Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kayzr · 21/02/2010 07:34

Morning,

Back to work today and I hate going back after a week off. Especially on a Sunday as they are usually really quiet.

Katie I'm not sure who it is. So I've deleted her from the group for now and if she tries to join again then I'll ask for her MN name.

Trace Sorry about your poo problem but we don't mind. We've shared all sorts on here while pg and now. I hope you have a lovely day today.

Right I'd better have some brekkie.

Rubena · 21/02/2010 08:56

Katie - yeah I see what you mean - well as you say if it's meant to be it's meant to be - but pleeeeeeease test! I checked the FB group - there is nobody with CS initials? I think with the first name you are thinking of is CK initials?
eek I've gone blank too but is that njan? (Just by process of elimination - sorry if I'm wrong)This is one reason Turnip prefers FB - I totally get that! Oh I've just read back and yes it might be Modernlove - I'm hopeless sorry

Lady well sone on the weight-no-gain. Keep it up you're doing good I think there was a couple of weeks I didn't gain but then at 12 weeks ish it went up a little each week - do our bodies clock something at the 2nd trimester mark? keep it up aand you will do great all the way through. I think you have more will power than me!

Trace I know what you mean about your dh's mood - dh gets like that - a lot recently. We have a decent income but some hefty outgoings not to mention a massive loss on our flat last year swith all our problems with the old tenant, and therefore I'm hanging for our maternity mortgage break to get us back on track - and/or the property market to pick up a little. I know our issues are only short term, but it's hard when the hard work has to be put in in the years you also need to enjoy life. I feel very guilty at times that I can't contribute anywhere near as much money wise however I keep reminding myself that I do most of the kids side of things (that sounded weird saying kid(s) plural

LadyThompson · 21/02/2010 10:29

Just a quickie to say that I heard from Urbane and she is at her brother's in a very snowy Buxton, and there's no internet connection. She had posted a long Brits catch up before she went but it got lost. However, she hopes to come tomorrow night.

Right, I have got LOADS to do today so I had better go. If anyone buys the Mail on S. (I doubt anybody does) my piece is on pp6-7 of the travel supplement

spotofcheerfulness · 21/02/2010 11:06

Just found it online Ladyt, no time to read now but will later . And that's a lovely photo of you and DH.

LadyThompson · 21/02/2010 11:12

Thanks he was actually very sick there but you can't really tell. It's the Tobago one, others might come up on a search as I have done a few on various places.

katie3677 · 21/02/2010 15:17

LadyT great article

LadyThompson · 21/02/2010 15:49

Thank you very much. What I didn't say is that I found out I was pregnant two days before we went and so my cricket tour was COMPLETELY DRY as I was too scared to have any alcohol then and a little bit sickly.

Turniphead1 · 21/02/2010 16:36

katie hi there! I laughed at the "sign" from your ironing. I have to say trampolining would be struggle for me!

trace I was just wondering how you were. I hope P's dedication day is good and that your DH cheers up. That is a bit much you having to get up to P each night. Could you suggest taking turns do you think? My tummy can be a bit ropey too. I think it would be worth a chat at the GPs?

daisy I remember the commune chat!! - I think it was in the darks days when the babes were 6 months ish. I think we settled on some lovely mediterranean island as a venue....

kayz hope work was OK. Well done on the smaller jeans! (sorry a FB comment).

better go and feed the babes - and find Lisa's article online.

Beans33 · 21/02/2010 16:41

Ooh, will have to have a beak - can anyone post the link to daily mail online?

Hi All. Have had an up and down weekend. Sure I've got raging hormones as found myself sobbing earlier today for no apparent reason! Anyway, DH has taken DD swimming now, so am having a bit of time to myself. Sorry others feel the rage with husbands as well. Part of me is sure that if we had more sex, there'd be less of an issue. BUT the other part of me can't bear the thought of it until he's nicer to me. Vicious circle!

Anyhoo - onto pelvic floor muscles - mine have got worse now I'm 22 weeks into the pregnancy. When I sneeze I have to be v careful not to let pee out and it's difficult!!! It's got worse definitely in the last couple of weeks! But wowsers, I can now see my tummy moving externally when the new one kicks! Hurray! Was thinking today how much I like the name Douglas - and actually DH didn't object like he usually does to my name choices! Just think it's v sweet.

Hope everyone has had good weekends. We went to theatre last night and saw Jerusalem. Has anyone seen it? I can't stop thinking about it - absolutely marvellously thought-provoking play. Such a treat to go out for that kind of evening too. Used sitters.co.uk and they were brilliant and much cheaper than anyone else we could find!

xx

Beans33 · 21/02/2010 16:54

Oh I'd be up for a commune - on Kephalonia or Crete or somewhere. Heaven. Colours are just so bright and the weather so gorgeous. DONE with English weather!

Beans33 · 21/02/2010 16:57

I think I've spelt kephalonia wrong. Too lazy to find out real spelling!

