Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

HM thanks so much for asking. DH has been a lot better thanks, I don't know why, I think maybe he was suffering for quite a while in silence and then talking to me about it got it all out in the open and helped?? He's 90% back to normal, and I love it!!!

youknowmeasharimo · 09/09/2010 18:16

I agree about the not rushing kids.

My DSD2 wore night pants until she was 4 and I think that has made me much less concerned about the whole thing.

shonnomanom · 09/09/2010 20:39

dd has been in the cot bed since about feb-mar time I think. She loves it, but she loves coming through and curling up next to me early morning even better. We really only use the gate on bad nights, which (touch wood) arent that often.

Lucky thats great that mr lucky is feeling in the pink again! Long may it continue.

My sisil has just whispered that she is ttc. With all the problems with trying to move to Oz their looking at a few years before they will be leaving here. So theyv decided to get a start on things. She's already had one mis the year before dd was conceived so she's apprehensive about the time ahead. It is very exciting stuff!!

I totally agree that our lo's are amazing. And wathcing and listening to dd play makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I just love listening to her sing, its soo cute. But then we have days like today where she was in no uncertain terms a Drama Queen. But tommorow is another day...

Hope your all well, it is great having some live on the old thread again

Willabywallaby · 11/09/2010 22:47

Just wanted to say a quick hello!

Hope you're all well.

DS1's 1st day at school this week, all went quite well. Got to plan his 5th birthday party at the end of the month. Left it too late to book the soft play area he likes, so was considering a home party. Don't feel 3 week is enough time to plan! Also have the who to invite from school option.

Have decided not to go to Abu Dhabi in Oct half term now, again left it too late and the tickets are up to £580 each. Will be looking for a last minute canaries I think.

MM good to hear from you, and well done all you others for keeping it going.

Great news about your DH LM.

Sho sounds like the brownie pack is going well.

HM how's your MIL?

Mitchell well done on all your coursework!

Baiyu hope the move went well and the count down is growing.

Pipoca are you still out there?

Hope you're all having a good weekend and Grin to the ones I missed x

youknowmeasharimo · 14/09/2010 13:10

Hi guys!

MIL is ok, WW - thanks... I'm quite close to her, so have phoned her a few times and a couple of those times she's sounded a bit 'hyper' but overall she is coping OK, I think.

parties are a nightmare I am not looking forward to!! I've been through all of this with DSDs and my gut feel is, while they are under 10, just go for cheap and cheerful and invite everyone... Once they are older than 10, limit numbers and go for a better venue... My DSD2 (13) is having her next birthday party in a private cinema in London, with a stretch hummer (DSD1 had her 13th at HRC also with stretch hummer)

Baiyu - Are you in the new house? Hope its lovely and you are happy there

LM - Great news about DH! Grin It's my wedding anniversary today, bit of a none event, really Sad. I really wish I could think of a wonderful pressie for DH, but I can't Sad

Well, not much news here. Was supposed to take Mims to a gym class today, but just as it started, my nanny called to say Haribo had fallen down the stairs Hmm. He's fine, but I had to come home... They are both asleep now.

I have a question for you all (and apologies to all of you who think Christmas shouldn't be mentioned for several months yet!) but what are you all thinking of getting / doing for your LOs?

my kids have (i) far too many clothes (ii) far too many toys (iii) everything the could concievably need at the moment... In fact, my house (which, by most people's standards, is pretty large) is now full to bursting point (I am just in the process of hiring a storage unit!! Blush) so just wondering what to do about Christmas. I think they are a bit young for Lapland / Iceland (or are they??? Confused) and anyway, I'd kind of been saving that as my 40th birthday treat (they will be 4 and 5 then and I think at a great age to enjoy father Christmas... They won't believe in Father Christmas for longer than about 5 as neither DH or I believe in stringing them a long. As soon as they are old enough to understand, we will tell them.. so yes, my kids will probably be the ones all the other parents are complaining about for telling thier kids that Santa isn't real Grin Blush) Anyone got any good ideas?

And what about ethical presents for other people? I'm afraid after 12 years of being given handmade mugs and plates (I started with the DSDs Blush), most people are pretty fed up of them... Ive given everyone trees, recycled cashmere and scupltures made out of old tin cans... I need some new ideas!

Well, off to check on Haribo again.

HM xx

Willabywallaby · 14/09/2010 19:22

Still not got DS1 anything for his birthday which is in 16 days, so no chance for any Christmas pressie ideas until at least October!

Don't really want to invite all of his class to his party, with his out of school friends it'll come to at least 30 and at £9 a head without party bags that's adding up to far too much IMO.

Hopefully by the weekend he'll have decided at least 5 he likes.

