Q's throat is bright red and tonsils swollen again. New antibiotic

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2010 20:08

Oh bugger star. How long is it since they were swollen before? But you got to GP in time for antib's though, yes?

Yay for good holiday myjob.

StarExpat · 05/02/2010 20:23

I think that was just a few weeks ago, right? ugh, well, new antibiotic is yummy, at least I just hate giving it to him!
can I still come to Ronshar's?

aubergenie · 05/02/2010 20:29

Ouch, poor Q. Hope the antibiotics kick in quickly.

Welcome back Myjob! Glad you had a lovely time.

CSWS - it must be horrible to hear that your ds's eyes aren't perfect. I know I'm hoping that S inherits dp's eyesight and not mine, which is dreadful. But as the others have said, he'll look very cute and there are some lovely glasses around these days.

Well done Pistachio - hope you're feeling proud of yourself.

Star - The minibeasts didn't turn up sadly. My jobshare partner was going to chat to the children on Thursday, and I now need to figure out what to do when I'm in on Monday.

So, what time are people arriving at Ronshar's? I need to get my train ticket booked. Does anyone know if it's definitely Worthing Station I need to get to?

50ftQueenie · 05/02/2010 20:43

Aubergenie - Looks like there are a few stations in Worthing. I have just looked it up. I am pretty convinced it is Worthing Station you want, not Worthing East or Worthing West. I looks like a train goes there direct from Victoria. Does that help at all? Still not sure what time we'll get there, DS has a football match. [rolls eyes]

Pistachio - Well done! You must be very proud of yourself.

Star - Oh bugger. Poor Q! Think of it this way..... his tonsils are stopping him from getting a chest infection which is usually much worse. It's the job of the tonsils to get infected to prevent infection going further. They're the first line of defense. The ABs should kick in fairly swiftly.

aubergenie · 05/02/2010 20:45

I think you're right about the station 50ft. I'll wait and see if Ronshar comes on tonight before I book anything.

I didn't know that about the tonsils. You really are a mine of information.

That's my most made cake from the book pistachio. I love it!

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2010 21:12

And we're aiming to get there around 11am aubergenie (though we are generally late for everything).

Ekka · 05/02/2010 21:40

Ok, can someone fb me details of Ronshar's address (or is it already on there - I didn't look too hard ) so I can work out timings etc?

Am still not certain whether we will make it or not, I'm not sure whether ds has just been grumpy because of a new front tooth (he still only has 6) or whether there is something else going on, he's not eating much at the moment at all and is terribly clingy and has spent most of the day either in my arms or screaming, not the happy little boy we're used to, but I can't see anything really wrong....

Myjob - glad you had a great holiday, enjoy your lunch on Sunday!

Star - poor Q, I hope he feels better soon.

Ekka · 05/02/2010 21:49

Myjob - sorry, stole your last sentence there! I just re-read the messages . I really shouldn't drink wine

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2010 22:02

Sounds rather like teeth to me Ekka.
Ronshar's address is at the end of the jingle bells discussion on fb group.

aubergenie · 06/02/2010 08:42

How is Q this morning Star?

Right, I've booked an open train ticket. Am hoping it's to the right place.

What shall I bring? I've lost track of who is bringing what. Bearing in mind I've got to take S and buggy on tube (and change at Oxford Circus as district line not running this weekend. grrr) so can't carry anything too bulky. DP is taking S out today so I've got some time to make something.

I'm feeling a bit nervous actually. You've all met before haven't you? I'm going to be like the shy new girl.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 09:12

Just for you aubergenie

I haven't volunteered to bring anything yet actually. Is there anything else needed ronshar?

aubergenie · 06/02/2010 12:56

CSWS.

I'm procrastinating terribly this morning. I've got loads of school reports to write and DP has taken S out to give me some time to get on with it. I've done nothing.

Well, I've done loads actually, but not school work. The bathroom is spotless, I've been baking (savoury flapjacks. Yum), done loads of washing and more.

Right - I'm going to get started. I'm sure thinking about it it worse than actually doing it.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 13:09

What's in a savoury flapjack?

aubergenie · 06/02/2010 13:17

200g of grated veg (I used red pepper, carrot and a bit of kohl rabi but you could use anything)
an onion, grated or finely chopped
200g each of oats and grated cheese
mixed herbs
2 eggs

(I took out some of the oats and made up the quantity with some pumpkin seeds and ground flax seed)

Mix it all together, put in a tray and bake for about 25 mins at 190 degrees.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 14:10

Hmm, might give that a go to see if ds likes it. Sounds good for a portable snack.

I would have thought the egg would stick it together well enough without the cheese.....

Chocolate Heartache is currently baking in my mum's kitchen. We're both dieting so it's delicious oder is hellish torture. Next up are the lemon drops......... I am making the carrot cake without nuts so that should be ok for Ronshar Jr.

Not sure how long I shall be dieting for and I do indeed have a goal in mind! I think the fact that I added 85% cocoa Green & Blacks made it slightly more forgivable.

It is supposed to be heavy and dense right?
