem to be cheap anywhere so I thought I'd just get him it all this weekend and we're done. Both the dc's were speechless at Toys R us so it was a suprisingly painless experience. And then my sister popped round so she kept an eye on them while I strimmed and mowed the back garden, it was turning into a wildlife haven round the edges .

D&S It's at times like this you wish you had AC to write snotty letters for you . Glad it's being sorted out.

becaroo · 16/05/2010 11:18

Pacita Congratulations on the pregnancy and the house!!!!!! Very pleased for you. I didnt feel pregnant til week 6 either.

D&S Sounds hopeful??? fingers crossed for you.

mamamuffin · 16/05/2010 19:25

Hi guys. I am so pleased the weekend is over (because I have been working!)
Just popping thru quickly befor the bed routines!
Dig I still bf in my nursing chair in baby e bedroom. When he passes out or eyes glaze over I transfer him to the toddler bed. I sneak out of room (this might be straight away or several attempts depending on his mood or concious level!)
I enjoy my evening, go to bed. I usually hear a coffuffle or wimper at some point early hours (No baby monitor is used) at which I bring him into bed. I know I should leave him to self settle. But as he is not in the safety of a cot I cant really trust him. However, I am happy for cuddles then and we both drift off again. Its only been a week so I think I have to be more restraint in fetching him and hopefully he will go thru.
Oh and we have two pair of crocs from next size 4-5. (Ds is a 5 and they fit perfectly). I know who you are ladyarchanc what a mouth full!
Night all xxxxxxxx

DebiTheScot · 16/05/2010 19:52

Meglet where's that deli? Sounds very yum, think I should try it out next time i'm there. And I can't believe you've never been to Toys r us before! I can imagine how amazing it must have been for them. I also found nowhere was cheap for duplo and they do have a good selection there.

Meglet · 16/05/2010 21:10

debi just sent you a fb link to the deli. I only get to pop in when I don't have a pushchair with me so it's a real treat. They stock chocolate cantuccini biscuits which I use in a tiramisu style pudding. They do fresh sandwiches and some sliced meats too I think. It's one of the few shops we have that is a local business so I try to buy the odd item from there and not just give my money to Mr Sainsburys.

I'm such a cruel mum that we don't usually do toy stores , I don't think they even knew such a thing existed until yeterday. It's a PITA that Duplo isn't cheap isn't it, but at least it won't get broken and one lost piece doesn't matter.

dg Your gardening session sounds like fun. I think the weather is finally going to perk up this week so things might start growing.

Just out of nosy-ness is any still bf apart from mamamuffin? I'm not but would be very impressed (and cheered) by anyone who is .

Pacita · 16/05/2010 21:57

HI meglet, I only stopped BFing 6 weeks ago, because I had to take antibiotics for a rather nasty urine infection. DS was very clingy for a while, but has now forgotten about it. With hindsight, it's probably a good thing I stopped when I did!

DebiTheScot · 16/05/2010 22:04

Got it meg thanks. The Duplo is one of the most played with things in this house and the boys play nicely togther with it (mostly). It is worth the money.
The most played with toy box is the box of cars though and each car in there cost about 50p.

ninja · 16/05/2010 22:35

IMO mrsarch....... glad the shoes are useful.

I had to get DD1 new shoes and were in clarks where M spotted the crocs, she loves DD1's (fake) ones as they;re easy to put on and now she's the proud owner of some size 6-7 BRIGHT yeloow ones (she wouldn't take them off and hasn't since). They also had sizes 4-5 there, so you should be able to get them.

They're great 'cos she can put them on for herself each mroning.

I was in Next the other day though and they had really sweet fake ones here

They also have these

meglet I'm still breastfeeding, mainly just in the mornings and some nights. I've had a weekend away from it recently, but it's still going

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/05/2010 23:05

Tomorrow is extension day...!!!

The garage has been cleared into the newly boarded loft (found all sorts of interesting things we hadn't seen since the move!) and the car is full of stuff for the tip and charity shop.

Eeeeeeeek I'm so excited!

imo mrsA I've seen the silicone muffin cases in other places, can't remember where...possibly even the supermarket. In fact it might have been morrisons...?

DG I was thinking about you the other day, how are you and how are you feeling about all things baby? And also how is your sister? Is she still singing, still in the band? Sorry I'm not up on pop stuff, she could have been in Heat every week and I'm afraid i wouldn't know. She has an awesome voice so I really hope she gets her break.

