Sorry only just caught up on yesterday - Dizzy good to see you back!

Pertelote and if you stay up even later I'm here too

Cyteen I too was crying reading your posts. Am glad that you feel able to tell us all about it and that you get some comfort from what others have to say. I can't imagine how you have managed to deal with such tragedy in your life and still come through a wonderful strong woman and now mother. Sorry if I sounded trite moaning about my Mum and Dad coming to stay for 6 weeks I'm sure that would be the least of your worries.

Miamla I have mentioned on here before about my crazy FIL anyway he was going to attend SIL's wedding but when she told him that her brother (i.e DH) was going to give her away he decided to tell us all that he had SARS and couldn't come to the wedding. When we went to see him in China in 2007 he felt the need to justify this story to us again - as if we believed him the first time - he was just p*ssed off that he didn't get to give his daughter away! He didn't come to our wedding either but that was probably because DH didn't invite him as he thought it would ruin MILs day.

Speaking of meet ups I realise that some of you will be attending the first of the weddings of the year but I will be in Leeds area (staying in a cottage near Skipton I think) from 27 to 6 April (Easter weekend pretty much ruled out as family start arriving for DBs wedding on 5th) but if any of you are around would be lovely to meet you.

GladioliBuckets · 02/03/2010 07:16

My fave Vonnegut quote which would also suit bridal lockets/speech/life: 'If this isn't nice, what is?'

dizzydixies · 02/03/2010 07:39

oh oh, is Skipton in Scotland

morning all, DD3 been up since 06:30 and the other two tromped downstairs at 7am so I sent them back up, they're now banging about in their bedroom so no doubt will waken DH at some point, should really go and get them down

at least the sun is shining

oopsandbabycoconut · 02/03/2010 08:36

Morning all

Puke free so far but nagging for more flakes and yogurt and toast and nananas and more food.

Am going to risk taking her to the park and hope we don't run into anyone who knows she was ill.

cyteen · 02/03/2010 08:57

Morning all Woken up to the second day in a row of hazy spring sunshine, so feeling a bit better. Also DS woke at his usual stupid o'clock but neither DP nor I could be bothered to go and get him so he eventually went back to sleep and didn't wake up till 7.45 For the first time in weeks we had a cup of tea in bed together without a toddler doing the Big Daddy bellyflop all over us.

Plus now he's in a super good mood and roaming around the house looking ridiculously cute in his big boy pyjamas. I think we'll go out to the museum today for some free-roaming fun.

spring if you're in Yorkshire maybe we could arrange another midpoint Sheffieldy meet-up? I'd love to meet you and your LO

Red no, have heard nothing from Cruse since binning the counsellor. Clearly our local branch are a useless shower, but I feel okay about it.

hotterpotter · 02/03/2010 09:15

cyteen your ds is too cute for words ... glad you got to drink your tea in peacce this am... my heart goes out to you on your recent posts but as i am never any good at saying the right thing bigs hugs and be nice and gentle with yourself for a bit.. oh and keep cuddling your darling boy ... i think that hugs from the los are medicine that i wish i could bottle up!

my dd2 also had a early wake up and didn't go to sleep til after 8.. dd1 on the other hand went to sleep by herself by 7.30 and didn't wake up til 7.15... so if its not one its the other sigh..

hope dd continues to improve oops and that hector moves around {dd2 was breach til 36 weeks and moved so you have time yet)

waves to everyone else xxx

QueenofDreams · 02/03/2010 13:27

Hi everyone
Lovely lovely sunshine here
Got 1/2 hour exercise this morning, so feeling good. Took ds to bounce and rhyme so that's good too.

no1 I love fantasy books - if you want any recommendations let me know and I'll pimp my favourites at you

Do I dare bring out DS's paints and canvas for the first time or not? Trust SIL to get him something like that. Yes, it sounds lovely but my house will get trashed. THought we could do it in the garden but the landlord still hasn't moved the broken boiler, and I'm not sure I want S playing with that really.

What a fantastic day - Washing drying on the line, baked DH a victoria sponge, DD playing outside in the sandpit and pootling in and out the house. No vomiting since yesterday so I think we are in the clear. Baby seems to be head down today as I can feel a very hard lump at the bottom and feet in my stomach.