The other thing is that some of the Mum's are well groomed and probably won't approve of the venue so don't want everyone to come myself.

One of the things that puts me off having a home one is the thought of them all nosing at my large but middle aged house (we've only redecorated rooms for the boys and we've lived here 4 years Blush).

HMI hope Haribo is ok and congrats on your anniversary, I never buy DH a pressie....

baiyu · 14/09/2010 22:13

Evening all, rather crazy around here in box city but at least the boxes are now in lovely new house even if i don't have the energy to unpack them! Did rather too much scrubbing of old house for a heavily pregnant person I think, totally exhausted. Getting rather paranoid about an early baby! All fine though.
Enjoyed reading everyones news, will reply properly when I'm more awake!

shonnomanom · 15/09/2010 13:55

Hi

Baiyu congrats on the new house, I hope you get time to get settled in before junior arrives.

HM I think the kids would get more out of Lapland in a few years time rather than just now.
I havent gave too much thought to christmas just yet, there are quite a few birthdays to get past first. But I had noticed that dd has taken a shine to the play doctors kit at work so I have thought about going down that line. Their still young enough that they dont need anything huge so we can get away with little things for now..

Mitchell81 · 16/09/2010 12:38

Baiyu, can't believe you going to have your baby next month, hope you managing to unpack your boxes.

Sho Have you used those ovulation kits, I did this month as would like to know for next month. I only ovulated on day 20 of my cycle, not sure how long my cycle is as haven't had a proper cycle since coming off contraception but it does seem very late.

Willabywallaby Kids parties are so expensive, hope you got everything sorted

Harimo I agree kids won't remember Lapland so best to wait abit, Ashton was 3 when we went to Atlantis in dubai a year ago and doesn't remember. RE: christmas presents not really thought about it but I know the kids have too many toys so won't be toys, maybe a ride on car to share for the field behind us. But still unsure as if the winter is a bad this year as last winter won't even be able to try it for the first 3 months after christmas. (So a little cruel to buy a present which they can't use Grin Blush)

Lucky Glad to hear DH is feeling better, hows the extra work going, don't want to put extra info on here ykwim?

shonnomanom · 16/09/2010 13:48

Mitchell, yes I have been using the ovulation kits this time. Their not cheap are they?! My biggest problem is that my periods are unpredictable, ie, if I have 2 in a 2 month span we're doing good iykwim. Good luck and have fun in the trying. sho x

Willabywallaby · 16/09/2010 16:16

Started a thread in behaviour about DS1 at school Sad.

youknowmeasharimo · 17/09/2010 17:16

WW - glad today was better... I'm sure its just settling in! How are the party plans coming along?

Sho and Mitchell - Good luck with the TTC!

Baiyu - glad the move went well...

Well, not much to report here. I had my first day of having a nanny all day on a friday and have started a boot camp... was lovely actually and I enjoyed it far more than a PT on my own in the back garden!

Haribo's speech is coming on brilliantly now - He's gaining a word or two a day. Dont get me wrong, we are still way behind most kids his age and he still reverts to grunting at me when he gets frustrated, but we are making real progress now!

Mims is also developing so fast now.. She is walking unaided (took her first steps at gym class this morning) and is babbling SOOO much.. She has about 10 words now - which is probably totally normal, but I find amazing, as Haribo didn't say a word at her age!!

Ah well, hope you are all well.

Lucky - hope the business is a great success!

HM x

youknowmeasharimo · 17/09/2010 17:46

Also, just wanted to ask you all: Are you planning to take your 2YOs to a firework display?

I have avoided taking Haribo so far - simply because it's late and he was young, but I think he might be up for it this year?

Mitchell81 · 18/09/2010 07:13

RE: Fireworks, Yes have taken DS1 and DS2 every year and both have enjoyed it, our local one starts at 6:30 so not too late and the kids love it as with all their friends and its dark and they get glow sticks. Grin

Lucky2010 · 18/09/2010 23:49

We have wireless now!!! I am in bed!!!! this is all very ne wand exciting!

WW I had a party at home for 8 of DD1's friends. Slight problem was that all the Mum's and siblings stayed, so it was quite busy, but manageable. I'm afraid I refuse to pay out on hall hire and entertainers for a 4 year old. Call me tight, but I just think at that age a small party at home with closer friends rather than whole class is sufficient. Also, most of the kids did the whole hall/entertainer thing, even booking the same entertainer, so all their parties were the same, but DD1#s was different and memorable Grin. I know what you mean about not wanting certain people at the house. I love my house, it was built in the 1970's so it's very spacious and it's all been decorated since we moved in, but most of the class live in a massive new housing development in the town and in very modern trendy houses.

