oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

sounds lovely jammy

car boot sale on the hunt for cricket gear for us. and BBQ lunch at the GPs had a really bizarre conversation with DM about my implant (she thought I had a scar on my arm and asked if that's where it was, so I let her poke my other arm to feel it), she asked if it was still working , then there was a mistake comment by me about how I was having it changed next month as I'd read that it runs out quicker on overweight people so she was telling me I needed to make sure it was working (why? I am currently single. what does she think I am doing?), and ended with weirdness about how the dose of painkiller that would work for her wouldn't touch my pain because I need a horse-sized dose, but my dose would probably kill her outright. Sometimes my mum can be fab and really funny. Today was one of those times

ouch for sun-sensitivity. and for night-time activity. IKWYM

Hello .

Gorgeous weather! I have been being very careful since getting burnt the other day but there's nothing like sitting in the sun with a good book.

Jammy, sounds like you had a lovely day I think I would have been ready to die in the heat though!

Ria, that's good news about DH. I really hope everything works out!

Haven't really done much this weekend. DD has been pushing my buttons a bit which is not really her fault, mostly mine for being such a moody cow and I've been quite horrible to her. I'm fed up of hearing the sound of my own nagging!

Our flat down here is in a gated community so we don't have a garden but we sit outside and DD plays on the grass. We'll eat our lunch outside on a blanket etc. It's quite nice as we don't have to cut the grass/do the gardening . There have been a few people outside sunbathing in their bikinis. They're braver than me! I'm not going out there in any less than shorts and a vest!

LittleMissNorty · 24/05/2010 09:01

Hello

Hope all goes well Ria . Don't take any shit though!

Too bloody hot for me although I am not at work today and have just filled up the paddling pool for later and intend to sit in a chair supervising for the afternoon!

Princesses and pirates party sounds exhausting! No party for us this year - we shall take her out on Saturday as next Wednesday - bithday - is a nursery day. Seems a bit cruel to say "here's your new bike - right off to nursery now" so we'll do that and the cake at the weekend.

Jammyrella · 24/05/2010 12:01

Sending positive thoughts for DH coming back Ria, hope it goes well. But agree with the others not to take any shit!

Sheep - I also get tired of the sound of my nagging . Both to DD and DH!

We are lucky that Jamlet's birthday is on a Sunday this year, so can do all the celebrations on the day We are inviting 12 and will decide the day before if we are doing it in the garden (house not big enough to have that many inside so will depend on the weather) or going to soft play. I think I am a little mad? And can I have opinions on this? DH thinks it is just right for her, but I am concerned it is a little "babyish". We will also be getting a new paddling pool, as hers is too small now, and she has a Charlie & Lola DVD and playset put away already.

LittleMissNorty · 24/05/2010 12:11

Jammy, My DD would play in it if it was there but my DS would love it and he is 16 months........

justbeme · 24/05/2010 19:48

Jammy - thats fine - we got one out of our shed at the weekend and L loved sitting in it even though she has a proper house too.

Riapentatleisure · 24/05/2010 22:39

baggins was playing in something similar yesterday too jammy. And in a playhouse tent that we had for DS1 when he was a bit older. I'm sure it'll be fine for as long as she can fit through the tunnel. Baggins birthday on a Saturday, will have to do somnething to mark the occasion this year!

CharlottesClan · 25/05/2010 11:33

oooh lots of birthdays coming up this week.

ellens was nice yesterday we just had a teddy bears picnic

weather taken a turn for the worse. cant handle all this up and down weather making me stressed! got everyone up and dressed in summer clothes then looked out the window

hope dh's return is ok ria, good luck and hope baggins has a good bday

jammy i think its a bit young, although there are lots of things ellen will play with that are very young for her (soft cubes, bead toys)

my house is silent! george is asleep and the others at nursery.. blissful knitting in silence.

Riapentatleisure · 25/05/2010 13:59

tesco have swingball half price for £12.47 if anyone interested.

Just been and "booked" a few days awy with my parents next week. Hope we have good weather as I want to do loads of walking.

FairyFay · 25/05/2010 19:23

Hi everyone. Sounds like lots of birthday plans! We are having a bbq and am praying for warm weather as we have 17 kids and 18 adults altogether [eek]

Jammy, we got DD something like this for her 3rd birthday and she still loves it now. Plus she can use it indoors and out

FairyFay · 25/05/2010 19:23

wrong one

FairyFay · 25/05/2010 19:26

bugger, won't link properly - was trying to link to the fairy one at the bottom of that page

Jammyrella · 25/05/2010 21:19

Well, we ordered that tent/tunnel and a paddling pool, so fingers crossed! We also ordered a set of face paints in case the weather is good enough to have the party at home, so fingers crossed there too

Picked Jamlet up from nursery tonight and turning left out from the side road onto main road, as I went to pull out I found the car wasn't quite in gear. And in the time it took me to nudge the gear stick fully home the woman behind had driven into the back of me ! And you know what, she never asked how I was, or how Jamlet was. Just strolled up and said sorry and could we sort it out provately rather than using the insurance companies as her car was quite expensive to insure! So I have reported it to my insurance company, but will see how much the damage is and discuss with her before going ahead with the claim But got to go to the police station tomorrow, and DH thinks I should take me and Jamlet to the doctor just in case, so all in all it's a right faff But the main thing is we seem to be OK. Damage to the car looks quite bad, so might be a write off, so might be time for "new mummy car"

LackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2010 23:41

what a horrible rude woman jammy; stuff her and her "expensive to insure" car. More likely she has no no claims bonus due to repeated shit driving!

