And Vaggie - does this remind you of Emily Rat Hamster and her weird cheeks?

Gosh I am sorry about my lack of previewing. She HID him in her SOCK drawer. A sick drawer sounds quite disturbing.

Rubena · 29/04/2010 13:14

lol just spotted that Beans!!! That's a sick drawer alright!

spotofcheerfulness · 29/04/2010 13:15

Aubs the deed was very much done without - just so infrequently I wouldn't have thought it was possible!
That's v interesting about your early negative tests. How long did it take to get a positive one?

I think "sick drawer" is about right!

Rubena · 29/04/2010 13:30

Spot it only takes one time!!! ie: my ds1 and babyLady2

Depends when you ovulated right? Spose you aren't aware of that are you since you weren't trying as I very much was but it won't be positive until at least 3 days or so after implantation (especially with a cheap test) which if my memory serves is about 7-10 days after ov although in LadyT's case her body practically screamed I'm pregnant the minute they finished the deed

spotofcheerfulness · 29/04/2010 13:33

Ah - but I was due already which must be a fortnight at least after ov. I think I must just be a bit late, but it is v funny, have the strange taste in mouth etc.

Aubergines · 29/04/2010 13:37

Spot - with DD1 I got a negative on a First Response on the day AF was due. I then spent three days going to christmas parties and getting drunk and the throwing-up all night. I could not understand why I kept throwing-up given I normally stomach drink pretty well. On the third day I test again with a Clear Blue and got a faint positive. So that was three days after AF was due. With DD2 I got a negative on the day AF was due but a positive 48 hours later. I tend to ovulate only 10 days before AF arrives so I think that is why it takes me slightly longer to get a positive result.

I have just remembered and even sicker dead pet story. I used to have two budgies called Lavenders Blue Dilly-Dilly and Lavenders Green (bit more imaginative with birds). I was terrible at taking care of them and my Mum used to hassle me about it. One day I found them both dead, hanging upside down on their perches. I realised I had not fed or watered them in days and I was petrified what my Mum would say so I filled their seed tray and their water and I cellotaped them both upright onto their perches . Strangely my Mum was not fooled.

spotofcheerfulness · 29/04/2010 13:39

Aubs that is a quality anecdote. I don't believe for a second you've "just remembered" it though. I think you were waiting for the tone to descend sufficiently to come clean .

JamInMyWellies · 29/04/2010 14:01

I have jsut snorted my lunch out my nose at the hamster stories!

spotofcheerfulness · 29/04/2010 14:05

That "Sue's to blame" thread in Active Convos had me crying with laughter.

Rubena · 29/04/2010 14:17

Dear God Aubs that is shocking! But funny - in a Weekend at Bernie's type of way!

Yes but Spot, if you know when you are due does that mean you did know when you Ovulated? Typically your AF arrives 14 days after ovulation (well unless you have a short luteal phase which I did slightly but I lengthened it) Mine used to come 8 days after OV but I turned it in to 12 or so and then fell pg but not sure if that was the reason or wouldn't have made much difference. Either way, just do another test in a couple of days and perhaps you'll still be joining us in the clacker club soon

spotofcheerfulness · 29/04/2010 14:28

Rubes, by that reckoning you could be right, but I will let you know first either way .

Rubena · 29/04/2010 14:31

well good luck which ever way you prefer it to go... right I've spent far to long on here today and i'm clearly needing to get out. Off to the midwife as soon as ds wakes so I can nab one of these free preggo money forms (my sil would cringe)

Beans33 · 29/04/2010 15:20

I've spent mine already. How sad???

OMG you guys have had me snorting with laughter, DS2 has been very amused by the noises coming from me. Aubs that is just hilarious about your birds I bet your mum PHSL when she discovered them.

We had a dog called mac who used to managed to break into our different animals cages kill them and then would line the 'kill' up on the back verandah for our inspection. When my brother got married and moved to a big enough place he took mac with him. His wife like keeping little animals for the kids like rabbits guinea pigs etc. One by one mac killed them all and lined them up. My SIL had a nightmare one night that she died & went to heaven and God met her at the pearly gates and presented her with all the animals who'd died. She stopped having little pets after that.

