Where is everyone? SM - hope you had a much better night last night with the boys. MOS - UK airspace is open again so fingers crossed your kids get back to the UK ok and on a timely basis...

Was reading Danny Dear Zoo last night (his absolute favourite book at the moment - he does this cute giggle and clap combo when he sees it) and lifted the first flap only for him to say "Elefa" for elephant. I was . Read it to him a second time and he did exactly the same thing. So Danny's first words are mamamama, dadada, Josh and Elephant in that order DS1's were mama, book, ball, hmm... toast - followed by daddy somewhere down the line...

dinky That is so cute!
Luke tries to say Pingu (I think.....)

We did have a better night. I found it hard to realx and sleep though, but the boys both had a good sleep.
When Jacob did wake up through the night, he wanted some juice, and then he wanted Mr Tumble.
He was getting a bit upset at points through the night, so I was giving it all "it's ok baby, mummy's here sssshhhhhhh" stuff and he was going "whaahhhh I want Mr Tumble" Freak

dinkystinky · 21/04/2010 09:18

Aah, that's lovely SM (re Luke and Pingu - not so much re J and his desire for Mr Tumble - though I guess you could put some lippy on your nose and draw some freckles on with eye liner and pretend to be Mr Tumble ). When DS1 was around Luke's age he was massively into Pingu too and I found a cuddly Pingu toy for him on ebay (was only about £6 if I recollect correctly) which I bought him and he loved - he still loves Pingu now and takes his Pingu to bed with him everynight and when we go away anywhere. Bless.

TITS that sounds tough. Lilian seems to be more violent than DS but it has only been hair pulling and the occasional flying punch. DS is very placid but has lashed out a couple of times and has shocked himself and usually starts to cry and say sorry before I have even told him off - bless him. I have a feeling that Lilian is going to have the upper hand once she is a bit bigger....

SM sorry to hear that you had a late night A&E trip. They always seem to get ill at the most inconvenient moments don't they - and then miraculously recover as soon as you are in front of a doctor.... still better safe than sorry.

Lilian isn't walking yet or saying anything other than quack quack! Her brother was an early walker and talker but I guess they all do things in their own time. I am getting a bit fed up of MIL asking me why she isn't walking yet .

SilveryMoon · 21/04/2010 17:51

Calico I didn't walk until I was 17 months, so we all do get there.

Hello swampster Welcome back How's it going?

Had a nice day today. Jacob has been alot better so we popped into Kingston for a change, then my mum came over in the afternoon. Boys loved p0laying with her and Luke said "Row row row"

Luke today walked up the stairs for the first time. He normally crawls up them, but today walked.

dinkystinky · 21/04/2010 18:54

Hi Swampster - how goes it in the house of pox?

Calico - you're right that little ones do things in their own time. Bet when L does walking and properly talking there will be no stopping her at all!

SM - wow at Luke walking up the stairs.

swampster · 21/04/2010 19:00

Things are great, thanks. DS1 has chickenpox. Expect DS2 and DS3 will follow suit. I'm quite enjoying being stuck at home.

DS3 clonked DS1 on the head with a metal toy car the other day. With ALL his might!!! Talk about hitting a man when he's down!

Calico, I've heard that the average age for walking in this country is 15 months, with anything between 9 and 23 months being well within the 'normal' range.

I still do lurking but not much posting. Been too tired for that. But now the weather's better I feel re-energised.

@ walking up stairs!

SilveryMoon · 21/04/2010 20:03

I know! I was really impressed with him
Funny really, Luke walked and jacob crawled

I managed to get Jacob to get into his own bed. Whoop-whoop, means I can stretch out

swampster · 21/04/2010 21:54

Hello, dinky! Didn't see you there. Finally got them all off to sleep - and myself in the process. DH is not home yet. I've got work to get on with now as I can't go in to the orifice office tomorrow.

dinkystinky · 21/04/2010 22:00

Fair enough swampster - god that sounds like hard work - especially with work to follow after wrangling three kids into bed. Hope DS1 recovers quickly from the pox and if DS2 and DS3 get it its over and done quickly. At least the sun is out so you can sun your spotty boys in the garden when they feel better.

good to see you swampy

Calico1 · 22/04/2010 11:51

Hi Swampy - I really hope Lilian is walking before 23 months!! Hope the pox leaves your house soon x

Lilian is currently fast asleep snoring away but I have to wake her up in a minute to get DS from pre-school - oh I hate to wake a sleeping baby....

dinkystinky · 22/04/2010 11:59

Aah Calico - I love it when little ones snore. Its so cute! Hope she's not too grumpy at being woken to go get her big brother.

Hi all.
Had ds1 back at docs today. We saw a male doctor who said Jacob's foreskin is really tight and if he continues to say it hurts, it'll have to come off.
Re the tonsilitis, I said I wanrted him reffered because it is reacurring and is what is causing such high temps so regular. The gp said they won't do anything because he is so young and tonsils are there for a reason and so on.
He then went on to say that in order to meet the criteria for an op to have them removed, he'd have to be given AB's 4 times in 2 years.
he asked how often J gets it so I told him he'd have to look at his notes, which he did and jacob has been given AB's for tonsilitis 4 times in the past 6 months!

We went to football club today, and one of the games they do is, matching colours. The coach put cones with coloured markerds on them at one end of the room, then gives the children a coloured marker each and the kids have to go and put it on the matching cone.
Luke only got his one right! he had a yellow marker, he ran up the room with all the other children and went to the yellow cone. How good is that! A complete fluke but still

SilveryMoon · 22/04/2010 17:51

Also,
swampy how are the boys? Any sign of the younger ones getting it?

mos How's it going with dp?

