No we have been careful.
What about using a tampon applicator? (I know this defeats the purpose)

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/01/2010 09:48

Won't work, because you have to sort of fold the rubber over whilst you insert it, and then let it unfold when it's in, and you couldn't do that with an applicator.

I used to think about mooncups. I used to think "Urgh, a small bowl thing collecting your period blood? How vile." I've changed my opinion now though. I know you have more of a problem with actual inserting bit don't you Star. That has never been a problem for me, I've always used non-applicator tampons, mainly through necessity as the applicator ones make me feel sick & odd.

I have to say i'm with star on this one. I can only use applicator tampons and just the thought of a mooncup gives me the heebie jeebies, not just getting it in - but getting it out again.

pepperrabbit · 27/01/2010 11:04

we have no heating again it stopped about 3pm yesterday, DH got it going again when he got ina t 7pm but it had clearly failed again in the night. British gas promise to be hear between 12 - 6. so that's the afternoon buggered up. was supposed to be going to my mum's for lunch with DD but now she'll have to come here - I await to see what she'll wear - she keeps her house at about 20 degrees! it's 14 here at the mo.
And I had just given back all the radiators we borrowed

pepperrabbit · 27/01/2010 11:05

here not "hear". deary me, standards are slipping!

ronshar · 27/01/2010 11:38

Pepper that is rubbish. Get in quick because I think we are due more snow the end of the week!!!

Star I think that unless you have been having double sessions with your counsellor and you have really worked through stuff then a mooncup could send you over the edge. Its the rummaging that I feel slightly vomit uneasy about

Cold here again today. I have got a little squirrel looking at me from the other side of the window. Very cute but vermin.

pepperrabbit · 27/01/2010 12:12

Ronshar - I had a sudden mental picture of Sarah Palin with that gun when you mentioned the squirrel!
I suspect our heating is just a bit jobsworth and thinks it's too cold to work.
Have collected a heater from my friend for DDs room as she's a complete wus softie and won't sleep in the cold. A tired, fractious baby as well might be too much....

50ftQueenie · 27/01/2010 12:13

Oh Pepper that is so crap. Make sure the bastards fix it properly this time.

I am a little concerned about the removal of the mooncup. I am concerned about having difficulty getting the bugger then - splat! I am not phased about rummaging around but then I guess I might have had more rummaging around by others than some of you because of the whole cyst thing. I once pulled a tampon string out of the tampon (bloody own brand tampons) but managed to fish the thing out myself!

Ronshar - Is it the sensation of rummaging around that makes you feel a bit queasy? Because I can't imagine you being queasy about ANYTHING!

pepperrabbit · 27/01/2010 12:20

see, my knees have clamped together with just the mention of rummaging!

50ftQueenie · 27/01/2010 12:27

Hee hee! How on earth did you survive having three babies?

OP posts:
StarExpat · 27/01/2010 12:33

yuck, me too.
Once I got a tampon stuck (forgot to take it out ) after finished my period and had sex and it was wayyyy stuck. Did I post about that before?
that was a rough day

pepperrabbit · 27/01/2010 12:37

50ft - I was the woman the midwife actually had to say - "now, you do realise you have to take your knickers off now, NOW"
star bad day indeed!

StarExpat · 27/01/2010 12:41

Pepper we should go get our smears together. We could help each other through it!
I always involuntarily snap my knees together as soon as she comes near. I don't even realize I've done it most of the time.

50ftQueenie · 27/01/2010 12:41

Pepper.

Oh ouch Star! How did you remove it? How long did you leave it in for? Be careful woman, that's how people get TSS. Having said that, I once put in tampon in on top of another one. I felt uncomfortable for ages.

OP posts:
StarExpat · 27/01/2010 12:56

a variety of creative things. It was absolutely horrible. But it's out now

KSal · 27/01/2010 13:21

i know it sounds very wrong, but re the mooncup coming out: i actually really like to see how much blood there is because with towels and tampons you never really know. I haven't been able to use it very succesfully since childbirth though

50ftQueenie · 27/01/2010 13:23

KSal - That is part of the reason I want one! I am curious to see, but don't want it to go on me iyswim. My mum has instilled in me a curiosity about yucky bodily things like head lice, spots, whitlows, thread worms......

yay for jury duty exemption pistachio!
about the cervix shape thing.

50ftQueenie · 27/01/2010 13:51

Oh excellent news Pistachio!!!! You can relax now. Yay! I still think the woman on the phone was being stubborn because of the amount of people who try to get out of jury duty for crap reasons. But then again, she might have just been being nasty!
