Sorry your hols were not good loti, you must feel like you need a holiday to get over it? And you can't afford to lose any weight you mere slip of a girl!

Morning everyone, lovely day here too. Forecast promises circa 16 degrees I do love the warm sunshine!

hotterpotter · 17/04/2010 10:00

Hey cece eek gotta go, kids filthy

GladioliBuckets · 17/04/2010 11:11

Hotter Do they not have sports bars in Scotland then?

LOTI What a nightmare for you. Is Dh back home now? It's difficult doing holidays with relatives (I imagine, not done one since having kids) because you don't get to pick them iyswim. That reminds me the Sun holidays will be up online this week, want to find another bargain for autumn half term with my friend.

I am currently revelling in not having any more kids. I have been pushing a pushchair and changing nappies everyday for nearly 7yrs now!!! DH & I agreed we are really looking forward to the next 5yrs.

Kurt's speech is improving slowly, he's been chanting away some syllables to himself that are definitely English ones, hurrah! He can now say book and ball and pointed to the right picture when asked yesterday. Normally he just smiles and nods brightly like an elderly foriegn lady.

hotterpotter · 17/04/2010 11:25

LOL Buckets I guess you don't really know much about England/Scotland football rivalry Suffice to say a lone voice cheering England in a Dundee pub would probably get him killed not go down too well

Have always wondered about that, I found our neighbour's when I was looking. Is it polite? Can they tell? Would I get in trouble?

poppysocks · 17/04/2010 13:42

A way round your football watching in Scotland problem hotter - pop over to St Andrews. He'd certainly not be in a minority here . I ended up having to go to hospital with DD1 at the start of the Calcutta Cup, forcing DH to watch the match in the patients' lounge in the hospital (in Dundee). It didn't make for a comfortable experience for him - even more so given that England lost. I tried to console him with a. his first born child and b. that I was in significantly greater discomfort but to no avail .

So sorry your hol was so difficult loti. Are you gearing up for a chat with DH? Must be hard to find the energy when you're so tired.

I can't believe how close you're getting oops! I second your heartburn = baby has hair thing sazzles. I remember at the time we had a straw poll on it on here - never had heartburn in my life I suffered horribly with DD2 who was born with THE most ridiculously full crop of hair (which has continued to flourish - DH now just calls her Dougal, as in Magic Roundabout). DD1 had just a light dusting and no such heartburn. Conclusive don't you think?

Sorry to hear DD3's not good again dizzy and DH's work tricky. So pleased you salvaged some fab bits of your hol though. Must get together soon. How are the next few weeks looking?

Right, off for now. DDs both asleep - still post-chickenpox napping - so there is a silver lining. Off out tonight with the ladies from the mother and baby group - likely to late and drunken so better get some precautionary sleep in now...

pertelote · 17/04/2010 13:51

Was just about to post but DD has just said pointedly 'miss[ing] sunshine!' Think she has been coached so I'd better go... proper post later.

dizzydixies · 17/04/2010 14:17

AARRGHHHHHHHHH his fecking work have just changed ANOTHER shift and its when I'm working feckers

Poppy - will have a look when I'm on proper laptop - this one doesn't have the shifts on it - Wed/Fri best for you isn't it? have a lovely night tonight and hope girls are improving

D been limpet like again all day so another day in the sun missed I cannot believe its only 14:14 but thats her down for another nap and I'm pleased to say I think her fever has finally broken. Friend who was supposed to come over had to cancel at short notice (more crisps and dips for me ) and the girls have gone out for picnic and some festival thingy in St Andrews with the childminder/mothers help girly

Hots - beginning of July V hectic for us as its TITP and DD1's birthday/end of school if that help eases the footie disappointment and tbh we're not as bad in Scotland at supporting other home nations as the press like to portray

Sazz - sounds like a productive morning I'm still battling the washing pile having run out of washing powder - the ironing pile just about needs a room of its own DH has finally shaved and looks a bit like a potato but thank goodness as he's been seconded to CID for today - can you remind me when MrSazz birthday is please?

CaptainCaveman · 17/04/2010 19:42

Good evening gang, relatively peaceful here. Dh just putting O to bed and ds1 is downstairs leaping about playing mario tennis. I'm full of chinese and chocolate

dizz what if you couldn't rearrange childcare - would dh's work just not take that into account?

CaptainCaveman · 17/04/2010 20:00

don't tell me you're all busy having real lives?! I suppose I had better go and put ds1 to bed. Then it's time for Dr Who on the Sky+

oopsandbabycoconut · 17/04/2010 20:22

Hi CC

no life here - not long in from manic day at work - I think I may have overdone it just a little, been contracting every 10-12 mintes since 3pm and longer between since earlier in the day. MW not worried but DH went a nasty pale grey when I mentioned it at 6 so was ordered to sit and do nothing which is easier said than done in the sale room full of demanding customers and DD. Finally DD in bed at 8, Chinese on order, DH talking to press and clients so I may actually get to say Hi to him at some point.

Sound like a sunny day was had by all.

Back later when brain is back in function mode.

dizzydixies · 17/04/2010 20:27

Cece - no, they have no say over a shift change at all

oopsgo and sit down and put your feet up this very minute

chinese and friends here so that was nice, D has finally stopped crying/whinging after much drugs administered and whilst sleeping fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow

we're supposed to be going to Cairnie to meet up with all of DD1's school friends for picnic/last day of holidays however forecast is for rain and nobody likes soggy sangers

cyteen · 17/04/2010 21:08

oops I hope you are tucking into your Chinese takeaway right now, while DH massages your feet/back/leaves you the hell alone fgs (delete as appropriate)

Had a lovely day here: up to the allotment in the morning with both friends and their boys, so lots of grubby toddler fun was had and we actually managed to get some peas and radishes planted. Then visited friends round the corner for a barbeque in the blazing sunshine DP has taken himself back round there now that DS is asleep. I can feel a film and an early night heading my way.

pertelote · 17/04/2010 21:40

Ah, here I am. Indeed Oops I hope you are now relaxing and being waited on!

