Hi everyone... Happy Valentines and all that... am just sneaking in a chocolate or too along with a quick MN window, but OH is waiting on the sofa...

hkz grrr at hospital and messing you around. Must be so difficult when you had been making preparations and steeling yourself for it all week. Hope you get some solid info soon.

So pat, just me and you, hey?! Very shoddy show from everyone else, I have to say [stern face]... but loving the idea of a camping trip (not that I camp, but I could bring the campervan!) down dog's way in the summer. Feral gangs of kids, bring 'em on!

dog happy birthday to Beth and Isla too for the other day - had never realised their birthdays were so close together.

gumps which dry shampoo do you use? I think it could be the solution for me - I have a fringe which really needs washing every day, but the rest of my hair is fine for a couple of days.

also, similar experience with my TMI last period - was the first since getting pg, and was not like a regular period at all - so probably to do with hormones or something... am now on about day 38 and still waiting for another, def not pg before you ladies get excited, no signs whatsoever, but all the signs of imminent period instead. Will be happy whenever/if it happens, but sort of hoping really for another year few more months before it does... am so in love with N at the moment that I feel it can't be improved upon, if you know what I mean...

Except.....we are thinking of doing the jay gordon night weaning thing - pat, lenni, hkz anyone else with big boy night wakers, do you have any experience/thoughts? Maybe not coincidence that they are all big boys... maybe really they do need a late night snack or two ... I am sure I would take a nice hot cup of cocoa if offered at 2am though... might try the bedtime formula thing that dog (I think) mentioned. For those with better sleepers, the JG technique is basically for co-sleepers and 'attachment'-style parents - you pick 6 hours where you want to night-wean, say 12-6am, and during those hours you cuddle them back to sleep but no booby... you let them cry but it's in your arms. I think it's gonna be tough...

Sorry for long waffley post about nothing in particular...Hope you are all being seriously spoiled... Had better get back to OH and the sofa.

missjackson · 14/02/2010 22:10

mm - enjoy bath sorry for cold!! hope u r feeling better today

pat - oh er missus

miss j - go girl

not doing much today

Lenni · 15/02/2010 09:16

at Pat! Very saucy!

Not done that sleep training MissJ, don't think it would have worked with D when I was still bf him since he was quite determined to be fed when hungry! And he escalates so quickly from moaning to full on crying.

Back later, need hands for wheels on the bus...

120 · 15/02/2010 09:55

Hi all, just popping in as we stayed an extra night at the PILs so am still down here. H also awake 2 ruddy hours last night. With us it is definitely not hunger or pain. He is just very, very awake, then gradually tires and goes back to sleep. Very frustrating. Not even crying once out of the cot, just crawling around the bed keeping us both awake. grrrr. had each of them waking me alternate hourly between 12 and 6. Not fun.

elkiedee · 15/02/2010 10:39

Thanks for all the messages and don't worry HKZ. Both my brother and sister got in touch yesterday. My mum and dad split up when I was a baby (2 weeks old!) and their dad and our mum split up when they were 12 and 15, so we're all used to being very emotionally dependent on her. I think that's going to be the hardest for us this year at best, we'll need to cry on each other when we need to and not look to her. And of course, at the moment, I don't want to let on or cry in front of DS1 - hopefully there'll be nothing to have to tell him.

just had a bit of a read back. Elkie, hope you are doing ok x

PatTheHammer · 15/02/2010 13:19

Just thought I'd join all you daytime ladies this week since its half-term I can pretend I don't work!

Nice morning with the DC's, we have painted, play-doughed done some singing and dancing, played happyland, DD has done some phonics stuff on the computer whilst Z has napped and I got some housework done, finally! This morning I did come down the stiar to find DD and Z 'cleaning' the bathroom with baby-wipes.....they did quite a good job actually! Off to meet a friend at garden centre this afternoon. I love not working

Books- clear side policy sounds good, I aspire to this but unfortunately DH does his best to thwart me at every available opportunity. Sick in hair, yeuch!

Dog- LOL at 'condone' camping, iphone??? get thee to the dentist whilst you are a preggy lady. Glad Bethy had a good party.

