oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

LackaDAISYcal · 18/05/2010 22:56

helllooooooooooo. I have my pooter back . It was only the transformery thingy, so was reasonably cheap to sort

been hell on wheels here . First bumble, then I've had a kidney infection, DS1 is a little gobshite and Em is screeching whenever someone says something she disagrees with, and now bumble isn't sleeping. He wakes up every 40ish minutes and either needs patting/rubbing/cuddling back to sleep and then after 4ish just can't be settled. tonight though, DS1 suggested that he (DS1) sleep in DD's bed (she has been in with us as part of the controlled crying failed experiment) and he cheered up at the mention of the bed, so is in that tonight...so far so not too bad! Perhaps we need to build up the big bed for DD and move bumble to the toddler bed? DS1 was in a bed by this age, so I can't see why not (other than the fact that bumble is a tour de force and will probably wreck the joint)

Off to catch up, but before I do.....balance bikes.....toys'r'us have one half price at the minute, for £25. It is a bit bright (all primary colours) and has solid wheels, but as it'll only be for a short time we decided that we would get it for DD!

hi daisy. good to have you back. Hope things improve for you quickly.

I am hoping for peaceful night having spent the best part of 2 days (when I could get away from the devil incarnate and poorly pants) cleaning and tidying my bedroom.. tonight I have new kingsized duvet and bedlinen, as well as proper grown-up dressing table layout and clear floor all the way round my bed... And I want the bed ALL TO MYSELF for as much of the night as possible! Have even fought my way through the devastation and changed their beds in their room (my next major task)in the hope that they would stay put (they have both been in with me again for over a week now) Sorted out a load of clothes yesterday - DS2 was wearing a pair of age 9 trousers. Do you need anything for bumble daisy, or shall I get rid? (can get them to you beginning of June perhaps, even if I don't make it for a meet-up)

thanks for the heads-up on the balance bike. I know nothing about them. Are they a good thing really?

BTW, ALL my children are gobshites

LackaDAISYcal · 19/05/2010 00:07

Hi Ria

Shorts would be much appreciated if you have any in age 18-24 months. would also be lovely to meet up; even lovelier if it was minus children so we could have a good old natter without distractions

balance bikes are meant to help them learn more quickly, and boost confidence. All to do with not having to rely on stabilisers and learning how to balance their body correctly in order to keep the bike upright (fondly remembers DS1 leaning at 45 degrees round corners on his stabiliser bike and the problems we had getting him to drop them)

Have just applied online for a job as a Structural Engineering design software programmer! No programming experience but knowing the design codes over-rides that failing apparently. All programming training will be given. Am quite excited about it as they are a company I've had my eye on for ages. But first application after three years out of work; is it too much to expect it to be successful?

Have started signing on! Am so desperate to get back to work; then I will only need to see my children for two hours a day

Ahh, so some of you do still post!

I haven't been across this thread in ages!

Hope you're all ok, can you believe that our little ones
are nearly 3? I bet we have had some new additions since?

I need to catch up on gossip, I hope you all remember me, it's Izzy!

LackaDAISYcal · 19/05/2010 00:21

hi there sheepy one . always nice to see an old friend!

I know..DD's birthday is less then three weeks away! She is sooooo grown up.

OP posts:
Wanderingsheep · 19/05/2010 01:32

Have only read some of thread as would take me forever to catch up! I thought this thread had died, glad to see that it hasn't .

Congratulations to those of you that have had babies since the last time I posted!

JBM it looks like you haven't got long to go congrats!

Foxy, congratulations on your wedding, hope you had a great day and are enjoying being married!

DD is quite grown up now. A little sod at times but fantastic! She starts nursery in September, I can't bloody wait!

DP and I are getting married in August, can't wait! It's only taken us 9 years.

LittleMissNorty · 19/05/2010 20:49

congratulations Izzy at the wedding. How exciting.

Haven't heard from JBM - perhaps she has had the baby????

Good to see you Daisy. Good luck with the job - sounds great. I honestly don't know how people cope being SAHM's and I take my hat off to you all who do it. I had mine on my own Friday - Tuesday and I couldn't wait to get out of the house this morning . My DS is also a gobshite - even at 16 months old - and into bloody everything!!!

Off to Wales tomorrow for a meeting. Last time I was at a confernece like this, I couldn't stop sniggering because the person talking sounded exactly like Stacey off Gavin & Stacey. Pathetic I know. I am quite looking forward to an uninteruppted nights sleep though (although I'll miss them like mad!)

Well done ria on all the cleaning. where do you get your motivation?

Jammyrella · 19/05/2010 21:46

Wow I look away for a bit and there is a sudden flurry of activity

Speaking of activity, THREE HOURS at soft play this afternoon. I am exhausted! A lot of it was on the big climbing frame so I had to go up and down with her. Was good fun though

And congrats sheep/Izzy. Not long to go now then - are you all organised?

