sorry for horrible typing and spelling - I must preview in future. Oh and 'we' will be rescheduling not'web'

Veggiemummy · 13/04/2010 12:09

Web reschedualling wow that sounds interesting, just type in info and some online thing sorts it out for you, imagine that. Quite a good idea. You could get all your friends to type in their availability and options of where to go and the web app spits out the top options of time & place. Your onto something Rubs.

Well I couldn't help myself I looked on lastminute and I could get a flight tomorrow returning Friday for around £200! Bugger! Oh well it would be a very early flight and latish back. Packing up one child is ok but packing up 2 dragging to the airport and entrtsining alone for a couple of days is another even if it is Barca. Have decided to skip it.

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 12:20

Oh, bad luck Veggie. But hey, you ARE off to Budapest (never been, would love to) v soon so just think of that and you will enjoy it all the more for not having gone to Barcelona.

As to weight, Rubes, I am weighing myself nearly every day which I don't think is very healthy really but I can't seem to stop. I am 16wks and have put on somewhere between 0.3 and 0.5 kg. Mind you, I was very blubbery before. I'm not starving myself (and still eating a bag of crisps a day and probably too much cheese) but I am doing way better than last time when I just rolled with it (ha -literally )

O is good but I am not daft enough to take any credit for it - I genuinely think it's down to luck. And plus, I suspect she won't be thrilled to have a rival for our attention later in the year and I also remain convinced that the next one will be a human tornado.

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:31

That's brilliant lady re weight - 100gms or so of that would be baby alone, then there's fluid etc and the rest you would have put on relating to the baby so chances are you have actually lost weight.

Yeah Veggie - sounds all a bit too hard basket doesn't it really.

I've just had a massive bowl of steamed rice and vege's - healthy you might say, but if you actually saw how much (about a cup of rice uncooked!!!!!) you'd die!
ds had half a burger patty from last night and some cous cous and two bits of apple so that's ok. Dog had the rest of the apple that ds threw off the table

I'm off to walk this carbo overload off now at the shopping centre

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:34

Oh and also Lady - some on the wider MN will say that's unhealthy to weigh in every day but I think it's great I don't always but when I go weeks without weighing in - those weeks are the ones of highest junk consumption so a daily weigh in keeps your diet healthy (of course providing you don't go the other extreme)

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 12:38

Yes, a long walk for me today too. My rationale is I had a coupla stone left to shed before I started, so I have already got my babyweight to lose All other weight gain must be kept to a (healthy) minimum.

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:41

I've just had a whinge to ds about his mother bringing cake over when I've told her NO - and told him you haven't even put on a KILO at 16 weeks and I've put on a STONE at 24 weeks!!! And not much less at 16!!!!
I'm on emergency healthy kick from now......

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 12:43

Well...I don't think it's great that I weigh every day but I'm not going to worry too much about it as it deffo helps to concentrate my mind (and avoid tempting items which are of scant nutritional value to the baby anyway).

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:43

Shopping list -
PJ's for DS [tick]
DURACELL batteries for bathroom scales [tick]
Salad [tick]

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:44

actually that was a "whinge to DH not DS" however ds is going to cop a bit of my whining in the car too no doubt!

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 12:50

No, no, no, lovey, you were very slim when you began! I was a good two stone overweight and rather a blimp! THAT is why I have put on so little weight - seriously. I have read up on this and those who are fat to start off with not only WILL put on less, they blinkin' well SHOULD! So please please don't worry. I looked more pregnant than you do probably do now, before I even was!! I could quite easily bet with you now that once the baby is born you will STILL be much closer to your normal weight than I will once my babe is born. Except I don't want to take your money as I know it's a dead cert Other preggos, please come and back me up on this and Rubes, look anywhere on the internet or in any medical textbook and it will tell you if you are slim or of normal weight, you SHOULD have put on at least a stone at 24 weeks.