Sazz - which bottoms are you going for? Traditional or shorty ones?

QOD - I have contemplated letting DD loose with the paints today but decided to wait until it's warmer and I can strip her off a bit more.

QueenofDreams · 02/03/2010 15:10

Ah you see oops SIL did also provide us with a little plastic apron for him, so I don't have to worry about his clothes at least.
Just got another 30 minutes exercise in so breathing heavily at the laptop

OOoh hotter - your first time reading twilight? enjoy!

lwfhthebagpipeplayer · 02/03/2010 15:34

just a quick story:

DH taught DS to walk through his legs, cue much amusement every time.

They were doing it this morning while I was mostly ignoring them, until DH turned to me and said "I think he has grown"

Also, DD still very beautiful. Some newish photos here if you are feeling nosy.

DH told me a few days ago that I was a good person and added "and besides you have nice boobs and a nice bum" which I have decided to be pleased and flattered by

cyteen how grim thoughts for you and everyone with difficult dads.

miamla my Dad wanted to give me away, and I have no strong feelings so didn't really mind (like Red I am lucky to have such a great dad) but while I was doing my stroppy "No flowers, no bridesmaids, no car, not getting married in white" bit with mum (in the end I went for all of these) Mum's arguement about having a car was that if not then I would have to go to the church alone with my dad, and that did it for me - better to have a car driven by a friend to dilute the stress of having to listen to my dad just before the wedding - even though dad is great I definitely appreciated the company! Just a random story there really

Buckets I am going to Sutton on Sea on the Lincolnshire coast for a week with my parents, sister, partner and the babies in August. I am sure that the cottage was less than £600 - maybe the Lincolnshire coast is a cheaper option for seaside in the UK. Although I would avoid Skegness.

lwfhthebagpipeplayer · 02/03/2010 15:37

sorry miamla, on reflection my story was completely random and not relevant for you at all. I hope that things are OK

and I missed out a comma after grim, apologies again

lwfhthebagpipeplayer · 02/03/2010 15:38

and Springaporesling - skipton is lovely, and thanks for the message.

cyteen · 02/03/2010 15:47

Aw what lovely DC you have lwfh.

I just want to clarify, my dad is a great dad and a good man. Just in case it seems like I'm classing him in the shit dad brigade. He's not that at all - he's just doing the best he can in a series of really crappy circumstances.

cyteen I think the useless pops discussions were entered into after my rant and Miamla's debate re being walked down the aisle - nobody would be thinking that was what you meant

VG - behave yourself!!!!

GladioliBuckets · 02/03/2010 17:18

Longway Yay for romantic husbands (I too take every compliment I can, even if unintended - DH has it so easy!)

Why are my boys obsessed with my boobs today? DS1 leapt astride me (him naked) today and started going 'Billy Bongos, Billy Bongos' on my boobs - no idea where this one came from. And Kurt has decided it's hilarious to bury his face in my cleavage and blow raspberries over and over. I seriously need a bath tonight, esp after his valliant attempt to eat green veg soup by himself.

DHave had a lovely day though, DS1 has been off due to diarrhoea yesterday and they have played soooo nicely together. DS1 spent some time standing on the front wall yelling "Welcome to the land of the Minimoys!" at the binmen, which amused me. Then after school, all 3 kids played in the back garden as the sun was still shining.

And have finally booked an August week in St Merryn nr Padstowe for just £550. Why is it so hard to find a cottage with nice decor? They all look like they have the same furniture that came with the cottage when the elderly relative died and left it to the owner. I want to stay somewhere as nice as my house - I mean how cheap is Ikea, there is no excuse. The one I have found has faux-surfer chic (on an estate).

GladioliBuckets · 02/03/2010 17:20

I get Skipton and Harrogate muddled up. One has the amazing rock gorge-type affair and one has a fab beer shop but I fprget which is which. Both are nice.

TwilightSurfer · 02/03/2010 17:45

like he suit sazzs. longway you know i was nosey. cute pics.

off to nap. bbl

thanks for all your father comments and cyteen, no, i def didn't think you were dissing your dad at all. i, on the other hand, am!