Ria - a friend of my brother had a balance bike for his child and apparently it did wonders for balance and made learning to pedal a real bike a doddle.

LittleMissNorty · 19/05/2010 22:00

blimey 3 hours!!

I sit with a cup of tea at soft play and let them get on with it

LackaDAISYcal · 19/05/2010 22:08

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials izzy

soft play sounds exhausting jammy, but I am so pleased that jamlet's speech is coming along

Had an interesting day today. Went to get some stuff to make birthday party invitations and DD was set on some shocking pink feathers and some cardboard buttons. I also got some stickers. Got to the till, paid and was halfway out the shop when I noticed DD was holding the buttons and I hadn't paid for them. So, waited till the woman on the till was finished with the next customer and paid again. then we went for a bite to eat, and as I brought the food over to the table, DD was sat reading a book called "Sleepover Party" . When quizzed, it transpired that she liked it and wanted it and had sneaked it under the buggy. I was pretty angry, but kept my cool and explained why it was wrong to take things, then after our food, went back to the shop, made her hand it over and apologise. So far so good. Walked back to the car which was a bit away from the shop, got the kids in the car and was unloading the pram prior to folding it when I pulled out not one, but another THREE boxes of the coloured feathers . Couldn't face going back to the shop, but will do it tomorrow and just offer to pay for them, although I am probably on CCTV and will be on Crimewatch next month with a "watch how this woman uses her child as a diversion while she steals yet more stuff....I am mortified. DS1 never did anything like this. What makes it worse is that I caught her stuffing books under there in Waterstones on Monday and had explained why it was wrong. She gets it now I think; last thing she said was "will the shop call the police mummy?" I reassured her not this time, but if she does it again they might! Probably terrified her of the police for the rest of her life.

lol, that was an epic, but I just had to share.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/05/2010 22:11

Oh and me too at soft play....gammy hip and shoulder are good excuses! I remember hovering after DS1 when he was this age.....DD and bumble just get left to it. Bumble kept running off to another bit of the playground yesterday (which is out of sight) and I got fed up chasing him, so left him to it; he came back eventually!

justbeme · 19/05/2010 22:51

No Im still here Norty!! Have a nice time in Wales!
Trying to sort out my Homebirth. Have Consultant (Registrar) saying no - (due to fibroid) and Home birth midwifes saying that the Dr's don't know what they are talking about!!

Both Dc's were 11 days late before - do you reckon I'll be the same with this one??

Hi Izzy - Congrats on the wedding.
Jammy - How did you manage 3 hrs play?? phew!!
Daisy - How embarrassing!! I wouldn't bother going back though if I were you!!

Wanderingsheep · 20/05/2010 07:42

Grr, wrote a really long post last night and then my phone died!

Anyway, good morning

DD is ready up being demanding!

It's not funny but Daisy your light-fingered DD made me snigger . Kids can be so embarrassing, can't turn your back for a minute eh? My nephew, who turned 1 last week, nicked a cuddly toy from Ikea!

Jammy, 3 hours at soft play sounds exhausting. Suprised you managed to last that long! I don't mind soft play so much but DP hates it, although the stories on here about finding poos in the ball pools put me off a bit!

We went to the park yesterday. I didn't realise how hot it was going to be and I got sunburnt like a numpty! thankfully DD didn't as she was running around and hiding under the slide, but my arms are very red. I'm going to look like a zebra in a wedding dress at this rate, with the strap marks that I've got!

CharlottesClan · 20/05/2010 11:39

hi guys

coming up to everyones birthdays isnt it.. arnt they getting old now!

dh been really poorly so ive been about much.

thomas has had his tongue tie snipped now, that went really well with no hiccups so proud of him
he got into his first choice primary so thats brilliant!

dh has had his second op, kidney problem resolved, but we have had trouble with various medication causing side effects (rapid heart beat, sweating, seizures)
he seems ok now tho

ellen is going to be going to the same school as thomas in september (in the nursery) we found out yesterday. one less thing to worry about now! she is three on monday we are having a teddy bears picnic.

charlie is.. now called george. hes cruising, crawling and signing some words now bless him

and im going to college in september to finish the course i started before having thomas.

not much happening then!

what have i missed any births/marriages/pregnancies??

justbeme · 20/05/2010 18:18

Wow CC - no wonder you've not been on here. Glad to hear DP is on the mend.
Saw your status on FB about George!! I've never heard of that happening before.
We haven't chosen baby names yet - took over 3 weeks to name L, as it is a really difficult decision isn't it??

Sun burn WS - where do you live again??

Wanderingsheep · 20/05/2010 20:01

Where do I live? That's a good question! well I live up North in Lancashire but ATM we're staying in a flat in London while DP is working down here. We've been living here for a few months but we're going back home soon. It's nice here and the weather is a little warmer here but I'm missing my friends and family and my own house!

JBM, not long to go then. 3 weeks! How exciting! Do you know what you're having? A few of my friends have had new babies recently and my SIL is pg. DD was obsessed with having a baby in her tummy for a while. She told me that when I have a baby in my tummy I can have a sticker!