120- your night does not sound fun, I hate it when they 'tag-team' you DD has a knack of coming up to our bed in between Z's wake-ups at the moment

Elkie- good to have your siblings around, bit that your dad walked out whe you were 2 weeks old, your poor mum! DH was 2yrs old when his dad left and I thought that was bad.

MissJ- not sure about night weaning as never had to do it with DD, maybe tell me about it on friday, if DS is still up twice a night by then I may well be zombified enough to try anything. Hope you had a good time on the sofa (erm, not sure if I have ever mentioned it but BOTH our DC's were concieved on our old sofa.......bloody thing was cursed/blessed depending on how you look at it).

LOL at all your comments, afraid the new 'stuff' didn't get unwrapped for two reasons: firstly I am still on my period so not exactly rampant at the moment and secondly we had already had a shower together at the IL's yesterday morning.

In his defence it is quite nice and he did mumble something about me asking for underwear the other day or mentioning I could do with some new stuff, it is just a bit saucier than the stuff I would by for myself in asdas!

Afternoon all, feeling bleurgh here again...so have taken to my sick bed (well sofa actually)
Dog, glad the party went down a storm..am excited at prospect of camping.

Pat, very impressive DH! I kept sending DH the exact bra I wanted for xmas with all the details....and he still didn't manage to order it...mind you it wasn't very sexy! Hooray for the week off, it s great isn't it? 9Apart from feeling ill)

MissJ, def not a co sleeper here, both my DCs are like octopi (sp?) in thier sleep...think I am sending dh out to get bed time milk later and just going ot do a gradual withdrawal of milk and the cc or pupd. DD did this without prompting so am a bit AM pretty sure he isn't hungry...am pretty sure th enighttime milk at this stage is just a comfort thing...but then again he is a big lad...

Well our new fridge is just arriving (buying white goods has to be about the most unexcting or even depressing task ever...very hard ot muster enthusiasm for) but needs must as our fridge started leaking strange liquid last week and it was from the 70's I think!

Morning tink, lenni, 120 and everyone else...will catch up later when fridge is safely in its resting place.

Hello and good morning everyone!

Been away from here for a while. No real reason but just the usual busyness and just to tired. I get on Facebook, but it certainly doesn't require much thinking. V is doing great, playing peek-a-boo at every turn, getting into everything, (just when you think you are baby proofed...), very happy little one. She has been walking since 9 months but only last week, finally, by herself! She also has a couple of 'words' in her repertoire. She loves In The Night Garden. It is perfect that it is on 4 weekdays just before dinner time, so I'm able to get that on without a hassle. At breakfast time its Waybaluos. At lunch its Yo Gabba Gabba. I love that these three shows give me the opportunity to make meals without being hassled. She loves standing on the step stool to watch me or Daddy cook but she can keep an eye on the TV. Dh watches a lot of Law and Order and V grooves with the credits. Cute.

The night weaning thing took a few weeks here and we are still battling night waking, which I think will go on for years. Our routine was I read to V, then she has a bit of BF then off to bed by 8. She kept on waking every two hours, demanding the boob. DH would go in at the 10ish and midnightish wake, picking her up and snuggling her till she went back to sleep. then I would feed at 2 and 5 then up at 7. Then I dumped the 2am feed, kept her in her crib and patted her till she went back to sleep. Some nights, she brought the house down but soon she began getting the message. There's now no more night feeding. Occasionally, if she is exceptionally screaming, I'll put her on the boob but for the most part, she's not waking till 4. DH read an article on night terrors and children tend to wake up at the same time each night, but you can head it off by going in, fluffing blanket and moving her back to the middle, she makes it through the night most nights. Now I'm getting more sleep but for some weird reason, more knackered. ????? If I get up to use the washroom at night, I go into her room and re-arrange her and the system is working.

How many of you ladies are pregnant again? Some of my SuperFlyMums are... there are 6 out of 14 of us. One right now is 2 days over her due date. I'm really looking forward to it again. Dh wants me to wait to see if I get this tenure position as the sculpture professor at the university in September. Free daycare to faculty! Can't beat that!

