Happy Birthday to all the babies who are already one!

Hope you're feeling better WFH.

It is a little embarrassing still BF at this stage as when we're out Evie shouts 'mil, mil' and starts tearing at my top. DH says he's going to teach her to say 'bitty' ...little Britain?!.. I will not be happy if he does!

Got a million things to do today and also am looking after my friends two little ones so with 5 children will have a busy but fun house today Hope to see lots of you Thurs xx

ZuluWarrior · 12/04/2010 12:54

Surprise .

What a lovely day. I'm home from night shift. Today before I pick up the baby from the childminder at half past 4 I have to:

Hoover the house
Do the shopping
Sow all my vegetable seeds
Dismantle a bed
Apply for a mortgage

What are the chances? Significantly more if I stop pissing about on mumsnet I imagine.

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 12/04/2010 16:05

Hi all hope you're all ok.

Just need to come on here and vent as I am a little stressed and having a woe-is-me however will I cope day.

We live in a council house in an area that has been earmarked for modernisation for quite some time and a few months ago we had the whole choosing fixtures and fittings meetings and were told we would hear from them nearer the time with a date for work to commence. Now with me being so down and struggling to cope on a day to day basis I have just shoved it to the back of my mind but I got a knock on the door this morning to be presented with my official 3WEEKS notice.

Now to most people this may seem reasonable notice but the house is an absolute s*@#hole and we need to basically pack everything up and move to my SIL for 6weeks whilst they rip my house to bits adn I just dont know where to start.

Schulte · 12/04/2010 20:38

Auld your zorks = zorks post made me laugh out loud I have nothing to add

Frogmella what a pain, I will have to pack up everything soon and I won't know where to start either! Hope you can get some help.

Guimauve · 13/04/2010 06:50

Happy Birthday Amelia!

Guimauve · 13/04/2010 06:52

Bicnod - how did Oscar do with the CM?

Frogmella, hope you've got some folks who can help you pack. I don't think there is a chance that I could get everything packed up to move in only 3 weeks. WFH is your girl - she moved into her new place within around 7 hours of viewing the house they moved to

kingbeat23 · 13/04/2010 10:17

Hi guys,

a quick dash in to say, i have been lurking in the shadows and trying to keep up.....no individual posts here but love to you and happy 1st to all.....

BabyBolat · 13/04/2010 12:36

hello and happy first birthday to all the babies I missed x Happy Birthday Amelia. We went up for George's birthday at the weekend, Kara and George mostly hugged, kissed and rugby tackled each other to the ground. Was very sweet.

Bronze hope you feel better, Auld, glad you're having a good holiday. Schultes, if you are having doubts, I wouldn't buy but only you know what the doubts are so it's whether you can live with them. Frogmella, that is quite short notice imo.

See some of you Thursday xxx

Schulte · 13/04/2010 13:02

Gosh isn't it quiet on here... feeling a bit nostalgic...

B52s · 13/04/2010 15:16

I'm back at work next week so should get on here a bit more regular! Hello Schulte - hope you and Hazel are well, and your other LO too.
Sam is napping and DS1 Zach is at CM. What a peaceful day.
Hope everyone is doing okay, and Happy Birthday to many.
xx

mrsgboring · 13/04/2010 20:29

Hello all and happy birthday to the first half of April babies.

Sorry I've been invisible - been running about managing the Easter holidays and generally making a huuuuge meal of being a SAHM. Finding it satisfying but scared this means I've forgotten everything I used to be. The other mums at church don't seem to be as eaten up by the motherhood experience as I have been...

WFH glad to hear your mum is doing better

Bronze keep posting or FBing if that's easier. I know what you mean about being unable to post when down.

Schulte why don't men get that the nursery pickup is hard?! In the brief period I worked it used to drive me spare that DH would get home an hour or two after I'd done it and refuse to hold the baby because "I need to get changed and have a drink first." Yes, because I'm changed, fed and watered of course. . Hope you get your weekly drink.

Frogmella - wow that is hard and short notice. Are you having a removals firm? If there is any way you could swing the additional cost, a removal firm will pack for you and take it from me they will pack it in any state (finding everything afterwards is not easy though unfortunately). At least you would know you could clear the house. [sorry if that is a really unhelpful and obvious piece of advice]

Boff you are actually probably the cause of my prolonged absence from the thread - your remark about whether Felix should have birthday cake because he'd never had refined carbs totally floored me. Edmund has spent the last week and a bit stuffing Easter egg in as fast as I can break off little bits for him to have. and [ought still to be a bunny ears blush]. Spent a long time actively encouraging cake, semolina etc. to try to put weight on him, until some time in January he turned into massive-o-baby.

