No stats this time .

Was your omelette plain myjob, or cheese (don't all omelettes benefit from cheese?!). If cheese then I might start to question the amount of it that you eat - it is very high in fat. I'm guessing that your coleslaw was either home made or a low fat version?

Dh found out this morning that he's going to be out of work again after this month . We're hoping it won't be for very long, but it wasn't meant to be for long last year and ended up being 8 months.

Yay for scan being clear pepper, but for still not having a clue what's causing the pain!

Oh CSWS, what bad news , not at all what you need now. Are we talking difficult financially or impossible?

Sorry that was a bit rude! I ask as a woman who actually had to empty her childrens bank accounts last year to pay the mortgage/eat.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/03/2010 20:23

Oh not impossible at all pepper. Thankfully when dh is earning he earns well, and we do put money aside (we have a flexible mortgage so can pile money in and take it out if/when we have to - it just means that the mortgage won't be paid off nearly as early as it would have, which of course could have a knock on effect on our ability to pay private school fees for secondary level). We were about to splash out on a fairly expensive landrover discovery though - have been scouring the ads daily for the right one, but now we might have to wait a bit or get an older one than we really wanted.

at your opinion of low fat coleslaw. I am rather inclined to agree. I love M&S traditional coleslaw personally.
Should have known that your cheese would be a tiny portion!

Blimey pepper - hope things are easier for you now. I can't raid the dc bank accounts, as all their money is in their trust funds. Would have to raid the in-laws instead, like they did to us when they were skint a few years back .

blimey myjob - dh would eat a 3 egg omelette by himself and still be hungry!

at you thinking it would be £1100 extra for your watch pistachio. Is that because you thought you'd have to pay the full value? What brand it it?

Pepper - I'm glad the scan went OK. It's funny how you can hold all that tension and not realise till it's gone.

I would probably use 3 eggs for me and S to make a reasonable sized lunch.

Great news about the watch Pistachio.

Sorry to hear about your DH's work situation CSWS. Dp's in the same boat. On a contract until the end of the tax year. He's applying for other things but nothing's materialised so far.

Well we negotiated it down to half a day each! It's my one day out of class today to get everything done for the next 2 weeks for me and my job share partner so I would have been really stuffed if I couldn't go in at all. Off in a minute so I can get an early start.

50ftQueenie · 10/03/2010 08:13

Morning! Had a really good but really busy day yesterday which involved a non-napping M. Will tell you more later when I get the chance....

Glad all is ok pepper

csws how awful about the job. I hope he can find something else soon.

myjob that doesn't sound like enough food tbcompletelyh(and blunt) It's COLD here. Kids are eating snack and I said no to going outside .

I'm glad that you worked things out aubergenie. I hope S is on the mend, soon. It is so hard to work out who will stay home... especially when both have a lot on at the same time.

Glad you got the watch sorted, pistachio!

I still feel ill. yuck. congested and foggy and horrid.

oh I simply dread the day when dh tells me he wants us all go to camping...
but I'm sure it will be fun...
I used to enjoy it. I just don't anymore.

Ekka · 10/03/2010 12:39

Pistachio - sorry your dc's are whingy. Must be something in the air, mine have been awful at home, but were perfect little angels at toddler group

Myjob/Star - sorry you aren't feeling well.

And good luck to you on the camping myjob - you are a braver woman than me!

CSWS, really sorry to hear about dh's work, I suppose, to try and look on the bright side, it may mean he is at home when dc3 is born? I hope he finds something soon though - I'm sure you don't want too much uncertainty at the moment....

Pepper, glad to hear your docs appt went ok, shame they still haven't got to the bottom of the problem though.

I'm stiff and sore this morning as I used my child-free day yesterday to dig over a really messy overrun part of our garden to create a veg patch for dh for his birthday (today). Its a 12' x 12' space and I hadn't realised quite how much hard work it would be. I managed to dig up grass/level the soil/lay weed-proof membrane then put in the raised beds and plant some raspberry canes and a couple of fruit bushes. It took me all day, but luckily dh was really pleased when he finally saw it this morning and it was definitely a surprise. He is off today, so has gone to get KFC for lunch (his choice ) and then we'll have his birthday cake! Sadly he then has to help me take the dc's for their swine flu jab this afternoon - wish us luck!

Ekka · 10/03/2010 12:40

Sorry to rabbit on about the gardening there I am childishly pleased about how well it turned out, given that my gardening ideas often aren't very successful!

Wow Ekka - very impressive!
My birthday is 1st August if you'd like to do the same for me .

I think that my household would be closer to yours than myjob's with the colouring pistachio. It has worked on occasion, but ds has been too whiney and grabby the last couple of months or so (since we re-introduced dairy - noticing a theme here?!)

Ekka - I certainly hope that dh won't still be out of work when dc3 arrives! He really should be back by then, as new project is currently forecast to start mid-July, and he would hopefully get involved right at the start if not before. Prob co-incide bang on with baby's arrival . He should be able to help over Easter hols though!

Have just been attempting to make chocolate cups whilst ds naps. I'd intended to use some from M&S, but mine were out of date, and having phoned 4 branches I can't find any in stock. They are such a faff! Better go check the moulds in the freezer and see if they are ready for a second coat before the rest of the melted choc goes hard.
