New thread idea good jfly!

See what I did, now we are two - for those with new number 2 and expecting number 2.

And all the rest of us who get at least 2 tantrums a day from the 2 year olds.

OP posts:

Shock at assisting at yuor own birth Meg! Hope it doesn't happen that quickly.

megonthemoon · 19/08/2010 15:04

It was 43 hours last time, the last 30 of which were contractions every 2 mins. So when I was thinking that this time might be quicker I was thinking 10 hours, not the 10 mins my midwife seems to be betting on :) seeing as husband and in laws are both potentially 90 mins away, I might need to cross my legs!

JFly · 21/08/2010 21:55

My uncle nearly caught my cousin before he skidded across the bathroom floor. So, Meg, be careful if you're sat on the loo! Grin

Dontpanic · 27/08/2010 14:35

Ello all!
Am so relieved my website is finally finished, apart from the odd tweak here or there...all i need is someone to actually make a paying booking now! Am doing lots of service-swap hypno, mainly for weight loss which is going great guns for me & clients.
Really need some fertility clients to get those buns cooking in the oven, so to speak.
Anyone know if I can mention the competition on my site to win a session on MN or is that against rules?

Am having a mild panic as I've got a stand at the Cardiff baby show next weekend, so have been going through a flurry of Vistaprint ordering on brochures, banners etc. And am trying to figure out the birthpool inflation without falling foul of not having a PAT certificate for the pump. Apparently it'll be ok if I let the organiser know on the morning that I'm doing it, but honestly can't see what the danger to the public is if I'm inflating the pool before the show opens. Probably more risk from someone falling into the inflated pool!
Damn, must add that to the risk form now. :(

megonthemoon · 31/08/2010 07:53

Ah DP there's been nothing much of anything to report here. Midwife at 10 today. Tummy ache this morning - half think it means the baby will make an appearance at about 11.59 tonight just to guarantee being the youngest in her school year, but suspect that actually I just ate too much pizza last night!

Good luck with the baby show. I wish I had your getup and go to set up my own business Envy but I just like sitting on my arse eating hobnobs a bit too much!

Hope all are doing well.

timmyinatizzy · 02/09/2010 09:09

Blimey its quite on here! Suppose I'm guilty as I end posting on Facebook more.

Very excited today as its the DSD's first day at Senior school. Can't believe they'll be 12 next month. They seem so grown up now. They were 4 when I first met them and scrawny little things! Now they're nearly as tall as me and both have bigger feet. On the plus side it means they'll never ask to borrow my shoes Grin

We've made the big step into big boy pants with DS. He seems to be doing really well, we are so proud of him. Just needs to start doing the poos on the toilet and we're nearly there. Think it helps massively that he's doing it at nursery and has lots of his friends doing it too.

Well done to Ewe on her new internship, saw the message on FB!

And I hope it goes well for you at the weekend Don't Panic. I'm sure you'll win everyone over.

timmyinatizzy · 02/09/2010 09:11

Ooops and I forget to say good luck to Meg in the next few weeks. Hope all goes well x

turtle23 · 11/09/2010 19:56

Quiet round here, isn't it? I'm having a lovely flirty thing with an ex from years ago. Doing wonders for my head. Am thinking it's about time to start dating again. (If I ever give up breastfeeding........)

megonthemoon · 12/09/2010 16:23

Due date here. Not a bloody murmur. So much for being on red alert 4 weeks ago Hmm

This baby is not budging - this weekend has so far seen Indian take out, home cooked Thai (both with more chilli than usual), sex, long country walks, bumpy car journey. Nada.

Best friend coming on Tuesday with cake, and sweep from mw on Tues afternoon. What's the betting I go more overdue with this one than DS (who was born at 40+4)? I didn't think that was allowed with number 2 Hmm

Turtle - flirtation sounds lovely :)

turtle23 · 12/09/2010 16:44

Meg- Book a spa day for tomorrow. An expensive one. :)

JFly · 14/09/2010 12:49

Aw meg, the waiting is the hardest part! It's so annoying to be told you'll definitely deliver early. How very unhelpful. Hope sweep etc gets things going.

BTW, must ask you where you are in W Suss. We were down in W Wittering at the beach on Sunday and had a grand old time. It's a lovely part of the country.

My SIL (DH's brother's wife) just had a little boy on Sunday. Her third! I guess the odds aren't great for a girl for me, then. I think DH's family only produces boys!

Hope everyone else is well. Have you seen Purley's cute new little girl? So gorgeous.

Flirting is good for you, Turtle! Have fun. :)

turtle23 · 14/09/2010 16:38

Good luck, Meg....

It's getting bad. We're chatting 3 hours a day. Thank god he lives 6000 miles away.

megonthemoon · 14/09/2010 18:14

JFly - we're the other end of West Sussex just other side of Downs from Brighton, but love West Wittering. Tis fab here - genuinely do not miss London at all.

Also v jealous of purley and your SIL...

I thought it was the law that you weren't allowed to go more overdue with number 2 than number 1 Angry. I went into labour at 40+2 with DS (ok so it took 2 days for him to appear, but at least things were moving). I'm 40+2 now and absolutely no sign of it happening imminently.

