CaptainCaveman · 10/05/2010 21:40

eh ataraxis am I missing something with those 80s throwbacks of which you speak? I am subject to the thrills which are 20/20 world cricket . Toss up between that or boiling my head, the latter being my preference!

buckets we used to live in a flat which had a crap flush (scuse the pun!) and when we did a poo which was 'bigger than the average poo' we had to do a bit of slicing to get it to flush. We used a very long (and otherwise unused) screwdriver, which was then christened the poodriver . Oh happy memories . Wanna borrow it?

CaptainCaveman · 10/05/2010 21:43

On a very exciting note - we got planning permission granted today for our conservatory. Fabbo. So in a few weeks time we will have said conservatory built and habitable YAY!

ataraxis · 10/05/2010 21:46

Hi cavey there is a programme on bbc2 which is basically just about taking the piss out of the 80s. It's only an hour or so, but as you can imagine could go on forever... it's almost worth feeling ancient for

ataraxis · 10/05/2010 21:47

Hooray for conservatory permission

CaptainCaveman · 10/05/2010 22:07

sound like fun - instead I am now being forced to watch Heston Blumentalls (or however you spell it) fairytale feast. lalalalalalalalllalaaaaaaa

MrsMiamla · 10/05/2010 22:45

we used to have a poostick (never thought i'd ever admit to having that to anyone but you guys are different, you're my hairy truckers!)

cece great news re conservatory

oh and dh has asked me to tell you to look at the photos on fb of our new garden and then he wants you all to report back to him via me about whether or not there are gaps in it There are, whatever way you look at it and i have every intention of going out there with some soil and seeds when he's at work on Wednesday

he's had a great day with DS and pil have behaved themselves reasonably well from what i can gather! fil has a cold sore though and keeps forgetting not to kiss DS. not happy and i've asked mil to keep reminding him!

TwilightSurfer · 11/05/2010 01:33

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/05/2010 09:02

Helloooooo is there anyone out there?

LadyGardenia · 11/05/2010 09:32

Bonjour les filles, cava tout le monde? OK without the squiggly bit it looks as if I am offering you all some bubbly.

Miamla I have only just caught up on your Brother Saga good grief!!! To be honest you had me earlier in the year on the loss of earnings thing. I am getting out with seed n soil later as well, I think, not a drip of rain here last couple of days and despite watering, the edges of the grass are beginning to curl up like old sandwiches.

I am not commenting on the lavatorial habits of you lot BUT can I just point out that if Cavey is offering to lend her special screwdriver it means she packed it up from the old place and brought it with her most treasured possessions to the new pad. Nuff said. Hope your big boy had a lovely birthday! Mine has been a treat the last couple of days, perhaps our fighting days are over .

hotterpotter · 11/05/2010 10:36

Hello I'm here but only momentarily as off to the garden centre to buy busy lizzies.

Buckets I hope you managed to flush the monster . I am actually at the humongous pooers on this thread who have needed a dedicated utensil for their disposal issues...

Yay for conservatories cece, can't wait to see it [hint]

Sorry to miss you ataraxis hope you are OK

No sign of your lawn here either miamla

Right, garden centre calls, back soon

GladioliBuckets · 11/05/2010 11:10

Poo managed to soften itself enough to flush overnight. Still by the magic of the human body LOL, such a tiny girl!

MadameGardenia wiz zis cava you are really spoining us.

Well, I have done another little bit of knitting and made a little cloak with armholes for Han Solo (or any other Star Wars figure.) Can't wait to show DS1 and DD is having my first freakish creation converted into a dolly skirt. According to DH she is very proud of me.

Friend & her DD coming for lunch, she's on a diet but am going to try and tempt her with homemade pizza mwahahaha. Must get back to removing the most unhygienic looking objects from the kitchen.

GladioliBuckets · 11/05/2010 11:11

ROFL at spoining!

dizzydixies · 11/05/2010 11:44

Oops thank you - very kind thought and I think the brownies are from you too?

dizzydixies · 11/05/2010 11:48

Oops - have found card wrapped up inside thank you x

cyteen · 11/05/2010 12:52

I could do with some spoining tbh. Cava will suffice for the moment though.