Gosh it is so lovely and warm here. I went to school to pick up DS1 but one of his friends wanted him to go over to play so I've got DS2 to myself again will pick DS1 up in a bit.

Beans33 · 29/04/2010 15:54

Vag - I love that story! And Aubs - your bird one made me laugh a lot - reminds me of Dumb and Dumber when they glue the head back on the dead budgie - hee hee!

It's been so lovely and warm here and now I think it's going to pour. Sob.

Oh gosh, I've got really low down aching in my abdomen, a bit like period pains. Ouch.

But have literally had a call from midwife about 10 mins ago saying I have no urinary tract infection. Which is great. So don'tknow what this pain is. Ooooouuuuwwww.

Ok tell me if you think this is a little out of order or am I just being hormonal...

Cast your mind back you may vaguely remember I had a m/w appointment when I was 2 days shy of 25 weeks and the m/w I saw was the (quite rude) one in my book as she gaev me the 3rd degree (again)about the elective CS and the form I needed etc saying she'd run out and anyway I can't have it before 25 weeks (I was 24 +6 or something) and she also said don't bother coming back until your next appointment which is at 28 weeks. I thought bugger it as we are still a little financially screwed at present and trying to get out of the poo so I rang today to ask who the m/w is and she said it's "Boris" so I asked the receptionist if she could check if Boris had the forms with him and she put me through to him and he said "yes I have some, how many weeks are you?" I said 25 and a half and told him Beryl had run out last week and then he said "why, are you desperate for cash or something?" And I said "Yes Boris actually I am, thanks"

Was that a bit rude of them? Why the heck are they so pissed about giving out this form at my m/w's? or is it just me? I felt like saying "Listen Beryl, and Boris, I'm entitled to this money, yes I'm short of cash, yes my dh IS a doctor and no we are NOT rich (which probably irritates them in it's own right since most m/w's hate doc's) and yes I'm not having my baby at your freaking hospital, and yes I'm having an elective section for no apparent reason that is good enough to you, and I don't give a rats what you think, so pull your bloody heads in and just give me the bloody form!!! Oh and while I'm on a roll Boris, your colleague Beryl looks like a man"

Clearly I didn't say that, but at least I did get the form.

The m/w at the hospital I'm at are SO nice in comparison, I think I'll ditch all my local appointments from now on.

Rant over....

*names changed

Beans33 · 29/04/2010 16:49

Cripes - I can't see the problem with you just popping in to get the bloody form! None of their business if you're strapped for cash.

Read this - it might cheer you up - hilarious!

It did! thanks Beans

Turniphead1 · 29/04/2010 18:41

Hilarious link Beans. aubi totally loving your budgie stories too! And Mac Veggie serial killing family dog. A very funny day's worth of pet stories.

Maybe our next thread should be called "Mac Flaps and Lavender's Blue Dilly Dilly" - now THAT would confuse people....

Rubes - they were all totally out of order. I can see why you were cross! I am sorry that this brought out a recovered memory of pet loss for you too.

Turniphead1 · 29/04/2010 18:42

Rubena "this" being the thread chat, not the snottiness about the maternity money thingy. Although that might not have helped.

Veggiemummy · 29/04/2010 18:55

Rubs I think a stern letter is in order. It's MW like then that make women scared of childbirth, they are clearly complete control freaks, and seem to enjoy making women miserable.

Beans33 · 29/04/2010 19:16

Turnip - that is a brilliant title! Well done you! I'm in! And not long to go til we need it - at our pace - just about 2 hours!!!

I was meant to be going to a drinks party with DH this evening and have said no as am exhausted - oh my God, I couldn't be more pleased I didn't go - have hit a total wall and think I'll be asleep by 8!

Also, no DH here tonight, so put DD down at 7 (he likes 7.30) - quiet time, story, then bed and she's silent - which is a miracle. Although I'm guessing there'll be squeaking soon enough! But so far so good...

Can't believe there's going to be rubbish weekend this weekend - so typical!

Of course I spoke to soon. Much roaring and rattling of cot going on. How to combat it, I wonder!
