Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bronze · 11/03/2010 14:36

hello all
no big news here
been reading but no energy to type
I havent forgotten you all though

ZuluWarrior · 11/03/2010 14:51

Hey Bronze. Nice to see you! Tell us your little news in a nutshell if you can...

bebemoohatessnot · 11/03/2010 15:18

Wfh good news abt mom.

What else? dunno I'm forgetful.
Love you ladies!

Schulte · 11/03/2010 16:23

Oh no A good friend of ours died last week and I've just heard that the memorial service will be on DD1's birthday - when we have a party planned and everything. We won't be able to go to the service

Guimauve · 11/03/2010 17:21

Hello ladies! I can't believe I've missed so much. I don't think I've had to read back so far in all my time here! Also sorry to have missed two specific shout-outs.

MrsG - Ugli fruit drug interaction research seems sadly lacking! But as they are descended from grapefruits in some convoluted way, it seems possible that they may contain the same compounds that interact with statins. Apparently Seville oranges and various other related citrus fruits also interact (something I did not know until I had a look into it - that's an hour of CPD for me!).

Schulte - How are Hazel's eyes now? As Zulu said, it is unlikely that they would have stopped working after being out of the fridge for a few hours (there is some data on specific brands that says in a fridge failure, as long as not exposed to temps over 25C, drops would be okay for up to 28 days).

I would love to be able to make Richmond meet-up. The 15th is H's birthday, but we have no definite plans. DH can get the day off/ can't get the day off/ may be able to get the day off, so who knows. We were thinking of the sea-life centre in Hastings. Plus, I am still scared of a long train/ tube/ train journey alone with H. . I could try and rope Kaz into driving (can't remember if you work Thurs!), but we'd have to try and get 3 car seats into the car!

The return to work has not gone too badly. There have been some fairly major changes, so it's all a bit strange. It's also quite odd being part-time, as I have to remember to handover information for people on my days off etc. H seems to be doing okay at the nursery. He cries when we leave, but settles quickly, he is eating well, drinking milk (they were a bit when we said he only drinks out of an open cup, with help, and not a sippy cup, but it does not appear to have been a problem), and eve sleeps now and again! Like Orbit, he is always fed/ rocked to sleep, so he sleeps in the arms of one of the ladies in a glidey chair at the moment.

WFH - so pleased to hear your Mum's op (finally) went well.

Schulte - sorry to hear about your friend ((()))

Frekkles - I FOUND A GLOVE!!!

Tiggs - bum shuffling and backwards crawling only here, plus as much standing with help as we can bear. And his only word is dadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadaaaaaaaaaaa. Oh, and still no teeth.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/03/2010 17:26

Hi Gui!

bebemoohatessnot · 11/03/2010 17:27

Schulte (hugs)

PuzzleRocks · 11/03/2010 17:46

Oh Schulte, i'm so sorry.

PuzzleRocks · 11/03/2010 17:49

Hey Gui, it would be ace if you and Kaz could come. DO IT DO IT

Surprise - My comping came up trumps again today. I won a group 2 & 3 booster car seat. Don't need one though so I have wapped on ebay. Typically I bought Ellen one just a few weeks ago.
The Caribbean holidays and Aston Martins continue to elude me though.

PuzzleRocks · 11/03/2010 17:51

Schulte - Sorry. That post seemed flippant after your news. Are you okay? Do you mind if I ask how they died?

surprisenumber3 · 11/03/2010 19:53

Oh Schulte, am so sorry to hear that

Gui/Kaz - Go on, come and meet us on 15th!!

Puzzle - woohoo on the win, that was a great prize - hope you make some money on them!!

Zulu - have been to docs today. He is going to keep me off Carbimazole so I can carry on feeding Evie, woohoo Levels are dropping steadily so he thinks I'll be okay! As for abdominal pulse, he called another doctor in to feel as he could feel what I meant. Before he felt he said no way would it be an AAA but when he felt he called in another doc! She felt and said it's ok as it's under 3 cm??!!! And checked my BP which was up, but then I was terrified at this other doc coming in so no surprise there. They then decided I was fine and sent me on my way! I also have a ganglion/Achilles tendonitis which is v.painful, think I am falling apart!