Supposed to be cracking on with my presentation blah, since the event itself is on Thursday morning so just a quick pop on here.

dizzy glad to see you, was thinking about you last night, hope you're feeling all the benefits of some rest xxx (and some brownies too)

hotter arf at [hint] That's my kind of subtlety.

QueenofDreams · 11/05/2010 13:34

Hi all.
dizzy good to see you

S still ill. he got up at 8 this morning, at a little breakfast (sick halfway through) stayed up whingeing at me until I took him to bed at 9.50 then he slept for 2.3 HOURS, got up at 1230 had a little bit of sandwich and water now back in bed asleep again.
All this with a bug that apparently only lasts 48-72 hours according to the doctor.

LadyGardenia · 11/05/2010 13:54

Wow Glads great news about your knitting. I am STILL in the middle of a hat for ds2, may be finished by next autumn but I have made a mistake and can't do corrections.

Cavey I would love to come to your conservatory warming, thank you so much!

cyteen

dizzy

QoD sorry to hear S is still so under the weather. Tis tough and so v. stressful with a sicky child, I know it prob seems as if he's whingeing at you but if he feels awful what's a guy to do? Are you planning return visit to doc or do you have no faith? Hope you're feeling well yourself too.

QueenofDreams · 11/05/2010 14:29

lg I know why he's whingeing. I guess it's difficult because there's nothing I can do about it. Took him for return visit yesterday, don't think I'll take him again today. Probably go tomorrow if he hasn't picked up any by then. I'm struggling with it all because I'm feeling exhausted/ill anyway, so it all feels too much right now.

LadyGardenia · 11/05/2010 14:37

I know where you're coming from, I esp remember the early weeks of preg (though I wasn't sick) feeling this overwhelming tiredness that NOTHING could cure, no amount of sleep could address it. Mucho sympathy and hopefully S's good sleeps will help bringing him back to himself.

dizzydixies · 11/05/2010 14:47

and this is why I should be staying off MN at the minute, a sad dizzy makes for angry posting

hope you & S are feeling better soon QofD - please try to remember that any symptoms are a positive thing for the long run and will pass

dizzydixies · 11/05/2010 14:54

sorry link didn't work this is one of the reasons a break will do me some good

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/05/2010 16:25

Dizzy - 2 points - It was my pleasure am only sorry the brownies were not made by my fair hand and secondly - Be as angry and pissed off with comments as you like, for those who have been in your situation the triviality (is that a word?)of having to wait is just unreal but then ask AIBU and expect someone to say yes how terrible you waited 50mins is worse!

DD and I went to toddlers then to the local NCT 0-2 group where someone was talking about potty training but she was rubbish and didn't talk to most people, only the group leaders and the only other pregnant woman in the room who had no children.

We are all out to dinner with DDs Godparents from Germany this evening so we haveshe has no long woken up from a late nap.

MrsMiamla · 11/05/2010 19:40

evening all, dizz stay in here with us, we'll chat/listen/shout as required but they're not so understanding outside of our little tent here

fil is picking his fingers....argh.... driving me barmy

so, DS seems to have survived a day with them but I have to admit i sneaked home from work 3hrs early!
Still no word from mum, hey ho

right, off to catch up properly now... see you all in a few hours

CrispyTheCrisp · 11/05/2010 20:02

Evening all

Very emotionally draining day here trying to sort the last bits of crap out with work. Sent a particularly barbed email to HR so feeling slightly better . Nothing to lose eh?

miamla can't believe you have not heard from your mum. All sounds a very rubbish situation, unless DBro has actually convinced her that you agreed to it

QoD is S on the mend?

Hots can you come and sort my wilderness garden please?

MrsMiamla · 11/05/2010 20:07

crispy i'm quite surprised that you want hots anywhere near your garden...unless of course we're talking about different gardens

DH spoke to her about message bro left so she knows exactly how i feel about it. hey ho, i've already booked next week off work so at least we know where we are with it all.

exactly, no, you don't have anything to lose and hopefully something will good will come from your email or are we past that point?!