Not really thinking about Christmas yet sorry HM. Ask me again in a month!

Yes will probably take them to fireworks.

Sho, my periods were very irregular, I started taking my temp and charting it and got pg the following month (after a year of TTC). It's worth a go. Kits in Boots.

New business going well ta. Nice being back in the water Grin.

Yay to wireless!

baiyu how's the new place?

Probably won't do fireworks unless we go to ILs and then we stand in the conservatory, DS1 is still a bit cautious.

I have a period whinge......I started taking a mini pill which is like the hormones in the merina (sp?) coil and am on day 18 and still bleeding. Nothing major but getting a bit fed up of it now. My GP friend reassures me it can happen, but had enough!

youknowmeasharimo · 20/09/2010 15:09

Wireless will change your life LM - YOu will wonder how you lived without it in about a week!!!!!

I'm a bit out of touch with parties, i guess, Im afraid the general rule we have with the DSDs is that their mum decides what needs doing and we get handed the bill Angry... not really worth arguing about, but my DSDs have always had massive parties.

Weve put our foot down over DSD2's 13th, because her mum wanted to bring her new boyF but I was supposed to stay at home (even though Dh and I are paying 100% for it and organising it)... pretty typical of DSDs mum, I have to say.

Oh well, best get on... Mims a bit under the weather at the mo... explosive nappies and projectile puke Sad... Even harder to deal with as she is usually such a happy little sausage, so its hard seeing her not feeling herself Sad

Willabywallaby · 20/09/2010 18:30

So pleased I've booked a trip to Tenerife for half term!

youknowmeasharimo · 20/09/2010 19:56

Well done, WW - how is DS at school now?

Willabywallaby · 21/09/2010 07:17

He's fine thanks HM, we now have a chat book that the teacher or I can write in if we need to communicate something. Numeracy and literacy evening Thursday!

youknowmeasharimo · 21/09/2010 07:29

Ahh, that's great news, WW... I am both excited and dreading DS (and DD) going to school Blush

We are just looking at a final selection (for we, read me!) I had chosen one (where DSDs go to school) but it's a very town based school (think Eton... where the kids are wandering around town alot)... the girls school isn't too bad, but the boys school is awful - and the pre-prep is just as bad... I want somewhere DS and DD can RUN and feel free, I suppose like I did as a child Smile

Well, we've been up since 2:45 Confused Both Haribo and Mims have tummy bugs and, believe me, it's NOT NICE...

Hope you all have good days,

HM x

shonnomanom · 22/09/2010 13:49

Willabywallaby · 22/09/2010 14:34

Just thought I'd post a hello! Grin

Lucky2010 · 23/09/2010 13:38

HI all,

For those of you who didn't see on FB, I am very chuffed to have sold my Bugaboo and the matching footmuff for £231!!!!!! Yipee!
I'll def be very sad to see it go, it has lots of memories for me. My gorgeous girls grew up in it Sad.

DD2 started playgroup yesterday. 2 mornings a week, she got on fine and enjoyed it. I'll probably put her up to 3 mornings after Christmas.

DD1 is enjoying full time school. I am enjoying the peace Grin.

Hydro is going really well, had the second session today and the people who had been last week had had good improvement in their symptoms Grin.

Baiyu you must be about to pop?? Hope you are settled in your new house.

HM I'm glad my school choice is straight forward....(i.e. the local catholic one) as it sounds like a nightmare having to choose!

WW I am very Envy of your holiday booked for half term!

Hope all are well!!

youknowmeasharimo · 23/09/2010 19:08

Hi!!

Congratulations again, LM on selling the bugaboo! and on the hydro business.. I know how you feel, though, about getting rid of things... I've just cleared out all the baby stuff for a friend's sister... Couldn't help but keep a few things Blush... esp the kids 'coming home' outfits. I know it's a bit sentimental, but they were two amazingly special days for me...

I know what you mean about schools... I do rather wish I hadn't started looking at other schools as, before I did, I was quite happy with Berkhamsted.. I mean, it IS a great school and Ofsted have consistently given it an outstanding rating, so not sure I'm just being overly fussy Hmm

My two are thankfully over their sickness bug and I have my sister down with me for a few days... She is currently reading Haribo is bedtime stories while I mumsnet do important motherly duties Wink

WW - Tenerife at HT will be gorgeous!!

Sho - Couldnt agree more abouh language and skills of our LOs now... Progress is amazing here too Grin

Well, we live at the top of a rather large hill that looks over the valley and right now I'm watching a pretty amazing thunder storm roll over the valley. Rain is out of this world!! Thankfully, neither of my kids nor the dog is at all concened with electrical storms.

Hope you are all keeping well.
