hi everyone - essie so sorry to hear about your cousin. My mother had cancer/nodes in her neck removed adn got the all clear. I know its not quite the same (esp as I wasnt young at time and I do think young children makes a horrible poignancy to things like this) but fingers crossed.

spider hopefully things will get better soon - I think that last bit of the first trimester was the pits. I do remember thinking if I didn't know I was pregnant I'd be very worried about what was wrong with me as I had no energy at all. Neenz that seems to have flown by (maybe not for you!!) as seems only yesterday you announced your news.

hi bugger nice to hear from you.

Had my op on thursday and all seems to have gone well (apart from being dead ropy on thursday/friday after the GA).. haven't taken the plaster off yet but apart from bit of ache/bruising , its not too bad. Have also managed my to avoid my nightmare of toddler related incident with it (although E was showing signs of wanting to take the sticker off mama earlier so had to get dressed and hide it quickly).

Hope everyone else had nice day too -lovely weather here so spent most of day in garden which was lovely.

sponge good to hear from you and glad you have a move date.

see thread here - is anyone else dead careful of their los around big play stuff (I'm not talking soft play or stuff that is aimed at younger kids and not so far off the ground) or am I just v.pfb as I was a bit shocked - the stuff in our local play areas is about 5 or 6 foot up and has ropes/chains so could do a toddler a fair bit of damage if they fell toddlers in playgrounds

Essie, what an awful time for your cousin. I'm not surprised her dh is not dealing with it well . And DG, how sad for your friend too - I cannot imagine how I would cope with losing dh, it would tear me apart .

Welcome back bugger.

spider, sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, although brilliant about P sleeping!

Just a quick post as we've had a long day at Wisley and the boys took a while to settle as they were both so tired. It was absolutely beautiful today - the weather has really lifted my spirits .

Funny story tonight, A needed a clean up before bath as he'd done a dirty nappy so I laid him on the change mat and cleaned him up then left him to wander around for some nappy-free time. I went into the bathroom to see dh and came back into the bedroom in time to see A standing on the change mat having a wee!!

I was v impressed that he associated the change mat with the loo and specifically went there rather than on the carpet - do you think he's ready for potty training?

Hi to everyone else x

EssieAmma · 19/04/2010 13:06

Somebody post something!

EddieIzzardismyhero · 19/04/2010 16:27

I want to kill my solicitor!

Is that any good? : )

EssieAmma · 19/04/2010 16:33

Oh, I thought you were my DH. He says that pretty much every day!!

My post is that I finished teaching until next term today. Yaaaaaay!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 19/04/2010 16:33

I could cheerfully throttle my boss

SpiderWilliam · 19/04/2010 17:23

I went to a garden centre today, and, wait for it, yes, I bought some plants.

neenz · 19/04/2010 17:33

Spider, sorry you are feeling rubbish, I remember it well (and vowed never to have any more children - changed my mind on that again now tho, it's funny how you forget ). At 10wks I started to feel a little bit better (and started worrying something was wrong), but it was 13wks when it went completely. Since then I have hardly felt pg at all, it has been wonderful, until just this last week when I have started to feel quite tired (had another lunch nap today ) and sometimes a bit uncomfortable. So hopefully you will get to the full of energy stage very soon. Fingers crossed for the scan - it's such a worrying time isn't it, I am sure being on MN makes you worry a lot more. Great news about P's sleep too.

Eddie, it's so strangely exciting when they do stuff like that isn't it . I have been trying to get T and E to tell me when they have had a poo but had no luck. If I say 'have you done a poo' T will say yes or no and it will bear no relation to whether he has or not. We have the potty out before bathtime as they have nappy off time, and they will sit on it, then wee on the floor. But today E said 'poo - upstairs' and toddled off toward the stairs - she had done a poo and was off upstairs to have her nappy changed. I was so proud! I am not thinking of doing any real potty training till the new baby is about 3mths old tho cos I think trying to train twins and have a newborn is a bit much. I am actually not really looking forward to the bit where the twins are trained and need me to take them to the toilet - I envisage a bit of a nightmare tbh, like if one wants to go and the other refuses or they just constantly ask to go. Double the work, double the pleasure so they say .

Poppy, I know what you mean about outside toys, I have stopped going to Friday playgroup because they have tall outside toys that the twins need me to help them with - I can't be bothered with that . They are good on a slide though, obviously not too big tho. Glad the op went well - do they think they have got rid of the lump completely? Do they have any idea why it happened?

abdnhiker · 19/04/2010 17:47

I just finished a day of work - and I actually called clients/contacts. I used to hate the phone so much that I'd never even phone to order pizza. Either I'm completely seduced by money or I'm growing up.

It was a good day to work - it snowed here this morning (but melted on contact).

neenz a plastic potty will be your friend - get one in each part the house and then you wont get caught if one needs to go and the other wants to play.

