Just noticed 3 grey hairs I'm only 31. how do I get rid of them or colour them? I've never ever ever coloured my hair. I don't usually care what I look like (aside of fat) but this is really getting at me for some reason. (??) not sure why. Is it all over from here? Will I wake up tomorrow with a full head of grey hair? help.

StarExpat · 17/02/2010 14:16

help me someone. I'm in a stupid panic. Don't know why I never thought this would happen to me.

KSal · 17/02/2010 14:18

Star, i noticed some about your age and haven't had any more since... but i have a friend who has lots and dyes her hair to cover it.

my only tip is don't pull them out! They are usually more wirey than your other hair and will poke straight up into the sky as they grow back

emma has got conjunctivitis for the millionth time. I hate trying to give her eye drops - she fights me and become hysterical it is so hideous but in the other hand if i don't give her drops she can't go to nursery and it takes days to go. I am totally dreading having to do it again tonight.

aubergenie · 17/02/2010 14:28

Star - sadly, it will happen to all of us! And some of us are further down the line of decrepitude than others.

I got some grey hairs around your age and they only very gradually got worse. But I've been colouring my hair for years, so perhaps it's not as noticable. What did you do about that hair voucher thing in the end? Why don't you treat yourself to some colour?

Or you could just do it yourself. I just use a semi permanent from Boots and it's only about £4 and takes about 10 minutes. You could just get one really close to your natural colour.

Ksal - that sounds awful. Poor Emma.

Good luck with the doctor Pepper. It sounds grim in your house at the moment.

StarExpat · 17/02/2010 14:46

oh good idea, aubergenie! I totally forgot about the hairdresser voucher yay! All sorted. I'll wait a few days and see what happens I guess. Just didn't want to wake up tomorrow morning with a shower of grey on my head!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2010 14:48

Conjunctivitis is a bugger isn't it KSal. Dd loathed having her eye drops in last week. Dh has it now, but thankfully makes less of a fuss .

star - grey hairs in fair hair like yours don't really show up, so you are lucky. If anything they will look like lovely natural highlights. And don't say they won't, as I have the same!

Worn the kids out at the zoo this morning, so they are currently sleeping in the car.

KSal · 17/02/2010 14:54

not sure my DH would make less fuss... he's the worst ill person ever.. fact

StarExpat · 17/02/2010 15:04

sorry. I'm self absorbed
that conjuctivitis sounds yuck. Poor Emma. ALl these poorly babies again! When Q got that when he was tiny, dr said rub breastmilk on it. ANy chance of getting a bit out?

KSal · 17/02/2010 15:08

think i'd have to get a donation for that star

I got my first grey hairs at 28 and started dying about 35? it's much easier if you're fair i think, like CSWS said, it looks like highlights. i looked like one of Macbeth witches
DD has an ear infection plus the D&V, poor little thing - and non specific rash (no surprise there!) So she has antibiotics - which are really really not going to help the bottom problem..... Also we face the atrocious nappy rash again - thank you s much whoever suggested Bepanthen last time - it's been a godsend.
DS2 can't even keep water down
I have to go to work tomorrow, DH is taking the day off to look after them and DS1 can go to the childminder if he doesn't succumb.
Having a takeaway and a glass of wine tonight! I deserve it after 18 loads of washing since Sat
KSal, the eyedrops are awful aren't they, we just use brute force and speed on ours whenever they've needed them, gets slightly easier when they're bigger as you can bribe reason with them!

pepperrabbit · 17/02/2010 20:48

where did everyone go?? Did my horrid self obsessed post drive everyone away???

It does just look sparkly with the blonde. No one else believes me that it's grey. But I've looked closely and think it is for sure.

Pepper. That's all I can think to say. How awful

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2010 21:24

Ooh how I'd love a chinese takeaway! I think that chinese and cheesecake will have to be my 'congrats on giving birth and welcome home' meal again!

I was having reflexology. now watching american idol.

aubergenie · 17/02/2010 21:27

Ugh Pepper - I think you're very restrained only having one glass of wine, in your situation. I hope you all manage a reasonable night and the abs kick in quickly.

One of my male friends started to go grey at 17. It's funny that it's only now, in his 40s, that everyone else is catching up with him. He has a very full head of hair though. Dp is bald, and it really depresses him.

StarExpat · 17/02/2010 21:45

lol dh is balding... but he'd never admit it. He used to buy a special shampoo and tell me it was for "dry hair" haha!! He just lets the top bit grow longish so it "covers the balding part" and since he has full curls still, it sort of works. Not when wind blows, though. He's really sensitive about it and would never even admit it to me if I brought it up. weird.
No more sparkly hairs have appeared... watch this space lol

chinese takeaway is so different here than it is in america. Back at home, it's just different and comes in those little white folded boxes with wire handles. I prefer indian or thai takeaway here.

That sounds like a lovely welcome home meal csws. Will you be homebirthing?

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/02/2010 21:48

Homebirth not an option because of the GD star, although I'm not really upset by that, as have always been concerned about what would happen if something went wrong with us being a good 20 mins from hospital.

StarExpat · 17/02/2010 21:52

oh yeah, duh. Sorry .
Some women were telling young childless people at work today about how magical childbirth and labour is... I almost choked on my food. When childless people left they started in on the horrors and pain!
