This was the only thing I could remember some saying should be the next title!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SummerLightning · 12/03/2010 11:18

I didn't even know that was there!!! Funny as Sawston has a reputation as a bit of a dump (my parents friend lives there and even he says it is a dump)

Veggiemummy · 12/03/2010 11:24

I love you Lady, I've just discovered that our London place is worth a lot more than we thought and our Derby place has lost less than we though . Hooray! Does that mean Zoopla underestimated a bit if SL's was less? Oh I love this site it's like a game!

SummerLightning · 12/03/2010 11:30

katie if your folks are in love with it then I would tell them to look at the other house in the same road, and then offer the extra 5K personally. AFter all what's 5K out of all that - They will never regret that extra 5K, but they may regret not getting the house. Assuming they can afford it that is.

Veggiemummy · 12/03/2010 11:33

Oh dear wrote that about 40 mins ago
but just posted it.

JJ DS2 doesn't have any scars just a 2 inch DENT in his forehead from an 'incident' before Christmas! Oh just checked it it's actually reduced to 1.5 inches. Thank goodness he has a lot of hair.

DH is on the phone to his mum. His brother is unofficially engaged and they are planning to marry in Taiwan. We have been waiting to hear when they plan to tie the knot before planning any big holidays this year. I know it's a bit selfish but we a wedding in June & the tour in July and going home at the end of the year so tricky to fit in things plus the cost of flights if it ends up being after DS2's 2nd birthday. so would really like to know when it's all gonna happen. Well that and I would really like some sun!

SummerLightning · 12/03/2010 11:35

veggie I think our area in particular is a bit mad at the moment. The agents specifically said that these sites are showing lower and people are suspicious of the prices that they are putting them on at when they first start looking but they are selling at these higher prices, if you see what I mean. I am pretty sure they are not bullshitting me as they have told me the prices that local houses have sold for, and I don't really see why they should lie. so jj your house may actually be worth what it says. Oh and also although my house is less on there, we have moved the bathroom upstairs, put in double glazing, massive lovely new kitchen, we actually have spent as much as the difference in zoomla's price and the valuation, so it kind of makes sense.

Beans33 · 12/03/2010 13:14

Gosh, I ours is really overvalued at what we have it on for. Bugger. Fingers crossed we still manage to sell it! Oops.

I am ashamed to say that I've just eaten a whole bar of Green & Blacks milk chocolate. How did I do that? Oink oink. But am still hungry. This is disastrous.

I love looking at unattainable houses on websites, but get a bit depressed that we'll never be able to afford any of them! Wish we were totally minted. Would be marvellous! Money doesn't make you happy, true. But wow it goes a long way to easing the pain, doesn't it??!

JollyBear · 12/03/2010 13:17

Hello everyone,

I may be going back a bit...

mom Urgh, poor you with more teething. The only bright side is that they get it all over with. I'm hanging onto that thought!

zoe Happy anniversary. Shame you had to spend it apart. I chuckled at you watching lambing live. Do you not live on a farm? I presume you don't keep sheep, just sprouts!

trace I could go on for a while about the number of accidents my carelessness has caused DD to have . Do not beat yourself up about it. Do you think you should see the covering CPN? Perhaps not having the opportunity to talk is making you more anxious.

kayz I hope you are OK.

beans Take it easy on the circus training!

ladyT If you want to look more pregnant for the wedding then wear something very maternity - a dress that is gathered under the bust or something fitted. I'm really pleased your course went so well.

I'm scared to look our house up on that site, it is probably worth tuppence these days!

WG DD can now do the babysign for food now too. I remember you said madam was using it all the time. DD asks for food so I go and find her a snack but she rejects it and wants something else. I prefer milk, much more specific! She does the sign for 'all gone' when she has finished her meal though which is very cute.

DD has been delightful the last few days . At the moment she changes so much and seems to learn new things all the time. She can now say eye and clap. Not particularly useful but there you go! No walking unless I hold her hand though and still no mummy. She calls me daddy and herself daddy. Daddy is also daddy .

