Just marking my place, thanks for setting up a new thread Claire

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/04/2010 12:34

wahey new thread.

Trying to remember how many threads there has been since the beginning. Does anyone know?

GoldenSnitch · 12/04/2010 12:41

We had at least 2 pregnancy threads and this is the second antenatal thread I think....

Claire236 · 12/04/2010 12:46

Glad to hear you know where your toes are Lee36. Your must be going stir crazy stuck in the house.

Had a phonecall from dr this am with the results of ds2s samples (only took them in Fri am, very impressed) He's got rotavirus which is a gastroenteritis type thing common in small children. He's on the mend although dr did warn me he probably wouldn't be back to normal until the end of this week.

Not sure if I mentioned but I had my cholestorol checked again last week. Put on tablets 2 months ago because it's high & it's gone down from 8.5 to 4.1 so well within normal range now.

Off to make buns with ds1. From a mix so totally cheating but they do say it's the thought that counts. Actually with ds1 it's the making a mess that counts.

Just had a quick look ad counted 4 pregnancy threads!! Plus these two post natal threads...that's 6.

What made you get your cholesterol checked Claire? (apologies if I've missed you telling us ) I get really bad milia and have been told it could be due to high cholesterol. Been thinking about asking the doctor to check.

And it's absolutely the mess the counts I do have a really simple cake mix recipe if you ever fancy making them yourself though...

Claire236 · 12/04/2010 12:58

It was checked months ago when a dr decided to check everything under the sun when I had a blood test. It was slightly high then. I've also got milia which another dr noticed when I went in about 3 months ago about something else so she suggested I have another blood test. That registered 8.5 so I had it checked again a month later along with my liver function (the statins used to treat high cholestorol can affect your liver so they check it's healthy before prescribing them) & it was still 8.5 so I was prescribed statins. Does anyone in your family have high cholestorol? My mum & nan both do & the dr said it tends to run in families. I don't have any other risk factors so was really surprised.

You can never have too many recipes (especially for cake) & simple ones are my favourites.

Ok, new thread - new me.

To explain - it's HollyHo here.

Am rubbish at thinking of usernames and didn't think when I joined Mumsnet that I would get to know people in an antenatal club so HollyHo was fine. As we are getting to know each other and you my DD it's getting confusing as my DD is Holly Elizabeth!

I am actually a Claire but didn't want to get confused with Claire236. Have chosen Klerka as that's what my MIL calls me and spells my name!

Hope that makes sense. Thank you for your kind comments on how DD looked in her dress, we had a lovely time.

GoldenSnitch · 12/04/2010 13:06

Might have mine checked then. As far as I know, no-one in my family has high cholesterol but then I haven't spoken to my father since I was 18 so he might have and I don't know. Is the cholesterol reduction helping with the milia?

Cake recipe is super simple. Weigh 2 or 3 eggs. Whatever the eggs weigh, weigh out the same amount of butter, caster sugar and self raising flour. Cream the butter and sugar, add the eggs and the flour slowly, along with a few drops of vanilla essence if you have it or cocoa powder/drinking chocolate if you want chocolate cake, then either put into cake cases or a sandwich tin and bake at about 200 degrees for 15-20 mins. Easy peasy

whittywan · 12/04/2010 13:38

Hi there!

Can I join please? My DS was born 16/12/09. Have been lurking around MN since November but somehow never managed to find you guys.

Klerka · 12/04/2010 13:43

Welcome whittywan. The more the merrier!

Scorps · 12/04/2010 14:10

Just saying hello, Lacey is doing really well, giggles alot and is very friendly! Still exc BF and have no plans to stop and will wean at 6 months like my other dd was.

Hope you're all well

Claire236 · 12/04/2010 14:50

Welcome whittywan.

GS - milia still currently the same although hasn't got any worse which it had been doing. Might have to try that cake recipe. My house now smells delicious but don't think it's going to help shift my mummy tummy.

Scorps - I was wondering the other day how you were getting on. Glad Lacey's doing well, hope you are too.

"Hello everyone, not been here for a few days but loving the new thread title! Been busy as dp thinks that buying a property to do up and let out is just what I need to fill in my time whilst on mat. leave .

Been to the park for three days in a row , happy mummy here today, I love sunshine!

Lovely to heare from you Scorps, hope that you are still getting plenty of rl support.

Great news about your cholesterol Claire. I had lost all of my baby weight but dd loves cooking and we did a lot of choc recipes over Easter so I'm sure I've put on a few pounds.

BexJ78 · 12/04/2010 17:33

i was just going to ask actually how people were doing with post baby weight. my appetite is still massive and i just can't stop eating! Have no self control!

BexJ78 · 12/04/2010 17:34

Oh and hi whittywan!

Scorps · 12/04/2010 18:06

Ummm, I'm fine with the weight loss, I'm a size 6/8 again and just 8st- I'm 5'9 though and feel like a boy!!

whittywan · 12/04/2010 18:19

Thanks for the welcome all. Mr Baby is a serious boob monster and I managed to shed the weight very quickly and have kept it off BUT am eating massive amounts of chocolate and am rather afraid of weaning as I'm sure the lbs will just pile right back on then.

Claire236 · 12/04/2010 18:25

I've got an extra 1/2 stone which I want to get rid of as it's all on my stomach & I hate it.

OP posts:
Klerka · 12/04/2010 18:50

Not sure how much weight I need to lose as I don't have scales at home. What I do know is that I didn't need to lose any. I had a tiny bump and was still cycling til 7 months and worked until 8 days before I had DD. I tried on my pre-pregnancy jeans when I got home from hospital and they fitted - they just were uncomfortable because of my csection wound...

However, since then I have put on so much weight despite exbf... most of it is my fault - never had a sweet tooth before but for the first 15 weeks I got through a ridiculous amount of chocolate. Have gone on the minipill though too so that might account for some of it.

Am now on a proper diet and trying on my pre-pregnancy jeans weekly as a scale. Not so much muffin top as entire supermarket bakery top.

hendo77 · 12/04/2010 19:21

Hi whittywan!

Another Claire here - popular name obviously!

I'm down to my pre-pregnancy weight, which unfortunatley is still about 6 stone above my 'ideal' weight . However I did an online shop that arrived today and have planned my food intake and exercise options for this week at least so on the right track hopefully...
