New thread idea good jfly!

See what I did, now we are two - for those with new number 2 and expecting number 2.

And all the rest of us who get at least 2 tantrums a day from the 2 year olds.

No help with hurling toys or head-butting, but what DOES one do when DS throws his babyccino over Mummy not once, but twice?? I despair.

Dontpanic · 25/03/2010 12:53

Strict water only until he learns his lesson. Then maybe ease him back in to things with a green tea.

turtle23 · 25/03/2010 15:50

We have "I need to water the floor with my drink"-itis. And toy stealing.

Ewe · 26/03/2010 00:08

We have an obsession with taking clothes and nappy off, any chance she gets she is naked!

timelordvictorious · 26/03/2010 08:23

We have 'No.'.
To everything. Even to stuff she actually wants to do. (Requiring Mummy to use special psychic powers to work out when no means yes.)

Remember those sweet little babies?

But seriously, I am enjoying toddlerhood so much. Ff is hilarious, and such good company.

Missing out on a trip to see newborn lambs today because of plague. We were meant to be going with one friend with little baby and one very very pregnant friend, so have to keep germs (doubtless picked up from licking other germy toddlers) at home. Disappointed, but I suppose I'll be able to get some semi-revision in while acting as cuddle-cushion, Peppa Pig projectionist and juice-fetcher.

megonthemoon · 26/03/2010 09:58

I've had to cancel DS's birthday party / our housewarming party tomorrow So gutted - cake made and everything. Sigh.

DS really ill last week but finally okay now. DH absolutely rotten for 4 days now - high temp and 5 or 6 of the swine flu symptoms and definitely some variation of flu. I had swine flu jab due to pregnancy, and have nothing more than a sniffle and knackeredness (but that is probably due to 2 weeks of being 24 hour calpol/lemsip monitor). So I reckon swine flu.

Sigh...

timelordvictorious · 26/03/2010 13:32

Aw, Meg that's rotten. Will you be able to rearrange? But, at least the jab worked and you don't have pig flu.

pantshavenames · 26/03/2010 13:39

commiserations to the sickly amongst us... DD has had first un-parented session at nursery yesterday and some of the streams of snot cascading down faces there makes me resigned to spending the next few weeks with at least one of us with some kind of illness. She enjoyed herself which is good news as she's only got one more settling in session before I go back to work on Thursday.
Her birthday today so we have spent the morning playing with new noahs ark which seems to be a hit, tho' not as popular as a balloon...and licking out the bowl from the birthday cake.

timmyinatizzy · 26/03/2010 16:04

A manky old yellow balloon was DS's favourite thing from his party too!

Dontpanic · 29/03/2010 13:51

can I just say hurrah for putting E to bed at 7.30pm new money & him staying put until 7.10 this morning? Result! Until it gets a bit lighter again I guess Plus, it meant we slept in as he'd been getting us up at 6ish in old money terms.

How are all the sick people/babbies doing today?

timelordvictorious · 30/03/2010 16:01

Quiet around these parts over the weekend...

Woowoo for E! Still too chicken to take sides off Ff's cot, especially after hearing stories about escaping toddlers. A friend's son sneaks into bed with her every night.

Good luck at work, Pantshavenames. Are you looking forward to going back?

Ff's plague has gone, but I've caught a grown up version of the same thing. Vomtastic. So no university for me today, am pretending to study but watching Desperate Housewives instead. I hope everyone else fighting the lurgy is winning.

How was your weekend, Meg? Hope DH got better in time to enjoy it.

Exam next week, so Ff is off to ILs' house for the weekend while I revise. What an exciting Easter I'll be having...

turtle23 · 30/03/2010 19:31

In the last 24 or so hours two people have told me they're pg and one friend has given birth. I want another one.....

Am getting v excited about upcoming holiday and also terrified of 9 hour flight with both kids. Argh.

merryberry · 31/03/2010 13:36

gah.
sorry, not keeping up.

and going for a quick nap

OP posts:
timelordvictorious · 31/03/2010 21:31

Big hug, Merryberry.

Hope you had a good nap.

timelordvictorious · 04/04/2010 20:22

Happy Easter all. Hope there has been lots of chocolate.

Ff has been with grandparents since Wednesday so I could revise. Back tomorrow...can't wait!

littleducks · 06/04/2010 09:57

Just a quick 'public service announcement' (with special notice for EWE)

Tikkabilla is back on cbeebies early in the morning!

megonthemoon · 06/04/2010 10:49

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend. We scooted over to Normandy (due to novelty factor of living less than 30 mins from ferry port!) Had a lovely time but still not convinced France is as wonderful as we are meant to believe... Restaurants in particular weren't overly family friendly and served stupidly expensive food accompanied mainly by chips and fairly soggy veg. I just wanted a little bistro serving delicious steak-frites and a carafe of house red, on red and white checked tablecloths for less than 15E a head but I have come back convinced that that is just a tourist board myth... We'll probably stay in Britain or going to Italy next time

17 weeks pg now and been feeling baby move for the last 10 days or so Feel shattered though, and DH and I have concluded that we are probably going to stick at being a family of 4 rather than more, as I don't think I could do pregnancy and a toddler again, and we're knackered enough in general with just one child!