LadyThompson · 21/02/2010 17:02

it's here Turnip, you outed me! Ha ha

Ooh, I fancy Jerusalem actually Beans. Glad it was good.

katie3677 · 21/02/2010 17:06

Beans DS is Douglas It was never on our list but really was the only name that suited him when he was born (11lb 5oz!)

Kayzr · 21/02/2010 17:14

Just popping on quickly to say that LadyT I love the article and you look lovely in that picture.

Turnip Work was boring as usual. But I did get asked out for dinner by a lovely looking Russian. But turned him down for obvious reasons.

Veggiemummy · 21/02/2010 18:39

Oh Kayz get you, you cheeky lady getting asked out. Did you tell DH?

I've already read the article but popped over to see a picture of our beautiful Lady.

Turnip how is your pelvic floor, I thought your Doc said you would be, in the immortal words of Madonna "like a virgin"?

I'm just putting DS2 to bed, then I'm off to the airport to pick up my friend and her kids. Poor thing they were due to fly out at 4pm but snow had delayed flight and they now leave at 7pm UK time. I'm quits sadly, looking forward to the drive by myself to the airport, as I'm going to take a fav CD and crank it up and sing out of tune.

Poor DH has that tummy thing I had, but much much worse of course, so I think he might be home with a house full of kids tomorrow. Might be out I think, esp as it's a balmy 3degrees.

I think we should consider Sardinia for our commune, excellent food lots of secluded beaches we could set up on and gorgeous men!

Veggiemummy · 21/02/2010 18:40

Quite not quits!

traceface · 21/02/2010 20:04

hi all.
P's dedication was lovely She grinned and waved from the front, but cried when the minister tried to hold her It was a really nice service and good to see our families. They all came back to ours for a buffet lunch which went down really well and we've not been left with too many vol-au-vents DH and I have had a better day with each other today. I was quite harsh with him last night (taking my inspiration from Daisy!) and today I can see he's made an effort to be more positive and cheerful.
ladyt what a fab article and a beautiful picture of you.
veggie hope you have a wonderful time with your friends. How nice that they've been able to come out to see you. Hope dh's tummy recovers soon. And can I just say I think you're amazing - too many reasons to list but just wanted to remind you
beans good on you for getting a night at the theatre. I am rather fond of the name Douglas because that was my grandad's name.
katie when are you going to test? come on, come on!
kayz how was work?
we've not heard from Jolly or zj for a while...are you ok Northern girlies?
I ought to go now - back to school and work tomorrow so packed lunches need making...or maybe we shall all have vol-au-vents
Night Night xx

Kayzr · 21/02/2010 20:52

Veggie I have told him and his response was "See told you, you are gorgeous". Though I must say if I was a single lady I think I would have said yes.

Trace Glad you had a good day. Work was really its boring self.

JumpJockey · 21/02/2010 21:19

Gosh you ladies have filled 210 posts in 6 days, at this rate we?ll be getting through threads faster than at 8 months PG!

Aubi Grrr to the journalist, how horribly intrusive. Hope they?ve been keeping away now. The photo shoot sounds as if it went better than expected, hurrah.

Beans it?s very interesting reading about your feelings re work, that you?re looking forwards to getting away so much. Do you think you'll go back after your next lot of ML, or is it full time mothering for the next few years? When I?m at work I really enjoy it and want to be back more, when I?m at home with DD I just can?t bring myself to care less about it... sorry you?ve been having a rough time with DH, there has been some good advice on here but he does sound rather controlling.

I watched the baby programme and while the opening sequence still makes me well up the two ladies were presented pretty dreadfully ? the poor 20 year old girl, if someone had given her a bit useful support and advice (eg that lying flat on her back wasn?t exactly helping her deal with the pain and being more active could have helped her have a bit more feeling of control) she could have had a very different experience. I want to see the poor little baby with the broken tummy again and see how he?s getting on.

Showbiz goodie bags ? the best I?ve had from a library conference was a mug, and a metal coaster. My world is so glam

Spot, hope you?ve managed to have a bit of decent time with DH. Is there any way his job can be tweaked to involve less travel abroad? Would they ever let you and T go as well?? Am loving the counting in GFrench to keep him still for the nappy change!

Am v impressed that everyone has massive boobs ? mine have totally shrunk away, even though the lady in Rigby and Peller told me I needed a 30F (!!!) I ended up in a 32D ie the same size I was before , excepting that they?re now all flat at the top and basically fold into the cup. Yuk.

PD, verso and turnip lovely to see you all again!

Rubena hope the good nights sleep are becoming a pattern for you! We?ve been on one nap a day for about a month and a half, she goes down between about 12 and 12.30 and usually does a couple of hours which is great for me, and she?s usually quite perky when she gets up again.