CC, George is a great name! Good, solid, classic boys name. One of my best friends has a little boy called George and he's gorgeous. He's got the longest eyelashes I've ever seen!

Jammyrella · 20/05/2010 21:23

I like the name George. Personally I think it's nicer than Charlie, but I don't quite know why.

I thought I was having a haircut tonight. Rushed off to get there on time (having left late because I'd been talking to a friend who came round) only to find my appointment is NEXT week

CharlottesClan · 20/05/2010 22:34

ws - took me a second to work out who you were hello!

jbm - dh is indeed on the mend and i am just as pleased i can tell you!!

jammy - thats how i feel, although charlie is a perfectly fine name, i prefer george (although its taking some doing to remember to CALL him the right name!!!!)

Wanderingsheep · 21/05/2010 13:02

CC, I knew who you were because of the mention of Thomas and Ellen! How old is George?

I do love the name Charlie too but George is lovely!

Riapentatleisure · 21/05/2010 14:19

hi all. wow! It too a while to catch up today!

I prefer George to Charlie. George was DS2s "bump" name

hi WS, and JBM and CC.

daisy. I live in fear of that happening.

rather you than me on the soft play jammy.

I think it was on the election (or maybe something else) there was a woman giving a speech who was just like Nessa from G&S - looks, voice, speech pattern etc. I sniggered too!

Possible bit of good news here - have spent a bit of time with DH this week, and we a re planning on him moving back next week at some point. (Of course, that could well go arse up before the first box is even in the car) He came to watch DS1 play cricket (we missed the match as DS1s team got beaten after 5 overs, I didn't set off until I thought they would be halfway through as I thought the little ones would get bored if we were there too long) and he has taken away some empty boxes... watch this space. I am quite daunted/nervous about the thought of having to share my space though

Riapentatleisure · 21/05/2010 20:55

woohoo, just bought a bike similar to this for baggins birthday. £20 and local pickup

CharlottesClan · 21/05/2010 21:21

bargain ria!!

george is 10 months WS

been at chessington today for ellens birthday treat. am sunburnt and knackered. perfect day for the new carrier tho

bit quiet around these ere parts

LackaDAISYcal · 23/05/2010 09:01

helloooooo; it's hot hot hot here! lovely, but miserable cranky children are no fun. DD wants to run around naked (having a hard time trying to keep her clothes on at the minute) but we can't use suncream as she reacts to everything we have tried, even ones recommended by the national eczema society I also have a hideous sun sensitivity going on and am permanenty red on my chest and upper arms, and am sick fending off comments about it being sunburn. Am self medicating with antihistamines and factor 50 to see if that improves things.

charlie now george CC??? are you changing his name? Good Luck with the course.

Why would a fibroid cause problems jbm? I think people have a tendency to cook babies for the same amount of time, so you may well be late again, but otoh third babies are notoriously fickle so he/she might just surprise you!!

Good news Ria for you and DH and I really hope that things work out for you all. I'm sure he knows you won't be taking any shit from him again

bumble still not sleeping; it's exhausting.

DD is getting a balance bike (£25 in toys r us) and a cheapo digital camera for her birthday. Went for a real one rather than a kiddy one; half the price and much better image quality. And it's hot pink so should make her happy! DS1 is 8 on Tuesday. We bought him a tiny flat screen TV ages ago, but his room is now empty of toys and games and the PS2 is back in the box (he was playing games till after 10 some nights and watching static on the aerial-less TV, so wondering whether to even bother giving it to him. Although what we do with it if we don't is anyone's guess as we got it from a shop that was closing down so it can't even be returned and we have nowhere else to put it...

Party is in two weeks; a joint princesses and pirates party. Of course DD wants to be a pirate princess!!

right, gtg, natives are getting restless!

OP posts:
CharlottesClan · 23/05/2010 10:27

know what you mean about the sun daisy.. i have really sore skin thats not burnt (thought it was but its not red or hot) but it feels burnt. almost like my skin feels when ive used a cream thats scented.

hope it gets better for you soon, im covering up with them beach type tops over a vest so im not exposed but not hot?

charlie is now george daisy yes, we are still adjusting but getting the right name 80% of the time and he no longer responds to charlie, only george or georgie.

saw my mum yesterday, she was actually really nice to me, didnt make sarky comments about the way i am dealing with thomas atm or about the name change.
however it does make me feel on edge when she is being nice because i dont know why and i feel awful for assuming theres a reason ifuswim?

Jammyrella · 23/05/2010 21:36

Been really hot here too. And busy. Swimming then a quick trip into Sainsburys before going to a "cushion concert" at our arts centre (all about the clarinet), then out for a picnic lunch which involved climbing a hill under the glaring sun so we were all worn out and overheated. Was lovely though, just a shame I forgot the camera. Spent the rest of the afternoon playing in the garden at home
