OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BoffinMum · 14/04/2010 20:51

Well, little man has spots all over his body, inside his nose, on his eyelids, inside his ears, in his groin, and even on his ickle willy (ouch!).

But he is being so brave.

BoffinMum · 14/04/2010 20:52

Bebe, is there a risk of her getting dehydrated or has she had enough fluid today do you think?

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 20:55

Have to say there is a growing risk. We've had D for 3 days and now the V this afternoon/evening too. She keeps trying to take fluids/food but they come back up... pouches of ellas are also coming back now too. bmilk came up just now...

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 20:56

no fever... how do I deal with the sleep arrangements? she puked all over both our beds...

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 21:01

oh dear chicken pox? Poor fella. I hear that's going around too.

AuldAlliance · 14/04/2010 21:08

I think DS1 has chickenpox, but am not sure.

He has spots, single ones, randomly on his back, forehead and behind his ears. Some have a white dot in the middle. No itching.
Off his food, exhausted.

I have a horrendous week coming up: there is a post vacant in my lovely workplace and 40 applicants. I have to read 11 applications (each containing at least a detailed CV, a 5-page thesis assessment and several articles) and write detailed reports. In one week. While also doing a normal week's work. And attending several meetings. And writing a conference paper.

Chickenpox is just not an option right now.

BabyBolat · 14/04/2010 21:12

Oh no Auld, what a week for it to happen. Anything I can do to help (bearing in mind my A in French at school has not transferred to any ability at all in my adult life )

Bebe, only you know how sick she is but if it was going on for 4 days I would call NHS direct and get to a late night doctor tonight to make sure she is ok

Schulte · 14/04/2010 21:14

Bebe have you got any rehydration sachets at home? Would call NHS direct or take her to out of hours docs if at all worried about dehydration. Are you giving her water? Can she sleep in a wipeable travel cot?

Just had breakdown over dinner, cried in my curry that I don't like leaving my girls at nursery all day, that I hate my job, that I earn f... all anyway and that I want to give up work.

What do we all think... and if I do, will I have to pay any maternity pay back?

Auld oh no. It does sound like CP. Can someone else do the CV assessment?

Sending get better vibes to all the poorly babies and children and the exhausted mums.

Schulte · 14/04/2010 21:15

cried inTO my curry, I think...

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 21:17

I'm more worried abt the practical side of dealing with it. So far she's in a grumpy put still a playful mood...

Schulte · 14/04/2010 21:18

wipeable travel cot... lots of towels... would that work?

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 21:22

we haven't got wipeable travel cot; suppose that means the floor for both of us

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 21:39

getting out the camping gear... it all washable of course not sure abt blankets yet but I'll think of something.

BabyBolat · 14/04/2010 21:48

Schultes, did you get over and above statutory? Either way, I don't think you need to pay anything back.

It comes down to whether you can afford not to work and if so, would you be happy as a SAHM or is there something you could do from home that would interest you?

Will we see you tomorrow on your lunchbreak?

AuldAlliance · 14/04/2010 21:49

Oh, bebe, you poor thing. Hope the night isn't too bad....

Schulte, at you crying in, into or anywhere near your curry. This motherhood/work (zork? ) thing is rough.

I don't think you can help, BB, though I'm tempted to take you up on your offer and send you a few applications to judge. Given the amount of time I'll be able to devote to each one, they might as well be in a language I'd not used for several years.

No colleagues can do the application assessments for me; another of Sarkozy's shitty reforms has 'improved' the recruitment procedure and made it almost unworkable, hence the daft calendar with the deadline for submissions coinciding with Easter holidays, leaving us with one week to do the assessments and shortlist candidates for interview. The members of the panel had to be approved by the university's 'scientific council', and there don't seem to be any replacement or substitute members.

BabyBolat · 14/04/2010 21:54

oh good, I managed to pass my GCSE by recognising one or two words in each sentence x Shocking.

BoffinMum · 14/04/2010 22:16

Auld, give each application five minutes and hope for the best. That happens more than you would ever know. It does sound like DS1 has chicken pox, by the way.

Bebe, definitely rehydration sachets or diluted apply juice if you haven't got any. Ring NHS Direct as well.

Schulte, I left a job once and was supposed to pay back the extra maternity pay but they let me off. Maybe if they realise you're so miserable then they will be sympathetic?

PuzzleRocks · 15/04/2010 07:42

Sorry to hear about sick babies.

And Schulte I hope you come to a resolution that makes you happy.

PuzzleRocks · 15/04/2010 07:43

Have fun at Richmond park; I really wish we were going too. Next time.

MrsAFlowerpot · 15/04/2010 09:59

Enjoy Richmond Park everyone!

Here we (all) still have our colds, but A also has spots on back, think it may be heat rash, but unsure as yet. My nosebleeds also still coming thick and fast! It's lovely here!!!

Bicnod · 15/04/2010 10:24

Happy birthday birthday babes and get well soon poorly ones x x

bronze · 15/04/2010 10:28

Hello people

Cant believe its beena year. Happy Birthday MiniKAli and Hugo

DH is at a sort of job interview/discussion thing with his Dads company. His Dad wants to find him something, the rest of th ecompany don't like him as he was a bit of a dick when he did some work there. We're talking as a teenager so 15 plus years ago. He may hvae just grown up a bit there but norfolk people are like elephants.

Bebe- medical advice is not to give the sachets anymore. If they are dehydrated enough to need it then they need medical attention. Pinch her skin and check her fontanelle (it should still be a little exposed at this age). If it happens again, give her little sips of water (not juice as it encourages the D) and hopefully even though it feels like huge amounts coming up she will keep some down. Is she seems happy enough chances are her body is coping. They are resiliant as you have found

Poor Felix. I hope he doesnt itch too much.
Same for AAs ds1

Off to catch up