Dog- he hedged his bets with a 12, thankfully my arse can just about squeeze in a 12 these days. He knows cup size cos I'm always moaning about being a DD! Isla sounds just like my monkey, he climbs on anything and nobody is safe from a 'Zach attack', he seems to think that if you sit or lay on the floor you are particularly vulnerable. I would banish that friend if I were you, just talk to her on a webcam.
Cinema sounds a great idea that I will reserve for when Z is a bit older!

Chef- lovely to hear from you. V sounds just like DD at that age she loved night garden and all that gubbins. it was great! Z couldn't care less whether the tv is on or off, although he does do a little dance to the mickey mouse/handy manny theme tunes, probably because he heard them a million time in utero! DD only into angelina ballerina at the moment, she turns it on at 4.30 and then either turns off after or puts the music channel on to try and find lady gaga

Books- that is definitely an upside of not driving! I was significantly fitter before we bought second car!

Lovely afternoon yesterday, I forgot the buggy but Z was really good, DD used to dash off and sadly had to use reins with her but he was brilliant, came running back like a little dog!

Well, DD had baby yoga this morninga at nursery and then have picked her little boyfriend up for the day. Weird isn't it how adding an extra child actually makes your day easier they have played nicely all morning whilst Z has napped and I have done washing and made tea for tonight ready. Off to museum and ducks this afternoon, that may prove more of a challenge!!

In other news, I think I may have had a full nights sleep last night, shouldn't have writen that really, damn it!

moosemama · 16/02/2010 18:40

Evening

Have escaped to laptop as I have cultivated a "Mummy's not very good at making pancakes" myth that my boys totally believe, so dh has to cook all the pancakes around here.

Well, I've had a nice day for a change (probably jinx'd myself now though). The boys have played nicely together with no fighting at all. They've also spent a good deal of the day building 'tower villages' all over the living room out of dd's bricks while she rampages around knocking them over to cries of "Oh No! Here comes Babyzilla!". It was very cute to watch, dd was screaming with laughter.

Dh had a disappointing birthday with me and ds2 poorly, but was very good about it and looked after us all very well. I still have a really vile head cold and sinusitis today, but feel a lot better than I did yesterday

Dd is also a climber, she decided today that standing facing backwards in her pushalong truck was a good idea. Lost count of the number of times I took her out, said no, refilled it with bricks and distracted her, then took my eyes off her for a second and she tipped the whole thing up and ended up underneath it. Fortunately nowt more than pride was damaged.

Chef, great to hear from you. V sounds really cute. Dd loves Waybuloo, but is absolutely petrified of In the Night Garden for some reason - I think its something to do with the noise that flippin' Ninky Nonk makes.

Dog, bet the dc's loved the cinema, what an inspired idea.

Pat, my sister teachers baby yoga, is it Tatty Bumpkins that dd does? Well done on the sleep, am very though.

Must off, pancakes are smelling yummy mmmmm.

PatTheHammer · 16/02/2010 19:39

Yes moose, Tatty Bumpkins and she loves it!!! I watched today for the first time and it was great. I just had my pancake and it was lush this year, changed tack a bit and followed the recipe from The Times 'cooking with kids' supplement as mine usually a bit hit and miss. Well it was a revelation!! DS loved them (surprise!!!) DD still wouldn't touch one!
Bless your DH making them all for you guys, and good the DS's had a good day

Had a lovely afternoon at park/ducks/museum and then managed to make a cottage pie for my mum and bro and SIL and nephews who are arriving in about 15mins and staying for a few days, Eeeek!

Check me out, cheesy pasta bake, cottage pie and pancakes today, right domestic goddess today!!

moosemama · 16/02/2010 20:31

Pat, did you use SR flour instead of plain? Works like a charm, perfect pancakes every time.

Have you checked out Tatty B's bamboo clothing for kids, its lovely, sooo soft and schnuggly.

Gumps · 16/02/2010 20:38

Just cathcing up but at 20mg Moose. That is what ds is on!

moosemama · 16/02/2010 20:56

It was the 40mg that caused the side effects though Gumps. I'm fine on the 20mg and am needing it a lot these days, life seems very stressful at the moment.
