Phew! Bits have crumbled off and fallen into DH's mouth so it's rough around the edges. It looks very gooey!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 17:43

Yes heavy and dense - crumbles round outside when freshly cooked, but sets firmer overnight (esp in fridge). I have made one today too for guests to have with dd on Monday morning. Just had a small tester piece with some cream on - got to make sure it's ok haven't I? Though I will actually prefer it after a day or two.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 17:49

Oh and happy birthday pepper!

aubergenie · 06/02/2010 18:16

Yes, Happy Birthday Pepper!

Pistachio - I reckon 50ft is right - you could probably omit the cheese and the egg would bind it together. You would probably need reasonably wet veggies though otherwise you might need to add a few spoonsful of stock so it's not too dry and crumbly.

Those cakes sound delicious. I'm getting excited!

50ftQueenie · 06/02/2010 18:21

Right that's everything done. I'm knackered! There are only 8 lemon drops though. I think that my mini muffin tin is slightly bigger than recommended so they are a limited edition. The edge of the Chocolate Heartache cake is very wonky but I'm sure you'll forgive the appearance! The carrot cake is cooling with it's glaze soaking in and the topping is in the fridge (and is pink). DH says it tastes like strawberry angel delight with is amazing seeing as there isn't any strawberry in it. You lot had BETTER appreciate my gargantuan effort. My back is killing me and I feel caked out from the little bit of tasting I've done. No dinner for me tonight.

StarExpat · 06/02/2010 18:40

I'm making the coconut cake with naughty chocolate icing. I LOVE that cake.

Can I still come? Q has been on antibiotics since 6pm last night and is responding to them quite well.

Please just tell me if you'd rather your dc/you not be around him and I will stay home... and won't be offended.

Aubergenie - we've met, some of us, but I'm always shy at first!

IF it is ok for Q and I to come...
Do you need anything else, ronshar? Anything I can pick up on the way? Also, are ronshar's phone details on fb? It will just be Q and I and I am probably going to get lost. Because that's what I do...

I was thinking of leaving here at 11 so Q could sleep in the car on the way there and back. Otherwise, no nap will mean we will most certainly be kicked out within about 10 minutes!

Honeymoonmummy · 06/02/2010 18:55

Hey guys, remember me??? Been manic on a job at work, not been having lunch breaks so not had my planned lunchtime MN sessions. I've been back a month and I've only managed to get to the city centre shops at lunch (10 min walk away) once!!!

I see the Ronshar meet-up is soon, hope you all have a great time. I wish I could be there but it's just too far.

I've only read this page so apologies if I've missed anything major. Started reducing the AD's 4 days ago and I'm having a bit of a ropey day today, altho that might be cos I'm v tired from work and going out for post-work meal with colleagues last night, found it exhausting to talk and laugh for that long!!

We've been to a local park and mini-zoo today so that was nice.

My weightwatchers continues, 2.5 lbs this week so it's really slowing down but it's going in the right direction!!

Pops has become a near-confident walker this week, she's been walking round the park today, albeit holding our hands or with reins on. She loves walking, so cute!

She's obsessed with trying to dress herself at the moment, she got a pair of trousers on the other day but unfortunately put both legs in the same leg

Wow, new emoticon!

50ftQueenie · 06/02/2010 19:21

We will probably be there early afternoon. DS has a football match and kick off is at 11.30. We have asked that he is in the first game and a match is about 30 mins. We should be leaving by 12.15 so should get to Ronshar's by 1.30pm. I know it's late but you know boys and football!

Hmm - I was wondering where you were. In fact I said just the other day to DH that we don't see you anymore. He said "Maybe she thinks you're all horrible" , maybe......
Glad work hasn't been too traumatic, you've managed the shops after all. 2.5lbs in a week is fabulous weight loss. I have now lost.... 24lbs in 5 weeks although I bet I'll put some back on this weekend.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 06/02/2010 19:26

Hmmm.... actually we'll be there at about 2 looking at the distance.

Ekka · 06/02/2010 19:33

Ok ladies, I'm afraid you'll have to do without us. Both kids are fine but I've been down with either mild food poisoning or a mild stomach bug today. I hope its just food poisoning because I don't want the dcs down with anything else, but even if it is, I don't think I'm up to going anywhere tomorrow (and you'd all hate me if it actually was a bug and I spread it around) so I'm afraid we'll have to come to the next meet up

Kids are in bed, dh has been a star and not gone into work today, which has really buggered up next week for him as he was already planning on working tomorrow, so I'm now off to bed and hoping to feel much better tomorrow.

Happy birthday Pepper!

Have fun tomorrow ladies

I'd be ok with a stomach bug Ekka! Actually no I wouldn't as DH is very busy with work at the moment. Shame you won't be able to make it tomorrow. Hope you feel better and that it is just something you ate.

Pistachio - Never thought of it that way! Considering how much of a lump M feels that's not bad really is it?

StarExpat · 06/02/2010 20:14

Congrats on weight loss, 50ft!

Hey! Pay attention to ME for a minute! Are you ok with us coming since the GP said it was tonsillitis or not? He will have been on antibiotics for 43 hours by that point but drs always say they are no longer contagious after 48 hours on AB's. What do you think?