Beans33 · 12/03/2010 14:01

Ooh yes, forgot to tell you about circus training. I didn't do the trapeze or the stilt walking, but did juggling and some highwire walking. Which was all of 2 feet off the ground. Was really good fun. although my sense of balance is totally squiffy with bump at the front. I was crap! And I was rubbish at juggling too, but really enjoyed it. Tried to show DH my newfound skills, which were clearly lacking and he showed me how he can juggle - and he's amazing at it! I've known him for nearly 6 years and I had no idea he could juggle! Extraordinary!

JB - very impressed with the signing. Whizz similarly only walking when I'm holding her hand! I love it, though. And I'm daddy too. Although she now says "bye bye" and waves, all the time!

MomOrMum · 12/03/2010 14:28

Kayz - Sorry things have taken a bad turn. Hope you are okay.

Lady - I realised that the Naomi Campbell charity is probably the one to do with mothers (mothers?who needs ?em ) where mine is the one to do with children. But we still do get some glam celebs now and again! Go babyLadyT on the mobility. A week?s worth of work from the agent sounds like good news?

Good to see you Indith.

Exciting re: photoshoot Turnip. Zoe - I was so confused about the lambing thing, until I looked in the TV guide and realized it is literally a programme about lambing. Didn?t quite entice me to tune in! Though we did see some lambs being born at the Cotswold baby animal zoo thing-a-me and it was very cool.

Trace - My near miss/accident story is TERRIBLE. I drove for 1.5 hours and didn?t realise that the carseat wasn?t strapped into the car. DS was strapped into the carseat, but I thought my Dad had done the seatbelt part up but he hadn?t. Makes me feel sick to think about it.

Can?t remember who was asking about our crazy cross-Atlantic moves, but yes?we lived in London for nearly 4 years, then moved back to Canada and only stayed 15 months before we moved back to London! Entire contents of house shipped across the ocean twice. Oops.

Oats in the bath and Aveeno cream are amazing for excema. And oats in the bath for nappy rash too.

Here?s the link to my article if any fancies a read. Fun to see my name in print! Got my mum to pick up copies of the real thing over in Canada: Article

Veggiemummy · 12/03/2010 14:33

Beans as soon as I found out I was pregnant DH started learning how to juggle and do a back flip he thought these would make him a cool Dad. He went to Circus skill school in London. He managed an assisted back flip and can juggle about 3 rotations before he loses a ball. Then we moved to Derby so no more circus school.

JB don't be scared it was very reassuring for us. We were sure we had lost loads on our Derby home. We bought it from friends without an estate agent and we are sure we paid a bit more than it was worth at the time then the economic crash happened just after we bought it. However we were pleasantly surprised to find it is worth only £10,000 less than we bought it for and it's top range is above what we paid so it's ok for now. We have no intention of selling it for at least 10 years maybe more so it's a moot point but nice to know. I looked up a friends house and found that she is sitting on a goldmine hooray! But sadly another couple who have spent a fortune renovating their place have only gained £3000 on it!

I'm am so excited about dinner tonight. Restaurants are not great here esp Chinese, Indonesian & Thai places. The food is bland and badly overcooked. But we have found an indonesian place which is amazing. We now have a tradition of DH going to the gym on Fridays and then picking up the takeaway on the way home. I've been thinking about it since Wednesday. They do this tempah dish which is A-MAZING!

Beans33 · 12/03/2010 14:43

mom - I love the article! It made me laugh out loud. Particularly the last sentence. But am slightly mortified that I didn't know what the translation was of the sentence in the opening either! EEK! I'm still useless - and what is a onesie??!!!

xx

MomOrMum · 12/03/2010 14:45

Onesies are babygros in Canada. Both very odd words, IMO!

EffiePerine · 12/03/2010 15:06

Mom: loved your article, funny and beautifully written!

JamInMyWellies · 12/03/2010 15:22

Great article mom.

We are still the house of ill. DS1 spent most of yesterday vomiting. He has been up half the night. On the plus side DS2 is loads better and back to causing havoc wherever he goes.

LadyT great websites.

Veggiemummy · 12/03/2010 17:07

Mom I loved Reading that article. You write really well, do you think you'll try some more?