4madboys · 06/04/2010 11:07

wow hadnt realised there was still a post natal thread, i must have just missed it each time i pop onto mumsnet, this site is so big i get lost

i am thinking some of you have name changed? as i dont recognise all the names? congratulations to preganant ladies

i too am pregnant again, only 7wks, slightly mad to be having baby no 5! but excited

are any other the others finding that their two yr olds are being a bit beastly and violent? Rudi can throw sucha tantrum if he doesnt get his own way and likes to whallop his elder brothers, often with various toys that he has in hand. i tell him no, make him say sorry etc and am trying to encourage him to be gentle, but tbh i think its mainly frustration, he wants to be able to do everything his big brothers do and also he needs to learn to talk more so he can express himself without resorting to violence!

right i am going to read back and catch up with you all.........

merryberry · 06/04/2010 13:51

congrats 4madboys
no true idea who is who much anymore. kind of fun!

Ewe · 06/04/2010 18:59

That is such good news littleducks... Woop!

Just back from France, got on our first train at 11am this morning and only got back just before six. T was great during all the travelling but when we got home she thought it was morning and wanted coco pops or cheerios, think she may have thought tunnel was night time. Bless. J just trying to get her to sleep now.

We had a fab time, spent one day in Disney which I was unsure about at first but was fabulous, she really loved it and Mickey the Mouse is one of her new favourite things. Meg - I thought the same as you in Paris, overpriced and mediocre food although of course the exchange rate doesn't help, however, down in the Loire where we go to visit the outlaws there are lots of lovely little places as you describe. It just takes a lot of digging around to find them! Logis are always worth investigating if you didn't know about them already.

mad4boys - going for number five is incredibly nuts brave, congrats!

Hope you all had a good easter and good luck with exams tlv, I have mine beginning of May and not even made a start yet. Oops.

turtle23 · 07/04/2010 06:18

Getting excited sh£$%ing myself about holiday. Baby and 2 year old for 10 hours on my own. Eek.
Hope everyone is well and happy and enjoying the spring-like weather.

Ex-H has been very odd of late. Has been vaguely helpful, turning up on time and then it all became clear on Easter. He said "I don't think we should dismiss the possibility of getting back together in the future. We should really be a family." Am wondering whether this revelation is to do with me losing all (YES ALL!! ) the baby weight, having my hair done, wearing makeup, having my teeth done, etc. Too late, matey.

Ewe- I'm going to Ewell for the last treatment on Thursday am...let me know if you're free!

timmyinatizzy · 07/04/2010 10:23

I am so not getting broody. Help. It would be impractible, costly, exhausting, shock to the system, but yes I would love to have another.

So congrats to 4madboys, will you be name changing when DC5 pops out?

4madboys · 07/04/2010 13:06

i will be if its a boy timmy, not sure what to call myself if its a girl! tbh i think i would faint with shock if it is a girl

enjoy your holiday turtle and yep kick ex to the ground, what does he think he is on?

i am currently having a very lazy day after being busy for a few days, dp has been working loads so on my own with all the boys, not good when i feel like throwing up most of the day

Paranoid1stTimer · 08/04/2010 20:26

4madboys I am never on here much either but any time I need to check up on how the other LO's are getting on, I sneak a peek on here but tend not to post cos it feels like I am being rude just dropping in and not keeping up with everyone...

I am here just now to see if anyone else's recently turned 2 yr olds have changed into little tyrants and going completely off the rails. Some days I think Dillon hates me - he gets sooooo angry and frustrated and launches toys at my head often. Feels like I no longer recognise him at all. Then he will be amazingly sweet and brilliant again for a while only to turn into a crazy boy again later. I guess this is the terrible 2's then. Some days I feel I can't cope and worry that he is getting sick of me since we are together 24/7 as I can't afford nursery and am SAHM.

Anyway, as usual I didn't mean to rant. Just wanted to say "Yes, I have an out of control violent little guy" but he is a wee doll the rest of the time so... Phew.... It is hard enough with 1... Don't know how you and all the other mums cope!

timelordvictorious · 09/04/2010 22:01

Hello lurkers. waves

We're still relatively tantrum-free, P1T. I'm not sure if it's because she's a slow developer, terrible-twos wise, or because she's always been very laid back. She's a thinker this child of mine, and it makes me smile to see her little cogs turning.

Thanks, Ewe. I think it went ok - had to answer three questions and there were five I could have answered, so all good. How many do you have in May? And last minute revision works best, so don't panic yet. littleducks how is your course going?

Looking forward to next Saturday, Merryberry. Will FB you.