Zulu....do I think I'm ok

Schulte · 11/03/2010 19:59

Puzzle - no problem. Where do you keep winning all this stuff? I want to play too!

She died of a severe pulmonary embolism, basically just collapsed at her desk at work. She was 33. It's hard to understand and somehow hard to believe too, which is why I would have liked to say a 'proper' goodbye.

She gave us some lovely sheets and blankets for DD1 when she was a baby so they will now forever be treasured.

Gui, thanks for asking, Hazel's eyes are now okay, I switched to a fresh bottle of eye drops and that seemed to do the trick.

Must go help DH cook dinner...

surprisenumber3 · 11/03/2010 20:04

Gosh Schulte that is scary. It is always hard to understand and accept when it's someone close and even harder when they are our age. She would understand you not being there x

Schulte · 11/03/2010 20:41

Yes that's what DH keeps saying, she'd want us to celebrate DD1's birthday rather than going to her funeral. And I know he's right. She was a very special person.

PuzzleRocks · 11/03/2010 20:52

Bloody hell, Schulte, that's awful. Poor woman. Her family must be devastated. And how dreadful for her colleagues, that must have been shocking for them too.

I'm glad you are ok. Have a massive drink in her honour tonight.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/03/2010 21:09

my grandma died this morning

Schulte what a shock for you all!

surprisenumber3 · 11/03/2010 21:20

oh no Bebe, so sorry to hear that hope you're ok, big hugs. Is hubby home?

PuzzleRocks · 11/03/2010 21:38

Oh no Bebe . Yes, do let us know you are not alone.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/03/2010 21:41

he's not; i'm having a little bit of a tough time of it to be honest because of course i didn't know she had taken a turn for the worse because i'm over here and no body likes to bother me with such things 'because there's nothing you'd be able to do'
but he's home tomorrow; he's hoping to be able to leave on time though the project has gone to hell in a hand basket so who knows. But he will be home even if they want him to work the weekend he said.
but she was old and it was just old age apparently. nothing so horrible as Schulte's friend

bebemoohatessnot · 11/03/2010 21:44

I'm so upset because we didn't go to see her with Meg when we were home in Nov because we were poorly and she had just had the hip operation and they were worried about pneumonia etc...

surprisenumber3 · 11/03/2010 21:51

Oh bebe, I understand you are upset about not going in November but it is perfectly understandable that you didn't.

Hope DH can get home asap xx

PuzzleRocks · 11/03/2010 22:28

Sorry. Babies are restless. Bebe, is Moo settled? Can you get some rest? I'm here if you want to chat.

ZuluWarrior · 11/03/2010 23:28

Bebe, so sorry to hear about your Gran. DO NOT feel guilty about not seeing her. You had her very best interests at heart and she will have known that. And your family were protecting you - if you'd known she was ill but could do nothing anyway you would've felt awful.

And Schulte so sorry about your friend. How awful.

Surprise, if you have an aortic aneurysm I will eat my hat. Unheard of in someone so young. Don't worry. I had a feel of mine to see and it felt about 3cm too. Normal! And high BP is normal at the doctors. I had it yesterday when I went for my smear. What a lovely day out .

Gui! How fabulous to see you! And you seem happy, I'm glad. Also, pleased you're here to answer drug questions correctly - I've been guessing!

dawntigga · 12/03/2010 07:08

Bebe, I'm so sorry. Do everything you need to get through the day even if it means mainlining chocolate!

Schulte, a friend of mine passed away at work whilst I was there about 4 years ago. It's very shocking, if you need to talk......

Tiggaxx

Schulte · 12/03/2010 08:23

Oh Bebe it's hard when you're so far away. Lots of hugs xxx

Thank you everyone for your kind words. You're all so lovely.
