Pav good luck to your dh for Sunday, sounds like he's doing so well. His current illness could well be a bit of withdrawal, certainly the headache will be. Lots of water to flush out the system helps. Great news on the school

Venus does he wake up because he's banged his head, or just waking up? I've never bothered with the bumpers with any of mine (despite buying material and stuffing last time ) and any bumping of the head soon stopped once they'd worked out what was happening. Up to you though obviously!

Well, we all seem to wake now around 6am. Am sure it's the light as it creeps over the tops of my curtains as they're tab topped. Not sure what to do really, not ready to move him to another room as, purely selfishly, I like not having to get out of bed for the 4am feed! DS1 then comes up as he's awake and can hear Ioan chatting. Can't really say go away when Ioan's in the bed already and it's quite sweet. Not sure I'll be as generous when I'm back at work though!!

misssese · 26/03/2010 10:36

Morning all i need to catch up on the thread so will have a read now! But firstly I am in need of some advice!

When Pearl for first born she used to Poo about 4 times a day! For the past couple of months this has dramatically reduce down to generally once a week. I have done some research and I know breastfed babies don't poo as often- using all the nutrients in the breast milk.

But decided to keep a poo diary ( I never thought I would be doing this lol ) over 3 weeks. Here it is does this seem normal?

WEEK 1
Monday:BM
Wednesday:BM
Thursday:BM
Sunday:BM

WEEK2
Sunday:BM

WEEK3
Wednesday:BM

I know the first week there are quite a few but thats its very uncommon and it generally is once a week. She is gaining weight and seems mainly happy! Am I worrying for no reason?

Thanks lovely will try catch up now!

Fruitpastels · 26/03/2010 10:45

Pav So pleased for you on the school!! You have every right to jump up and down and be happy

I'm always so tired after DH has been away for a few days. It takes me a good week to get back in my stride again.

I now need to catch up with the thread! Lots of chatting again

bluecardi · 26/03/2010 10:49

Hello - I'm bf & my dd has days with just wet nappies & then the lots of orangy/yellow poo for one or two nappies. It can go everywhere & have some interesting patterns on her vests & outfits lol. Be ready for the big nappy ...

Fruitpastels · 26/03/2010 10:55

Misssese DS doesn't poop very often either. He is bf and will only go every 9 days or so. Have been told by HV that's it's very common for bf babies as they use up all the nutrients from the milk and don't have much to dipose of. I was also told, as long as their stools were soft when baby eventually goes then nothing to worry about, as they're not constipated. We get to day 9 and he has about 3 lovely smelly nappies for me. It will all change when weaning comes in to place. Hope that reassures.

scarlotti · 26/03/2010 10:56

misssese sounds perfectly normal to me. We can go a week without a dirty nappy here. Have only noticed an increase now we've started on solids (purees). Luckily as it makes it thicker the explosive up the back poos seem to have diminshed!

raggie · 26/03/2010 11:13

Great news all round pav! Congrats on your school allocation! Sounds like your DH is doing well too, although I suppose the hardest bit is yet to come.

As I saidon Monday misssese and now to the rest of you who have infrequent poos - jealous! Rosa goes at least 3, sometimes 4 times a DAY! At least it's fairly regular times and she def has a poo face (!) so we know when they're coming! But now I wonder if she's just eating more than she needs? Ah, sure its all normal. As someone said awhile back, if they're happy chirpy, grinn-y babies we must be doing most things right.

wook got an interview for the job but when I spoke to the Head she said definitely no way to part-time. Never mind, more are coming up every day so happy to sit it out for something closer to the ideal for now. Good luck with your apps!

Rosa is a snotbag today. Poor snuffly wee thing, she keeps doing the sweetest sneezes!

all4u · 26/03/2010 11:18

Re Carmarthen
Do you realise this is the wettest part of Wales??? Take your waterproofs. National Botanic Garden of Wales your best bet.
HAGW!

VenusInfers · 26/03/2010 13:25

what was that? Some sort of weird advert or something?

Scarlotti pretty sure it's cos he's banged his head as it wasn't at the same times as when he used to wake in the night (all of 4 days ago). Will stuff something soft in there tonight and see if it helps.

BeckyBendyLegs · 26/03/2010 13:32

Not sure! But Camarthen is a nice place to go to, rain or no rain!

Toby is so itchy with his eczema again. It is breaking my heart to see him rub and rub and rub his head and back against anything he can to get relief.

Went to DS1's parents' evening last night. DS1 is doing pretty well. His teacher explained this weird system of levels 1a, 1b, 1c, and 2a, etc which I didn't quite get but he's 2c for numeracy and literacy which I gathered was good! And his teacher made me laugh because she said 'and he can count in sevens!' So later after school I'm talking the DSs out to buy DS1 a present for having a good parents' evening and DS2 a present for being a good boy at nursery (he didn't have a parents' evening but don't want him to feel left out).