Saw midwife today. Baby's head no longer engaged in any way and she has taken full advantage of disengaging by twisting back to back. Cervix not particularly looking like it is ready to go soon. She attempted a sweep but didn't really think she was able to do much. Another sweep booked for next Tuesday and induction booked for next Friday. Sigh.

FFS! This pregnancy is actually going backwards. I truly felt closer to giving birth a month ago than I do now.

I went straight from midwife to reflexology appt and am going to spend the evening bouncing on gym ball, eating raw chilli and pineapple salad, and mainlining raspberry leaf tea.

Gah!

Dontpanic · 17/09/2010 22:57

Bit late coming in on the conversation but Meg, if #2 still back to back, get yerself down on all 4s, forget the gym ball for now! And check out www.spinningbabies.com
Sweep will be pointless if you/baby not ready as she won't be able to start anything off. If you're ready, then no point doing a sweep, it'll only be uncomfortable & do nowt you wouldn't be doing by yourself anyway. Especially if out of position, will be more efficient if you can "persuade" junior to shift to kick things off.

cryhavoc · 18/09/2010 08:17

Oh, meg, I am really thinking of you. A friend went two weeks overdue at the beginning of the summer, and she seemed to spend the last ten days shouting, 'Get out!' at her bump. Hoping things speed up for you, and the extra long pregnancy leads to an extra short labour. (I know this is not how things work, but it should be!)

timmy, the pics of your DSDs on FB were gorgeous. Are they enjoying secondary school so far? Well done to DS on potty training so swiftly. I've had two goes with Ff and she just doesn't get it. She doesn't even notice when she's made a puddle. Sigh.

Jfly and Merryberry, how are your DSs getting on with preschool? Ff is in the preschool room the one day a week she spends at nursery, and loves it, didn't complain about leaving the toddler room at all, and I have put he name down for a lovely little preschool in the next village for when she gets her funded place next year. (It's got a semi-celebrity mum and everything!)

Back to uni in a week. Part of me can't wait, part of me is terrified at having to snap out of 'summer mode' and spend every non-child-watching moment either studying or proofreading. But such is life.

My grandfather died suddenly a few weeks ago, which was a big shock to everyone. He was old, and didn't suffer though, which is a bonus I suppose. He came to visit with my parents about four days before he died, and I am so glad he did because he sat next to Ff at lunch, beaming as she chattered away to him, calling him Grampy, and played a (slow) game of football with her out in the pub garden - it is a nice way to remember him.

megonthemoon · 20/09/2010 08:35

Still here, 8 days over. I can't believe it has been 5 weeks since midwife and I had serious chat about likelihood of me going into labour early!

Contemplating calling the baby Patience, purely because she clearly has it even if we don't.

PILs arriving to deal with DS today (I've caught DH's cold so am a bit under the weather) so I shall have time to be down on all 4s most of the day DP :)

cryhavoc - so sorry to hear about your grandfather. But wonderful that you have such a lovely last memory of him. When DH's nan died 3 weeks before DS was born, we were very grateful that our last memory of her was her 95th birthday party when they had let her out of hospital for the day - eating cake, cooing over presents and generally enjoying being with her family.

turtle23 · 26/09/2010 12:48

Hoping Meg is doing the babymoon thing....

megonthemoon · 26/09/2010 15:42

DD has arrived, finally! 2nd attempt at induction on Saturday finally got her moving. 7 hours all in, went from 3cm to 10cm in 2h10, pushed her out in 2 pushes! Gas and air, tens, birthing ball, husband and a bit of swearing - so much more exhilarating than the hideous 43 hour first time labour, and worth the 13 day wait!

Weighed 9lb - a good 1-1.5lb more than the growth scan predicted. Looks like she has been in the ring with Mike Tyson due to brutally quick delivery (I had a couple of minor tears too) but otherwise she's gorgeous - just sleeping, feeding and looking at the world.

Home now, not babymooning just yet as house full of eager grandparents but should be just us tomorrow :)

Dontpanic · 26/09/2010 23:24

Well done Meg & lovely name for DD :)

turtle23 · 27/09/2010 07:18

Well done, Meg!!! xxxx

Ewe · 28/09/2010 20:39

Congrats Meg, she is absolutely gorgeous and you look fantastic in the pics on FB! xx

How is everyone doing? How is your long distance lurrve thang going turtle?

turtle23 · 29/09/2010 12:27

It's going...:) (Can't wait for Christmas...)

Ewe · 29/09/2010 13:07

Oh come on, we need more than that you tease! Details!

crashfistfight · 29/09/2010 15:36

WoW Meg! Well done and congratulations!

wish I was on FB to see your photos. Only three months into having two myself I can definitely say it is absolutely wonderful! xx

turtle23 · 30/09/2010 11:45

Not too much to tell, really. We're just talking 3-4 hours a day and finding it really odd. It's not going to go anywhere, but is nice to have some attention. Am going to be 3 hours away from him for most of december though, so...who knows...

That is if I can ever put T down again. I am beginning to hate breastfeeding.