Fraser will sit on the toilet and make himself fart - he thinks it's brilliant because DS1 has told him that he's going to the toilet like a big boy. I'm not ready to jump into real potty training though - not until late summer I expect.

Poppy DS1 had a very bad fall off a high playground bit when he was 23 months old. He was on a walkway that had bars for sidewalls but fell and rolled and managed to somehow roll under the bars and fell about 7 feet. He was okay eventually but very shook up and went into shock and probably had a concussion. It was horrible and I'm cautious as a result. He is a really active coordinated kid too, but just fell funny. Hope your recovery is okay.

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 19/04/2010 18:54

Goddess/Biscuits - yes, would love to meet up - zoo sounds good, or more than happy to have you round. We have the fence and gate sorted on the garden, but no grass til May unfortunately - so maybe we could do it later on in the summer. I'm working full time, so either a weekend or I can take a day off. Abdn, would be lovely to hook up if you're going to be in the central belt any time?

I have nothing of note to post I'm afraid - glad Monday is over!

PiggyPenguin · 19/04/2010 19:46

Sponge I am annoyed with the people we are buying from. They have decided to pull out of their purchase and now have to find something else. And they are incredibly picky. We may have to move into rented to keep our buyer, which we absolutely do not want to do.

J always tells us when he has done a poo. He goes off to do it by himself, and walks up to either me or dh, pats his bum and says 'poo!'. Obviously his communication is advanced in some areas!

DebInAustria · 19/04/2010 19:53

Hi I'm here too.

Spider, great news about P's sleep - what great timing that boy has!! Hope the next 2 weeks fly by for you

Neenz- your pregnancy seems to be going at double time for me, suppose it's not for you

Poppy- glad your op went well, after all the worry

Hi to everyone else

news here is that the offer papers have been sent out to the couple, they will sign them and then they come back to us(hopefully not by air mail), so until then we don't know what the offer is and the people are coming back for a meeting with us on 1st May.It's all very strange.

Our friends are still here with us, should have gone last Friday, flight was rescheduled for this Wednesday and then cancelled yesterday, don't really know what's happening.

Rolf · 19/04/2010 19:53

Poppy v glad your operation went ok . How are you feeling now?

T tells me when she's pood. She comes over to me, clutches her bum and says "stink" (well, "di"!). The others were all easily 3 before they were potty trained, so I'm definitely not rushing it.

Abdn well done on your telephone maturity . I can't believe it snowed.

DebInAustria · 19/04/2010 19:54

oh sybil, what a pain

DebInAustria · 19/04/2010 19:55

Ethan also informs me when he's pood too

Rolf, S and T were also just 3 when they potty trained

abdnhiker · 19/04/2010 20:02

sybil how frustrating. Would you consider looking for other houses? We did end up here because it was empty (owner had died) and available quickly and it was the luckiest move ever. We might have got a slightly bigger house but could never have got such wonderful neighbours.

Deb wow - did I miss this? I will keep my fingers tightly crossed for you. Hope your friends are okay and not too stressed about getting home.

Fraser definitely lies about poo if he doesn't want to stop playing. That's a pretty strong sign he's not ready to potty train....

Rolf thank you I hate the phone so much that this is a bigger deal than it sounds.

bugger et al - I'd love to make it to the central belt - definitely keep me informed - but probably wont ever make it. It sounds so much closer than it is but you never know, I might find a way to combine it with another trip sometime. I really want to do a St. Andrews weekend again soon - after DH's big cycle sportive in Pitlochry in May though as all weekends are devoted to training at the moment.

neenz · 19/04/2010 20:11

Well E had another poo after tea and didn't tell me so maybe first time was just a fluke . Abdn, it's not so much in the house that I am bothered about taking them to the toilet, it is more when we are out and about like at playgroup when I think it could be a nightmare. I am quite relaxed about leaving them on their own downstairs actually , like today I changed E's nappy upstairs while T played in the garden. If it is only a couple of minutes I think they are fine. That is a difficulty with real nappies tho cos I have to change them near where the nappy bucket, toilet and wipes are. With disposables I could just change them downstairs and stick the nappy and wipes in the bin. Oh well .

Is anyone else finding that their real nappies are getting a bit small now? I am using Motherease and they are very snug on T. I sometimes wonder if I might be doing him some damage cos they are so tight. Is that possible? He doesn't complain once he has the nappy on but he complains very loudly when I change him, but I figure that is pretty normal. Sometimes his little willy and balls seem all squashed up when I take his nappy off.

DH is out at Anfield tonight which is usually quite nice cos I get to watch what I want on the telly, but there is nothing on and I have run out of stuff on Sky Plus. So I might make a nuisance of myself on MN instead .

