mos Is
this the site you're talking about? If not, can you link me? Ta

Hello everyone. Went to gp and owen has a chest infection as well as an inflammed throat. His cp have also got infected so on AB.... I hope this settles him down abit now... he is asleep as we speak!!!

MOS I owe you lunch so BW is a must

SilveryMoon · 21/05/2010 20:52

Oh bumps Poor Owen. I really hope you guys manage to get some rest and he gets better real soon.
I hope you have now loggedoff and climbed into bed too whilst he is asleep

dinkystinky · 21/05/2010 21:42

Hi Bumps - god you, J and O really have been (and still are) in the wars. Hope the ABs take effect quickly. FWIW if O or J do have post pox scarring, bio oil is really good and effective at reducing the appearance of scars. DS1 scarred quite badly on his torso when he had the pox at around 17/18 months and bio oil definitely helped reduce the scar appearance. Hope you get some rest tonight.

STW - lol at you and your sombrero and tache! Hope they arrive in time or you'll have to resort to drawing taches on with eye liner

hello all,

STW you are welcome. Need to email you as some of the signs that are in the songsheets I sent you are not on the sheets. As I said, the handouts are just a reminder of the signs that I taught in the class. I will try to email and explain what the signs are.

bumps look forward to BW (and not just for the free lunch) will be lovely to catch up and hopefully the girls will play nicely again.

SM, no, thats not the one. Its nec (national extension college in cambridge) can't link at the moment as something up with laptop and can only have one page open at the moment which is a bit odd. Don't want to fiddle with it too much as have 100 things to do so just plodding on very slowly. Have to close each page to open another!

Well, didn't get job //
Never expected to get the job let alone an interview but once I got there I really liked the team but timing crap. Got a phone call half an hour or so ago which surpised me as only the first working day after all the interviews and hadn't expected to hear til around Wednesday. Was even more suprised that the actual Brigadier/defence attache phoned me himself. He was really nice and said I was pipped at the post and he was sorry, blah blah blah but he was very sincere. He then said that he would actively encourage me to apply for further jobs at the British Embassy and warned me of two others coming out to look out for which are more suited for me. Thought that was really nice and encouraging and DH who had just popped home for 10 mins was here then and heard my side of it and said he was really proud of me as it was obvious they thought highly of me. Oh well, lets see what comes up. Just hope any other jobs advertised soon as I'm out of here in 5 weeks

SilveryMoon · 22/05/2010 14:35

mos Ok, I'll have3 another look.
Sorry you didn't get the job. The successfull applicant must have been a true star.
That was very good of him to give you the heads up on jobs coming up, they must have been impressed with you.

dinkystinky · 22/05/2010 20:00

MoS - sorry you didnt get the job but great that they rated you and told you to look out for other jobs. Like you said, the timing was rubbish and you were only going for the interview experience. So hopefully the next post will be perfect for you. I know you'll be great in it!

Had a lovely day - SIL and BIL staying from US (and brought duty free gin and pear vodka for us yum) so ambled on down to portobello market, had tapas lunch at spanish restaurant there, ambled on home then took DS1 to a friends birthday party and got to drink pimms in the sun in their garden.

hello all,
am a miserable cow today so won't stay long.
Its a year today that I lost my lovely mum. Am feeling really low today so will sodd off and be gloomy elsewhere.
Might apply for another job I saw.
Its 2 days a week at the school DD will be going to in Sept. 5 mins walk from house. Crappy job I could do blindfolded standing on one leg but timing is good as its from Sept and no child care issues.

Hope you are all enjoying the lovely sunny weather.

dinkystinky · 23/05/2010 08:18

MoS - sending you big hugs. Have posted on your other thread. Dont go for the job just for the sake of it if you think it'll drive you crazy - if you want to work for you, I think its worth holding out for a job that gives you a feeling of worth, rather than boredom and frustration. But that's just my opinion and I appreciate the lack of childcare issues over holidays would be a good thing. Fingers crossed some more posts will be coming up at the embassy soon - they clearly liked you and it sounds like that would be more like your cup of tea.

mumoverseas · 23/05/2010 08:25

Thanks dinky. You are right, I'd go insane within a few weeks. Would be nice to be offered something. Think I might look at some of the other embassies, doesn't have to be the British one. Its struck me that if I get a job at an Embassy I'll have all that access to posh functions and real booze!
H just fell asleep on my lap so will get job hunting on line until he wakes up.
need to keep busy today, feel so sad that I can't get to mum and dad's grave.

SilveryMoon · 23/05/2010 08:36

mos I don't know what to say really. I'm sorry today is such a hard and trying day.
When my dad lost his mum, she was cremated and her ashes buried with her husband.
Him and my dad never really liked each other and my dad hates going to his grave, so he had a plaque made for his mum in the shape of a star and it is fixed to the outside wall of his house in the garden. he planted some lovely rose bushes underneath it which were her favourite flower and he now feels he has a special little place he can sit and talk to her, that's just his iyswim.
My nan died about 9 years ago and my dad still struggles. For him, that day is always awful, but in general he is coping better and better and time goes on.
Maybe you could do something out there to create a special little place you 5think your mum would like, maybe a nice bench and a water fountain in the garden or something and you can ask her to look down on you and the children there. xxx

mumoverseas · 23/05/2010 09:22

SM what a lovely idea.
Funnily enough, I'd thought about something like that. We've just had our garden done and got a gardener (grand sum of around 17.50 pcm) and I might ask him to get a nice plant for me. I wondered about getting a bench with a plaque on at home. Will look into that, thanks.

katieblirdsnest · 23/05/2010 16:09

mos just dashing in to send hugs. i hope you've had a chance to think about some of the wonderful times you had with your mum.

dinkystinky · 23/05/2010 20:32

That's a really lovely suggestion SM.

