I love cats. They're so snooty. But I'm not keen on dogs either. S, on the other hand, likes nothing better. There are quite a few young men swaggering around our park with dangerous dogs and it worries me a lot as S just thinks they're all wonderful and has no fesr.

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 11:27

My friend has a lab and a german shepherd - both who love Q dearly. Q loves them, too. Most dogs are nice, I've found. Q can't quite understand why the german shepherd who goes for a walk in our local park with his owner doesn't come bounding over to him to play. He looks exactly like my friend's dog. So I can see why he doesn't get it.

I'm not really a "dog person" but I wouldn't mind a little one, like a little scottish terrier or something. I'd have a real problem with it living in my home and making a mess, though. I like cats but can't fathom the mess and litter box scent...etc. in my own home. In someone else's home - absolutely fine

pepperrabbit · 29/01/2010 11:30

star! move away from the panic button! He'll be fine, I think mostly baby stuff is simply more expensive milder than grown up stuff. I'm sure it's a recent marketing invention. Mine have to use all sorts of stuff depending on whats in the bathroom.
only thing I'm careful about is toothpaste cos of the fluoride levels. No idea if there's a scientific reason for that though!

pepperrabbit · 29/01/2010 11:32

cats good, dogs bad.
I like to sit on the fence on important issues!
Right back to work (was having a quick cup of tea)

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 11:37

oh yes I'd never give Q our toothpaste. He has his own always. But shampoo/body wash just couldn't find a reason - thanks for reassurance!

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 11:37

I'm typing up reading assessment reports and MNing to procrastinate while my kids are at recess.

50ftQueenie · 29/01/2010 11:50

Oooooo!!!!! I have received my up-dated BFC application pack thingy and apparently these days you DO get paid to be a BFC! Yay! That settles that once and for all! Might mean I have to pay something towards the course though......

I don't use baby or adult stuff on ds! Water is just fine. Although I did use a bit of aloe vera shampoo on him today because he seemed to want me to. Dd used to have baby shampoo, but now prefers to use whatever we are using.

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 12:40

As you know, I wouldn't feel confident that DS was totally clean unless I used some sort of body wash or shampoo on him . I know he's probably absolutely fine with water. It's just the stinky poos and food that gets everywhere. I want to wash the smell away because then I feel like it's all away, when in reality that probably does very little!

aubergenie · 29/01/2010 12:41

Ladies, I've just bought one of those Clearblue Fertility monitors. Dp and I have decided to start TTC. I'm not telling anyone in RL as I don't want constant questions about it so I'm only telling you lot. Feeling a bit nervous in case I find out that I'm too old and nothing works anymore.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2010 12:45

Woohoo - go for it aubergenie! Are you right at the start of a cycle now?

50ftQueenie · 29/01/2010 12:49

Yay! How exciting Aubergenie! Good luck and fingers crossed for you.

Best wishes, aubergenie

I got my period very full on last night. Thank GOD. I am not one ready to TTC and probably never will be.

aubergenie · 29/01/2010 13:04

A couple of days in CSWS, which is fine as you can start using it up to day 5. I borrowed one from a friend last time and hit the jackpot on the first month both times (MC first time) so my expectations are a bit high. I need to be realistic and remember that I'm two years older now and things may not be so easy.

KSal · 29/01/2010 13:23

aubergenie, very exciting!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2010 13:40

Are you coming to ronshar's aubergenie? Will we need to mind S for you whilst you nip upstairs for a quickie?

aubergenie · 29/01/2010 14:01

Oh don't CSWS! I was at a wedding once when one of the usher's wives called him upstairs during the reception for exactly that reason.

Yes, I want to come to Ronshar's. Need to sort it out with dp though as I will want him to help with the driving.

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 14:10

Perhaps aubergenie we could drive down together? You're not too far from me, right? Unless you wanted dp to come - but I thought you said he wouldn't want to... that would depend of course, on me convincing my dh to stay home...

ronshar · 29/01/2010 14:17

Ha ha ha I hate to put a dampner on your plans Aubergenie but we live in a bungalow. We do have a separate garage though but it is a bit cold out there.

OMG we could have three ladies in the club at the same time.

Star small children need nothing other than water. I use shampoo only for the smell and so W hair feels nice.

Ladies I have 2 cats. One is a long hair who I am so completely allergic to it is ridiculous. The other is a 8month old kitten. I shall make sure the older cat is safetly hidden away. To be honest once she realises it is the weekend and the children are home she buggers off anyway. The kitten will hide away in the girls room so dont worry, I def dont expect anyone to try and get into that room. Life in your hands situation that is!
Also no poo in the garden

W has just learnt to recognise himself in a reflection. He now waves at himself all day! Strange boy

aubergenie · 29/01/2010 14:18

That's a lovely suggestion Star but we're quite a way from each other. I'm way out in east London (Stratford) so we're at opposite sides of the city.

ronshar · 29/01/2010 14:21

50ft those cats get really sweaty apparently[vomit]
Star I know a vet who is trying very hard to get us to adopt a little puppy who needs a home badly. You could have it. It is a little border something or another. I dont do dogs. Or the poo or the walks!

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 14:22

I think I use it for the smell, too I love things smelling yummy!

Does a bungalow mean no stairs?

StarExpat · 29/01/2010 14:27

we'd have to move first. I don't want a border collie. I'd like a little scottish terrier. But I don't want to be responsible for it's poo and walks. And I don't want to clean up after it in my home. So... I'd like my neighbour to have it, really