BeckyBendyLegs · 26/03/2010 13:33

Taking not talking!

hobnob57 · 26/03/2010 14:01

Sirboob hope DP is ok. pav great news on school.

Thanks for your concern for Isla. She went to sleep after my last post last night and slept until ...hmmm actually I don't know. There was a feed in the night I think. Maybe 5 or 6 after her morning fart? I can't wait until passing wind becomes easier! Anyway, she was a tired out bunny. She had a big poo this morning which had lots of nasty bits in it like gut lining, which is usual for her after she's had something which doesn't agree with her. So I hope that's the end of it. She has been much better today. So I'll collect this new formula and try her with it next week maybe. Give her a chance to get over things. Poos are becoming increasingly infrequent here too - that's her getting rid of the formula she had a week ago. There's literally nothing we can do for her other than to change fully over to this neocate formula apparently. But the gastro said BF was good for her and to continue, which I would have done anyway. This upset is sub-clinical, just a bit difficult for us all.

Can anyone remember how often their 9mo fed for? I'm trying to work out if this fussing over formula is worth it or not if 9mos only have milk morning and evening. I can't for the life of me remember, but I know that DD1 had milk for snack morning and afternoon until recently, but I think that was more to keep her calcium levels up as she was otherwise dairy free. scarlotti I also can't remember how long DD1 had sore tums for. It's amazing how your brain rubs these things out! I suspect it was probably getting on for 9 months though. It certainly took her that long to be regularly sleeping through, even then it was usually up at 5:30 to begin the day!

hobnob57 · 26/03/2010 14:19

BBL when's your referral date for your wee mite?

wook · 26/03/2010 14:25

Raggie well done but also bah! what is wrong with all these people who think everyone should work full time all the time?! Everyone on a maximum four day week, that's what I will do when I am PM! Greater happiness for all! I have another interview, on April 23rd so long to wait!!
BBL congrats to your son, sounds like he's doing well!

misssese · 26/03/2010 14:39

Thanks everyone! I will stop worrying

Hobnob you poor thing. Hopefully with the new formula she will be a lot happier!
Pearl was not happy after her jabs on tuesday she had been fine with the others? She didn't get a temp but I decided to give her calpol but she continued to cry until DP came home-she fell asleep in his arms super dad!

venus don't want to worry you but we don't use bumpers at work due to safety. Sometimes little ones has wiggle themselves underneath the bumper causing suffocation But lots of people use them and have no problems.

uri I think I will give that book (no cry ) a try Pearl has started waking quite often during the night recently. Maybe a growth spurt but she doesn't seem to be feeding for long or possibly her teeth as a couple of times she has cried out which she doesn't normally do. But I couldn't leave her to cry firstly it would break my heart and secondly as I do go and pick her up now I feel it would be sending mixed messages. I just imagine her lying there thinking "mummy normally come's to get me why hasn't she come this time?"So think I would like it!

Have you heard about that little boy who was killed by babysitters ? Just seen it on the news ,its so upsetting

VenusInfers · 26/03/2010 15:13

Too late misssese, too late! I did wonder about that myself. Can't think how to make sure anything I put on is both soft and un-moveable at the same time. As he's wiggled anticlockwise both times I might put him down at 10past rather than on the hour (IYSWIM) so he has further to wriggle around before clonking his noggin.

Poor little Isla. Let's hope all that disagreeable stuff is well and truly out of her system and you all get a more restful weekend.

We're looking forward to our first non-family overnight visitors this weekend at Venus Towers. I am rather overexcited by the prospect. Ooops, baby is stirring, that's a shame as he's really pooped today and has only had 3 half hour naps despite a good long pram ride...

SirBoobAlot · 26/03/2010 15:48

RANT ALERT

Fucking fuckers. They haven't sent death certificates back with FIL so they will probably insist on a post mortem. Its not even a suspicious death FFS! Am in tears and bubbling with anger. Just to add more indignity to the situation.

I know I am unreasonably angry but still. DP was so desperate to avoid it.

tigger32 · 26/03/2010 17:00

Gosh so much to catch up on!

erika I'm so sorry for you and your dp, i can't imagine how terrible you must be feeling.

missese not sure if you've already sorted things re pooing but as part of my peer supporter course you are taught that babies just like adult all have very different pooing "timetables" some will be once a week some 3 or 4 times a day. As long as a baby has wet nappies every day and dirty nappies at least once a week/10 days and you don't feel that there are any health issues then its normal!

hobnob I think at 9 months a baby has an additional feed in the day time, but this could be given in a beaker/feeder cup. I think you could get away with just a morning and bedtime feed though if formula/bottles are a problem!

scarlotti · 26/03/2010 17:03

hobnob I can't remember exactly but am sure 9mo only have a bf morning and night, with the rest of their calcium requirements coming from milk in breakfast and cheese/yoghurt etc. I've just checked a book I have on weaning (GF though) and there it talks about 2 milk feeds from 9mo.