DS has been a right pesky boy today, he and his sister have been winding each other up. But DH and I have been very distracted with kitchen shopping and garage clearing, so its probably mostly attention.

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/05/2010 23:06

I forgot my important piece of muffin related news...turns out muffin tins are the perfect size for standing stuffed peppers in so they don't fall over in the oven!

DastardlyandSmugly · 17/05/2010 09:31

Pacita I can help if you like. I know an awful lot about schools in this area now.

Meglet I doubt we'd be in this situation if AC was involved! I've tried to re-contact Michael Gove as well but had nothing back so far.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 17/05/2010 09:38

I saw those fake crocs in next at the weekend ninja and tried them on C and they were really strange and didn't fit cos the band pressed very hard onto her ankle, like a vice grip. Not sure really. They also had no wellies or slippers in! We obviously have a crap Next in chester!
I'll have to keep searching - once she's size 4, there's loads more choice. I reckon she'll be there in about a month or so.
On the up side, we're only on our 2nd pair of shoes. I have a friend who's little boy is 6 weeks older than C and she is on shoe number 6!! At £28 a pop!

Pacita · 17/05/2010 09:48

Dastardly, we are submitting our mortgage application today (shiver). The area we are going to is Denmark Hill. I have never ever lived in south London, so forgive me if my geography and sense of distance is appalling. Any pearls of wisdom on schools in that area? If you want to email me direct, do so at elenacaton(at)me(dot)com.

Thanks - and sorry for the hijack, ladies.

Debs75 · 17/05/2010 10:53

Pacita Great news about the pregnancy and the house buying.

Love all the muffin talk. Might have to try some myself, absolutely love baking but never have the time. have got all the silicone muffin cases and tins tho. try Asda or Morrisons.

ILTMIMI Aren't cats just lovely Thankfully mine can't catch mice or birds due to her wonky leg but my first cat caught loads and loved to bring them in half dead. He even caught a bantam chick once and scoffed half of it.

Fanny It sounds like your DD has the virus Robyn had earlier this year. She was sick all the time couldn't eat much and every night her temp shot up and then by morning was normal. It lasted roughly a week and despite being worried I got several full nights sleep.

DastardlyandSmugly · 17/05/2010 12:35

I don't really know Denmark Hill that well but it's in Southwark right? Don't know how bad the pressure on schools is there right now but it's definitely something to investigate. I do know a couple of the schools are really good - I know a lot of people with DCs at Ivydale for example and they rave about it. There are also some really good secondary schools in the borough which is unusual for London.

Is there a local website, like nappyvalley which is the Wandsworth/Clapham one, which you can join to find out? I also know a lot of people living in Southwark and Lambeth (not sure how close to the border you are) so I can ask them if you like.

becaroo · 17/05/2010 12:48

sportsdirect.com are selling crocs for £10 a pair - adulsts and kids. Just ordered Toby some.

carrie Very exciting!

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/05/2010 13:34

The mini digger arrived at 7:23am! The builders came at 8 and the skip arrived at 10. They've already broken up the concrete on over half the area the extension will cover. The dining room bit looks a bit small, but the kitchen is really big. Hope its not too small when its finished coz there's not a lot we can do about it

I had crocs for dd last summer (we called them 'mocks' but she struggled to keep them on her feet and often tripped up. I'm a bit OCD about putting the kids in properly fitting shoes and it worries me the idea of them wearing something unsupportive for three months of the year. That said they're perfect for the beach!
DS is STILL on his first pair of shoes, have had them since the Jan sales, very economical boy

DastardlyandSmugly · 17/05/2010 13:35

Big news from me - we have a place! Just had an e-mail from the councillor I've been corresponding with lately and they have negotiated an extra class at the school so we'll receive an offer letter tomorrow. I can't begin to tell you how relieved and happy I am

In other news my rash is back (did I mention the itchy rash I keep getting?). This is the fourth time I've had it in recent months and this time is worse than ever - it's itching and burning and covering lots of me and actually I feel quite ill - drained and a bit sick.

Went to drs this morning and she doesn't know what it is so I'm off to the hospital tomorrow morning to get it checked out. I hope they fix it - I look like a lizard!

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/05/2010 13:37

WOW!!! Lets make a special batch of celebratory muffins for d&s!!!!!!
