Just dashing in from a world of sleep deprivation, stress and cold fear of going back to work a week on Monday to say hello lovely ladies

Sorry I've been AWOL. Sounds like lots of us are having a shitty time at the moment. Big hugs to Auld, Schulte, WFH, Boff and anyone else who needs them. Promise to post more once I'm back at work and the world hasn't stopped spinning after all...

O's birthday was fun - pics on FB of him stuffing his face with cake - this is why I don't give him sweet stuff often, the boy is my son through and through - no sense of appropriate portion size and no self-control

mrsgboring · 30/04/2010 10:52

Schulte and Boff and Surprise, unMNetty hugs for the various trials, tribulations and twunts.

I am slowly losing it too - see here

ZuluWarrior · 30/04/2010 19:14

Puzz, I'm not a GP, and I agree with you. None taken!

Guimauve · 01/05/2010 07:19

Happy Birthday to Baby Satheresitting, and Happy Birthday to Angus for Monday

Schulte · 01/05/2010 10:09

What would you do???

Schulte · 01/05/2010 10:12

Bicnod, are you free on Wednesday afternoon?

So we're selling at a nearly new sale today, as is a friend of mine who lives just round the corner. I sent DH to drop off our stuff this morning and asked him to pick up hers on the way. 15 minutes later she calls me to say he hasn't been - he managed to forget that he was supposed to stop at her house in the 2 minutes it takes to get from ours to hers! WTF!!!!!!!! Luckily she wasn't too bothered and just laughed but oh will I give him an earful when he comes home!

Bicnod · 01/05/2010 14:34

Schulte not free Wed afternoon this coming week but free the following Wed (12th) - any good?

p.s. think you're doing the right thing going back to your GP about H's egg allergy - I would definitly be cautious in your position.

Schulte · 01/05/2010 20:16

Bicnod, 12th is perfect, we've got DD1's ballet class from 11.15-12.00 but are free afterwards xxx

PuzzleRocks · 03/05/2010 19:14

Happy Birthday Angus

And to Wild Rumpus

And my niece

Bicnod · 03/05/2010 19:20

Schulte - excellent. Do you fancy coming over for lunch? If weather is good we could have a picnic lunch in the garden Or if its a bit of a faff with 2 then I'm happy to come your way. Can't wait to catch up...

Hope everyone is well - I had half a pint of beer and 2 glasses of champagne at lunchtime today (another baby's 1st birthday celebration) and I feel absolutely wiped out now. Tragic really.

Guimauve · 04/05/2010 06:53

Happy Birthday Harris

Schulte · 04/05/2010 08:11

Grrrrrr one of these days I am going to kill DH.

Schulte · 04/05/2010 08:12

Happy birthday to all those whose birthdays I've missed! xxx

ZuluWarrior · 04/05/2010 12:23

Oh dear Schulte. What did he do?

AuldAlliance · 04/05/2010 12:39

hellloooooooooo?
Where is everyone? This thread has been going for nearly 3 months, must be a record. I flicked through some of the old threads in a nostalgic moment when it was A's birthday, and at our peak we could fill a thread in about a day!

Hope everyone is OK, and you are not posting because you are all too busy, rather than for more sinister reasons.

Boff, how are you coping?

Schulte, what has your DH done now?
I can relate to just surviving, feeding the LO's, clothing them and keeping them just about clean. DH said yesterday that a wild night for us is one where we watch a DVD, and that is just about right: that's all I can muster the energy for after another day's routine.

Am off to post a photo of A's pox-ridden face on my profile for a limited time. And a new pic of DS1 in knight's armour, with milky moustache.

It has gone cold and wet here, after I thought spring had sprung and foolishly packed away the bedding...

AuldAlliance · 04/05/2010 12:47

Photo of pox too small to see extent of horror.

ZuluWarrior · 04/05/2010 14:27

Poor pox-ridden Alex. Will have to take your word for it though. But he is extremely cute! And I love DS1's milky moustache. Any special reason why he was a knight?

I am about to pack the baby off to my Mum for 3 nights because my childminder's on holiday. Part of me is horrified at the thought. The other half is looking forward to Clash of the Titans tonight and dinner out tomorrow. Mmmmmm Sam Worthington .

Bicnod · 04/05/2010 15:15

I love your pics Auld - your boys are gorgeous

O is at the CM for the whole day today. She just called to check it was ok to give him some calpol (I bought a bottle and left it with her as he is in teething hell) as he woke up from his post-lunch nap screaming with bright red burning hot cheeks my poor poor baby - can't believe I'm not there to kiss it better

Good luck with 3 nights sans baby Zulu. Who is Sam Worthington?

Guimauve · 04/05/2010 17:35

Okay, my brain is broken. It is not the 6th today, and so not yet Harris' birthday. I'll take that Happy Birthday back and save it up for Thursday

Schulte · 04/05/2010 20:36

Auld, your boys are absolutely gorgeous and they look very very happy. So you are doing a good job! xxx

So DH came out of the shower at 7.35 this morning - when I was still in my nightie and hadn't had breakfast because I'd been feeding the girls. We have to leave the house at 8am to get to work. When I said, great, now I have 20 minutes to get ready, he basically told me it was my own fault. WTF???

He made good though by taking Hazel to the doc's with her sticky eye (again) and picking the girls up from nursery. But only because he knows my boss is putting horrible pressure on me about my working hours and my life is basically going to be hell from now on. As they have moved their office to bloody Soho I will now have to leave the house at 7.30 (and drop the girls off that early, too ) and I will never see my children. I really think I need to quit but I am scared of being a SAHM . Why has it got to be so difficult being a working mum?

Gui

Zulu make the most of your time off! And yes who is he?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 04/05/2010 20:58

Gui the 6th is Election Day!

Went back to work today. Gah. Can't even speak about it, but the whole place is in a state of chaos. Did enjoy the experience of drinking a whole hot cup of tea with noone clinging to my leg, though

More when I've recovered xx

AuldAlliance · 04/05/2010 22:32

Oh, Bicnod, sorry to hear O has been teething while away from you. It's hard, I know.

Schulte, your working life seems exhausting. From what you've posted, I get the impression you're not doing the job you're trained to do. Is there any chance of changing, doing something closer to home? I know the current economic climate isn't encouraging, but maybe you could find something more flexible and then shift up a gear in a few years time? Or be a SAHM for a bit and then get back on the job market?
As for your DH, he sounds as sensitive and understanding as mine can often be!!

WFH, hope you're surviving the return to work.

Zulu, there is no reason to be a knight, dontcha know. Tis either one's destiny or not... Enjoy your free evenings.

Feel I should clarify: that pic of a grinning A in a starry outfit is 6 or 7mths old. I will now upload a spotty pic, though not sure spots will be visible.

PuzzleRocks · 05/05/2010 08:29

Schulte - Can you freelance? I turned down a really good offer in the city when I was pregnant with Ellen.
It is the reason we are still renting but we just couldn't face it any other way.
I work just enough to supplement DH's wages. We cover our outgoings at the moment and money is always tight but it means imvho I get the best of both worlds. The girls are with me, and I get to do the work I enjoy.
Is that a possibility?

I hope you find a resolution that works for everyone. But mostly that is kind to you.
