New thread idea good jfly!

See what I did, now we are two - for those with new number 2 and expecting number 2.

And all the rest of us who get at least 2 tantrums a day from the 2 year olds.

Dontpanic · 08/02/2010 15:40

MB, wouldn't be getting there until late lunchtime, and at heathrow, so realistically, wouldn't be worthwhile zooming over to norf lahdan in case we get traffic hold ups etc on the way in. Damn school runs!

Turtle, if it's awkward then stay put, will just have to arrange another time (and then I can bring E along to terrorise enchant you

work is doing my head in today, got to go to dorset overnight tomorrow, meaning bye-bye dentist appt I've waited 3 months for, sigh.
Can't wait to go dogging for some relative peace n quiet.

Ewe · 08/02/2010 15:45

Dogging

DD was having a nap and I ended up nodding off on the sofa, twenty minutes later she is calling for me so I go in and get her and the SMELL hits me. She did a poo, took it out of her nappy and smeared it all over her pillow, cot, teddy, self. YUCK.

Most traumatic parenting moment for me to date, two hours later I can still smell it. Bleurgh.

Dontpanic · 08/02/2010 16:29

heh Ewe, I shouldn't laugh but ...my parents told me I was an expert at that as a toddler, all down the bars of the cot as well. That was in terry nappies of course, with the huge safety pins...

megonthemoon · 08/02/2010 16:39

My pregnant body is shuddering and heaving right now, Ewe. Can't bear DS's nappies at the moment due to heightened sense of smell, let alone what you just had to deal with!

DS is very sorry for himself today. So far he has been a generally healthy little thing and we've amazingly been blessed with no illness since the possible swine flu in November, but he has it full on at the moment. Nursery germs, clearly. Eyes did eventually succumb to conjunctivitis by Saturday evening and he also has a hacking cough, high temperature, snot everywhere, lethargy and I think hot/cold flushes as he is intermittently burning then shivery. He was never a clingy baby but he is a limpet at the moment. We're having a duvet day on the sofa, and DH and I are currently in a standoff negotiations over who does what days off with him as I'm supposed to be working tomorrow. Oh the joys of working parenthood!

Turtle - how is T after his jabs?

timelordvictorious · 08/02/2010 19:21

Yuck. Traumatic indeed, Ewe...I bet she was really pleased with herself too. Luckily, Ff has yet to realise her true potential for mingingness, but I suppose it will come.

Less than two weeks until her birthday now. Still can't quite believe that I'm going to have a two year old.

merryberry · 08/02/2010 19:46

ds1 never was interested in playing with his poo, dear god i hope he doesn't suddenly develop an interest, say aged 53 and start using weird websites*.

so hopefully we'll all be luckier than ewe with this quota of two year olds.

  • you shouldn't have mentioned dogging

merryberry · 08/02/2010 19:52

meg it's the weepy limpet who keeps fixing me with bewilderment and outrage in his eyes i can't stand - you know they're thinking something along the lines of i feel like shite, why isn't my parent making it better at this age? i used to insist dh took his turn to get away from the accusation in that look, then want to be home with the mite most of the time i was out. i don't mind so much when it's proper busy, but when you're sitting in some dumb repetetive committee listening to self important trouble makers make trouble and biding your time to spike them, i used to just think are feck the lot of you, this is a waste of my family time!

anyway i've just put poor hot 'n vomming ds2 to bed (he has got soft playitis i think, too many manky ball pits), dh away til about 10pm tomorrow. cooking sherry, anyone? i kid you not, it's all i have in! mind you it is super pricey wellbred cooking sherry, as i know my little nip tendency

Oh dear. All these poorly children. Chicken Pox is going round nursery again. DS missed it last time, wonder if he'll get it this time.

Big announcement..... DS did a wee in his potty tonight before his bath. We were so proud . He loved it when we all (me, DH, DSD1 and DSD2) clapped him for doing it!

Paranoid1stTimer · 08/02/2010 23:53

MB we have a recent case of potential SoftPlayItis here too. Of the diarrhea strain tho.... Nasty. Every frikkin time.

Paranoid1stTimer · 08/02/2010 23:58

timmyinatizzy awwww - that is just the cutest. My LO just like to sit Elmo on the potty then "flush flush!!!" but won't sit on it himself.... YET!!!

turtle23 · 09/02/2010 05:53

Staggering in from another sleepless night..

