Thats ok CSWS dont bring food, there will be plenty. Now I know roughly what can't be eaten it makes it a bit easier. We always over cater at parties!
I was going to do something diff for the children. Not sure yet but it will be children friendly, finger eatable stuff!
Actually can you repost your falafel recipe. I shall give it a go and if it is edible I shall do those as well. (I mean my cooking of them)

Pepper in case I forget have a lovely birthday. I shall try and post some pics on Sunday but I am sure the others will beat me to it.

RachieW · 03/02/2010 21:03

Just place marking and saying hi

50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 08:05

Oooooo! I'll make dd a birthday cake CSWS!!!! What does she like? It won't be a veggie one, I'll make her a proper full on lardy little girl's cake!!! I have pink food colouring and everything.

OP posts:
Ekka · 04/02/2010 08:55

Hmmm, Ronshar - is it too late to register an interest in coming on Sunday? Looks like dh is going to be working all weekend and I think I may need a distraction from the children! However, it would depend on ds shaking off his nasty cough and cold which is currently making him a very grumpy little boy. No problems if you don't have room for us - I won't sulk

Sorry no time to read messages properly - got to go out and get a birthday present for my sister....

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/02/2010 09:28

Oh yes do come Ekka - would be lovely to see you again. I think that ronshar is happy to have whoever can make it .

Bless you 50ft! But don't go to any trouble really. She likes pink pretty cakes and them having candles on for her to blow out, but she isn't actually a big cake eater. We always end up throwing away cake that she gets in party bags! She did really like the delia carrot cake that we made this time last year, but it's not really one that goes with pink icing!

50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 09:39

Was it iced CSWS? I am sure I can make some pink cream cheese icing for a carrot cake! Does DD like Jaffa Cakes? I made some yummy (well, they were yummy until my tummy expanded like a hideously deformed hot air balloon) orange cakes which I can easily turn into a big sandwich cake with bit-free marmalade & a chocolate topping......

It's no bother. I LOVE making cakes and it would be an alternative to the veggie cakes for people who don't need to be fat free.

Yes Ekka do come.

I am looking forward to my birthday this year as we have some very lovely friends coming to stay.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 04/02/2010 10:12

Yes, there is an icing recipe with it (it's on www), and we just subbed the cream cheese with tofutti last year, though wouldn't need to do that now. The cake itself is dairy free anyway, as uses oil.

She won't even try a jaffa cake (vile things)!

50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 10:42

Ronshar - DH, DS, M and I are all coming. I can't eat wheat and M can't eat dairy. That is it for us. The boys will eat pretty much anything, DH particularly likes meat. I will probably eat whatever CSWS has, we have similar diets these days!

I shall investigate CSWS.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 10:44

Found the recipie. I am going to make: Lemon drops (from the book), carrot cake for CSWS's dd and I will also make something chocolatey for Ronshar. Sound fair?

OP posts:
Ekka · 04/02/2010 11:30

If we do make it, it would be me, ds and dd. Dd and I can eat anything, but ds is dairy, egg, soya and nut-free and can't eat most fish so I would probably end up bringing him something (and will bring some dairy and egg-free cakes for him) or else poor Ronshar is going to find herself horribly limited, food-wise.

D'you think we have all the food allergies/intolerances represented on this thread yet? Or do we need to try harder?

50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 12:04

Oooo, I'm allergic to avocado too! That's a new one Ekka. DS is allergic to marmite. DH is allergic to melon, pear and strawberries...... Actually we seem to be a pretty feeble family!

OP posts:
ronshar · 04/02/2010 12:42

Right forget it. Bring your own food.
Ekka it would be lovely to see/meet you. The more the merrier.
It may be floor space only mide you

Hotel allergy shall offer up,
Roast Chicken.
Home made chicken strips, with egg & bread crumbs (sorry Ekka).
Salad.
Jacket potatoes.
Roast veg.
So far!