Jeans ? well I?m such an old lady that my current favourite pair are from M&S and they?re a bit of a miracle, I?ve got massive calves and usually can?t wear even straight leg jeans without losing the ability to walk up and down stairs, these ones are slim cut and somehow instead of making me all thunder-thighed, knock-kneed and freakishly calved, actually look rather stylish. I got two pairs as well as they cost £19.50

Invis glad you had a good lunch with the DCs at the BM, what a lovely suprise for them

Daisy your holiday sounds like a great idea, you all deserve a bit of a break from real life.

Effie yay for your mum, that?s such a brilliant achievement. You must be so proud

Ironing. Yuck. DH irons his shirts, since he wears them, and I might iron a top once in a blue moon if we?re going out, but that?s it in this house. As a kid I used to iron all my dad?s work shirts on a Sunday evening in return for my allowance ? but he wore short sleeves which were much easier. Ironing sheets is such a futile effort ? though I do love that feeling when you?re staying in a hotel and the sheets are all crisp and fresh. But it?s terribly envirohostile.

and hello to everyone else, hope you've all had lovely weekends and are currently having a nice relaxing evening on the sofa

Oh just before I sign off, news! SIL is expecting a baby! Which is to say, DH?s sister. MIL has been rather equivocal to say the least ? this is the MIL who objected hugely to their getting wed in the first place, and said that if they had any children a) they?d need to have growth hormones as he?s so short (is about 5?11...) and b) they?d be half caste because he?s Italian!! Baby is due in August so the same time as some of our December little brothers and sisters

pixsix · 22/02/2010 07:03

Hi Ladies

I hope you are all well, congratulations to those who are expecting again. I'm just posting because I came across your discussion from early January about people who don't post here anymore but do still post on MN.

I saw that Rubena got upset and since I was mentioned by name, I just wanted to explain why I don't post anymore. I can absolutely see why it comes across as rude and don't want anyone to be upset.

I received wonderful support from the antenatal thread and always intended to stay on the postnatal thread but I was just overwhelmed by the relentlessness of the newborn stage. I don't mean that it was harder for me than anyone else, just that I was hopeless at everything, not just posting here. I was embarassed to keep posting things about myself without responding to other people so, because I couldn't keep up, I ended up not posting at all. I wish I hadn't been so rubbish!

I do sometimes start threads for specific bits of advice on MN but haven't defected to other chat threads. There is a new poster called something like 'pixiestix' who has popped up and posts a lot more than me so maybe it seems like I post more than I do.

Anyway I have such good memories of the antenatal thread and really didn't want to made anyone sad. I hope you don't mind me posting this.

I hope you all have great weeks.

EffiePerine · 22/02/2010 07:10

Hi jj! Your mil must be barking, my dh is all of 5 11 1/2 and the boys show no sign of stunted growth. Congratulations to your sil .

Cat: do get to the doc re the pelvic floor issue. If it's easily fixible it's well worth the hassle. Same to Trace! The dedication sounds lovely trace. As does the firm chat with dh.

We had a great weekend, friends for dinner on sat. But ds2 has decided to go a bit mad and not sleep. Poss
more teeth. Boo.

Have a lovely week all.

EffiePerine · 22/02/2010 07:18

Xposted - pixsix please don't feel bad! I find it hard enough catching up with the thread after a few days! You are of course free to use mn in the way that suits you best . It's still lovely to hear from you on occasion when you are about but don't feel guilty about it!

urbanewarrior · 22/02/2010 07:32

Hello all. Am so sorry to have worried you. I posted an epic about the brits...had terrible journey back yesterday with me crammed in the back with poorly DD. She's had a bad night - shivers and temperatures and sick again. Poor little thing . I know I shouldn't complain because it's not like they're really ill but if feels like either her or DS have been sick every week since November. So heroic DH is staying at home this morning, and I'm coming back from work this afternoon. Which means I won't make the meet up either, which I was really looking forward too . Oh poor me. Pathetic .

Will try and catch up later.

Rubena · 22/02/2010 07:58

Oh no abandoned-thread-gate Pixsis - wasn't your just one of the mentioned one's when people were trying to guess who LadyT was on about? It wasn't you I was upset with - besides I'm not exactly upset, I'm just pregnant!

I fell down the stairs last night. Actually wasn't too bad - only from the 4th or 5th step but my back is quite grazed and hurts.

Beans33 · 22/02/2010 09:20

MORNING ALL!
Hope you had a good evening. I watched The Wrestler. Lovely to have such a long post from you, JJ - I am definitely not going back to work after next baby - not until they go to school - and if we have a 3rd, then not til after that one has gone back too. Quite scary for DH, but then I don't earn enough to cover cost of nursery with 2! Then think I'm going to train as a teaching assistant and go back to do that to earn some money and get back to work. And it works well with holidays etc.

Urbane - glad all well - still keen to hear about Brits! And hope DD gets better soon.

I'm not going to be able to make it tonight - DH can't babysit tonight as has to work late and having had one on Saturday, don't feel like we can afford another one. Boooo hissss.