Right better go and tackle the kitchen in preparation for another Groundhog day tomorrow.

Schulte · 13/04/2010 20:48

MrsG EXACTLY. But if I showed DH your post he still wouldn't understand

I've asked him to do an online food order and to make it easy for me I emailed him a list of things to buy. He's sitting next to me and asking me for advice on every item on the list. Thanks, I might as well do it myself

I am off to bed...

Schulte · 13/04/2010 20:48

nice to see you!

BoffinMum · 13/04/2010 21:41

Sorry MrsG!
As you will have read, I did make him a special birthday cake in the end and he enjoyed it so much that he didn't bother using his hands, but just dived straight in with his entire face. That's the way to do it!

However he now has Chicken Pox. That's what cake does to you.

He's coping quite well, though. Relatively cheerful considering everything.

mrsgboring · 13/04/2010 22:59

Oh no bad luck on the chicken pox. It was the cake wot dunnit, clearly.

Schulte, that your DH doesn't get it. Perhaps you should go on strike?

Edmund has spent the evening complacently sleeping on a pillow on my lap, having woken up just after I posted. Kitchen Armageddon will strike tomorrow because I am far too tired to clear it all now. [there should be a tired emoticon though I guess it would probably explode MN with overuse]

BabyBolat · 14/04/2010 08:44

Don't worry MrsG, K LOVES chocolate and cake and gets a little bit too excited when I open one of his many easter eggs (but then so do I as he couldn't possibly eat a whole one - well astually he could !)

Oooh Chicken pox, ouch, probably good to get them out of the way!

Quick question, Kara is snotty and coughy - I think it's teething as he is not poorly in himself in anyway but he has his jabs on Monday, should I postpone or phone Friday and see what they say?

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 14/04/2010 10:01

MrsG - That would probably be a fantastic suggestion but unfotunately since we are at the point of not even being able to afford to do any shopping this week until DH gets paid on Friday I really dont think we can justify the expense although it would probably make life easier. The main problem I realized yesterday was that if we were moving house we would just pack everything and although we would have to hunt for it we would be in a new house and be able to unpack whatever we want. If i pack the wrong stuff ie anything we need we will have no access to it for 5 weeks!

Anyway they are sending removal men to take anything we want storing on 4th May and then work starts on the house on 6th May for approx 5 weeks.

I am now worrying about how us moving DSIL is actually going to work as her 12yr old DSD comes to stay every other weekend and we will be staying in her room!

Anyway I had a productive day yesterday and sent 1 huge bin bag of books to the charity shop and 6 huge bin bags of clothes and crap went to the tip so I am feeling like I have at least made a start.

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2010 10:24

Busy busy busy trying to close this months reporting before tomorrow and then both girls birthdays.
Miss you all.

Good to have you back Frogmella. I hope it all goes smoothly.

See some of you soon.

mrsgboring · 14/04/2010 16:34

Oh bugger Frogmella sorry. Don't forget the power of MN and Freecycle - you can probably borrow from a MNer or get for nothing anything you accidentally pack but find you need. Sounds like you have been fantastically productive.

BB at ours they generally only postpone jabs if there is a temperature or child is really ill. I think you'd be fine but you can always check with them. Are you at MMR already?

Bicnod · 14/04/2010 17:25

Hi ladies - sorry for going AWOL for so long - no time to catch up with countdown to going back to work upon me...

Started settling O in with CM this week (erk). All going well so far. The big test will be next week when he stays half a day and she puts him down for his nap. I am proud to say that I didn't cry when I left him. But I did have a lump in my throat that wouldn't swallow. Not really looking forward to being a working mummy

Really looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow at Richmond Park - can't wait

Schulte · 14/04/2010 19:56

I've decided that being a working mum is crap but so is being a SAHM...

Schulte · 14/04/2010 19:57

On the bright side, DH has brought poppadums so will now go stuff my face!

bebemoohatessnot · 14/04/2010 20:47

What do you do with a vomiting baby?

BabyBolat · 14/04/2010 20:48

Shultes - I've decided that being a working mum is crap but so is being a SAHM - I agree, maybe we could pool our PR powers to create a job that lets us be both career and mum? Any ideas.... I was reading in Stylist today about the women who create Lola cupcakes and how many millions they make working from home.. ho hum

BabyBolat · 14/04/2010 20:49

Bebe, has she got a temp or other symptoms - call NHS direct if you are worried.