12 week jabs and no fever! Just horrid projectile vomit and shuddering baby. Apparently ALMOST NOBODY gets this from jabs.

merryberry · 09/02/2010 06:27

aw, shame para and turtle. ds2 sounds nice downstairs, cheery. hope he is cool. i just need to type a while as i pull myself together. am rather bleary, kept waking myself up last night.

have been reading jfly and dougggies cold advneture blogs, much anticipation fo them

jfly are you doing portraits then? drop me a line sometime on FB as i gent;y contemplate getting boy pics done. no good reason, just like the idea.

megonthemoon · 09/02/2010 06:37

I seem to have DH's jetlag I'm sorry you're all suffering with ill children / lack of sleep but it does make me feel like I'm not alone, so thank you

DS knows he needs to do a wee, but he likes to hover over the carpet and watch it come out... He shouts "WEEEEEEEE" with much glee and only then runs to the potty and sits on it Even if I say "Do you need a wee? Shall I get your potty?", he says "No", does his wee and then gets the potty himself

Lots of from me today. That's generally how I feel about life before 7am anyway, but particularly today: I now need to go and do some work before DS gets up as I lost out in the "who gets to stay home" debate so now have to fit 8 hours work in around DS's duvet day. Sigh.

timelordvictorious · 09/02/2010 08:41

I lost the who-stays-home argument too, Meg. Gutted, as not only had I done the required reading and questions for seminar today, but had cut out an article from Sunday's paper and made notes on that to bring up too.

I think Ff might have an ear infection. Night waking is not a common occurance in this household-Bloke looked scandalised when I kicked gently shook him awake and suggested he might take a turn at 3.

Sounds like a gentle day is in order for all.

megonthemoon · 09/02/2010 08:51

Ah tlv, if you've done so much prep for the seminar, you probably know more than the professor anyway

Fortunately DH is doing tomorrow when I actually expect he'll have a pretty lively toddler to deal with as DS is definitely on the mend - at least I get to email, MN and snuggle under the blanket on the sofa

monthlymayhem · 09/02/2010 22:44

Hello, Sorry to hear little ones are unwell. Thankfully here, DS has been cold & illness free for the last few weeks but Mummy hasn't - horrible d&v bug struck yesterday, but luckily seems to be a 24 hr thing so feeling a bit more normal now.

20 weeks already and I've got my scan on Friday - we didn't find out flavour last time round, but I'm really tempted to this time. Can't deny that I'm secretly hoping it's pink, but as long as it's healthy.....

Can't believe our babies are coming up for 2 already!

timelordvictorious · 09/02/2010 22:54

meg, this particular professor is very cute. He's very young and SO enthusiastic. So a particular shame I was on the sofa reading Peppa's Washing Day for the millionth time.

Hi monthlymayhem. Very exciting about the scan - we found out, and I can't believe the restraint of those who don't.

turtle23 · 10/02/2010 06:55

Am being referred to paed now for P. Poor little thing has swollen tonsils AGAIN and blistered tongue. Dr hinted that she thinks he is malnourished and I should have done more. I have been in there 8 times since mid-november and every visit is documented as me saying he doesn't eat much when it's bad. I am going to have a breakdown. Between him and T I feel like a completely shit mother.
I don't want to do this anymore.

littleducks · 10/02/2010 13:20

Turtle, give him some abidec/whatever vit he will willingly take is easiest to force and start your consultation with the paed with "Hi, this is P, I have been concerned for some time now that he isn't eating enough when he is ill but my gp has been reassuring me that it is fine" I hope they are both feeling better soon

This is just a flying visit from me, i only posted above as cant have you believing you are a bad mum.

I have been doing my own version of toddler entertaining

merryberry · 10/02/2010 15:56

good lord turtle, don't blame yourself for unjoined up medic-ing! look in the mirror, slap yerself silly if you feel like beating yourself up but you are only only to do this once and then you must laugh, blow yourself a kiss and remember this too will pass and you will endure. pass on a little head rub from me to each of your fine fellows, tell them Virtual Auntie (TM) Franky says get better boys.

OP posts:
pantshavenames · 10/02/2010 15:57

Oh Littleducks that is unfortunate. We took our two to a wacky warehouse on Sunday for the first time ever (lazy lazy mummy emoticon)and they loved it. Dunno about going again tho' after hearing those stories.

I hope P gets sorted out soon turtle and ignore the snotty GP.

I am trying to ignore all of those of you who are pregnant because I am suffering from a severe attack of broodiness caused by (don't laugh) finally deciding to sell the P&T . I guess because it's the last of the baby stuff and TBH DD prefers to walk most places (and do comedy dancing en route)
I just have to gently repeat to myself 'I do not want 3 I do not want 3 I do not want 3....'

I have finally twigged (after being increasingly concerned) that I have never heard DD call me mummy because she refers to me as 'mimi'. I feel like an extra from a french farce. what with that and the comedy dancing.

merryberry · 10/02/2010 16:00

soft play, ah littleducks you poor thing aftr such a nice evening!

OP posts:
megonthemoon · 10/02/2010 18:21

oh littleducks, you really are a very good mummy indeed. and you cheered up this miserable one, so for that i salute you even more

ilovegreenbeans · 10/02/2010 22:12

Oh littleducks, that is tres unfortunate... but I had to laugh! Poor poor you...

37 weeks this weekend. Will be so cross if I go overdue- everything is becoming sooooo difficult!

DD teething and bit ill. Lots of night waking, although DH is being a star and getting her most of the time as, you guessed it, crawling out of bed is v difficult!

Dontpanic · 10/02/2010 23:14

Turtle it's not your fault you've been banging your head against a brick wall, just see it as moving forward at last and getting something done.

If you want another chuckle that's non soft play related, what's the etiquette for san-pro in the arctic?