Glad you are both OK though x

DS1's birthday today and bless him he has been brilliant. He has been taking desmopressin to try and help with his night time wetting (it replaces the missing hormone), but not only did it not work , it turned him into a monster ; everything I have ever complained about in the past was a walk in the park to deal with compared to this. Moody, aggressive, mean and cruel and defiant...and that was before breakfast! Two days after stopping it and he is back to his usual feisty, but sweet, self. Next step is to try a bedwetting alarm. Poor thing though, it is really starting to upset him

Riapentatleisure · 26/05/2010 16:06

poor DS1 daisy. must be nasty for him.

jammy. hope you are OK. That could happen to me so easily as my spacestar is a bugger to get into gear. (or mnaybe it's me)

can you shopping experts find a better deal than this? Spotted it in B&Q yesterday when I was buying half dead cut price plants and am sorely tempted as it would just fit!

Riapentatleisure · 26/05/2010 16:07

does your DS go to a clinic daisy? My ex-friends DS does.

Jammyrella · 26/05/2010 16:33

My sis had a bed-wetting alarm as a girl Daisy, it did the trick.

Didn't go to the gp in the end, as we are fine. Dug out all the paperwork the policeman on the phone last night told me I should take along to my local station. Got there just after they went for lunch, so walked round shops for 40 mins, bought jamlet a sticker book so she have something to do while I filled in forms, but when I got back I was told there was no need to report it and they didn't want to take any details.

justbeme · 26/05/2010 20:16

I was just about to tell you that Jammy - you only have to report it if the other person drives off. Sorry wasn't on line last night!! What a waste of time.....

Sorry to hear about DS Daisy.

LittleMissNorty · 26/05/2010 20:32

We had a hit and run once and we got his plate number. I was sure he'd been drinking . Anyway police done sweet FA until I complained and ended up charging him with careless driving and failing to stop and I actually took a day off work to see him get 12 points on his license, £500 fine as well as be liable for all 4 cars he whacked and all resultant injuries. I think if the police had attended the accident rather than ask me to visit the next day, they would have got a positive breath test off him.

Glad you are ok Jammy. Have they written off you car?

How are you doing JBM?

Poor DS1 Daisy....fingers crossed the alarm helps

LackaDAISYcal · 26/05/2010 23:58

Been referred to the clinic run by the school nursing team, but not had anything through yet.

I am despairing of him today; he was up until after 1am last night and was sent home from school for falling asleep at his desk. tonight he went off for an early night as he was tired, and then I caught him watching TV at 10.30, after promising DH (who had switched everything off at the wall) that he would go straight to sleep.

That seems like a good deal on a trampoline Ria. I'd love to get one, but our garden isn't level so nowhere to put it!

Glad the neck is better jammy, but sorry to hear you had a wasted afternoon.

Found a fab job to apply for today, and there are three posts (2 permanent and 1 maternity cover) so hopefully I'll be in with a chance. Filling in application forms is sooooo tedious though. Anyway, tis with the council; good salary, good holidays and a final salary pension scheme! Wish me luck. It's funny how 18 months ago the thought of going back to work full time had me thinking "I'll only see the kids for a couple of hours a day "...now I'm thinking "I'll only see the kids for a couple of hours a day "

fabulous photos of your DC by fury Norty; they are very very gorgeous

LOL daisy. I am enjoying my child-free morning, even though I am wasting it with my big de-clutter atm, but once we're in a routine it will be better. That's if baggins will go back next week! I had to collect him early yesterday as he had got in a tizz over storytime (though he says he had fallen and hurt himself) and they couldn't deal with him.

Jammyrella · 27/05/2010 20:15

Glad you enjoyed/made good use of your morning Ria Hope Baggins takes to it.

Jamlet did much better at dance this morning. She didn't dance at all, but neither did she cry And although she didn't want to get changed into her fairy outfit (that she had specially selected) at first, after about 10 minutes I think she suddenly realised that all the other girls had fairy outfits or similar on and put hers on. So maybe in another week or so she might join in? We failed at swimming though as I forgot the cossies! But had fun in the park and Jamlet kind of made friends with some other girls.

We have decided to go ahead with insurance claim (blow what she wants!) and am glad we have done so as the garage bloke who came to look at it tonight said he thinks it will probably be written off.

CharlottesClan · 28/05/2010 22:36

jammy and about that woman!! hope the claim is straight forward for you!

about feeling different about getting back to work, i feel the same about starting college, least its only 4 days a week and dh is going to be with kids FT, still scary tho!

george is not sleeping atm.. i am shattered

LackaDAISYcal · 29/05/2010 01:01

Good for you jammy...stuff her and her "expensive to insure" car; maybe next time she'll get a punto!

What car was it btw?

Ria; I have an urge to see the sea and thinking of bringing the DC to the seaside sometime next week ....would be lovely to meet up.

natty, much empathy to you; bumble still not sleeoing well. We had three decentish nights but then last night was hideous. Prolly cos DH gave up sleeping on his floor (twas our anniversary ). DH back on floor tonight so we shall see.

Anyone heard of/from bumper recently? I know she namechanges slightly since the whole media thing so can't track her down. wondering how far on she is etc...?

jbm; how are you?

Arses, didn't get to take part in the MN carbon footprint thingy in the end

SChool holidays; where did they spring from? is it just me, or has the last half term gone reeeeaaaallllly fast?

Good Luck to foxy with the move, and I hope to meet up with you soon xx