50ft dont worry too much about making me a chocolate cake. I love the chocolate but not too much the cake.
I shall help P eat her birthday cake. Oh and any other cake that happens to be floating about

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/02/2010 12:43

Oh yes, I didn't remind anyone about ds' seafood allergy (ok with prawns though)!

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/02/2010 12:44

Oh x post ronshar. Bravo. That will keep us all happy I think.

50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 12:50

Fabulous Ronshar, that's perfect for us. Are you sure I can't make something especially for you? No requests? Coconut cake.....?

OP posts:
StarExpat · 04/02/2010 13:09

I made the coconut cake! It's YUMMY
I put the naughty choc icing on it, though.
mmmmmm
shall I make that? maybe?
Trying to sort out if it will be me, Q and DH or just Q and I. The usual
I'm hoping dh will stay home and do the rest of the work that needs doing so we can put our 1 bed maisonette on the market ffs!! We've seem some good, reasonably priced 2 bedroom places recently and I want to be a position where it is actually possible! It's not much he's got left to do but it's difficult with Q underfoot and this would be the perfect opportunity.. but he'll probably say he doesn't want to spend the day w/out Q. blah

Don't cater to me with food - I am fine with anything. If there's something I don't eat, I just won't eat it and I'll be absolutely fine

Q has no allergies. I'm letting him eat chicken, although he rarely wants it, but that's another matter. Maybe seeing other toddlers eating it will make him more obliging

I'm excited

Ekka · 04/02/2010 14:16

Ronshar, those foods sound lovely. Though ds seems to be on hunger strike today - he has thrown all his food on the floor so far . I think its his cough that is meaning he doesn't really want to eat anything much

StarExpat · 04/02/2010 14:53

Yes, Q will definitely not eat you out of house and home. We'll be lucky if he manages a small morsel of anything... though he may eat a slice of cake if it's offered to him.

He's not eating much at all lately, which is odd because he seems full (full belly) after very very little food (like 1/4 of a piece of toast and some blueberries). And he looks like a tank.

Ekka · 04/02/2010 17:26

Star - I wouldn't worry, it goes in fits and starts. Only a few days ago it was a nightmare to get dd to eat more than half a slice of toast for breakfast, but this morning she had a piece of toast, and two american pancakes with raspberries - must be growing!

Ds ate a better tea at least, so I'm hoping he'll be more himself tomorrow.

We have had a looooong afternoon - the kids keep hitting each other over the head with toys (cue loads of screaming from both) and when I tried to distract them with colouring I got called away to the door for about 30 secs only to find when I got back it looked as if there'd been a massacre - yes, they had decided to colour themselves with the red pen. Thank goodness for crayola easy wipe pens, though dd is still looking rather pink in places

50ft - avocado . How can you be allergic to avocado . I've never come across that one - you definitely win the award for wierdest allergy

Ekka · 04/02/2010 17:35

weirdest

50ftQueenie · 04/02/2010 17:37

It's so odd isn't it Ekka? I discovered it when I had a chicken and avocado sandwich from Pret. I had always been allergic but never realised what is was until that point. It make me really sick for up to 24 hours after eating it. I LOVE Mexican food and guacamole in particular but if I even eat a tiny bit. Hrumph. Most of my days with M are calm and peaceful.... until DS is home. Then the screaming and bickering begins. I was utterly convinced that with such a big age gap they'd leave each other alone. How wrong I was!

OP posts:
ronshar · 04/02/2010 17:49

While my two were arguing about God knows what, I went and hid in the dining room "hanging up washing to dry". Unfortunately they found me before too long. I must try harder next time.....

OP posts:
StarExpat · 04/02/2010 19:38

I thought if it just made you sick it wasn't an actual allergy but just an intolerance? If getting sick on something is an allergy, then I'm allergic to American root beer - it is sooo yummy but makes me incredibly sick even if I have a tiny bit.