HMM nice to "see" you Glad things are going well and congrats on the walking!

aubergenie · 06/02/2010 20:19

I don't have a problem with it Star.

Ekka - Hope it is only food poisoning and nothing contagious for your sake. Hope you manage to sleep it off.

Ds still hasn't gone to sleep. He's normally so good but just won't be left. Dp has taken over now. His head feels really hot, so I think it's teeth. I hope we're not in for an awful night.

Hello HMM! Congrats on the weight loss. Hope work calms down for you soon.

aubergenie · 06/02/2010 20:21

Sorry 50ft - well done to you too. Losing a whole toddler's-worth is very good going!

StarExpat · 06/02/2010 20:21

Everyone should bring calpol - all these fevers abound

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 20:59

I don't mind you coming star. But if you haven't iced the cake yet then is there any way that you can leave a bit without the choc icing? I'm being nice to dh here, as he is allergic to chocolate - weirdo!
How long is the journey for you star? Would Q not nap just a little bit earlier if you left at say 10:30 instead?
I have no idea what ds will do for a nap. Although it's a long journey down it will almost certainly be too early for him to sleep, so we'll just keep on going until he can't take any more, and then come home. Let's hope that he can last a long time, as dd won't be happy if she doesn't get to see your ds for a good while 50ft! Although I expect that she'll make a new best friend in ronshar's dd2 in no time at all. Especially if she has dressing up stuff .

I bags a lemon drop!

Sorry that you won't be able to make it ekka. I was looking forward to seeing you again. And you'd have made aubergenie feel better as you haven't met everyone else yet either!

Well done on all of the weight losses. We won't recognise you 50ft!
I of course won't be looking any thinner on account of being over 19 weeks pregnant! Although I haven't gained anything either.

50ftQueenie · 06/02/2010 21:04

Oooo well done to you CSWS! That's good going. I honestly don't think I look any different yet...... I shall reserve a lemon drop for you. I hope dd likes her pink icing....

Star - No problem as far as I am concerned. I don't think that tonsillitis itself is infectious but I might be wrong on that one.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 21:09

Also no idea whether tonsilitis is contagious/infectious, but I will pull him off if he tries to french kiss D .

ronshar · 06/02/2010 21:10

Sorry not been on for the last few days. My real life has just got in the way. Damn it.

Aubergenie yes you are correct it is Worthing central. If you tell me what time train you are getting I shall come and get you. You could walk but it will take about 30 mins to my house or 5 in the car.
Dont worry about bringing anything. We are all set here and it is just the mad cake makers who shall be bearing cake.

Star bring your germs with you. My family is always complaining of something. DH has a cold at the moment. So the more germs the merrier. I dont think Tonsilitus is contagious but could be wrong.

We had a lovely sunny day here so hoping for another one tomorrow. We could go to the beach if it is sunny, we could promenade.

50ft, your carrot cake hasnt got yucky pucky raisin things in it has it. Please tell me it hasnt, please. It will ruin my day.

CSWS only sexy chicks wear glasses, so no worries about D.

StarExpat · 06/02/2010 21:14

oh no! I just iced it after my last post I could cut him a piece and carefully cut off a thin layer on the top and bottom so that he can have cake without icing. Sorry for that.

You just never know - some parents are very very cautious about their babies being around others with any sort of sickness. I'm actually not convinced it's tonsillitis because she barely looked at his throat. But on the other hand, if she could tell how big and bright it all was by just looking breifly, maybe it is. No idea.

50ft you and I are going in opposite directions. As you thin out I'm fattening up with all this damn cake! I'm bloated from period as well. I'm looking fabulous of late

csws it takes us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there. Q may nap at 10.30. I'll see how tired he is in the morning. It's just that if he doesn't have that nap, he'll be a total nightmare. He can have that short nap as long as he gets another one in the car ride on the way home. I think that will be ok as a one off. If he gets tired enough, he'll just climb up into my lap and fall asleep on me, though.. I have a feeling all of the other toddlers running around will be enough stimulation to keep them all awake

StarExpat · 06/02/2010 21:16

lol at Q french kissing D

Ok, that is good news... but, if tonsillitis isn't contagious.... HOW did he get it????? I asked the GP what I can do to prevent this happening again and she said there's nothing I can do. Frustrating!

ronshar · 06/02/2010 21:21

Ekka, I hope you are feeling better soon. You are more than welcome to visit another day. If you fancy a day by the sea.

We have dressing up stuff coming out of our ears. We have a trampoline in the garden which one of the cats has tried to destroy the netting! But it is still contained so still safe.

Well done ladies with the weight loss. I admire your determination. I wish I was as good.

I will go on to FB now and put in my phone numbers.

50ftQueenie · 06/02/2010 21:23

My understanding is this..... Tonsillitis is a reaction to germs that would have been a chest infection if it had got past the tonsils. They are there to stop infection getting down the throat to the more fragile bits inside. Does that make sense.... So tonsillitis itself isn't contagious.........

Ronshar - It doesn't have raisins in it... but it does have sultanas. Blame CSWS it was her recipe suggestion Sorry. I hate dried fruit too (known as bibbies in this house) so I feel your pain.