Hope you've all had a nice day in the sun. Went to London zoo this morning with the boys - got there at 10.30 and was already busier than I've ever seen it, god only knows what it was like this afternoon. Main reason we went was it is the only place in north west london that currently has its paddling pool open - DS1 and Danny spent an hour in there and had an absolute blast. Danny is just like DS1 was at his age - a total waterbaby with no fear of running into the water and being splashed in the face by the big kids. Was really delightful to watch. Then in the afternoon had lovely pub lunch in beer garden in local pub then late afternoon trip to the playground with SiL, BiL, my sister and the boys - lovely way to round off a lovely sunny weekend. Cant believe its going to be even hotter tomorrow though...

SilveryMoon · 23/05/2010 20:50

Glad you had a good day dinky
I'm loving the stage Luke is at, he is also alot like ds1 was at this age. very cheeky.
My 2 are getting on better and better and it is so lovely to see and to hear the little giggles.

I am so hot.
I thought it was gonna cool down now, but it's going to be hotter tomorrw? I don't think I'll survive!

TulipsInTheSunshine · 24/05/2010 12:43

dinky... A is the same, dd and ds1 absolutely soaked him in the paddling pool yesterday and he couldn't stop laughing.

dp gave up smoking this morning and is building things in the garden we could be in for an interesting few days. He's been warned about taking his mood out on me though so we'll see.

ds1 is wearing a coat as he claims to be cold daft child

dinkystinky · 24/05/2010 14:02

Honestly Tulips, Danny and A appear to be cut from the same cloth! I should imagine they'd get on like a house on fire if they ever met...

Good luck with non-smoking DP. Dont envy you guys!

Lol at DS1.

katieblirdsnest · 24/05/2010 16:30

tulips i love bonkers kids and things like wearing in a coat in this weather.

Ivor was another water loony this weekend. went to sil's house and they had small paddling pool for the 2 babies (ie. Ivor and his 12 month old cousin) and enormo pool for older 3 kids. Ivor was distinctly unimpressed at the small version and was so determined to climb into the big pool that was practically as deep as his height. and then someone decided to put the baby slide up and over into the pool so that was just brilliant...up, slide, completely dunked under, come up for air with face, arms up to be got out and repeat ad nauseum.

and what a bloody brilliant weekend we've had. sun, bbq, kids worn out from running around outside etc. perfect.

TulipsInTheSunshine · 25/05/2010 10:08

shit... the baby who was in my house on saturday and puked on my floor probably has measles. A hasn't had the MMR yet

dinkystinky · 25/05/2010 10:53

Oh crap Tulips -here's hoping A doesnt get measles. Keep close eye on him for any symptoms.

KBN - lol at Ivor and the baby water slide, bless him. Must have been hysterical to watch.

OP posts:
TulipsInTheSunshine · 25/05/2010 11:30

Waiting to hear from the mother, she's at the docs now to confirm whether it is or not. Poor baby is only 5 months and is being christened on saturday so hopefully it's just a virus. If not i think it's still soon enough after exposure to get A the MMR and hope for the best.

katieblirdsnest · 25/05/2010 13:04

oh shit Tulips. fingers crossed it's just a virus.

SweetTalkinWoman · 25/05/2010 16:09

Really hope it's just a virus Tulips. Poor little one - hope christening is able to happen.

KBN - loved reading about I on the slide into the pool! Sam gets very excited if there's a slide around - add a pool into the mix and he'd be beside himself . Sounds like you had a top weekend! Ours was ok but DD being extremely antisocial so the two parties we went to were not a huge success.... DH and I enjoyed being Mexicans for about 5 minutes then boiled alive under our ponchos. It was very disappointing - even the hosts didn't dress up .

MOS hope you are ok xxx

We had our first "smearing" incident on the hottest night of the year so far... Popped into DD's room for a kiss when I was going to bed - poo everywhere. Up the wall, over the carpet, all over the bed, in her hair . Didn't know where to start. Hope it was a one off. We've still had no poo on the toilet/potty after 4 months of potty training.... Must get that book you recommended Dinky.

Am off to see childminder's new baby tonight - he's only a couple of weeks old - then catching up on the Lost finale..... Rock and roll!

TulipsInTheSunshine · 25/05/2010 16:09

She finally rang at quarter to 3 (after i'd wasted half an hour on the phone to the docs trying to find out what to do)... it's just a bacterial infection so panic averted. Judging by the form he's in today A has caught it from her but at least it's just a bug and not anything more sinister.

Still a bit irritated that she brought her sick baby into my house for several hours in the first place and then didn't ring me to warn me about the possibility of measles but had me find out from the playschool (and then took 4 hours to ring me to tell me it wasn't!)

I'm relieved too as i wasnted to wait til 16 months for the MMR with A anyway considering he's non verbal as it is and small for his age. Must sort out the Hib and mengingitis vacs this week though.

dinkystinky · 25/05/2010 16:16

Oi Swampster (if you're lurking) - can you send STW Poo goes to Pooland (Swampy is the MN supplier of the booklet - tis great). Sorry about the poo-tastrophe STW but it is a potty training rite of passage I think.

Tulips - glad A just has a run of the mill bug rather than measles.