TheHouseofMirth · 22/04/2010 21:36

Evening! Isn't the sunshine fab?

MOS sorry to hear about things with your DH.

SM DS1 also has/had a tight foreskin and went through times when it hurt. I noticed when he was about 18 months that his foreskin blew up like a balloon when he had a wee. DH was adamant there was no way DS1 was being circumcised unless it was totally necessary and I remember reading this and thinking that it sounded a bit more humane. He's almost 5 now and never complains of it hurting so I guess he's grown out of it.

Poor Mr T's not well again but then we have gone about 3 weeks without a cold so I guess it's time...The climbing is getting quite scary now, up into DS1's mid-sleeper bed, up the back of the sofa and on to the window sill. He is also running and yesterday he jumped. I seem to remember DS1 was over 2 before he could jump. His talking's really coming along now and he can clearly say Mummy, Daddy, DS1's name, ball, balloon, door, miaow, woof, yeah, no, get down, go outside, upstairs, ear, toe and apple (though he wouldn't dream of eating one!) This is such a fun age isn't it? Feel a bit sad that I won't be going throiugh this again.

SilveryMoon · 22/04/2010 21:54

thom Thanks for that link. I'd obviously rathyer not put him through unnecessary surgery.
I'm going to see how it goes over the next few weeks and speak to the doctor again, see what they think is best for him.

dinkystinky · 23/04/2010 10:06

SM - sorry they wont refer J to have his tonsils out just yet. My sister is the daughter of a GP and got tonsillitis tonnes from really little and only got her tonsils out when she was 8 - I think they are cautious about removing them while kids are really little as they dont want to have to put kids under general anaesthetic unless they absolutely have to. And DS1 periodically suffers from tight foreskin/infections - started when we potty trained him. We find (after being told by the doctor to do so) making sure his willy is cleaned (by pulling foreskin back gently a few times) in the bath daily helps reduce the infection - Doctors orders that DS1 plays with himself DH had the same thing and was circumcised at 11. Hurrah Luke on being so clever!

THOM - am in awe at Mr T's skills. You're right its a fun age - but the toddler tantrums are very wearing...

Went out last night for first time in ages - to a circus thing at roundhouse which was excellent and then out for dinner at local little brazilian place my friend randomly found. Now have a Capirinha based hangover...

OP posts:
TulipsInTheSunshine · 23/04/2010 10:17

THOM... i caught A hanging off ds1's bunk bed ladder yesterday contemplating climbing it Nothing compared to Mr T's climbing skills though! We had to give in a few weeks back and put a gate at the bottom of the stairs as A's favourite hobby was climbing up them 200 times a day and dp was freaking out... pain in the arse though as ds1 cab't open it himself and keeps getting stuck on the wrong side of it.

SM... I had recurrant tonsillitis for years and they refused to have them removed, After a few years it died down though and I stopped getting it so the body can recover from dodgy tonsils without having them removed, hopefully J will do the same.

dinky... hangover from drink is still better than sleep deprived grogginess though i bet

dinkystinky · 23/04/2010 10:44

True Tulips - however Danny woke me up at 5 this morning so have grogginess and hangover to contend with. Ho hum.

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 23/04/2010 11:50

dinky They have reffered him for his tonsils. I demanded it and will do whatever the specialist thinks is best.
He doesn't have an infection on his willy or anything, but I have been told to pull the foreskin back too.
Glad you had a good night out
TITS I heard that it works in a 7 year cycle. I just want to do what is best for him. I'm worried because of the snoring and how that effects his breathing (he holds breath in for a long time when he is sleeping) and I'm also concerned about how often he has AB's and how they will affect his immune system etc etc.

Dp's back today. Can't wait to see him

TulipsInTheSunshine · 23/04/2010 12:00

sounds baout right... for me those 7 years happened to be my teens.... doesn't help much with feeling attractive as a hormonal teen when you constantly have a grungy throat

SweetTalkinWoman · 23/04/2010 13:34

Poor Jacob - he must be feeling very uncomfortable SM. Bet you can't wait to get DP back today !

Dinky - I don't envy you the double whammy of tired and hungover! Got an early waker here too, although 6am this morning wasn't too awful I suppose. Just waiting for this phase to pass, through gitted teeth!!

I've been a rubbish poster recently - just had lots going on really. All going reasonably well here. DD still a bit of a lost soul, and have been advised by paediatrician and HV to enrol on the Early Bird Autism course, which I was a bit surprised about. Oh well, at least we are getting plenty of help, although not sure how I'm going to fit all these therapy sessions in....

Tonight I'm spending my first night away from the DC's and I'm really looking forward to it . I have a school reunion (20 years since leaving ) and am staying at my friend's house overnight. Thing is, she has 3 young 'uns, so it might be a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire! I had hoped to get some beauty sleep last night, but it wasn't to be, so I'll be cranking up the cement mixer later to fill in the cracks!

Very at all the climbing antics of everyone's LO's! Sam is a bit of a monkey and needs to be kept an eye on but not very brave really. He says "quack quack" all day so we need to spend less time feeding the duck along the river...

MOS how are things with DH now? Hope not too awful.

Sorry for not catching up properly with everyone - I must do better, as they would have said at school!

Off now to get some lunch, so catch you all later!

SweetTalkinWoman · 23/04/2010 13:35

gritted teeth...