Mom we had something similar in that we had had a friend sit in the middle seat of our car at the back & she had accidentally undone DS1's securing seatbelt for his seat when she was undoing her own. It was several days before I realised. However, I did on several occassions, forget to do up his seatbelt when he moved up to the 15kg + booster seat. Luckily he was quite on the ball and would usually let me know if he was 'uncoupled' (Thomas speak), but I often got into the oneway system before he realised.

SummerLightning · 12/03/2010 17:08

Mom your article made me laugh a lot!!

Jam sorry about the ongoing illness.

All you house buying gurus. Looked at a house earlier, as it is I don't think we are interested in it, however, the estate agent told me that they had an offer on it of full asking price, so I asked "is it effectively off the market then" and he said no as the buyer hadn't yet sold their property. How am I meant to know if this is true??? How do I know he's not just making it up completely?

JollyBear · 12/03/2010 20:00

Really good article mom, well done!

Veggiemummy · 12/03/2010 22:01

Just was thinking about babygro and onesies being strange words for the piece of clothing but grobags are strange too. I know it's a brand name but how strange, it sounds more like something you buy from a garden center.

spotofcheerfulness · 12/03/2010 22:13

Good article, mom, made me .
Am full of a cold tonight so won't do too many personals, sorry, just wanted to say I've been lurking today and signed up to those house price sites with interest.

Also have started T on goat's milk as have heard it's good for babies who produce a lot of mucus but aren't actually allergic to cow's milk. Am terrified of going totally dairy free so will try this first and see how we go.

Sorry to hear about DS1's continuing illness, Jam, hope it gets better over the weekend and you have more support to deal with your own sleep backlog!

Ok, am off to bed, wishing you all good/better nights.

EffiePerine · 13/03/2010 07:38

Ouch! Starting the weekend with a splendid black eye thanks to DS1 headbutting me this morning. Something tells me we won't be going out in public for mother's day!

Hope the goat's milk does the job Cat

DS2 is grooving to Johnny Cash while covering himself in rice crispies.

spotofcheerfulness · 13/03/2010 08:51

Effie, is it the Johnny Cash album for kids? T listens to that every day for breakfast. Sorry about the black eye. How did the headbutt come about?

T up for hours in the night screaming his head off so he's still asleep again now. Threw all the painkillers in the house at him which eventually made him calm down, but I would love to see a little gnasher for all that trouble.

daisydora · 13/03/2010 09:11

Mom that is a fantastic article, so funny!

effie ouch to the blak eye!

Ladyt glad the course went well. And hurray for a mobile O

jam sorry to hear that you are still the house of ill, I do hope that DS1 is better today.

Re: house prices, I think ours is pretty accurate on that site. I would love to move buut sadly funds do not allow it at the moment, oh well we may win the lotto tonight!

I am a little hungover this morning after too many drinks last night with my friends. I haven't been out for so long I had lot to catch up on, and therefore drank a lot. Chatting is thirsty work.

What have people got planned for Mothers Day? I am expecting nothing. DH has said that he won't get me a card as DD hs 'made' me one at school. Which is okay but its not from DS. Also he asked me to get some flowers today for me to put on his mums grave tomorrow as he is working. Which I don't mind, but he was going on about me going and yet he won't be going himself. And then he said that I should get myself some flowers while I'm there as he isn't going to get chance to go to the shops I just feel totally taken for f*cking granted. Am I right to be a bit peed off or am I just being a bit precious about the whole thing? I know it is just a day after all. But he didn't make any effort for my birthday, and now he has already said he won't do anything for Mothers Day (and I know he is serious). I don't even think its do do with his mum. Had she been alive he would have been just the bloody same.

daisydora · 13/03/2010 09:13

Forgot to add spot sorry you had a bad night with T. Hope a tooth pops through soon.

EffiePerine · 13/03/2010 09:33

Daisy: I would make it clear that you expect some attention as the mother of his children! There's a hendy MN dos and don'ts for mother's day somewhere on here. No. 1 misdemenour saying 'you're not MY mum'

DS1 didn't clock me on purpose, he was having a tantrum and flung himself backwards. My face got in the way (and he has a hard head).

J: hope the illness is getting better.

EffiePerine · 13/03/2010 09:38

Spot: sorry you had a bad night. So annoying when they're monstrous at night and peaceful and sleepy the next day! Can you get some rest as well?
