DS is a nightmare today! Left over tiredness from preschool possibly?

He has his first swimming lesson without me getting in the pool this afternoon. That's going to be fun - not!

LaDiDaDi · 21/04/2010 14:46

Went straight from nursery to the park for a chilly but nice picnic. Just got home now, ds is asleep but I'm going to be cruel and wake him up in a minute as my boobs are tingling. Hoping for some more sleep tonight!

Hi everyone

GS - great news re your Ds - sorry he's been a bit grumpy today though..

I had a mini breakthrough with P last night - I decided not to dreamfeed her and see what happened - she is usually fast asleep at 10pm so I thought I would gve it a go - especially as she has been on solids for nearly three weeks now. Anyway..she slept 7pm-6am and then back until 9am. wooohooo.

Bet it won't happen tonight now! Although at least I know she can do it - at 21 weeks tmrw.

got appt with knee specialst tmrw which am sort of dreading...and P has her op tuesday. at least it's been nice weather today!

hendo77 · 21/04/2010 16:34

Kings - very of P's sleeping last night!

Lee - yes it talks about naps too. It says to start with the longest lunchtime nap. Have an hour long 'sleep window' and do your chosen technique for that time... then once you've cracked that one do it for the other naps too.

I always feel more in control after ordering/reading a book, deciding on a new attempt at routine or way to do something. In hindsight I don't think it makes much difference, but it gives me eternal optimism that today/tonight will be different because...!!! Although I often think Imogen's been reading the no-sleep cry solution instead...

It could just be an infection, or nappy rash - from friends with little boys I think this is very common. I think you can put petroleum jelly on it (once better) to act as a barrier to reduce chances of soreness recurring. Obviously though this is all second hand from friends, none of which are medically trained in any way so I'm sure the doctor will probably know better!!!

Hope your DS1 starts to feel better soon as well.

1petshortofazoo · 22/04/2010 13:41

Hi thanks for all your comments about the chicken pox, ds1 is a lot better. Luckily he didn't have then too bad in the end, they were just on his back and belly and didnt seem poorly with it. We've just got to wait and see if regan gets it.
Dp and I had the bug about 3 weeks ago, it was horrible.
Just been to asda and spent a fortune stocking up with wipes and nappies and clothes on their baby event just got to find somewhere to put it all now.....

hendo77 · 22/04/2010 13:50

1pet - is it all on special offer and really good value in asda at the mo? If so might also go and stock up tomorrow as it might save us a fortune!!!

Does anyone here use washable nappies or a nappy laundry service? I'm thinking about trying it but wondered what other's experiences were like...

1petshortofazoo · 22/04/2010 14:02

I got 128 huggies nappies for £11, 12 packs of pampers sensitive wipes for £9 an inflatable sit me up chair for £15 2 beakers for £2 each and some vests and baby grows £4 a pack so cheaper than usual

Dreading ds1 getting headlice. Making me itch just thinking about it.

My mum text me to ask if I wanted to get an Asda order delivered to her house (we're in Germany) to collect next time we're over. Might just do that looking at 1pets bargains. Everything baby related is so damn expensive over here.

Good luck with the new routine Lee36.

I've had a really emotional day today which I think is because I'm having to confront going back to work. I can't imagine leaving ds2 & had a few tears at the thought earlier. I feel like we've been through so much together with all the problems we've had & now he's a lovely happy boy I'm going to have to leave him in nursery. I'm just going to have to make sure I enjoy our last 6 weeks. He discovered a new trick today. Blowing raspberries with a mouthful of food which he thought was highly amusing. Little monkey. Had to clean him, myself & the highchair by the time he'd finished spraying squash (of the butternut variety) all over the place.

hi everyone..... boy am i beginning to regret wishing ds would roll..... what a nightmare nappy change time is now. he is certainly better at bight too since i became rock hard Mummy......stirred twice last night but stuck dummy in and that was that. he has been so much happier in day because of sleeping better..... i was beginning to lose faith in myself and struggling to cope. saw a friend today whose baby had a good wail so i felt better that mine wasnt the only one whose dc does this!!! another friend has an angel baby who never cries!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 22/04/2010 20:22

claire.....ds does the same but his preferred sound is b b b .....it has the same effect though!!

Hi
I dropped in the Register of Interest form at the nursery I am considering for DD today. Won't be until maybe September for two days or something (really not sure) - but needed to get her name down on the list as it's so long. I can only imagine how you are feeling Claire... six weeks of fun in this weather together though...

DH had to have yesterday off as work wouldn't have him back after being poorly for less than 48 hours so we had a lovely family day. Went to a new garden centre, he bought some herbs and got them planted whilst I hacked pruned some very overgrown 'plants', it was very satisfying.

Bought and picked up a LeapFrog Activity Station for her from EBay yesterday - she's in it now... she's doing really well in it, she can take some weight on her feet as they so love to do - but it does makes me laugh with all the buttons and things that she looks in control of the universe!

GoldenSnitch · 23/04/2010 22:43

Catherine's really not keen on DH.

I thought it was just a Mummy thing but she was happily passed between 3 of my friends this afternoon (all women) without a tear. The she was sat in her bouncy chair when DH got home from work, he looked at her and she burst into tears!!!

I think I may have to take her out more often as it's the only way I get to have my arms free!!

sparklycheerymummy · 24/04/2010 11:07

i quite often have the same problem GS!!! Dp just taken ds for his sat morn walk and came back half hour later saying he had woken up...... so what??????? i hadnt even got in the shower!!!!!! GGGGRRRRRRRRRR

Claire236 · 24/04/2010 21:14

Funnily enough ds2 never wakes up when I dreamfeed him but the last 2 times dh has done it he's woken up & screamed his head off. The first time I got up & took ds2 downstairs so he didn't wake ds1 up & he fell asleep by the time I got downstairs so I went straight back up & put him in his cot. The second time I took him gave him a 2 second jiggle & he was asleep again. It seems noone will do but mummy for our bubbas.

I've been making DH hold her more today. She's been in a good mood and they've been getting on well. I don't mind being the only one that will do when she's upset but I'd love to have my arms back now and again!

I love being the one my dcs need!!!!!

Claire236 · 25/04/2010 19:48

I'm loving ds2 wanting me more than anyone else as if he's anything like ds1 it will be short lived. Making the most of being the centre of his universe for as long as it lasts.

GoldenSnitch · 25/04/2010 20:03

Oh yes, DS had this Mummy phase too and it felt just as claustrophobic but when the Daddy phase began, I was heartbroken!

Must remember to enjoy it while it lasts

GoldenSnitch · 26/04/2010 17:47

Anyone else having a problem with naps? I've been able to keep track today cause we've been in all day and Catherine has napped for 40 minutes this morning and 10 minutes this afternoon!!

That's all!

And no doubt she'll be up 3 or 4 times tonight again too.

She's only 17 weeks old, she should be sleeping way more than that!