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:55

LOL I know that is true if you are overweight to start, but I don't think you were 2 stone over??? Surely not! Anyway, fear not, I'm fine - just being silly and I often have these little freak outs then down a pudding at the pub to hours later so please don't worry - I'm really just having a joke and I'm all talk really!! I am however going to stoop having these ridiculously large carbo loaded portion sizes though as I have been having incredible heart burn and indigestion if I eat massive meals rather than more frequent smaller one's which I've been doing recently

Rubena · 13/04/2010 12:56

Right - this time i'm really off to the shop (seriously I was planning on buying batteries for the scales anyway)

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 13:04

Unfortunately, I was 12kg overweight before I got pregnant, and when I say that, I don't even mean 12kg more than I used to weigh pre-pregnancy - as we would be talking at least 15 or 16kg, but I am resigned to never being THAT again so no longer torture myself about it. Right - must stop obsessing about weight and get back on with work! My favourite 'salad' is grilled halloumi, mango, lettuce, lots of coriander and spring onion. It really is the tops.

Veggiemummy · 13/04/2010 13:07

I know I really should be a little bit less ungrateful, I love Budapest and the weather looks lovely this weekend. I must catch up with Kiwi for her tips on good places for kids. The last time i was there it was a single backpacker. My travelling companion and I always said we would marry rich men who worked away all the time and we would summer in Budapest, taking young bohemian poets as lovers, and sitting around drinking coffee all day and red wine all night. Instead I'm going there with my lovely computer hacker geek and his 2 cheeky offspring.

Veggiemummy · 13/04/2010 13:15

Rubs, if your planning to BF you need to give yourself a little breathing space with the weight. I have a friend who had a terribly stressful first trimester and half 2nd trimester as there were problems, all fine now thankfully but she was underweight to start because she is an avid runner and then actually lost weight because of the preganacy stress. Anyway she BF fine until about 3 months when she was incredibly tired all the time and was eating as much as she could but just could not keep up with his demand. Thankfully she made it through and is still BF him at 7 months but she puts it down to not having put on enough weight during the pregnancy.

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 13:15

Well, Veg, I think a young Bohemian poet could get quite tiresome and self-interested and anyway, your teeth would look like mahogany if you did literally drink coffee all day and red wine all night. You're miles better with what you've got. Still jealous of Budapest though!

Beans33 · 13/04/2010 13:30

Gosh, yes, don't worry about weight when pregnant! Obviously good to try and keep healthy, and not pile on too much, but not worth fretting too much. Says she who weighs herself most mornings. Am now nearly 30 weeks and have put on about 10kg so far. Which is ok. I look rank though!

OP posts:
Beans33 · 13/04/2010 13:31

I think 10kg is about 23lbs?

Beans33 · 13/04/2010 13:32

PS We've accepted an offer on the house - yay!

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 13:48

That's great, Bean. Hooray. When do you reckon you will have to move out?

LadyThompson · 13/04/2010 13:49

I MEANT Beans, not Bean Now I am thinking of Mr Bean, which isn't at all helpful.

Beans33 · 13/04/2010 13:59

I don't look dissimilar! Hee hee!

We're moving on 15th May come what may as need to be settled somewhere new before arrival of the new one, so DD won't feel completely unsettled by so much new stuff. Am due on 25th June, so gives her a bit of time to adjust. So am househunting again today. Found a gorgeous house today, but it's £50 p/w over budget. Think we'll offer at £50 under the asking price and see what they say. Worth a go and we'd be marvellous tenants!!! I met the landlord and did some charming!

EffiePerine · 13/04/2010 16:22

Good luck Beans! Great news on the house.

Veggiemummy · 13/04/2010 16:25

Beans def try offering lower. We had to drop the rental on our Derby place as the Market is really weighted against rental at the mo. To increase your chances tell them you would sign a 12 month lease and it will be quite a longterm rental (I think you said you'll be renting for a while). Landlords will happily take def longterm over higher rent. Well I would anyway.