Cyteen that sounds like a lovely day and LWFH thanks for the park tales! All noted for coming sunny days...

Dizzy hope you are also having a relaxing evening, you more than deserve one. I get riled if DH answers emails at the weekend for longer than the random 'reasonable' period in my head so I can't imagine how frustrating the shifts business must be.

Poppy my friend who is on his way to you is a single chap so I don't know quite what local wisdom he needs - but he is the new lecturer in the Physics dept (initials JK) if you felt like sending him a friendly virtual wave!

Red I think I was confusing, it was my own reaction to my friend's all-clear that I was about... I agree with you very much on that subject, which is why I was a bit surprised at the strength of my reaction. There are always lots of little ones with Down's and similar conditions at the cardio clinic though and it has made me more aware of the complications which can be involved. Not always, of course. As for to test or not to test... no idea. I think now that I wish DD's ToF had been picked up at a scan so I'd have been 'prepared' but really...? The diagnosis didn't sink in properly until months after we heard it anyway so I don't think those extra weeks would actually have helped that much.

Long post, very me-ish, sorry all. Hullo to everyone I've x-posted with.

cyteen · 18/04/2010 07:52

We decided to have the triple test with DS only after discussing it for hours on end and being unable to reach any firm conclusion...after all the shit that had happened with my brother, being even slightly forewarned of possible problems seemed like a good idea. To this day though I have no idea how I would have reacted to any unusual results, and I am forever grateful that I didn't have to carry the testing process any further.

Having been through it once, I'm not sure I'd want any tests again - there's so much they can't tell, and my thinking about any baby in utero would be radically different now that I have one running about and growing in front of me.

I have a question for you all: how to train a toddler out of the habit of emitting loud, piercing shrieks (for fun) at all hours and in all environments? I don't mind so much if we're outside or whatever, but in the house at 5.30am is a bit much for our neighbours as well as us. DS is incredibly loud. He seems to have mastered projecting from the diaphragm and telling him 'no' is as effective as all the other times I use it So, any thoughts?

oopsandbabycoconut · 18/04/2010 07:58

Morning

fresh hot bread for breakfast here - made by my own fair hand as DD has been up and limpeted to me since 5. I guess that is what I get in return for not seeing her for more than an hour yesterday. She woke up and came into bed with us, signed a huge sigh and said 'oh mummy, what beautiful boobies, 2 of them how lovely' and snuggled into me. I was (for a change) wearing jammies so I have no idea where that comment came from. Dh offered to get up but I left him to sleep and will swap places in about an hour.

Contractions sped up to about every 5 mins last night so DH rang MW who popped over to put his mind at rest. BP fine, no leaking fluid, about 3cms but not progressing, told to go to bed and call this morning if they hadn't stopped. 2 paracetamol and 4 hours later they stopped so no baby yet .

Dizzy - hope today is sunny and you get a chance to get out with the girls.

Being yelled at for 'outside, sun pleeease mummy' so will open the door and let her out in her jammies.

CaptainCaveman · 18/04/2010 08:33

ooooh oops how exciting! Have you got your bag packed? Be sure to rest up today unless you want baby to make an early appearance?

cyteen your day sounds like it was fun. Re the ear piercing shrieks - I have no idea but let me know when you find out as O is fond of that too, albeit not in the nightime though.

Another lovely day here. My lie-in was terminated early by 2 crying screaming boys, one of whom had bitten the other (O bit T). When T started crying O joined in . So I thought I'd get up and say hi to you guys before I go downstairs to join the family

oopsandbabycoconut · 18/04/2010 08:48

CC - bag packed I have a Sainsburys carrier with a pair of new PJs and some big knickers hanging on the bannister, a mothercare bag with a few other bits in the baby's room, babygros about to be washed and that is it!

DH now up and about, washing on the line, DD playing happily with her 'creatures' so I'm off to read in the sun.

If doesn't pass soon am going to start phoning to farm out one child at a time.

Morning all, apologies for whingy post iPhone on loo possibly not most hygenic

luckoftheirish · 18/04/2010 10:41

GladioliBuckets · 18/04/2010 10:49

Oops 3cm dilated??? Does that mean you'll have it by the end of the week then? How's your sciatica at the mo anyway?

Dizzy What are the odds that all shift changes have been requested by managers to suit their own childcare/holiday/sports watching plans?

DH taking big2 swimming this avo so I plan to test out my sports bra and go for a jog on the Common with the pushchair. Seeing as I haven't gone above a happy skip since sports day 1992, I'm aiming low, 30mins non-stop movement (inc walking).

GladioliBuckets · 18/04/2010 10:52

Whoops, how did I miss the last 2 posts? Hope it's all over soon Dizzy, get some help in anyway.

dizzydixies · 18/04/2010 10:55

buckets - no, one is for him to attend a training course & the other because his thuggery specialist skills required for an op

and well done you on the jogging, the one that DH started is 5 min brisk walk, 6 minute jog, 6 minute walk, 6 min jog etc then brisk walk for 5 mins to cool down

thanks LOTI - girls now watching Peter Pan, D like a limpet but lovely friend has changed her plans to help out