Venus Sounds like a fun weekend you have planned The only thing I can think of re bumping his head is to have something that goes down the side of the cot and under the mattress, so as to stop any chance of him wriggling under it.

BBL hooray for a good parents evening

Bit of a stressful day here, he's suffering after effects from his jabs and has been quite unsettled. Think there might be some teething going on too just to add to it all. Have had a busy day which doesn't help either, lots of rushing around!
Have also just realised that I haven't got my friend anything for her birthday and we're out for dinner tonight to celebrate. Sigh.

scarlotti · 26/03/2010 17:04

SirBoob meant to say sorry to hear about the mess up with the death certificate not what your dp needs really.

SirBoobAlot · 26/03/2010 17:13

Sorry for my language I'm just so upset, for myself, for DP, and especially for Bryn. Need a couple of glasses of wine cup of tea.

Am also having buggy problems, its not folding up properly sighs So am on ebay looking for another one.

Venus Bryn has done that several times - it was amusing to begin with and now its rather frustrating as the little darling doesn't even wait till I've finished tucking him in to start wiggling and turning. I've found if he's in a grobag he doesn't wiggle quite so much if that's any help?

Scarlotti give him a cuddle for me (he's so cuddle-able your little one!!) - I hope he feels better soon. Don't worry about the present and enjoy yourself tonight

Laugs · 26/03/2010 17:14

Erika Sorry to hear the situation is getting even more stressful

Hobnob I went back to work at 10 months and only gave milk morning and night. I didn't express and she wouldn't take a bottle, so I'm definite that was the only milk she had. I remember asking an HV what to do about her not taking a bottle at about 8/9 months and she said that she should be down to 2 feeds a day by then anyway. I suppose that might all be different if she turns out to have a dairy intolerance though.

Sleepless how's your DD2 getting on with her tummy trouble?

Missesse James has also been crying out as if in pain at night. It's horrible not knowing how to comfort them.

Well, it's a good job we have NO ROUTINE WHATSOEVER (gah!) as we have to get up at 3.30am to catch a train to London! Luckily, DD is very excited so is totally up for going to bed early. I'm not sure how to convey this message to James...
I'm trying to convince myself I won't be getting much less sleep than normal - 4 hours last night, 5 the few nights before... We really need a tired emoticon.

PavlovtheCat · 26/03/2010 18:03

Wiggly boy on my boob so typing one handed! He is figiting like crazy, DD started him off by having a tantrum and he was intrigued so pulled away {ouch} and then he kept doing it, and laughing/cooing while biting down! [ouch] again!

laugs what are you going to London for? Airport? I probably missed your post, but you were going somewhere exotic weren't you? or was that someone else? We went to USA with DD when she was 5 months and had to leave at 3am or so, it was hard to wake her up, but then she went to sleep again in the car. But she was very used to travelling, as we spent most of our time up and down to London while my mum was ill (every other weekend, i can do Devon to Kent in 5 hours ).

hobnob i fed 4 times a day until about 9 months, dropped to 3 for about a month or so, then DD decided she wanted a bottle only and weaned herself off at about 10/11 month! For a short while first we went down to 2 feeds but she was small and needed to be fed every 4 hours or so as she did not take lots of milk at a time. My friend has an 8 month old and she has just returned to work, her DH is looking after the baby for now, and she feeds in the morning before work (about 8am) and when she gets home at around 5:30pm. So far, she is absolutely fine in the day on just solids/water and has not been upset at no milk. She is offered some formula, sometimes takes a little, more often not.

BeckyBendyLegs · 26/03/2010 18:14

Please someone tell DS2 to EAT HIS TEA!!!! DH is in Manchester on a leaving do drinks so it is me in charge till bedtime!

SirBoob I feel for you and your DP at the mo.

Please also someone tell DC1 (dear cat 1) to NOT USE THE HOUSE AS A LITTER TRAY! I can't cope anymore with the crapping cat! She's getting on a bit so we suspect she just doesn't want to go outside anymore but I have enough to cope with with three bottoms to wipe, I don't need another bottom to worry about.

PavlovtheCat · 26/03/2010 18:17

Dear child 2 - EAT YOUR TEA
Dear cat 1 - using the house as a litter tray is a surefire way to be evicted STOP IT!

That ok BBL?