Sybil, how annoying about your house. I hope they find something soon so you don't have to rent. It's the moving twice that's so bad isn't it.

Deb, that's a nightmare for your friends. Some of the restrictions have been lifted so hopefully they will get a flight soon. I thought it was a bit that as soon as the airlines started complaining about how much money they were losing suddenly it's safe to fly even though the volcano is still erupting and the ash cloud is still there. The say they 'always put passenger safety first'. Yeah, big business has never put profits before safety has it .

neenz · 19/04/2010 20:13

Has anyone acutally seen any evidence of this ash cloud? We have had nothing but beautiful weather for days.

Debs, is the offer someone wanting to buy your place?

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 19/04/2010 20:39

I don't think the ash cloud affects the weather Neenz (but I could be completely wrong!). I now have the joy of spending almost two full days in a car journey because I need to go to a one hour meeting down south which cannot be re-arranged and I must go to . Was due to fly up and down in a day on Wed, but can't take the risk that there won't be a flight. Could really do without it. Grrr, pesky ash cloud.

Not even thinking about potty training here. S goes very quiet if he's doing a poo and will also say he hasn't done one if he doesn't fancy stopping playing to go for a nappy change.

Sybil sorry to hear about your house mare. Hope you do't have to rent. Fingers crossed for you Deb.

Glad you're up for a meetup Bugger and it would be fab if you could come down for a meetup Abdn. Will see how bIscuit is fixed and see if we can arrange something.

EssieAmma · 19/04/2010 20:49

Gosh, it got busy on here!
Fingers crossed that things work out for sellers and buyers.
Strangely jealous of the poo talk. Iestyn tends to lie when i ask him if he's pooed (!) so it's yes if not, no if he has. I won't rush to get the potty out...

Not much to report here. Although Neenz is right, nothing on the telly, so I spent my time decorating my gingerbread men. Too much time... (see facebook).
I'm pleased that I managed to restrain myself because I decorated one for my Mum and one for my Dad (who came round to fix my gate). He requested a willy on his then changed his mind because he said mum would be annoyed. Quite right, and my gingerbread men are fully clothed thank you very much! (My Dad is clearly going through A Phase, because this morning he sang some alternative words to a song my Mum and I were singing for Iestyn and it was shockingly dirty, about a giant willy. We smacked him. (Dad, not Iestyn.) Perhaps it's a 5 year old willy humour phase. Bless him.)

I'm working from home tomorrow - my new washer dryer is coming. Hallelujah. I've had nothing but problems with my old one although I'm still annoyed that DH arranged to have it taken away when it's basically a machine which works badly, rather than completely broken and useless. Still, I'm glad to be shot of it deep down.

EssieAmma · 19/04/2010 20:50

Swimming costume man has...drowned... Lovely!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 19/04/2010 21:09

DGIT and bugger a meet up sounds good. mondays are good for me too, could do a weekend day as well, so long as it doesn't clash with on call.

neenz we've got nasty ashy rain marks on our car.

essie LOL at your Dad and his willy obsession!

sybil grr at your house vendors.

deb fingers crossed, sounds like a complicated system there!

can't remember what else I was going to say.

neenz · 19/04/2010 22:12

DG, no the ash cloud doesn't affect the weather . I just wondered if anyone had seen it cos we have had mostly beautiful blue skies here.

SpiderWilliam · 20/04/2010 07:14

Not caught up, but quickly to say that if anyone needs summer grobags bump to 3 have them on buy one get one half price ATM: here

back later...

ktpie · 20/04/2010 10:45

I was going to ask about potty training, the other day J was obviously doing a poo and seemed really uncomfortable about it, like he didn't know where to put himself, so I got the potty out and he has sat on it fully clothed a few times.

J still doesn't say much, apart from Baby which is very much his favourite word, sometimes he falls asleep singing 'Baby, baby, baby...' then yesterday he piped up with 'There you are' as he tried to give me a drink from his cup.

Spider - hope you feel better soon, I felt rotten throughout my pregnancy (that's probably not what you want to hear) and hardly did anything for 9 months, I now get more done in a morning than I would in a week when I was pregnant.

Neenz - I use the flat terries so it's easy to make them bigger, but I do use motherease wraps, J is in medium on the largest setting or large on the smallest. H is in small or medium (he is a big baby!).
I got a change mat to put downstairs when I had H (should have got it when I was pregnant) and I just bring the nappy bucket down during the day. I tend to have a load of nappies, wipes etc downstairs drying anyway.

Poppy - glad to hear your op went well.

We've been out in the garden a lot, J has a little gardening set and spends a lot of time watering the strawberries for me.

H laughed for the first time yesterday, at J pulling funny faces, it was very cute.

Deb - hope the offer works out.

Better go, speaking of nappies, H needs a fresh one.
